  AFTER an upgrade successful ESXi 3.5 to ESXi 4.0. I can't add my basic features free license key. Before the upgrade, that I was NOT in trial mode, I had already entered the license key for the basic version of esxi 3.5 several months ago, and things have been fine. Now, after the 4.0 update, I am in trial mode - only now, I'm unable to enter a license anywhere key.   What must we do to recover the server to an operational state? If there is other information needed to help us please let me know.

  And, what distro and version is ESXi 4.0.0 inspires?  I read that it is Redhat, but I couldn't find the version.

  I have worked with Soloris, Linux and Aix over the years, so I am comfortable working from the cmd line if need be.

  ESXi is not Linux. The VMkernel is VMware. The small console that runs the VMkernel is busybox. ESX has a VM management based on RedHat 5, but here again the VMkernel is all VMware.

  I would check that the embedded NICs are working properly. Start with a linux rescue disk and test.

  If all extracted would reset the system configuration from the yellow Console screen. Your configuration will be lost, but your machines virtual etc. will be OK. You will need to add to the inventory.

  Excellent work. The two sets of Gdisk steps are correct. If you are on El Capitan, these two sets of measures Gdisk will fail because of the Protection of the integrity of system being activated. Please disable SIP.

  1. boot in local restoration (command-R).

  2. start utility-> Terminal.

  3. type csrutil disable in the Terminal, and then press enter/return.

  4. type csrutil State.

  5 start normally, then type csrutil status to confirm that all of the individual entries are still disabled.

  We have a system of FireSight with a version 5.4.0.5 Virtual Data Center and several ASA devices. We have set some user Agents for the session and closing of session servers MS AD user logon information and met 2 problems:

  (1) all servers user agent (Windows server 2008R2/64/SP1 and Windows server 2012R2) report error 2201. They can pull the AD server logon information correctly and export the correct user card, can communicate with the virtual data center, but just cannot send data to it. Meanwhile, a user on the Windows 2008 STD/SP2 Server Agent works perfectly. Have you tried 3 other servers, 2 versions of the User Agent, en - us locale and 2 versions of .net. Nothing has changed.

  (2) we prefer to have only 1 User Agent but 1 User Agent supports 5 servers DC Max. We set up a central AD server to register the security logs of all servers of ads with success to his 'Reported events' event log file and set the User Agent to extract data from this central AD server.   Your interpretation is correct...
  In the case of 2-node rac system, having two scna listener running in a single node is the behavior expected and supported under normal circumstances. (because oracle is recommended to use 3 SCAN ips even if its 2 node rac).
  And Yes when node 1 fails, then the resources of VIP SCAN and SCAN listener will failover to the rest of i.e node 2. And when node 2 is restored again, and then again VIP SCAN and SCAN listener will move to it.

  If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

  Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
