Try this, on your BlackBerry.

Go to Options > Advanced > Service books.

Scroll to the service book entry "Desktop [SYNC]. Don't you see that one?

If so, scroll more to highlight (do not click)

Press Menu > delete.

Now reconnect your PC back > Desktop Software > device > restore > select data and highlight the data in the address book and select only to restore.

It works for you?

Lost my beloved 8330 with tons of data into it, but I have an old backup to a month using Blackberry Desktop Manager V 4.3.0.17.

Verizon wanted to know if I wanted to Android. No, I'm staying with Blackberry, so I got a new Blackberry Bold 9650.

BUT... big but Blackberry Desktop Manager seems to have no way to allow me to put this old backup of data in the new 9650.

    How is that possible?

    Hello

You should probably switch to a later version of the Desktop software. You can then use this KB:

  • Backup charger blackBerry Smartphones not really saved?

OK, so months ago, I downloaded the 4.5 software and decided I don't like it that much and I wanted to come back to 4.2. So, I downloaded and installed 4.2. He went through the entire process and everything back, but then restarting my phone he gave me a permissions are more restrictive error and said I had to restart. Ok. Well, once my phone was back on again... my contacts have DISAPPEARED and so were my calendar entries. My notes and my tasks were still there as well as photos, but not my calendar or contacts?

So, I went to an older version (too early) backup and restored this one... keeping in mind I still have the one tonight. I reinstalled 4.5 to see if she would come first... No.

So, what happened here? Can I get back them? Are they just 'hidden' somewhere on the backup charger tonight or something?

Help, please! I don't remember everything that was there (I have all my contacts back but, a couple are missing)... calendar entries are pretty important, but

    Thank you!

  • Backups of blackBerry Smartphones

When I backup my BB Torch 9800 on my MacBook Pro, why am I unable to open the file on my computer using MS Word or TextEdit? I would like to read the file to make sure that the date of the unit have been transferred correctly and completely.

Also, when I select the option to encrypt the backup file, the backup proceeds, but then I get a message saying that 289 files could not be backed up? Tracking information indicates that I have delete my BB device encryption in order for orphaned files to back up. But the encryption option is not on. What is the problem?

The Mac backup file is not readable with other software on your Mac. I know a PC application that will read, but not for the Mac. You can see MagicBerry by Menastep for that.

    Hello and welcome!

The backup file must be a .ipd. I don't know if it is also an itunes file extension or not (this is a question for Apple). You should probably make the backup again just to be sure.

Outside the RIM DTM software, there is no reason to try to launch an IPD file. The DTM software will allow you to navigate through your backup files and select them... but it's within the DTM software.

  • Peripheral backup error blackBerry Smartphones

I have a serious problem getting my camera to save. I'm not a novice with PC, but I need some help here.

I have a storm, were able to save very well until recently. My last backup was on June 1 and since then have not been able to solve my problem. When I connect the device and attempt to manually back up, it starts the process and stops each time when it is in "Options Bluetooth." It's always the same place that it stops and I get the dreaded "Unknown error" message. (Not very useful!) I installed the DM on a completely different PC software and I get exactly the same result. I have done battery pulls several times (even remove the battery) but to no avail.

The funny thing is, I've never used or even messed with the Bluetooth options. Strange.

    XP Pro on two PCs
BB Desktop Manager v4.7 on both
BB Storm OS - 148 (official release from Verizon)
Outlook 2K 7 on the first PC, 2K 3 on the second PC

I need quick help, so I'll step forward without a current backup. Please let me know if you need information about me.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I tried pairing with a bluetooth headset, also think that the option might work. He's not good. I also deleted the cache settings completely on the phone and browser data cache in the advanced options in the Desktop Manager backup settings. I did a battery pull several times at all stages, but nothing helped. I also tried to open the last good backup file, advanced options (file on the top left side) and replace the Bluetooth Options with the backup, but this option is grayed out and is not movable.

I have reset the device, a hard reset. What I've discovered, is that my situation was a little unique because I was getting the error message when performing backups in the same place, every time. Unfortunately, the "Bluetooth Options" database was empty, so I couldn't erase it, and is not a file that was crushed when I restore the old backup file which was good. No matter what I did, I can say I tried a lot of option, it would not clean up this corrupted database. I was able to restore from this backup and now the phone works properly and will backup correctly.

  • Backup of blackBerry Smartphones HELPS!

I am relatively new to the use of the BB 8830 and have been putting a ton of stuff in it.  Now, it makes me nervous if I lost my phone, all that will be lost?  I know that I can save the information... but after saving, it records in an IPD. folder and I can't open it.  How can I know that the information stored there safely?  And if I've lost my phone, can I transfer this information (contacts, calendar, tasks, etc.) all on a new phone?  Thank you very much!

That's where. Check the IPD file and make sure that it has a size that him.

You can open the Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > advanced and on the right pane will be your current device and the databases on the device.

In the left pane will be the backup file. If this isn't the case, tap file > open and find the latest IPD file and open it... you will see the item numbers in each database and its size.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I recover my blackberry protect data backup on a Mac?

My blackberry 9360 a curve was stolen a few days ago, I never it synced with my computer but I still saved on blackberry protect and I can access my data if I go to protect.blackberry.com and login with my blackberry ID. I see that my backup files exist but I can't download them and I can't get a new blackberry at the moment but I really need all my contacts and phone numbers, is anyway that I could retrieve this information on my macbook?

    Hello

BB Protect backup files are only single use... to restore to a BB device. It has no other use of them. Where the reason for which this BB Protect is a component very well to a good backup, but in no case should be considered to be the only component.

If you can access another BB, even for a short period, you can restore it and then save it on your computer, from which you can get 3rd party applications to extract the local backup data in human readable format. However, I've never heard of these tools for MAC... but also, I don't look for MAC stuff.

If you don't try this (restoration of BB Protect for an another BB), you must be very careful... to refer:

    • KB31489 BlackBerry Protect for BlackBerry smartphones does not display the backup files to restore

Welcome to the Forums of the BlackBerry Support

Regarding your backup problem, plug your device and run BlackBerry Desktop Software for windows in the office software click Devive > delete data > data choose selected > scroll social power database > mark it and whose losses. Once this part is deleted, try to perform a full backup.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to find BlackBerry backup voice note files?

I don't know where my BlackBerry backup files are?  If I find I can look to see if a series of voicenotes I did in October/November is there & can I restore these?

    Hello

Voice memos are not elements of database and therefore are not part of the backup procedure... see this:

    • KB03974 List of database for the blackBerry smartphone

These databases are what manages the backup process. With some versions of the Desktop software, you could include the content of the memory of the device... so if your voice memos were stored there, then they should thus be included in the backup file... and you had a selective memory of the device only restore to restore (keeping in mind that it will restore ALL the memory of the device not only the voice Notes).

You can use a drive IPD/BBB, part 3 on your PC... I heard good things about MagicBerry... to analyze your backup file to see exactly what it contains.

If the files in question are not contained in the IPD/BBB file and were not copied separately (for example, via the mass storage Mode) to the PC, then if they are also cleared from the BB, then files are unfortunately gone for good.

Overall, my own personal for my weekly Desktop software backup process is to make the backup with the desktop software, but then more, via the mass storage Mode, copy all the contents of my device memory and Media Card on my PC as well... just in case... you never know what might happen. Oh... and I included a manual backup of my BBM contacts to my media card as well.

    Good luck!

  • Need for blackBerry Smartphones to synchronize with MS Outlook backup the old files

    Hello

I'm kinda stuck with my Blackberry Bold 9700.  He wiped my old entries in the calendar (even though I have "Keep forever" selected in options), but I need the calendar last points because I used it for the follow-up of meetings, events, etc.

Before you reinstall an old backup, copy in Outlook and then re - install my current version is there any how else to get this info on the file backup and in Outlook.  I really want to install a previous version of the backup on my phone because when I do, he never wears on a large number of the phone ringing, settings, etc., and I still need to do to get things to normal.

    Help, please!

(By the way, I use an older version of the device software on my phone (5.0.0.714) because I can't stand display new calendar version.)

If you do want to restore a previous backup schedule, you can - calendar only, nothing else.

I don't know where this backup has gone and I now need to get this particular backup...

    Hi Lyner47

I am happy that you also use BlackBerry Protect for backups and I hope that you can also use it in the next few days.

BlackBerry Protect offers Remote backup and restore options, you can not open these files from backup, but you can restore these backup at any time to your BlackBerry.

For help, please refer to this Knowledge Base regarding the backup and also how to restore these data on our BlackBerry smartphone:

  • Backup BlackBerry Smartphones get BB protect compared to the clouds

    Hello world

I tried the manual backup yesterday by the site Web de Blackberry Protect. I successfully backed up the first time and made a few changes on my BB Curve 9300. Freed from some space by deleting messages and other data. I also want to return to the top of that State or to this specific point, I did the backup through the site Web of Protect. To my surprise (and I'm not aware) the new backup crushed my previous where in I need important messages I deleted expects that the backup will just create another set of backup rather than crush the other.

My question is. Are there opportunities that I can restore this backup?

After a few searches on Google and read messages. I knew that the backup is saved in the cloud that has lost the chances of recovering data backup with recovery tools that I can use.  I thought that if I can retrieve/recover deleted files and even formatted disks, technical staff of BB Protect or RIM could do the same and help me with my problem.

Hope my message reached the Cloud for RIM or BB Protect administrator.

    Thanks in advance.

    Anthony

Hello and welcome to the community!

First of all... this site is not a channel for any official communication with, support, or climbing to the RIM. This site is a community of users for volunteers who are trying their best to help each other, but we have no access to any system "back-end" to act on your request. If you really need official support from RIM, you must start with your support contract required string that starts with your mobile service provider, which can degenerate case RIM free of charge to the end user if such is always appropriate.

There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the original question, since you are not through the contract, you signed at the time of purchase. If you want to study, you can check it out here:

OK... with that of the road, see:

    • KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data on a BlackBerry smartphone

According to who, it should actually be different dates you can use BB Protect backups. If they are not, however, appear for one reason or another, they are not available to you through any means automatic... and you would need official support (above) of a human being to the RIM to see if it can be recovered.

All this said, I hope that you are not solely on BB Protect for your backup needs. BB Protect only back up (I think) 8 databases, which is a small subset of all the content of all of your valuable data. FYI, here's the process that I always recommend:

Daily - configure BB Protect to save what he can, preferring to WiFi if the network of consumer data carrier is a matter of concern.

    Weekly:

If you're not up to BBM7, then manually save your BBM contacts to the memory of your device or Media Card

    • KB20554 How to back up and restore the BlackBerry Messenger contacts list

Via the mass storage Mode, copy all the contents of the memory of your device and Media Card on your computer

    • KB11879 What is the mass storage mode

Via the desktop software, perform a full backup of your BB

    • KB12487 How to back up data from smartphone BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
    • KB03974 List of database for the blackBerry smartphone

    There is an old saying:

    • There are two types of computers of users of devices - those who have lost data and those who will be

As insurance, the backups are reactive or an optional activity. And this process, in my humble OPINION, provides the best protection of all the valuable data that is kept on their BB. When you compare BB Protect backup actually compared this process to protect, I think you will find that the difference is very large. In addition, this process would give you 100% control to keep the previous backups.

    Good luck!
