Call Home in UCS 2.1

When the political configuration of Call Home to define the type of messages that I want to receive, it is necessary to disable the types that I don't want?

By default, the list of strategies is empty, but configuration guide Cisco by default, indicates "all Call Home policies are allowed to ensure that e-mail alerts are sent to all critical events in the system." Does this mean that I have to cancel each policy one by one, if I don't want to get the message?

I'm only curious to see problems on the failure of the configuration.

Thank you.

Yes, you are right... If there is an alert, that you do not want to receive, then you will need to create and set it to "disabled". Just be careful not to disable those who may represent a lost communication alert.

  • Question about Call-Home

    Omniscient contributors!

I call home configuration on our system, and I see that we need installation profiles. I inherited this system and the default profile is configured, and it seems to have only the alert 'Normal' group are entrusted to him. According to the literature, it seems to me that only the authorized system information are sent. Can anyone confirm this? If I seek only to see the material and environmental issues (thermal, failures of memory/PSU) which groups of alerts can I set up?

    Thank you

    Joe

There are two parameters involved here:

    Level of field

Flaws in Cisco's UCS that are greater or equal to this level will raise the profile. This can be one of the following:

    Criticism

    Debugging

    Disaster

    Fatal

    Main

    Minor

    Normal

    Notification

    Warning

    Groups of alerts field

The group or groups which are alerted based on this profile Call Home. This can be one or more of the following:

    Cisco TAC

    Diagnosis

    Environment

    Inventory

    License

    Life cycle

    Line card

    Supervisor

    Syslog port

    System

    Test

If you want to just receive material and the environment, verify that the group "environmental" alert.

If you select normal, you will get Minor, Major and so on.

  • Implementation of the call home help

    Hello

So I'm trying to set up notifications by e-mail to one of our UCS configurations and I run into some questions, or rather, I'm not sure what im up against.

I would like to paint a picture and see if someone can help me understand what's wrong.

I'm under the asumption that Call Home can be configured internally, without having to communicate with cisco, in order to receive email alerts whenever there are problems in the system. (the cisco assisted by an intelligent call home, that im not interested at the moment). Is it a correct assumption?

Requirements for the establishment of appeal asking conectivity ip between the interconects tissue and the smtp server. Currently the fabrics and the mail server are on different VLANS, however we have access lists to allow traffic through VLANs smtp. In addition, there are precedents of other servers on the same vlan as the tissues by communicating with the smtp server to send notifications. Thus, it is confirmed that such traffic flows between the two VLANs.

    So on until the configuration.

On the general tab for call home my email is on the email field coordinated as well as in the From and reply to fields. The ip address of the smtp server and port 25 are also specified in the corresponding section.

Tab theres 3 defautl profiles (CiscoTAC-a, full_txt, short_txt) plus a profile adutional created by me. Alerts in the additional profile groups are Cisco Tac, diagnosis and environment. No other options are available. It also has 'Warning' like format Txt Full level and my email as the recipient.

In the policies tab, I activated aquipment degraded material unusable, hardware problem and link down.

So, knowing these parameters should I notifications by mail electronic wexpect when a drive goes down or, if down, link when a host starts up again (I added that one, to test the reason)? Or have I missed something. Any other info I could provide to better understand my situation?

    Thanks in advance,

    Stephen,

Yes, Call Home is just internal, while Smart Call Home is one that opens the case with TAC and you will pay for this feature.  If you are right with your first assumption.

Regarding the link between tissues and the SMTP server, run a ping of the FIs and check connectivity, if this works, you should be fine. Orders must be:

    UCS # connection local-mgmt

    X.x.x.x ping B (local-Mgmt) # < if="" you="" do="" not="" specify="" the="" amount="" of="" pings="" to="" send="" with="" the="" "count",="" the="" ping="" will="" be="" an="" extended="" ping="" (="" equivalent="" to =""> t)

Settings Call Home look quite good for me, but as far I know (IMHO) unusable discs are NOT reported by Call Home while a link down is definitely declared.

Remember that policies must not only be created, they must be turned on too; and also do not forget that the system will only send classified messages according to the level that you specified (warning) in the profile you created.

You can also use this document for troubleshooting more far away, like sending an "inventory of the system" and make sure that he knew.

  • Difference between House and smart call home.

    To my knowledge.

Call home - configure the SMTP server and do a few other configuration, which can allow be to send emails to the recipients you want for all gravity.

Home - Smart call striving to reach the registry auto TAC for severity level.

    Is this correct?

I just read the configuration guide and did not understand the importance of the priority of switching...

  • When the phone wakes up or after a call home screen is empty

This has happened for a while, but I have yet to see discussed here. When I finish a phone call or wake up my phone or quit an application, the home screen is empty except for my wallpaper. All of my icons, including the row House, will be gone. Sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes it would stay that way until I did a battery pull. I found a way to fight against it, but that gets boring. The way to counter, it is by sliding upward on the screen to bring up the options of 3 profile, which brings usually return to normal. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

This looks like some serious lag for me. You can try to install an application cache cleaner and see if things improve. I use the Cache Cleaner by Jova. It seems to work pretty well. Whenever my phone seems to be taking it's sweet time to do the things that I just use Cache Cleaner and the phone speeds up immediately. I hope this helps.

  • Device of UCS - FI secondary/subordinate getting not saved

    (1) UCS primary FI was recorded successfully for CHS., but the secondary/sub-sub-coordinate FI is not get recorded on the portal of the CHS.

    (2) primary SMTP relay; secondary UCS and virtual ip addresses are allowed.

Please advise on this would be exactly the question why the IF the intercept is not register on the portal of the CHS

The UCSM saves the entire cluster using a generated serial number. Is it not to another of the FIs. From the point of view of the customer, there is no FI primary or secondary school in this recording situation. The two FIs are saved as part of the cluster.  If you change a FI, which will appear as having changed in the inventory messages.

But the USCM uses the primary FI to send in messages to call home.

Please check the new record. In the inventory, it must indicate the two FIs.

  • Procedure closure and standard power for system UCS

    Hi all

We have two Cisco UCS chassis with three blades B200M1 in each chassis. The two chassis are connected to two 6120 fabric of interconnections.

ESX 4.1 runs on each blade.

Please let me know if there is a standard and detailed procedure at the stop and power up the system.

Any information would be a great help.

    Thank you

    Arun,

    Devices in the following order:

    1. stop the blades

2 Disable Smart Call home (if enabled)

3 chassis (unplug the power supply)

    4. cut the secondary current to FI

5 cut the power to the primary FI.

Before any maintenance please save your config UCSM two 'All' and 'Full '.

Reverse the order to supply the system upward.

  • Suggestions for improvements UCS for customer experienced

I soon do my first audit for an experienced UCS client (not the best idea, I know). I guess that everything is properly configured with the latest fw and software.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a factor often overlooked in a UCS configuration I can verify for this customer?

I can give you a few things to check.  Some features depend on the UCSM version as well.

-Review all logs audit & vulnerabilities, fix what you can

-Examine the use of resource, highlight Pools close to the depletion

-Examine all levels FW including BIOS, make sure that everything is at a uniform level.

-Check the interfaces configured by unused.  (May be active, but not cable).

-Check Core files.  May indicate a problem past or present

-Ensure SALT newspapers are backed up regularly and allowed to an external server

    -Ensure that syslogs are enabled

-Control of user accounts.  They use a unique 'admin account ' to use RBAC. Give users min. access to the performance of their tasks. Accountability when you use authentication to remote or 1:1 local user accounts.

-Ensure the Call home is on & set up

-Review the use of licenses & requirements for future expansion

-Check if the follow-up Mgmt interface is enabled

-Binding configuration rising test.  They use the individual links or Port channels for aggregating best.

-Is the quality of service while running or could improve bandwidth consumption

-Are used models (vNIC, Service profile etc.) for consistency with deployments

-CDP enabled on vNIC?  Help with guests such as vSphere Tshooting CDP supported.

That should help you get started on a checklist...

  • Home - Equiment degraded / increased threshold

    Hey Cisco community,

I ' am Call Home for my Cisco's UCS (2.2.1c) Setup and I stuck.

I would like UCS send me an email, if a hard drive fails, a power supply is impotent or an adapter threshold is triggered.

I set up a home call profile with

    • level "minor."
    • Short "TXT" format
    • The attention of groups 'CiscoTAC', 'Diagnostic' and 'environment '.
    1. If I déplug a power supply (no matter if FI or chassis), I get an email.
    2. If I déplug a hard drive, I receive NO mail.
    3. If a threshold of adapter is triggered (Uplink Port has more than 8 GB traffic), I don't get ANY mail.

How can I be sure that I will be noticed, if something does not happen in my UCS? Can someone tell me what I have to configure?

    Thank you very much.

    / Danny

    Hello Danny,

As you can see here http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/ts/faults/ref...  There is nothing defined for the disks and this bug it confirms https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCui20800

With regard to the adapter or any other alarm to draw, the error must match.  For example, if you want to draw an error that says "Inoperable" but the error recorded in UCSM says "degraded", you will not receive an alert.  If the error must match your 100% strategy, otherwise you will not receive alerts.

    Note THE answers useful.
