  Check and make sure that these services are started and set to automatic on the computer.

  ·         Terminal Server services

  ·         Remote procedure (RPC) call service

   

  (a) click Start type services.msc in the Open text box, and then click OK.

  (b) in the Services (Local) list, right-click service and then click Properties.

  (c) make sure you sure it is started and set to automatic.

  If the services have been started not, try to start and try to install Norton software on the computer.

  Bought a new iMac and bought Fusion 5 Pro.  I have a 5 year old and reclassified iMac Fusion 4-5 fusion and had no problems.  The new computer is for my wife and I tried and tried to migrate the laptop and it failed every time.  So, I did a clean install of Windows 7 and before I downloaded everything that I installed VMWare Tools.  For the past 2 days, I was passage of the files from the laptop and install programs that she had on the laptop.  Problems with Word and excel as they sit a spin.  Money went to re - install VMware Tools and it launches the installation program and then comes up with an error message... Error 1606: Could Not Access Network Location \\<host>\users\administrator\my documents

  Went into Windows to uninstall VMware tools and he started the uninstall program then stopped and got the same message.  I can not uninstall tools and cannot re - install the tools.  I need help to solve this problem.  I'm a guy of plug-and-play and if there is code to do, in my opinion, I'm sunk.

  Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem, so I can get up and go?

  Extra solution after Woodys - please check if mirror folder is enabled or not, if it is enabled, please disable it then try to reinstall the tools.

  How long is the USB cable?  Anything more than 6 ft (2 m) can cause signal lose.

  How old is the USB cable?  He may have gone bad and need replaced.

  Try the following and let us know the results.
  Clean boot your PC and then test.

  If you can not access the internet, then check your updates installed and see if KB980182 has been installed.  If so, uninstall and then test.

  So that the results answer with what anti-virus\firewall programs you're running.

  Windows vista 32 bit, home basic-ops; get the message stating that I didn't have enough supported updates installed to facilitate the installation of sp1. Also will not install ie 8 upgrade.  I also installed a package of norton 360 Security, yet I was turn off before trying to update the ie 8 and sp1 paks.   We will check your services and see if the telnet service is disabled.  If it is disabled, then lets set it to automatic.
