Bad to worse.

Hi all

Therefore, not only on my T520 nVidia card Control Panel fails to work, but safe mode isn't either. She gets stuck in a loop of reboot for reasons of memory. The last known configuration using boot I can get it to start normally, but drivers/network cards do not work. They are detected in Windows 7, but ipconfig provides only Tunneling adapters.

Any ideas? Or should I just send for repair?

Well, a little strange to news, it turns out that she was left on the remains of my Comodo Firewall, which was taking its toll on my network cards. Uninstall the "helper" released connections.

Now I just need to get the job of nVidia control panel, and it's going to be the machine, I've always dreamed.

  • Why TB does not freeze when I click on account settings? (Goes from bad to worse!)

A few days ago, I posted a question about migration backup emails in TB. I got help, but not a definitive answer to my problems. Unfortunately, my wife and I seem to have created an additional problem which must be resolved before we return to the issue of migration of file. Now, TB freezes when I try to check the settings of an account. This may be due to our attempt to copy an old e-mail folder (file .sbd), in my current profile. That's how it happened:

We copied a saved .sbd folder to
    C:\Users\FF\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\pnp8j2nf.default\Mail\Local records
We have not seen any change in TB.

Then, in TB, we created a folder under local folders, giving it the same name as the .sbd that we had copied. The content become so visible in TB.

When I tried to check the settings of an account, TB has frozen. Restart TB did not help. Then we tried to go back to our previous steps by deleting the folder newly created in TB and .sbd file in local folders. I restarted TB and PC, but TB still freezes when we try to check the account settings.

Think that we could have corrupted profile, we also renamed the 8 character profiles .default under C:\Users\FrankF\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles and C:\Users\FrankF\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles, hoping TB would generate a new profile, but now the TB does not start without the profile.

We wonder if we should remove profiles.ini or remove its contents to force TB to create a new profile. Any advice on which are originally the gel and how to fix? Thanks in advance.

Apparent victory! I copied my saved files (trrevilc.default) to

    C:\Users\FF\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles and edited profiles.ini, changing -

    TO

    [Agroalimentaire1]
    Name =PlanetXP
    IsRelative = 1
    Path = Profiles /trrevilc.default

and Voila! my darlings old emails and accounts reappeared... even though I have an e-mail account w a problem.

I'm still wondering (after I backup C:\Users\FF) the best way to remove the other profiles. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again.

  • from bad to worse - security issues

Has disappeared about a week after having tried to fix iTunes or when I got the new Adobe. Cannot install or uninstall SE - says it is on an unavailable network resource - I don't have a network configuration. So I thought I'd get Defender to have at least some protection, but it will not let me install: says remove customer protection... have no idea what they are talking... I see now that the Defender is less valuable than SE - but heck, I need protection for my system. How can I get Defender installed?

I don't know what you mean by SE.  If you mean Microsoft Security Essentials, I recommend posting your question in the Microsoft Security Essentials: getting started and upgrading forum.

    Hello

My son came back from uni with his laptop which, to quote ' is knacked - no idea what the problem - been like that for weeks...» »

At startup, it goes to the green bar of process, then goes off, then comes up with the BSOD - technical details: Stop:

    0 x 00008086 (0x00000000) (0x00000000) (0x00000000) (0x00000000)

(I would provide more information, if I could, but can't until I can start to check specifications)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

BSOD can be caused by a hardware or software problem.
First of all, you should check if it s not software related issue.
In such cases, it of needed to reinstall the Windows operating system.
Usually the new OS installed should not cause any BSOD!

If the Toshiba Recovery disk does not help you, then you should start to investigate
It may be a cause of modules defective memory BSOD issue very often.

However, if you have no knowledge about computers, then you should ask a technician to downtown to control parts.

  • Fan continues to run

I have a HP G70 120EA with windows vista Basic.

The fan on my laptop running constantly at full. Usually the fan works intermittently throughout the day and is usually quiet, but right now, it runs non-stop. The laptop isn't overheating and performance is not affected, but the fan should not be run as this the

I installed an update of the BIOS but that did not solve the problem, can someone help me?

If you have had your system for at least 6 to 12 months, then it's to the point where it is probably enough dust and particles have put in the fans and filters and ducts begin to affect the temperature of system operation. If your fan runs constantly, it is more likely, especially if you don't have not kept the contributions and blown exhaust every two weeks or more. Laptops can draw in a lot of dust and dirt, especially for the people who use them on their "towers" and not on a surface hard as required to ensure ventilation and aeration. The contributions of the laptop fan are on the bottom, the exhaust usually in the back corners. No matter how clean your environment may be, clothing & skin particles, hair, dust, dirt, you name it and it will get finally inside your system. For most laptop computers, depending on the size, happens between 6 and 18 months, usually about 12-16, until they begin to have problems because of the dirt and debris inside heating. Generally, the system, faster it builds, but it also depends on how many times it is used.

Particles and fibers of clothing are especially a problem, and also why you should never use your laptop on your lap. One, it blocks the water intakes and two most of the clothes are made of a mixture of cotton, cotton is a great heat insulator and something you do not want inside your system. Bare skin is as bad or worse, because it contains particles of skin, hair, and other things that you don't normally see that can enter your system.

You can try first blowing the contributions and exhausts - they'll be obvious dust around them. Blow it when the unit is running. Realistic but, ultimately you have to shoot the cover and keyboard to pass inside to do a good cleaning/rash to accomplish real. If your fan is where it is to run all the time, then you're already at this time here.

There is a common HP Support newsletter which is linked to the Page to support your system and many other systems which covers this issue:

Reduce heat and the fan noise by cleaning the air vents

The fan runs constantly, the PC is running more slowly than expected and generates heat

To remove the cover and the entire keyboard, the library of HP Services shows you the procedure and a video demo on exactly how to execute the instructions to remove and replace the different FRU (CRUS). While it doesn't specifically tell you how to perform preventive maintenance functions (something that I suggested that they add), you can use it to remove the cover and remove the keyboard to switch to the fans and ducts to blow off the dust.

It's really not as hard as you might think. The done key to keep a good which screws go where, and for novices, there are some easy ways to do so.

    1. some use a muffin Pan - I don't personally like them as a professional. All it takes is for you, your child, you dog, cat, lizard, whatever, Knock off the table and that you're "screwed" literally while you die in agony, I look at each screw you have removed go flying in all directions.

2 parts case - use a medium of plastic parts, number them with a marker and write on paper where screws for each numbered compartment. Leave the cover on the door closed while you work. Better, but still not great.

3 Ribbon and paper - my favorite. Get a roll of blue tape of 2 ". Detach a strip long enough to cover a piece of paper or poster board and bend back the ends, tape on the surface with the sticky side. On the paper/cardboard, note the location of the screws etc and paste each screws/part of the band. When you remove them, sticky substance does not stick, but it is strong enough to hold small pieces very well.

Of course I did it for so many years I do not use anything but my memory, because they are all pretty much the same. But if you never did, using one of these systems can really help you to avoid a catastrophe.

Air - use air canned and have at least 2 or 3 boxes available and be in a room that has a fan to blow off the dust outside or at least away from the system. USE a vacuum cleaner on any electronic system - laminar airflow at the end of the nozzle does NEVER extremes of static electricity that can literally destroy components. ESD rated vacuums are very expensive, so don't even think about it. Non-conductive tips are not as effective either - it is best to avoid completely, but you can use them at a distance to suck all the dust you ripped. I have always used a HEPA filter or a fan to blow out the dust or vacuum dust of any system I've been working on at the time, so it's not aspire back when I am done.

I say having more than one can air because the propellant becomes useless after about 30 seconds of spray, until it warms up again. Unless you want to spray and keep in waiting, so many in order to use one, then another one like the other retrieves.

Make sure you only keep your system connected to an electrical outlet also while you do this - you don't want it powered of course, but have plugged it into a grounded outlet gives you better ESD protection when working within a system. Never touch an exposed electronic component unless it is on his side, or if you're also well grounded.

You must also download and install HWMonitor, a monitoring program internal system convenient and widely used. It measures the temperatures of all the key components and fans. You can get it on http://www.CPUID.com

This, you should get repaired. I know that this seems to be a chore, but it is easier than you might think and a lot cheaper (and safer) that leave some bozo at best buy or somewhere else you charge hundreds of dollars for it, and you can bet money they'll find something else elsewhere just dust.

  • ProBook 4430 s Boot problems

    Hello

    I have a HP ProBook s 4430 running Windows 7.

A couple of weeks, I got a blue screen crashes and it seemed to corrupt a part of windows as windows (among other programs) Explorer wouldn't start automatically. I had to start explorer.exe from the Task Manager after the connection. I have searched the forums and tried all the tips/patches, but to no avail.

I decided to simply reformat the computer and get back to the basics. This is where things went from bad to worse.

My HP did not come with a Windows CD or a backup CD, and I have not one when I bought it (I've traveled across India at the time). All forumns advised to use HP Recovery Manager or press F11 at startup to access the partition of the hard drive recovery. (D: in my case). My computer doesn't seem to have the Recovery Manager and F11 does nothing to start. Setup does not change how he arrived at the factory, it should always be there.

Exacerbated, I changed my D: to 'active' to try to boot from the recovery disk... this stuffed all this. Unfortunately, now my computer does not start (it is said there is no OS on D.)

Then... of ideas? Is my only hope of order recovery disks from HP? do some work? Is it possible to change my boot from D: drive to C: without Windows help? I can't find options like that in the HP Start menu I can access.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi Samuel,.

Here's another solution, that you can use to reinstall Windows 7.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be of the same exact version of Windows 7 that originally came with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • can I download a "boot drive" for HP Pavilion laptop g6, product #: B0N33PA #ABG?

My laptop failed to update graphics card. I have tried reintalling and installation of different ways a few times with no success. I tried a roll on the last good parameter twice in a row, and since then it has gone from bad to worse.  Now once the computer has windows 7, I get the BSOD. That I can download or buy a boot disk, so I can start over?

Name of product: notebook PC HP Pavilion g6

    Serial number: [redacted]

    Product number: B0N33PA #ABG

    Hello

If you want to reload the operating system, here are some options.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They also recreate the original scores, including the recovery Partition - the cost varies a bit depending on where you live, but they are generally inexpensive.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc 'detail '.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

  • Technical question of indexation of Spotlight search

I wonder about how the spotlight indexing process occurs and if maybe it's the cause of the problems of start and stop and the kernel panics.

When live, I got used to print some articles in PDF format for later reading offline - or when I get the chance.  In November I started going through many articles and deleting or filing - and in the case of their deposit - I was deleting pages that were released just junk, so I did that article.

If the PDF files have been indexed for content when I moved to different folders - or altered and saved - and if all goes well index deleted when I deleted them - would it have caused a problem when I stop this process.

I got a stop where the system remained in market (light on mac pro 2008) but not asleep - then force a shutdown.   I had a tension where the projector showed that indexing - for about 10 seconds - without report.

The console logs showed messages that a process completed- and kernel panic with no ID is.

So is indexing made by MDS and MDS worker - and how will I know when indexing is complete prior to the stoppage.

I changed the spotlight preferences to search only files - removed all the rest - but will they even indexed.

And why - if the work must be done before the power off - Apple is not only to display a message on the screen!

As the first users think seem to complain after an update - how to slow their macs (really busy busy) are - if it's just a bad thing worse.

I'm on Snow Leopard - on Mac Pro 2008

Additional information - I always stop after use as no point in leaving a system on when only used a few hours a day.

My DirectoryService.error.log shows that inadequate completely new closures in 2008.

Standard use - after - as the power outlet Strip which is controlled by a wall switch - I cut that.

Something was still running and stop feeding ended this work - only that he might be the index - which I really do not use for detail on a PDF unless I want to scan something while it is open.

I am now waiting the minute 1 stop & look at the light of itty bitty on the front of the tower to use it is over.

My drive is less than 50% of the full - last cleaning was to make sure that it stays like that.

  • CyberLink you cam

I have a HP dv7-6c95dx. I am unable to use the webcam, because everythime I opened the Cyberlink Youcam software, I get the following message:

"Wanrning: no webcam detected." Try connecting a webcam on your computer now. If you are using a built-in camera, sure that ut is in market".

I can't turn it on, and when I go to Device Manager to reinstall the drivers, it does not appear. I have already tried to reinstall the program and have failed. Is there a way to fix this without sending it to the shop.

    ASRA,

    Welcome to the HP Forum!

Difficulty webcam without sending the shop: Yes... maybe not.

There are only a few things you can do about it on the software side.

    See:

    Webcam troubleshooting (Windows 8)

What happens if the Webcam is DOA, dead, move not?

The problem is with the little tiny and delicate wires that connect the camer (in the cover) for the rest of the computer - in the base.  Little son can be caught, crushed, broken or damaged.

I heard a member of the Forum that claimed that he fixed its webcam in striking his computer - NOT recommended.  In his case, the wire has apparently been fixed or twisted and striking the computer potted everything back together.  We're more likely to make a bad situation worse if violence is used - even once, do not hit your computer.

I got webcams last for eight years and still going strong, and I had a laptop in which the webcam was broken when I removed the computer of its delivery box.  (I sent the laptop to HP and it was quickly resolved).  It just depends...

I suspect that the repair is not terribly expensive.  You can check with HP or your reputable repairman.

  • T500 completely scrambled discrete graphics

My T500 has developed a serious problem with the video of the graphic interface is completely corrupt.

I tried on the features of dual screen with my L170p monitor. As I used it, I noticed a video corruption, particularly on applications slipped between the views. Finally, I decided that it is not really me anyway, and so I minimized the 2 display resolution (800 x 600) and disabled the option "extend my Windows desktop on this monitor.

However, corruption has continued and I decided to restart it. However, before I could, the machine gave a BSOD that was mostly unreadable. Reboot, the Windows XP splash screen was also altered; I tried to use the Fn + F7 to switch to the external display, but it was no better. Try to connect fingerprint BSOD machine'ed - this text is unreadable, but I saw the word '' parity '' in there. From this point, it went from bad to worse. Connect the external display and try to get the BIOS with the F1 to the ignition, I could see a text there, but it is mostly illegible and overlapping with lots of video noise and the vertical bars cyan, flashing boxes of all colors, etc..

Somehow, I managed to do enough to get the BIOS to switch to the built-in graphics card and was able to boot Windows and install the Intel graphics driver, so the machine is little functional again.

However, go back to "discrete graphics" gives the same problem: no video on the internal LCD screen, only scrambled on the external monitor. If I allow Windows to start with discrete graphics, TI BSOD with an unreadable screen for the most part, but it seems to speak to shut down Windows to avoid damaging the material and the word 'conflict' is here, too.

Configuration: T500 type 2081-CTO, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP SP 3, fully updated with drivers

Display of the BIOS settings (all other settings are default):

    Main default video device: internal

    Initializing display: Thinkpad LCD

: Initially graphics discrete graphics, now integrated Graphics

OS detection for switchable graphics: disabled

I wondered if the bi-ecrans mapped configuration somehow ATI video RAM so that it comes into conflict with the top of that 4 GB of RAM. Remove a 2 GB DIMM has not helped. However, once the machine has restarted successfully with Windows, the ATI driver has not been loaded (as the discreet graphics card has been disabled) and so perhaps all that has been mapped has not been not mapped? However, I expect memory graphic mapping be reset to zero at the start anyway. And since the video is so completely that screwed up at startup, it is resembling more a permanent hardware failure, in which case the machine back under warranty.

Are there any other suggestions on how to proceed?

    Best regards

The machine came back last Friday - the technology has replaced the video chip, as well as the keyboard, for some reason any. He had also installed Vista x 64; I tried to learn to love it, I really have, but after a few days, I have decided that the benefits outweigh the problems of compatibility, I got with my (admittedly old) version of Lotus Notes. So I reinstalled XP Pro and everything is now back to normal - although I'm not willing to try the external chart again on this machine.

Before doing all this, what is your status of backup? You have Time Machine or a clone of your hard drive? If this isn't the case, it may be best to do nothing until you are able to see if you can find a way to save your data if things go from bad to worse.

That said, assuming you are running OSX 10.5.8 (like on your profile) or Snow Leopard (according to the guidelines of this forum), have you tried starting restoring 1 gray disc that came with the Mac or the Snow Leopard installation disc? Insert the startup disk by holding down the c"" key. You may need to push the disc for the CD/DVD drive so that it can swallow the disk when you start if you can't get the Mac to accept the drive in its current state.

If all goes well it will boot from the gray disk, although slowly. Once started go to the Menu utilities > disk utility. Launch disk utility, select Macintosh HD and click on "repair disk". If changes are made click on repair disk again and repeat until you get a clean pass. Once that is done, try to restart normally in the Apple menu.

  • option not iOS 9.2 caused all the music offline to disappear and "make available offline".

iOS 9.2 caused all the music offline to disappear - where the option "make available offline"?

The worst part of this is that iOS 9.2 was supposed to solve problems by making playlists in offline mode. This update is a disaster! All the playlists or albums that I try to do in offline mode are partially downloaded... Apple music is going from bad to worse.
