AirPort Express - ethernet works, not wi - fi

Just got from an appt to Genius Bar in which technology shows that my Express does not model AP A1392 works fine when connected with an ethernet cable. I repeated the process when I got home and indeed was able to add the AP Express to my network - where he worked very well in mode wi - fi for several years.

However, when the cable is unplugged and that the AP in the room next door where it belongs, Express I get is orange flashing - once again. Then ethernet working, WiFi not so much. Of course several resets were considered, and the entire network rebuilt w / AP Utility. The base station AP Extreme and Express other, AP (much older) right hook to the top, but not my A1392 model.

In the hope there an easy solution somewhere. Thank you!

If you unplug ethernet then the entire setup of the express must extend the roaming wireless change.

It is better to do the installation in the same room as the router wireless, that you intend to connect... Place the express within 8' (2 M for example) of the router or AP... do a factory reset and reconfigure... the Express should go via the airport Wireless Utility Setup Wizard automatically extend mode and work very well... Make you think that.

You can then move it to the desired location.

What can happen that here is the signal of something else in your network... is greater than the extreme radio or whether... and you cannot extend twice... If this does not work... I experienced it myself using too many Extenders. The express tries to connect to the incorrect device and fails.

You must place the Express at the location where the signal is BEST router will connect with.

  • AirPort Express 'expand' works not

I just got a new AirPort Express Terminal 2nd gen and I'm trying to expand the network. We do not have an Extreme or Time Capsule. AirPort utility happens me an error stating that "this AirPort base station could not extend the wireless network. Make sure the wireless network you are trying to expand has been implemented and works correctly, you have entered a password for wireless network corresponding to this device, and that this device is in range of the wireless network". The network works fine. The password is correct for you. My phone is connected to the network, and the airport is connected by ethernet. Why is this happening? How should I do?

Sorry, but "Extend a wireless network" feature Apple's patented and designed to work only with another router from Apple if you try to use the AirPort Express Terminal to expand the wireless network.

With a router not Apple, the Express can expand the network, but it will wired Ethernet wired, permanent access to the main router.

  • Extended to Airport Extreme Ethernet ports not IP address assignment.

I have an Airport Extreme as my basic router and another Airport Extreme and an Airport Express, which runs from the router.

Since the extended Airport extreme, I have an Ethernet Hub and a Macbook Pro connected via an Ethernet Port, but every time I attach any device to the ethernet port on the Airport Extreme of the device has an auto assigned IP.

Although, when I'm attached to the long terminal Airport Express, it's the IP assignment correctly.

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

The two airports 'extension'... the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express... are in Bridge Mode when they "extend a wireless network".  DHCP (the process of allocating IP addresses... is disabled when a device is in Bridge Mode... it's up to your "main" AirPort Extreme to assign all IP addresses to network devices.)

The 'extension' airports simply pass the IP address information to connected devices... the devices 'extension' assign IP addresses themselves.

Since the AirPort Express works correctly, it seems that the 'extension' AirPort Extreme is the culprit.  From what you have told us, it seems that if the Ethernet switch on the device is not working properly. We learn more about this unit before us to jump to conclusions.

    (1) what is a newer version of the 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme or an older version of 'flat' or 'square' to the extreme?  If it is the old version, we need the model number of the bottom of the unit.  It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

    (2) when you connect an Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet ports to the extreme that extends, is the little green light next the port light?

    (3) what operating system you are using on the Mac or the PC that you use to configure the airports?

  • Apple Airport express records is not on the wifi network

HI, I bought an Apple Airport Extreme new several months and I haven't connected my Airport Express so far. For some reason, the Airport Express is same does not record on the network. I unplugged for several minutes and plugged in. I don't know if there may be a software update that I missed?  Someone had this problem?  I would be grateful for any help. Thank you! Chuck

If you have not reset the Terminal AirPort Express to settings by default and then set up again to extend the network provided by the AirPort Extreme... so now may be a good time to do this.

As it is, the Express is not "appear" on your network because it has not been provided with the settings to do.

If you need some advice on how to get the Express running... we will need a little more information from you as follows:

    (1) your AirPort Express Terminal has two Ethernet ports... or... does he have one?  If is has one, we need to model on the side of the unit number. It starts with an "A" followed four digits.  For example... A1264.

    (2) AirPort Express Terminal will connect to the network using a permanent connection to the Ethernet cable wired to AirPort Extreme... or... the Express will connect wireless?

    (3) what device you use to configure the AirPort Express Terminal?

    (4) If you have a Mac, we need to know what operating system they are running. If you are not sure about this, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on about this Mac and post back with the Version of OS X number that you see there.

  • Airport Express - USB drive not visible in the finder

I have a brand new Airport Express that I currently use as an Extender for our old time Capsule. I would like to share a USB between computers. The Aiport utility see the drive.

However, the Finder does not show the drive.

In the future this extreme with a USB (mini 4 TB drobo) will be in our caravan to help us to do video editing and blogging with 2 computers on the road.

Finder are not displayed at the start of the drive, but it should display the AirPort Extreme under the Shared heading in the left side of the Finder window.

In the example below, my AirPort Extreme (called AEBS) has a drive named 500 GB drive connected to the USB port at the back of the unit.

By clicking on the AEBS, another window displays the name of the player on the right side of the window.

Double-click to mount the drive on the desktop.

Now you can drag and drop files on the disc icon, or open the drive and drag the files into the opened window, which represents the drive.

  • Airport Express stops working after that put 7.7.7 upgraded to Time Capsule

I was able to update my firmware for my Time Capsule airport, but now my two devices Airport Express, which gave me "an unexpected error has occurred", seem to be in 'brick' and I can not even time Capsule to recognize after a reset.  I even spent my firmware to see if that was the problem... nothing.  Please help

At this point, is the time Capsule still loaded with an earlier version of the firmware or is it still in 7.7.7? Nevertheless, I would say that you do a ' default ' reset on each of the affected AirPort Express base stations to their "out-of-the-box" configurations

Depending on your answer to the first question, we can proceed from there.

  • Dynadock 3.0 Ethernet works not regardless of the used OS

To integrate a new laptop in my environment, I bought a designed with Gigabit-Ethernet Dynadock yesterday - ideal 3.0 and 5.1 Audio.

Supported Windows 8.1 in a perfect way, I updated the Firmware in a first step to the release of December, which was a big mistake!

I haven't checked with the former, but the new firmware seems defective!

Each device is installed without problem on 3 laptops (Win 7 x 86, Win 7 x 64 and Win x 64 8.1), but none of this notebook, the dynadock ethernet device working.

It is shown as properly installed and works, but it does not receive any package Ethernet - to send, if I think that the statistics of the network of the operating system. Nowhere, I could find no clue to identify a driver problem. As the ethernet port receives no response from the dhcp server, the operating system shows a yellow "!" in the status-symbol bar.

    That's all.
I checked the connection even with an old-to-ethernet-adapter USB, which has been a success.

So far, I suppose, that the FW is broken, because, if the drivers are o.k. and connection is OK as well, the only other explanation would be that the HW is broken, which seems unlikely for a new device.

    Any other idea?
    Similar experience? Advice?

I'll send the device back, to get a new one? Will there be a fix for FW available soon?
Can I reinstall the old FW (how)?

    > but none of this notebook, the dynadock ethernet device working.

First you must download the latest version of software (compatible with Win 8.1) of displaylink page:
    http://www.DisplayLink.com/support/downloads.php

You should also read the article on upgrading to Win 8.1
    http://www.DisplayLink.com/support/ticket.php?id=346

If LAN is not recognized you must manually update the Dynadock U3 LAN driver. To search for drivers in the folder: C:\Program Files\DisplayLink base logiciels\

Try also to forward the authentication settings of the internal to the external network adapter.
Open the properties of the internal network card and choose the parameters of the tab "authentication."

Now check the option titled enable IEEE 802. 1 x authentication for this network
    Choose EAP type: EAP (PEAP)

Also check the option called authenticate as computer when computer information is available

After you apply the settings on this tab map LAN Dynadock, it should work without any problems.

  • Airport Express not on my network more

My Airport Express has worked wonderfully for years. Today when I tried to use AirPlay, it shows that the Airport Express Terminal dropped out of the network. The network works fine everywhere else, iMac, iPhone, iPad Pro...  I checked the plug and it works fine. Also, I have plugged and unplugged the power cord from the socket and rear of the machine.  I also tried to reset. What can I do else? The Airport express has just been? I had about 4-5 years.

Five years, on average, is about that for a router designed for home use, so it can be discussed here.

Suggest that you perform a hard reset on the Express and try to set it up again. To do this, turn on the Express for a few minutes, then press and hold the reset button on the Express for 7 to 8 seconds and release.  Allow a minute for the Express restart to a slow status of amber light flashes.

Try to implement the Express again. If the Express will not properly configure, or it will not stay on the network, it's time for a new AirPort Express Terminal.

  • Airport Express connects to my WiFi bridge

    Hello world

It is searched many Web pages and throughout the Apple support forums, but I still could not understand...

I bought recently Airport Express to extend my Wifi in another room and thus use it for AirPlay. My existing WiFi network is set up by the router, Asus RT - N12 (it is connected to our modem from the vendor to the scale of home - isn't available). I want to my Airport Express to work as bridge, connected to the existing network and to serve as extension and receiver airplay.

It works only when I connect Airport Express via LAN cable to the Asus router and set it as the new network. This is not convenient because it is located near the router and does not provide any additional coverage to our Wifi.

I tried to set up the base Airport Express "Extend existing network." But once set, it REQUIRES connection via cable. To connect to the existing WiFi network, there is NO other choice. This option is missing in the Airpot utility, so I can't select the Wifi to connect to.

In addition, when I connect to the Airport Express Terminal cable to the WAN port (which is our wall of our home modem), you do not find the internet connection for some reason any (while Asus has no question to do).

I'm quite desperate here. I already think to buy Airport Extreme. But I don't know if he will be able to connect to the internet for the same reason. And, it is five times more expensive. Everything else works with Asus without problems and additional parameters. iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, Android phones, Mac Pro, laptops Windows (except old 3G iPhone that says that it cannot connect to the network).

Any ideas where to look for a solution? None of the settings in our modem Asus to allow the airport as bridge recommended? And, above all, WHY is configuring lack the ability to connect to the existing Wifi network and wants to connect via cable ONLY?

    Thank you...

I want to my Airport Express to work as bridge, connected to the existing network and to serve as extension and receiver airplay.

Unfortunately, function of "extend a wireless network" Apple is an exclusive feature that has been designed by Apple for only wireless "extend" the signal of another Apple wireless router.

Or, another way of saying the same thing would be to say that, if you want to extend the wireless network, you will need two routers Apple for this purpose.

In other words, the function 'extend' is not compatible with 3rd party routers, so the only way that you will be able to get the Express at work... or any other router from Apple, incidentally... would do what you did and plug the Express using a wired Ethernet cable connection.  If you cannot run the Ethernet cable, then you can take a look at a pair of Ethernet over Powerline (EOP) adapters to eventually send the signal on power lines the existing AC in your House.

If you only want to use the AirPort Express for AirPlay, it might be possible for the Express to 'join' the wireless network... but the Express won't provide any additional wireless signal coverage by joining a wireless network.

  • AirPort Express is no show in the utility AP

Airport Express 1264 does not appear in the chart of AirPort Utility.

I had my time airport Capsule (3rd generation) running for years.

Buy a model 1264 1st Gen Airport Express to extend the system.

CAT6 used to connect Express to Time Capsule but Express is a utility AirPort show

Not connected Express directly to Mac-Mini photo express is a show.

2 days, I played and I tried many internet configuration scenarios.

Can you help me or would it be better to mix the 1264 and buy another Express?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

AirPort Utility is based on both the mDNS (aka, Hello) and IPv6 IP protocols to find an AirPort base station.

I suggest that you check that your Mac mini is configured for, at least, only link-local IPv6 mode. To do:

    • Run system preferences > network > select depending on how you connect your mini to the network Ethernet or Wi - Fi
    • Select Advanced
    • Configure IPv6: Link-local only
    • Click OK.
    • Click on apply.
  • Airport Express connection problem

I have an old Airport Express I can not connect to.  My utility program Airport says that it does not support this Airport Express device.

The version of AirPort Utility which is required to administer the old 802.11 g AirPort Express does not work with newer versions of Mac OS X or on iOS devices. You would need either a Mac OS X lion or earlier, or a PC running Windows XP or 7 that does not have the correct version for this base station.

In addition, a base station that old was its useful life and it can be much simpler to replace it with a newer model.

  • Airport Express 5 GHz network speed

    Hello

I have a 200 Mbps service, obviously connected via Ethernet, the ISP told me that their modem was not argued that the wireless speed, they suggested me to purchase an Airport Express station (I did), I'm not having that speed yet, they told me that maybe it was because the Airport Express Terminal was not connected via a CAT6 cable (which perhaps it is true because it was an old cable LAN) , but read a lot of discussion, I fear I won't get it this speed even with a CAT6 cable, I can't return my Airport Express (Mexico political Service suck) and get an Airport Extreme, then:

I'm preparing here? I can't 200Mbps wireless with an Airport Express Terminal? What you suggest me to do? (Purchase am than airport Extreme is not an option right now $$$)

PS I'm so afraid Bob Timmons brings me bad news

    Thank you

Sorry, but it's not really important that you use CAT5 or CAT6 wiring as the Ethernet on the AirPort Express ports are limited to 100 Mbps. You never reach 200 Mbit/s that your ISP provides to you. The AirPort Extreme, has on the other hand, all Ethernet 1 Gbps ports.

  • How to configure a printer without wire of Canon (MG4150) to the Airport Express

In my living room, I have a cable modem that is configured in Bridge mode. On the first floor in a room, I installed an Airport Express station. Everything works well except my printer Canon (MG4150) does not work. What is the solution for my problem?

This Canon printer supports wireless connectivity, should just be configured to connect to the wireless network provided by the AirPort Express. Is not the way you currently put in place?
