Cannot scan in Officejet 6500 to iMac

I realized that I posted this on a discussion that shows 'resolved' is not likely to be read.  Here's my problem:

Bravo.  It worked.  By mistake I have authorized HP install print drivers only after the restart.  Because no software of HP in the 'Applications' folder, I could not uninstall anything.  So, I advanced and downloaded and installed the full package of software.  Seems to work very well.

So what that tells me, that HP distributes a product with seriously outdated software.  How long has 10.6.6 the standard?  More than a year?  I must say that good HP printers are, their customer for Mac support is second rate.

(The printer version is 4.2.1) When I use the print queue of the printer of the iMac, it will start scanning, the document by using the power charger, then stop with this message, "year error occurred while scanning in progress.  When tried again, nothing happens. If I stop or unplug the printer it will refresh and try again with the same results.

I have disabled firewall several times and retries with the same results. Also deleted the printer in system preferences and reinstalled without change.  Connection is with USB cable. Printing/copying works very well. Do not fax.

Thanks in advance for any help available.

    Hi Smeo ,

I've provided the steps to repair disk permissions and how to reset the printing system.

Fix permissions of the drive on the Mac:

    Close all applications.

In the Apple menu, click OK, click Applications, and then click utilities.

    Double-click disk utility.

Highlight your hard drive / partition on the left.

Click on check and then repair disk permissions.

    Restart the computer...

    Reset the printing system:

Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer deleted can be re-added later by clicking the sign plus (+) symbol.

Click on the Apple icon and then click on System Preferences.

    Click on Printers & Scanners.

Make a right click (or Ctrl + click) in the left white side panel, and then click Reset printing system.

Click OK to confirm the reset.

Type the name and the correct password.

Click OK to reset the printing system.

Then click on the sign to add the driver, highlight the printer +. (you may need to click the drop down menu to select the name of the printer) Then click the Add button.

    Test the printer and scanner.

If you still experience problems, uninstall and download the latest drivers for 10.7 and install the software.

    * I can print to this printer even using another computer Dell laptop running Windows 7

    * I have installed and uninstalled the printer a couple of different

    1. With the help of the HP Officejet Full Feature software and driver http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-6500-All-in-One-Printer-series---E709/3...
    2. Using a detection printer 10 Windows "add a printer".

    Hi @jhrhilltop,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I read your post and see that you cannot print after you install the printer on Windows 10. I will definitely do my best to help you. If this helps you to find a solution, please click on the button "Accept as Solution" down below in this message. If you want to say thanks for my effort to help, click on the 'Thumbs Up' to give me a Kudos.

It does not resemble drivers for the printer installed correctly.

Run all the updates of Windows on the computer.

I would say to uninstall the printer software. Unlock the hidden administrator account, then install the printer on this account:

Note: Do not connect the USB cable until you are prompted during the installation.
Go to your Start menu and in the box "search programs and files", type CMD.
CMD will fill as an option to search above, just right-click on it and "run as Administrator".
Once opens in CMD (command prompt), type net user administrator / Active: Yes and press ENTER.
Then, close CMD and then restart your computer.
When your computer is on the newspaper in the new account which should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
If your computer automatically connects to your account after reboot than to go to your Start menu, click the arrow next to 'shutdown' and choose 'change user '. Now log on to the administrator account, that we have just released.
Under the administrator account, install the printer software.
    Test the printer.
To disable the Admin account start at step 1 and type net user administrator / active: No..

    Test the printer.

Please let me know the result and if there is anything else I can help you. Thank you.

  • Scanning with Officejet 6500 problems

My Officejet 6500 printer will scan only from my computer when there is a usb cable attached. Remove the cable, no sweeping. FRO the last 2 weeks in HP Smart people have been scratching their collective heads trying to solve the problem. Is there anyone else with this problem. Maybe we could all have a collective scratch! 2 weeks of my life on this Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Dear Scratchmyhead,

I have the same problem with the same printer.
Indeed, it is the error through the programming of the two-way communication via Wifi.

There is error on HP sid, and they do not have a solution.
There is a simple solution which is somewhat tidious, but it allows you can scan to receive ink levels wireless and wireless.
    On your printer, go to;
Configuration > network > view network summary > discovers wireless

On this page, you will see your printers IP address. Write this down (or remember).
Return to your computer, open a new tab in a web browser. (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.)
Enter your printer's IP address in the URL bar.
It takes you to a page that says:

    "Officejet 6500 E710n-z.

It's your "Built-in Web server" printers

    If your printer is connected to your network correctly, you should see;

    Status: loan

    The estimated ink levels: *.

  • How to set the parameters of scanning on Officejet 6500 connected to a Mac?

I'm trying to scan documents and pictures using the following:

    Scanner: HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z all-in-one
    Computer: Macbook Pro retina
Operating system: OS X mount Lion
Application: "HP Scan" (this application was provided by HP)

Whenever I have analyze anything, it comes out in grayscale at 300 dpi resolution.  At least, this is what HP Scan tells me when I click on the "Info" button in the lower right.

I would like to be able to scan things in color rather than just in grayscale, and I wish I could choose the resolutions other than 300PPI.  But I looked everywhere in the graphical interface of the HP scanning application, and I can't find anywhere to adjust these settings.

Did anyone here know how to change these settings?

Unfortunately, the link you provided is a version of the software much older than what I have currently installed.

HP_Installer_Inkjet_Full_Group02_10.3.dmg was published on 14/09/2009, and it is intended for OS X 10.6, aka Snow Leopard.  When I installed the printer installation CD had software pretty much at this time, and he refused to install on MTN. Lion.  Instead it asked me to download the latest version from the HP website.  What is installed on my machine is a file named HP_Mountain_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.23.18.dmg.  Unfortunately, I neglected to save the URL I downloaded from, and I can't seem to find him.  But I saved a copy of the .dmg file in case I ever need to reinstall.

Meanwhile, I managed to find the answers on my own.  Part of my problem is that, although I'm fairly familiar with Linux and Windows, I am new to the GUI of Mac and his metaphor interface and GUI desktop is different, enough of these I'm familiar with what my instincts are sometimes not a lot of help.  Then, it took me days to notice the only critical button that made all the selections, I was looking for visible.

HP Scan DO allows you to set things like the Type of Scan (photo or Document), Mode (color, grayscale, black & white), resolution and a number of other parameters.  But we must first click on the "Scan" button... ", and then click on the widget of the arrow to the right of the selection of the Scanner.  By clicking on the arrow pointing downwards in fact all other settings appear.

If you change the Type of Scan of photo of the Document, it automatically changes color in grayscale Mode, which does not want to create a color PDF.  But you can change the Mode back to color.  And you can save this document as a PDF searchable to call the I.R.I.S. OCR software on it.

To create a multiple page PDF, or let the software analyzes all sheets in the document feeder, or place another page on the window and click on the button 'Add' in the lower left corner of the window, how it displays the same dialog box that is displayed when you click 'Scan '. ».  You can click on the arrow down and change the settings for each page or leave them alone and they will remain the same as the parameters of the previous page.

When you have analysed all the pages that you want in a single document, click 'send '.  This displays the usual selection of files box.  At this point, if you set the 'Searchable PDF', or 'PDF' format a checkbox will appear marked "save all items in a single file.

Thus, it seems that HP Scan works with MTN. Lion, it provides all the features that Capture of Image and seen I.R.I.S. integrated in it, it provides OCR features that Capture of Image is not.

  • Cannot update firmware Officejet 6500 has more

I just receivevd my new Officejet 6500 a Plus (e710n-z).  The status page shows a f/w Rev. CIP1FN1110AR.  I did a search for updates on the printer itself and he says it's not.  I went to the 6500 a Plus page Web on HP.com and find f/w CIP1FN1126AR (OJ6500_E710n - z_R1126A.exe).  It is obviously a most recent version, right?  So I download it, then run it.  It works very well and even detect my printer.  However, the printer is gray and under STATUS does not say there is.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thank you!

    Sea

    I am employed by HP

If my post helped you... click on the LAURELS on the left to say thank YOU! ***

I DID IT!  I finally got the updated firmware update!  Gotta think sometimes off the beaten path!  I am a technician in field HP and normally we cannot simply click one. EXE firmware update.  Then that which made me think to extract the. EXE (see previous post).  Then I thought about the update via USB, in the same way that we do it not connected to network Laserjet printers and it worked!

So what you have to do is extract the file update package .ful (OJ6500_E710n - z_R1206A.exe), I used 7zip for this.  Then rename it and place it in the root of C: I just renamed mine fw.ful, short and sweet.

Then you need to share the printer, use a name that is short and sweet.  I called mine Officejet.

Then I went to a command prompt (not sure if it was necessary, but only in the case) and copied the firmware file.  Here is the command that I used

    copy/b c:\fw.ful \\your computername\printer sharename

My printer works now the firmware version 1206!  Not sure why it wouldn't run and update you want to its supposed to but at least now we have a way to do it.  I hope everyone can get what goes on their printer.

I uninstalled and reinstalled.   The scan doctor can even see my unit (but when I put the camera card into the printer, he sees it and copy all the pictures on the computer... and it also appears in the 'my computer' zone.  The main reason I bought it was to scan and I tried today, the forums, the HP and a professional who spent ages trying to solve the problem...

The printer has been on my home network to a XP installation.  My new Win 7 PC recognizes the printer and print to it, but I need to complete (including the centre of Solution) of scanning software, etc.  So I downloaded the software Win7 OJ6500vE709_Full_14.exe as recommended; However, it will not install.  The first few times I ran the .exe it extracted, an Assistant came, and then the wizard says that it could not find a file.  Then I went into computer management and asked to update the drivers, pointing to the directory of the downloaded software, and Windows said that she already had the best driver.   Now if I rerun the .exe it checked, and when this is done there is the message "this application has requested execution to terminate in an unusual way."

I don't know what to try next.

Hello smagand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

  • Cannot print on officejet 6500 E709a of computer network

Today I tried to reinstall my software to print several times and I still can't to the printer. "Print Test page fails." The printer itself works fine on the computer, it is connected to a USB key. It works very well in my second network computer when connected by USB. The second network computer can see the printer on the network and appears to be adding correctly. He tells me is there and ready, but then gives me the error message when I try to print a test page. Nothing makes its appearance in the what is printing either the dialog box. My Network works fine with everything else. Troubleshooting all failed to produce errors. I am running Windows 7 on two computers, a major a 64 bit and 32 bit second. A third computer on the network, in another room, can find and print from the printer. So... any idea what prevents me to get this resolved?  Thank you...  Liz

A final update to the report...  I almost gave up the idea of printing on my HP printer from a computer on the network after you receive your last message. It always bothered me, however, that both firewall from Norton, which I intend to use, and the Windows Firewall, which I thought was disabled, had been activated when I installed the printer. As a last attempt, I made sure that Windows Firewall has been turned off, uninstalled the printer using the HP installation CD and clean up the registry. Then I reinstalled the printer again, and WOW, it works! This announcement, I'm just in case it can help someone else who had to rebuild his computer after a full recovery of the system to the factory status. My Learning: Norton firewall is not a problem, but Windows Firewall needs to be turned off completely. Thanks for all the help and the time you took to try to get up and print again.  See you soon...  Liz

    Wireless connection

Until recently, I noticed that it takes a good 45-60 seconds to print. From the moment that I hit print say at the start of the printing printer. Real bummer, but today I tried to scan and got an error "Scanner communication cannot be established... "I've uninstalled all the drivers and the printer and reinstalled same thing any suggestions I have to be able to scan.

    Hey alsmith1964,

It seems that the network communication between the PC and the printer has become lost or locked up.  The first step, I would suggest in this case is to perform a cycle of power to all devices in the network circuit.

Follow these steps to reset your printer HP, your router and your computer.

    1. To turn it off, press the power button on the HP printer.
    2. Unplug the power cord at the back of the HP printer.
    3. Unplug the power cord from the wireless router.
    4. Turn off the computer.
    5. Wait 30 seconds.
    6. Reconnect the power cable to the wireless router.
    7. Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is completely ready.
    8. Turn the computer on.
    9. Wait for the computer to recharge.
    10. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the HP printer.
    11. Turn on the printer.

I would like to know if it is able to get the question to be resolved,

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709a: Officejet 6500 E709a - cannot scan

    Hi all

I have a HP Officejet 6500 E709a. My computer is running the operating system Windows 10 Pro x 64, and I have the latest software/drivers installed as downloaded from the HP website. When trying to browse the HP Solution Center, I click on the button "scan"document"which is in the software. After clicking, a small box appears which says "HP Scanning", but it is only about 2 seconds before closing, after which nothing ever happens. She is supposed to appear a settings window which allows me to set my scan and scan settings, but as I said, this never happens.

  • HP Officejet 6500 a shared printer cannot add computer network to send scan

HP Officejet 6500 a is shared on my network by another computer. I can print to the printer, but I am not able to scan directly to my computer. I can't add another computer in the options of scan on the front panel of HP. I use Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002. I also downloaded the installation CD on my hard drive, tried to search by IP address, but always without success. Is it possible to add another computer for instructions to scan, if I'm not connected to the HP printer?

    Hey kapua99,

If you use the printer in shared USB mode to access over the network, then it will only support basic printing.  Shared network printers allow no detection on the share path.

If you want to scan from multiple computers on the network, so I recommend linking the Officejet 6500 a directly to the network.  For more information about how to install the printer on an Ethernet network or wireless, click on the link below.
