  • Cannot connect to Windows XP Pro shared printer

    From: Mike J

I have a XP Pro PC on my home network and trying to connect a Lexmark X 215 printer that is shared out of the XP Pro machine.  I connect with a new laptop Windows Vista Home Premium Dell XPS M1530.  The rest of the network works fine - shared files, folders, Internet access, etc.

The message that I get when I try to connect, it's that Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Access is denied.

    Any thoughts?

You should see a similar directory structure.  If it returns access denied, you need to enable read on the share permissions of $ print XP which is the default configuration.

If you have not run the network configuration wizard XP make sure you run this tool.

Yes, something has changed the security settings on the print sharing $.

Since you're under XP Pro, you can reset it and allow all the world read access.  Do a right click my computer / manage / shared folders / sharing / right click $ Print properties/sharing permissions

Administrators and power users have full access to everything the world group should be there with read access.  I guess that the Everyone group is missing.

  • Homegroup not found, cannot join. Win 8 pro and Win 7 router wireless.

I have problems of shared resources between computers.  Niether is able to join another, and it's been long that I have configured my original network.  It seemed to work with two windows computers 7.  Now, I've updated my desktop for windows 8 pro computer and who ceases when it is started to win 8 and now 7 as well.

I have windows 8 pro desktop connected to a router that is connected to an internet modem.  The laptop has windows 7.  While both allow me to group residential creat, they cannot see eachother.  The router is a N a... it does not resemble the laptop uses IP6 even if it is installed and it happens to the internet just fine.  They seem to be on the same subnet.

The MS Fix it is broken and does not work.   If someone wants to give an overall suggestion, it would be appreciated.  I've been MCP on several levels, including networking... but that was years ago... so it doesn't have to be overly simplified... but I need my memory is jogging unless it's something completely new. (Yah, win 8...)

    Thank you

PS. summer didn't beat my brain in research online and to try different settings, passwords by leaving the house band... no luck.  Not even when the two are primed to windows 7 now.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community forums!
I understand that you cannot join Windows 8 computer with Windows 7 wireless router. Provide us information.

    1. which antivirus software is installed on the computer?
    2. you receive an error message on the computer?
    3. don't you make changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the advice given and check if that helps:

    Method 1:
Try the suggestions from the link:
    Why I can't join a homegroup?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/why-can-t-I-join-a-HomeGroup
Why can't I access my homegroup?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/why-cant-I-access-my-HomeGroup

Refer to the steps from the links:

    Homegroup from start to finish
Temporarily disable firewall and antivirus on each machine.

Make sure that third-party firewalls are disabled. Sometimes antivirus programs also come with firewall software. These programs can block connections and help you connect to a homegroup.

Once this is done, run HomeGroup. See if it works.

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
NOTE: turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks

If the problem persists, feel free to let us know. It is our pleasure to be of service.

  • Cannot connect iphone to mac pro 5s after update

Hi, I have a Mac Pro OS X 10.6.8 6 GB of memory, 25GB available on my hard drive. I did an update to find, and he said that he was unable to find the updates for my computer. I have an iphone 5s who ran out of space, so I recently did a restore and installed iOS 9.2. Once I did, I could not connect my iphone to itunes on my mac, it says it requires a newer version of iTunes, and I need to download the latest version of iTunes. I went to itunes.com and download the last file to iTunes, and he says he couldn't have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, I need to download the latest ios, El Capitan. I went to the app store to download the last iOS El Capitan, and he said "this version of Mac OS X 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer." Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might have missed? I want to be able to connect my iphone to my mac and drag on music and playlists, and I don't want to get a new mac just so I can connect it to my phone.

Synchronization with an iOS device 9 requires iTunes 12.2 or later. This requires OSX 10.8.5 or later version,

For Mac Pro desktop computer, which requires a computer desktop Mac Pro 2008 or later version.

Decommissioning of the iOS version is not supported by Apple

Can not connect to macbook pro, that keeps asking for password to icloud I have reset too many times I do not remember. Reinstalled operating system still does not work. Think to screw up the laptop and get back to a Windows machine. Not impressed with Apple.

To connect to your computer, you must enter your computer in password journal, not your Apple ID.

Otherwise, provide more details on exactly what is happening on.

    Hello

There is also a WLan switch on the side of s for laptop.
This switch must be activated also.

    Please check this!

In addition, you can consult the WLan card properties in Device Manager.
There should be an Advanced tab.

There are different parameters, you should check out. For example, you can choose different WiFi standards such as 802.11 A B G, etc.

Bought a new Linksys WRT1900AC wireless router.  Followed the steps of wireless configuration and connected successfully as verified by "results of analysis of the wireless network.  However, I am still unable to print/scan/fax.  Receive a message indicating that the printer is unable to connect to the server.

    Finally a resolution...

I tried running an ePrint of New York telephone, and it worked, but still no luck wirelessly from the PC printing.

He said that the WiFi was indeed working.  So, I did a search for new firmware and found that there was one in April of this year (2016).  Downloaded and took a chance on install.  To my amazement, it is actually installed on the printer without any connection "connected".  Who told me that there is an existing wireless link.

Once the install is complete firmware, I tried to print a worksheet Excel from the PC, and it actually printed!  I have to assume there was something in the formware upgrade which allowed the router from LinkSys (WRT1900AC) to communicate fully and to work with the PC.  The router was published in 2014, so maybe it was.

In any event, everything is in fully working again.

Man y thanks to all who have shared their data entry.  I hope this could help someone with a similar problem in the future.

    Thanks again!

Take a look at this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Cannot-upgrade-to-win-8-pro-on-thinkpad-twist/m-p...

  • Cannot connect Win 7 Pro PC Win XP Workgroup

Win 7 Pro 64 Bit PC, I see the Win XP PC if I'm typing \\name in the search box or line URL but the connection disappears as soon as I close the Explorer. They do not appear under network.
I do not see the Win 7 PC to any Win XP PC and can't do their ping
I tried to disable the firewall from Win 7, but that did not help.
I tried to change the network ID on 2 PC different of XP, but it does not work:
Right click on desktop, select Properties
Click Network ID - watch computer belongs to a domain that is not, there is no server
changed by not part of the domain
changed the name of the workgroup is same as name of working group in the main screen
    Save the changes and reboot
When I go back to look at the changes are not made, back on the field and bad name working group (the "working group")
What could be blocking me to change the settings for XP? I am logged in as administrator (the only user on all XP PC).

Thanks for the links. I tried all settings suggested and many more other items, but I still can't Win 7 Pro SP1 from PC to see the Win XP Pro SP 3 pieces.
Even tried stopping IPv6 and changed sharing encryption 40 or 56-bit
All Win 7 PC can see another Win 7 PC and all the XP PC can see all other XP PC.
I Ping the PC XP from Win 7 PC, but I can't Ping a Win 7 PC to any PC in XP.
The Win 7 PC IP addr are 192.168.2.xxx, the XP IP addr 192.168.1.xxx.
This would be a router issue?

XP cannot recognize the Homegroups Win7 so machines Win7 need to be networked by using user accounts and passwords.

All the computers are in the same workgroup and the same subnet (IE. 192.168.1.x AND 192.168.2.x)

You did not say as much, but it seems that if you are using 2 routers, or a router, and another device that is also using DHCP to assign a different range of intellectual property of the numbers on your local network. There should be only one DHCP server on the network. If you are using 2 routers, rewire inter-connexions such as only one router is the only DHCP server and offering all services while the second router routing simply acts as a switch with no routing service.

The type of network for Win7 computers must be set to home or work. Choice work avoids having to deal with getting rid of the default settings of the homegroup.

Make sure the network discovery and file & printer sharing turned on for home or work on Win7 computers networks

Regarding access to shared files, etc., XP computers must connect to a Win7 computers with the user name and password of a user on the Win7 machine. The commonly recommended solution is to create a single common username with the same password on all computers on the network. (If you find a better way, I wonder if it's me)

Encryption level should not affect the connectivity (high is best) as long as it's the same for all machines.

The Win7 firewall may be set by default to block incoming Pings, or it might be your router configuration. Anything from an IP address 192.168.1.x could be regarded as an external network by the 192.168.2.x router connection and incoming Pings can be blocked because of this.

  • Win 7 Pro 64 bit configuration network, cannot access card reader when im not connected network

IM under Win 7 Pro 64 bit on my laptop, im am Setup on an Exchange to my office network. The laptop has an SD card reader, and since I use CF cards I have a USB card reader also (my old card reader has been pre Win 7, so in desperation, this last weekend, I bought a new Targus card reader that preload drivers and is Win 7 compatible.

The question is when im not connected to my office network and I put an SD card in the embedded player, or use the USB drive (the old drive did the same thing if it is not a drive issue) the computer laptop reconizes the event by sound in my computer scans the URL bar, and the card will not appear in the my computer window. So im hooked on my network it readings, launches autoplay and wonder what to do (as I have it setup to do).

I always perform software updates and just checked my Windows is up-to-date.

Any ideas as to what is happening and how to fix?
