Black Sun on desktop

After installing updates to SP3 of XP a black curve (1/4 circle) appeared in the lower right of my screen.  It resembles a black sun.  I can't find what is the cause or how to get rid of.  It completely blocks the clock area.  I have re-installed SP3 and it changed nothing. I have a veiwsonic monitor and a generic PC.  Help, please!

Hi cher2000,

I agree, it sounds like a hardware problem. If you are able to and do not already have, connect the monitor to another computer to see the problem persists.

    Hi people.

Don't know if Windows 7 has simplified our PC as Microsoft would have us believe. I spent the last two days trying to understand why my L550 has suddenly square black on my desktop icons.

What happens after the installation of Microsoft, application of a software patch updates for a HP deskjet 5150 printer. To be honest, I'm more sure when this nuisance hits me.

Resolution true color (32 bit) upward in color (16 bit) downgrade rid my icons of black squares. Should I therefore settle for a lower resolution when my laptop can do better? Any workaround yet?

    Thank you

    Hey, Mambo,

What exactly are you installing if you visit the Windows Update page? Maybe you install a different display driver that isn't compatible with the graphics card.
    Check this box!

Also, make sure that the new display on the site of Toshiba driver is installed.

Is the software patch for your printer that is compatible with Windows 7?

  • Dell Vostro 220 s turn on but only show black screen on desktop

My 2008 late model Dell Vostro 220 s desktop with power on and go while the start and shows windows starting but when it will go on the desktop, it will just show a black screen. Any help would be nice!

    Thank you

    Darian C.

You can try to start your 220 s in VGA mode (video low resolution).

To start your computer in low video mode resolution, follow these steps:
    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.
    2. hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.
    3. in the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select Activate video low resolution (640 × 480)and press enter.

If the problem is not reappear low resolution mode, then the question is probably associated driver. You may be able to resolve this problem by updating the video driver with the latest version of Dell or Intel.

  • Pavilion dm3t problem screen Black/Sun

Yesterday the screen has all of a sudden "dim".  Long story short:

-C' is a little dm3t-1000 laptop less than a year. Windows 7 Home Edition.  Light to moderate use. Rarely, he leaves the House.

-the machine starts up and seems to work very well, but I don't see a very, very, very dim image on the screen.

-connect an external VGA monitor works, but the rest computer screen dim no matter what configuration.

-change of software than recent was installing HP MediaSmart 3 days before the problem started. I had several reboots and the machine worked correctly until the dimming problem started.

-J' tried all the troubleshooting tips including clicking on all the brightness keys, ensuring that bios has been updated, hard reset, etc.  Nothing seems to help.

Suggestions before I try to official support?   It has been a great unit far :-(

  • Black/white screens in FSX

    Hi all

A small problem that I hope someone can help with it please...

    What I did:
Install a third of the aircraft.

    What happened:
    (1) the area on the main screen where the preview plane normally displays is now empty; and
    (2) the main window (cockpit etc.) is also empty.

It worked perfectly until I added the new aircraft (which I subsequently deleted). Problems began after I had run the Add-ons in FSC and them designated as "of trust" (according to the guidelines of this http://www.fsinsider.com/tips/Pages/TrustandVerify.aspx).

    My system:
    Six weeks old Dell Studio
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (realize isn't the best technology, she has already worked well)
    15.6 "720 p WLED (1366 x 768)
    FSX Deluxe (all to date)

    So far I've tried:
    -Switching between modes full screen and windowed mode (this causes the screen just flashes between white and black and the desktop);
    -Setting of the resolution;
    -Reduce the variables available in ATI CCC (anti-aliasing etc.);
    -Updated all my drivers (who were all to date);
    -A clean boot.

    None of these solutions worked.

I'm quickly running out of ideas and have not been able to find anything else useful online. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you very much

  • Black screen after the resumption of the mode standby

Hello... I see other forums that this problem is not uncommon. But I have to solve if possible. I just bought a Lenovo ideapad mid - Oct. I have no virus and an active antivirus program running.

I have Win 7 64-bit Home edition. When I try to wake my computer from sleep mode, it shows the "recovery of the windows" message and things seem to be going forward, but then the screen never goes black on my desktop with icons. The only way I can get to my office is to close and restart.

    Any ideas?

In addition to suggestions of karena, try the following:

Start your computer in safe mode, the screen is still blank.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are able to log, and then execute the command SFC /SCANNOW. This will check and repair if necessary all of the critical Windows system files.

  • Satellite U840W - clicking the icons/applications - nothing happens

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite U840W-10J, have had for about 20 months without no problems so far. Without warning and apparently at random times, my laptop loses its ability to launch any application. If I select an application icon from the menu start/work station or to a file in a folder, nothing happens. Applications that are already open when the problem affects work very well, if I close them I can't reopen. My office then goes black and my desktop icons disappear, everything except the Recycle Bin.

I can only restart the computer by pressing the power or by using CTRL + ALT + DELETE key. My laptop is restarted it will then work as usual for a period of time before the same thing happens again. I use Windows 8.1 and I have McAfee Internet Security installed. The problem started about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas or support would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Iwan

According to your message the laptop together problems might arise due to some malfunction of the system/software... I think that no one will be able to tell what is the problem with preinstalled system, but you can try to solve the problem of cleaning the registry and operating system.

    How?

I could recommend one freeware tool called CCleaner... this software was already mentioned in the different forum discussions and it helps you to clean the registry and remove the temporal files stored...

In the event that this software does not help, try to repair the system using Windows 8.1 repair solutions: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm
The "Refresh" option could be the key here...

But in the worst case, if you would not be able to resolve the problem by using the "refresh" option, then you could try to recover the laptop using the Toshiba HDD recovery... "Reset your PC" would be the next possible step...

  • Reduction of the noise (white noise) synthesizer

    Hey,.

I was wondering if someone could help me to reduce my sample of synthesizer noise: Black Sun, found in [synthesizer > soundscape > Black Sun]

I feel that I can not change it for a reason because I tried different methods of noise reduction, some of them include:

    * Modify the 'smart controls' and EQ.

It was frustrating to watch YouTube videos a lot of different methods, because they seemed to all have a similar solution that would solve the question of a recording (voice / instrument). I just used this sample that I put in place in the section of piano with a few midi controllers roll (iRigs Drumpad, Axiom 25 and Korg nano key 2)

I'm willing to start any suggestions that anyone might have for me.

  • Mac Mini (2014) blurred or central off-screen

    Hello

I'm having a very difficult time for my Mac Mini to 2014 appears correctly on both a small Magnavox (2008) HDTV (that I'm trying to 'reuse' for use with the Mac Mini) and my 46 '' Sharp Aquos. When I use a HDMI cable to HDMI (sold by Apple) the text is extremely blurry. After some research on Google and read many articles, I decided to concede and buy everything just a crush on VGA cable on Amazon. The problem with the crush to USB is that it works in 50% of the time without problem, but the other 50% of the time, I wake up the Mac and the screen remains black, or the desktop 2 "to the right and down (leaving a strip 2" black on the left and the top of the screen). The problem is solved by unplugging the shape of love at first sight on the back of the Mac and reseating the cable (with Sharp TVs both Magnavox).

I prefer not to spend money on a new monitor if possible. I have friends and family who use TVs as displays for their mini Mac or other Mac that do not have the problem. I tried to turn the sharpness all down on broadcasters suggested in the number of threads without result (using the HDMI cable).

This post seems useful (and I found his humorous commentary on Apple), but a little complicated, and that's a MacBook Pro to monitor Dell.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. My preference would be to use the HDMI cable if possible.

    Thank you!

VGA is a horrible connector often must set the position on the screen itself because the computer it is analog have no idea

DVI - i (d) is much better in this respect make you you set the native resolution display it is or it will be always blurred (unless you define in a resolution of modulo 2 as 800_600-> 1600_1200 and visa versa)

TD; Dr. If hdmi is blurry that you use the wrong resolution, so vga is off center so it's the pet peeve of the vga and there is no real cure apart from setting in the view menu / distance

  • Screen display

When I start the display shown moved about an inch to the left leaving a black line on the right side of the screen. All the icons are now small and all the boxes that come up.

I tried to restore and successive attempts, he return day, week and month have failed to produce any results.

A week ago I downloaded the updates of windows and restart of the entire screen was black with a desktop of small windows in the middle. That's when I did the first restoration.

I also did a disk full cleanup and verified fraging was not necessary. Strangely, the auditing was going on the info box Eurorest (disc 1 of 3) (2/3)(3 of 3) I have only two hard drives so where's the third hidden away?

Sorry to be a pain, I'm not a genius where computors are concerned, but at the same time I'm not completely stupid. Suggestions to help solve the poblem would be welcome.

    Christypits

    Hi christypits,

Have you thought to check your monitor? Try to dig your user guide for the monitor and search for the setting menu. It is perhaps that the vertical alignment is not correct. Most monitors have an 'auto' option that automatically sets the horizontal and vertical alignment.

The problem you describe happened to me several times and in all cases, the problem was the alignment of the screen. A quick reset in the menu of the monitor soon put on track alignment.

I'm not saying that that's the problem in your case, but it is better to check everything.

  • Installed new module memory for laptop, found original was bad, while windows Vista does not start by going blank after the "status bar".

I have a Windows Vista running on a Sony VIAO laptop and has been updated with level 3 to 4 GB of memory. During the memory test, I found that 2 GB of original module was bad and replace it with the new 2 GB module end back where I started with 3 GB. However, Windows starts only at a little past the rectangle with 3 points moving ("State Bar"?) and them it goes to black and the desktop never appears. I tried to roll back to the last working version of Windows settings, but always the same results.

What can I do now? Is there a way to check and fix disk errors?  Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro or I have to go to Windows 7.  I even has System Mechanic Pro running on this laptop and it did help some casued the problem. It's as if the disc is damaged for some reason any.  Only with Vista felt this helpless.

It seems to me that the new memory you have installed is bad or incompatible with the system.  First, remove all chips and reinstall them and then try to make sure that they are correct and secure again - don't just press them in place, effectively remove and the replacement and make sure they are in the right direction.

Boot from the Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc (or you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc with recovery options included in this topic. If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps made on another computer, or perhaps in SafeMode with network if it does not - that would be a good sign if it is true). You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  Select recovery options and follow the instructions until you see the menu.  Once there, select the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and run it and see what it says.  If it detects problems (and I suspect it might), you may need to replace the new chip memory.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try other options.

    Good luck!

  • replacing hard drive for Pav P7-1240 & SSD

Part 1: I have a desktop computer Pavilion P7-1240. It is just 1.5 years... 1 TB Hitachi hard drive has not now.  I went out and bought a WD 1 TB Caviar Black internal Performance Desktop retail hard drive Kit (WD1003FZEX); go mainly for the guarantee of 5 years... the rest of the features seemed to match (3.5 ", 7200, 1 to, SATA 6) except the WD a 64 MB cache, the Hitach did not state on the player the amount of cache.  Will this swap drive out like for like or any other change in the drivers, etc. should be done?

Part 2: I would like to install a 128 GB SSD in the P7 as the main OS drive.  What changes should be made so that the system recognizes the additional disk.  I tried to plug into the SATA4 slot and the power cable, but the system did not not recognize/see the SSD drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated for these two.   Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I return the drive and get a non-advanced HD format.  This way your recovery media, HP will work. If you do not create the external HP recovery media then contact HP support and order media.

In addition I send back the SSD and order 240 + GB model so that the support of HP recovery will allow a restoration works.  If you decide to go with this option, then keep the hard drive for now.  It may be "well-prepared" once you have Windows 7 running with the latest updates. At least BIOS settings have been tampered with then the SSD is probably dead.

While there may be other ways to get your PC up in the race without using the HP recovery media, this can and has led to confusion later when start HP function keys do not work properly.

    Original title: battery

When the battery dies on Windows 7 Home premium, what makes the look of the laptop screen as to everyone with the same computer? (IE black, dim and then black, dim and white and then black, Sun & blue, etc.)
And you always get the "Windows did not shut down correctly, please choose an option (safe mode, safe mode with network, start windows normally)" Note?

It could be a hardware problem, so it is best to contact DELL or a local technician if the problem persists.

As a work around, I suggest to update the drivers of the computer display and check if it makes a difference.

    Thank you
    Sandeep combes

    Hi Sandeep,

    1. have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

    2. when exactly this question produce?

Explorer.exe is the program component that provides Windows Shell. Windows shell or Explorer creates and presents the entire user interface or the appearance of the notification area (system tray) of the Windows operating system, including the taskbar, desktop, Windows Explorer, start menu, dialog boxes and interface controls.

I suggest that you check if the value of the windows shell is set by default, if so, try renaming.

    a. in the Task Manager, click file, new Task (Run).

    b. in the run box type regedit.exe dialog (open 'regedit')

    c. navigate to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon\

    d. in the right pane, check if the Set "Shell" = "Explorer.exe".

(If the setting is correct then rename the file explorer.exe in explorerCOPY.exe.)

Restart the computer and then try to start Explorer.exe in Task Manager and check if it helps.

Important: problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For extra protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up the registry, click the following link.

    Back up the registry: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

For your reference: Why is my screen black when I start Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/why-is-my-screen-black-when-i-start-windows-7

Note: When the computer is in safe mode, System Restore does not restore points. Therefore, you can not undo a restoration you performed when the computer is in safe mode.

For all windows questions do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you.

  • The latitude E6400 LCD is dim/dark

I have a Latitude E6400 with Vista. When I boot, I see the bios and the running of State Bar. as soon as it starts at the window, the screen goes black/sun. I can still see, but it is very very light. It doesn't matter if it is on battery or AC is fine when I plug in an external display. I tried key fn and arrow making, but which was useless. could the backlit feature on the LCD is dead? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am facing exactly the same problem with my computer laptop studio 1555. My research on line up to tell me that this is very probably the inverter which is bad.

The fact that it has very low picture indicates that the screen is probably ok.

A possible culprit is the hinge switch that turn off the screen when folded down. If this does not work when you lower and open on the external screen, my guess is that the switch is probably ok.

The third possibility is the backlight ccfl lamp. What I generally find people reporting is that the screen begins to turn red before the ccfl lamp turns off. If we do not face that then the lamp should probably be ok.

I'll order a new card of the inverter and replace it and pray with my fingers crossed.
