  • Satellite 1800-100: need manual disassembly instructions, service or similar

This thing is long out of warranty, and it is I have a few things, I would like to try with it.
I have a few spare CPU, among which are both 100 and 133 Mhz fsb coppermines. I was not able to determine if they are compatible beyond the fsb to 100 Mhz, but the lappy versions is currently equipped with a celeron 700 mhz coppermine, so the 100 Mhz version should work. Anyway, id need to clean the CPU cooler to get a stable and low working temperature. However, I was not able to find anything in the way of manual disassembly instructions, service, or similar.

Nothing in this field would be nice, because I don't want to tear into a unit fully working as a 'best effort '.

Any ideas as to what is 'max memory'? from what I read and tested memories, seams 2x128MB to overcome, however it could just be that this 'thing' is picky about his memory. I tried a pair of PC133 CL2 Kingston 128 MB of "MEM" and he refused to start. Now his race on two "noname" 128 MB, CL3, PC100 and its working like a charm. I tried a pair of muschkin CL2.5 256 MB mems as well, without success.

What id of love really is to get at least 512 MB of memory running here, with a ~ 1 GHz cpu. Daniel that there are virtually no upgradepath information available for a machine of this old? I couldn't see why someone might not want to leave anyone to tinker with the stuff its still under warranty, but by now there may be any unit left of the warranty of this version.

Well well, thank you for your time and effort.
    B!

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop was delivered with a Celeron 100 MHz FSB 800 MHz speed. But I've read many sites that usually it of not possible to upgrade the processor.

I also found information on the compatible RAM and size max upgrade. It seems that you can upgrade the RAM to 512 MB max and these modules are supported:
    PC100 256 MB (PA3069U - 1 M 25)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)

More I have not found any official manual of maintenance. It seems that these documents are available only for authorized service partner Toshiba.

  • Upgrade options card Alienware Area 51 ALX graphics

I searched through the forums in vain for what I hope it's a simple question.

I have a 4 years, Area 51 ALX with dual AMD 6990 cards installed. However, AMD does not support these one more and the last set of drivers that they issued are not compatible with most of my games on Steam.

So - I'm looking to replace those with newer nVidias.

    But - that are comaptible?

    Hello

You can upgrade to GTX1060, 1070, 1080, Titan X PASCAL, among others; and since for the performance of dual AMD 6990 you should already have the 1200W PSU.

  • Profile of Alienware Area - 51 ALX Intel XMP A10 does not work with DDR3 1600 MHz

I bought three Kingston 8 GB RAM DDR3 1600 MHz 240 pin DIMM that totals up to 24 GB of RAM and install in my desktop computer. When I turned on and the message appeared saying:

Maternal health and infant is running with DDR3 - 1333 MHz

WARNING! Previous overclocking failed, and system restore its default value. Press F1 to continue, F2 to enter Setup Menu

When I access the BIOS setting (version A10), I disabled XMP and then it went through fine after the reboot. However, I have to have XMP allow at any time? How can configure profile 1333 MHz to 1600 MHz XMP?

What bothers me is that I had three former PIN of Kingston 4 GB RAM DDR3 1600 MHz 240 DIMM which total up to 12 GB of RAM and the XMP worked very well with them before they were 1600 MHz.

The type of computer I have is:

    Alienware Area-51 ALX

    Intel Core i7 980 Extreme 6 c with 12 MB of Cache

    Windows 7 Ultimate

Please, help me to solve this problem. Thank you.

And I certainly don't have the answer, but I'll remember these points:

    1. I think that you can set manually nothing XMP adjustable (but with more control).

2 machines often memory need to be slowed down when you are near maximum capacity look maintenance manuals.

3 area-51 has never been tested or even allow the 8 GB DIMMs. You are in the new territories.

    4. If you really need 24 GB (and it works at 1333) then the 267 speed drop is insignificant.

  • Area 51 ALX - does not start after the BIOS update - still in warranty

I was preparing my Area 51 ALX for Windows 8 (pre-ordered and expect it to be here Friday) and decided to update the BIOS to the A10 A11. Back on and now it just sits here with no output monitor and my keyboard/mouse TactX™ is not illuminated either. Fans seem to be 100% / 70%. I tried to reset the CMOS and nothing. I'm just here? The office is still under warranty until next February, I believe. I am disgusted seriously now because I looked forward to Windows 8, "Painkiller hell &.

"and to get some done coding. What a a day of . Don't know if this can help my case but I have been a customer for a long time from the time of Dell before. Had an old P2 Area 51, bought the m11x at launch and was still in talks with Ross Anthony to make a site of 'history' (although never, he eventually happen). I'm sure that set my m11x Win 8 will not work because it is stuck on super old graphics drivers. Can someone from Dell please help me here? Also, if I'm , is it possible to simply replace the motherboard myself? There are lots of tips on eBay.

At this point, there is a strong chance that the motherboard is brick and needs to be replaced. Fact he complete the update of the BIOS and restart on its own, or force you the reboot?

Hi all!  I have an area 51 alx from ~ 2010 with a card mother stock.  I'm looking to replace the disks accompanying with a Samsung 850 Evo SSD.  SSD SATA3 and I'm fairly certain that the parent stock on my machine has only SATA 2 correct slots? My question is what can I do so that I'm not headed by the limit of 300 MB/s, which comes with 2 SATA?  What are my options?  I am currently struggling to get CC working in another thread on this forum (can be a hardware problem) and so a card mother update isn't out of the question.

I've added a section at the bottom of this post. Hope that helps or who gets at least help you get started in the right direction.

  • Area 51 ALX radiator 2009 montage

Hello everyone. I have an Area-51 ALX, I've been beefing up and now I'm looking to upgrade my cooling system because I'm overclocked to 2.6 4.7.  I'm looking at a H100i of Corsair I adapt and H110 Corsair, which is on sale for the same price, which is a little bigger.  I do not know my exact size so I was wondering if anyone knew this.  I intend to mount at the top and remove the plate.  Thank you!

H110 is 140mm, it does not work, your cage is 120mm, three 120mm fans fits. Here are pictures of my friends h100i, three fans upstairs, h100i staggers up to the determination of bolt holes.

She got fans 120 mm x 25 mm, then h100i, then a pair of 120mmx25 fans under him to push - pull. I did not, but I know you need to get the holes and your cooler to resolve so that your lower fans annoy your black UC, high threshold and mthrbrd from the top of the organizer of cable harness. I tried my 120x38mm rad - fan in the central point, but he got in the way of my 24pin mthbrd cable.

Anyway, until she or anyone else told u different, in a double top fan, staggers h100i & only four of the 8 screws can bolt in there, which is enuff,

If tri-fans up there, h100i staggers again, you use the same alignment of bolt (4 bolts, not 8) and this fan 3rd part of the burden shoulders with 1 fan. I have it?

If you don't fit h100i in a back and forth for a reason, a premium, regardless of space, your former uses of fan short stock 4 bolt for bolt in the old wheel, you can borrow the when bolting h100i to your cage top of page, if you need that is interesting to look into. I typed a quick message, it could be useful

    **********

    Edit: 2.20

Yes my friend, your first sentence, I was well aware of that, you can have the right information on h100i within the Area - 51 R1; However, this is a public forum: by telling you a little about the hoops that come with h100i I informing me the next people who stumble in this thread who themselves don't have any information that you have, but do not post a link to or expand, people who may be looking for information and I hope some of you find in our two - way conversation. If you knew that you could set up a configuration of three top fans was a qwestion open in my mind, I threw that in for you and other institutions if for no other reason. We stress the need eventually a fan inside the Area-51 controller as well as in such a situation: the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a good candidate, of course, among many others.

We would like to point out that h100i w / his software will be reqwire open a USB header on the stock x 58 mthrbrd. These tasks are currently filled in your & others I suppose. A work-around, East of the first three external usb @ the power on button @ the top forward, you could save the usb header that feeds only one of them (a usb header is a connector of the top-bottom row where the top row ostensibly runs a usb device while the bottom line is running a usb device 2: Area-51, a header manages two external albums) While the other runs the 3rd final port. Back one out to make room for h100i and lose their ability to run a 3rd external port or, find your way to integrate the 3rd top port in your h100i with its empty bottom connector... or integrate h100i into empty location of your 3rd port (return of the pins of a connector, install online open another connector, join them crude but effective) or try a usb expansion card as a unit to be autonomous (Nzxt IU01 or similar) or pci slot led so all your usb devices place within your area-51.

If you feel that you have all the information you need, then I feel bad for this edition, I'm here, since you can't find your way to your own thread here. If you need this information for a perfect installation of h100i, you will find here as well as all the others of course which I have tried to help w/basic info. Good luck to you & your Alien: If you find your way in here for any reason & see this change after your success in this thread to show the way for others, this is how we do it here. • Alienware Area 51 (ALX)

    Hello

I have an Alienware Area 51. I think that's not the ALX, but I'm not sure. I have a few questions:

    1. the Dell website does not recognize my service tag when I he returned in product support, my tag is the NOTE from the ADMIN: maintain the label removed according to the rules of confidentiality > (generated by the system Dell detects)

    2. I think that my collar closed not automatic, but how can I be sure? I see that somewhere?

    3. the active ventilation does not work correctly. 2 fins are not going up, they get stuck after one or 2 centimeters. They go down in the normal way. How can I fix?

    Thanks in advance

Remove the two side panel access doors. Remove your signs of topping top skinny black acrylic finish on both sides of the case so you can access to the fins, their hinges and screws. When you turn on, look to see what makes your 2 flippers paste. If you need to, "help" take off. Command center can open, active evacuation, have CC open the fins and close once or twice. Do test for bonding. Usually, it comes down to the torque of the screw end, or the torque of the screws of the trim panel. Unless of course you can see what is the cause of bind, as an obstacle.

You can try back a little torque on the screws of the fin on the 2 fins that stick. Reinstall the screws to the appropriate if - couple when they return to normal. Retest w/Command Center, open/closed. If everything is fine, reinsert the finishing trim panels and reinstall the screws, but not too tight just yet. Repeat the test with the command center to open the closed fins. Usually, the screws from trim to finishing nearest you for what purpose clings is the culprit, then tighten or loosen based on the question whether one of these tips have helped. As long as the finishing pad screw is almost tight, it will keep the filling and not make the stick of fin...

Basically, remove your doors case, remove the upper trim, power and go from there...

  • Questions from Area 51 alx command center

Hello everyone, I know this is a problem about 4 years ago but I would like to remedy once and for all.

A bit of history.  I had the Board replaced 3 or 4 times master IO.  After a last I kinda gave up on ever control work center.  Here is where I am: I run dell diagnostics and what is the MIO Board spent (to be kept for the door of the optical drive being faulty).  Events cycle, the lights work, fans run to the top.  Then I uninstalled command center, power off, unplugged for 30 sec ~, held the power button for 30 sec ~, rebooted, reinstalled and still the same issue.  He doesn't get to the tower.  I don't have any unknown devices listed under USB.  I have windows 7, A11, command center Version downloaded BIOS version: 2.8.9.0, A02-00 page of dell drivers and downloads.  It seems that I have microsoft .NET framework version 4.6.1.  I guess the last thing I have not tried a clean install of windows?  It seems that the jury is detected outside of windows, and it seems he has control of the case, but it will not work with the command center.  I'm willing to try anything.  I always liked the look of the fins upward on the case and I would like to have it back.

Here are some pictures of the diagnostic tests and the results: http://imgur.com/a/EwujG

PROBLEM SOLVED EDIT: Removed the bad part, which was the original conditions of over-current onboard MIO (in this case, it is the bluetooth).  If someone reads this trying to problem solve their own Council, LISTEN to CASS OLE! If I had followed their instructions earlier I could have saved them a lot of time and a lot of forum posts.  CASS Ole is wise.

Thank you cass and tesla for all your help.  I can't thank you enough for what you have helped me.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 from scratch on Area 51 ALX

    Hi again all,

So, I just bought a new area 51 R2 (not upwards and turns yet, but I'll be sure to change my signature to the new machine in due course!) and need to restore my machine with a fresh install of W7 before I sell it on.

My machine was purchased as a refurb almost new that I got from the selling company to install W7 to before they shipped it. I don't have a recovery partition or DVD (although even if I did, they would put Vista on), so I need to start from scratch. I have a W7 ISO and obviously valid an OEM key. This works because I had to do an excessive installation of W7 a few weeks ago that things started to go wrong.

I remember correctly see the instructions here on how to re - install from scratch, who went into the details on how to add drivers and in what order, but I can't seem to find it.

Can someone point my in the right direction? Thank you! :)

Let's assume that your Mio worked before the reinstall & still work afterwards, given that your case illuminate at least one color; I'd be willing to bet that cmndcntr expected on .net framework 4; If you have installed CmndCntr 2.08.11 while the version need. NET3.5 certainly.

  • Area 51 ALX video goes black once the machine is warming up

My second question concerns the reason why this computer was good for me.

When I first start the computer, it seems to work, but once video cards warm up (and they get really hot) video signal to cancel completely.  There is nothing to come to one of the DVI (there are 4 of them on the back of this machine, 3 active).  It will start working again after a hard reboot, but the signal is not always go to the port that I had been attached to.  In other words, I had to run after the video signal around the ports.  I also changed the power settings to prevent it from "sleep" for a long time, but this does not seem to have made all the difference.

I updated the bios to A10 and run several diagnostics show that the system works perfectly.  The system does not respond to the keyboard, but I don't know if it is really "locked" because I networked hard drive of ALX and was able to access a computer on my network even though the screen was black.  I copied things from him and him very well and if he is really blocked, he would not have answered at all, no?

If this sounds like something you treated, please let me know.  I have a few ideas to try this holiday weekend, but I'm open to other suggestions.  Thank you!

I suggest that you clean and check all fans (including those on video cards) and the radiator. Yes, video cards running more hot than the CPU, but they shouldn't be hot right on the Windows desktop.

Reposition the graphics cards, ram DIMM, all connectors power supply.

Test until do you fail, then troubleshoot

  • Area 51 ALX replacement graphics cards

    Hi all.

A lot of time since I've been here! Must have a machine without problem since I'm the last one here!

In any case, I hope someone can help me. Unfortunately, one of my HD5970 died. I run with a single card at the moment.

I would like to buy and install a new card / cards, but I have no idea what I could buy that would run modern games in high graphics settings. I wish they were (money allows it!) spec high as the 5970 Crossfire were where this machine was new, which would go with happiness as a straight swap in my machine.

I would rather stick with AMD Radeon and if possible, with Crossfire unless a single card will do the same high-end work these days!

Can anyone suggest something to upgrade who will work OK?

    Thank you! :)

Then, after getting my set up the back and purchased work GTAV HD5970 2 x. I suspect the GPU are probably strong enough to run the game, but 2 GB of memory is clearly not. I couldn't run THAT GTAV into something better than the graphics card settings decent half in 1440 x 900 before the graphics memory failed. He looks well. :-(

So, I decided to upgrade. I took the plunge with a 4 GB XFX R9 290 X reference (uses the same 8 & 6 pins power supply as the HD5970 cards) and apart from having to hit the power cables that powered the old two card put in place so that we're feeding the socket 8 pin and another feeds taking 6 pins, all is well and flies GTA in single monitor 1920 x 1080 at high or very high graphics settings.

    Happy for the moment. :-)

    Thanks for the help!
