Cascading the WRT54G2 BEFSX41 lan - LAN. No Internet access.

My kids each received a ipod touch so I thought I would add a WRT54G2 to my existing wired network that uses a BEFSX41 as the gateway device to provide access to the internet.

I followed instructions from Linksys lan - lan waterfall, defining the WRT54G2 as IP 192.168.1.2 as the BEFSX41 is 192.168.1.1 and connecting port 1 of the BEFSX41 to port 1 of the WRT54G2.

Ipods to connect to the WRT54G2 and I can access the control panels for each router to my computer (XP) using their assigned IP addresses.

But the iPod can not connect to the internet and the WRT54G2 cannot ping external IPs.

Where my Setup seems to differ the intructions of Linksys, is they claim all the WRT54G2 to use "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" as the type of Internet connection while the BEFSX41 has disabled DHCP and all the network devices have a manually assigned IP address.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Guessed it.

I had enable DHCP on for the BEFSX41 and set the IP address of the DHCP beginning to a value greater than the static IP already in use.

IPods are now cruise the ' net.

Welcome to the community forums of Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. I've surely you will help find a solution on the issue. I see that you are unable to connect to the wireless network after you perform a new installation.

I suggest you to consult the steps described in the article:

    Method 1:

You can try the steps in the link and check.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

You can update the driver of windows 7 on the manufacturer's Web site.

    Method 2:

You can remove and re-create the wireless network connection, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type ncpa.cpl , and then press on Enter.
    b. right click on your wireless network connection and then click Properties.

    Method 4:

You can temporarily disable the antivirus and firewall on the computer and see if it helps:
    Enable or disable Windows Firewall
NOTE: Turn off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
You can see the following link to disable the Antivirus installed on your computer software.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks

Please follow these recommended steps and post if you still experience the problem. I'd be happy to help you further.
  • Guest of the embedded hypervisor - DHCP but no internet access

I have a Hyper-V Server 2012 running on a hypervisor, ESXi 5.1. On the Hyper-V server, I installed a Server 2008 R2 OS. The operating system works very well except for the fact that he is not getting internet access. He get a IP address of my server DHCP (a virtual machine on my ESXi host) and I can release the renew, but I can not ping to the gateway. I have internet access on the Hyper-V server, but not on the Hyper-V host.

Any ideas? I don't think that the ESXi host would do anything to stop a nested comments to access the internet, but thought I would ask here in any case. I write in the Hyper-V forum as well...

    TIA!

Edit - my ESXi box is connected with 1 NIC

You should be able to do this by creating a group of additional ports on the vSwitch promiscuous mode and then reconfigure the Hyper-V guest to use the new port group.

    Hello

Please check in the WLan settings if the TCP/IP protocol settings are set to automatic.

Usually, the WLan router supports a range of IP addresses and assigns an IP address to the laptop of the range of IP addresses.

You can find this setting here:
    ->-Connection network WLan-> properties > network connections (TCP/IP) Internet Protocol-> properties

Also, check if your WLan encryption settings are right!

  • No local/internet access

I have a NX700 with a built-in wireless function. When I go through the Setup program tries to connect to the internet, he noted only that the wireless connection was working, and internet access and local access failed. Also, if I try to use a wired connection - it's the same thing: it acknowledges the wired connection, but the local access and access to the internet that these two don't. It is not my router because other devices work. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with care, and they think that I must return to my tv.

I adjusted the security settings on the router, and it does not help. If anyone has suggestions on what to do, it would be greatly appreciated, because the back tv will be a chore.

    Thank you!

I have the KDL40 - NX711 Wifi Tv and I have experienced the same problem when I changed my router. I am owner of a Netgear WNDR3700 and I had to exchange it because it was defective. The new router is exactly the same, and the TV can detect the SSID broadcast. When I entered my passode, TV would set up and come back with the message that Internet OK, has no Local access and Internet failed. It took several calls to Sony (who have no idea), Netgear and Comcast to realize that nobody could help. Eventually, I realized that I had to do a manual install and provide my TV with the primary IP address, subnet, default gateway and DNS address. I did not allow the proxy server at all. I was able to get this information through the control panel under Windows Vista. Click Network and sharing icon, under the wired home network click State view. Click the property box in the local area network box. The IP initially did not work, because it was already used by other wireless devices in the House. For example, I used 192.168.1 and TV it back foot. I logged on Netgear to see what devices were in use on which IP address, and I changed the last digit to a 192.168.8 (8), which was open. I hope this helps.

  • "Windows needs to install driver software for your Internet access server.

Hello everyone, since April 3, 2010 I get this message just after I turn on the computer and Vista SP2 is ready to ROCK, I change my router in 31 March, for a Lynksis E1000 and it works perfectly since then.

Now, in the cry of the message I have different options from the tree, if I click in the star of windows option "locate and install driver software (recommended)" the search for drivers to install, but then another small window appears asking me to insert the CD that came with my Internet access server (it shows as another option that says "I have not a disc. Show me other options') and there is when I stop because I fear :)

What is c? WHAT is an Internet access server?

My ISP is Comcast, I don't know if it's important.

Can someone help me? THANKS :)

  • Network WRT1900AC comments is seen, connectable, but no password invite or internet access

I have WRT1900AC firmware version 1.1.8.164461. The wireless channel interference is not a problem.

Under access as a guest, I can see allow guest access turned on, I have a SSID of 2.4 Ghz and a password for the guest network. Using my 2.4 Ghz devices, I can see the SSID I just referred to. My devices can connect to it.

But, once connected, I never receive a prompt for the password and I have no internet access. The screen Smart Wi - Fi are always "0 clients" are currently connected, regardless of the number of devices made the level of SSID link.

I installed the router months ago, but did not know that access as a guest did not work because it always seemed well on the router and I didn't have a camera to test with. But I just discovered that many guests were upset that they can't connect with the password that I gave them. I am very disappointed by the Linksys support answer to my question.

For now, I am getting the correct behavior after a reset of the WRT1900AC plant. The guest network is now a password in a browser for the two test devices. My comments network IP addresses have the prefix 192.168.3.x and I can't find an address 192.168.2.x on my network.

  • limited internet access

I have some troubleconnecting to the internet. I can see my wireless connection but it says limited access. I tried to connect to the internet using a wired connection, but that doesn't work anymore. I looked at my wireless adapter and there is nothing there.

    Hi Jeannie,

Thanks for posting the query on the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description, you get a limited internet access using wireless internet connetion.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

  • Having trouble getting internet access

Hi guys... I have a dell laptop inspiron 5520... It's just 5 days... everything was fine with the internet is suddenly started showing no internet access to my wifi network... but it has network access... itsays that the modem is connected but no internet access...
Gys help me... i have tried all my knowledge on the networks to clear it but every thing in vain... I sure u there is no problem with my modem...
    I use McAfree antivirus protection

It is not your computer that's recently published Microsoft updates.  Mine did the same thing. I had to restore to a previous point and everything works as before.  I can't believe that Microsoft is actually telling people it's a problem with their computers when obviously this post proves how FALSE it is. Your computer is practically new!

They will have to OWN up to their mistake and release a patch.

  • setting up my VM PC for Internet access

    HI -.

I just downloaded the latest demo version of VMware Fusion, enabled with the serial number temporary supplied and installed XP Professional. The platform is a relatively new Mac Mini running the current operating system. My Internet access is through a DSL modem/router which requires a system of client and enter a serial number from 10 numbers as a key.

I don't seem to have access to the Internet on my PC of VM. I'm pretty new to do something meaningful on Windows; can someone tell me how to configure it to access the Internet? I just need to be headed in the right direction; I am sure that I have all the configuration information that I need.

    Thank you.

I would never install SP2 on a clean install if SP3 was the ultimate goal that it is a waste of time and I will not talk about other things.

You should look into creating a slipstreamed SP3 for future facilities .iso image.

Take a look at: Slipstreaming Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Do you want to get this test anyway? I don't know what he's going to tell us now, because I don't have a virtual machine without Internet access.

No, it is not necessary since you have Internet connectivity in Windows XP.

  • Function "Derogation offline," Internet access required?

Is the Adobe Customization Wizard "Grant currently off exception" access feature REQUIRES Internet to validate S/N, he was given? Because it is a failure with a "grant of exception offline process failed..." "error.

The oobelib.log file shows quite well it attempts to access the Internet and finally ends with a "Adobe PRTK: could not validate serial number" entry.

We try to run the wizard on a system located on a secure network to create a transform to install Acrobat on others systems located on the same network - who have no Internet access.

The doc is explicit: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Wizard/personalization.html#available-se fittings

Grant offline exception: sets the PRESERIALIZATIONFILEPATH property. PRESERIALIZATIONFILEPATH granting an exception offline for the requirement of the online activation for volume serial numbers. If Adobe servers cannot be contacted, no activation occurs. However, if the Adobe servers can be contacted, activation occurs.

You need internet access on the computer used to create the transform.

  • Slow internet speed because of the Marvell Yukon LAN driver

    Hi all!

I'm a newbie here so don't know if I'm supposed to ask this question here but anyway, hope, my problem is solved somehow.

I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop computer, I received last week and everything works well except my internet speed, its too slow. I'm on a 10 Mbps plan but my speed is no where near that. I get speeds close to 200 kb/s at 300 KB/s max. After some googleing I got to know that the Marvell Yukon LAN driver is the problem here.

According to some Internet sites, we are supposed to roll back the driver to a previous version, I did it, but speed still does not pass. I have tried almost all the things I can do, but nowhere so far. I called my ISP, they say that everything is rosy on the other hand, ran the scan of Norton Antivruis on this computer, the firewall disabled, and the list is long but nothing.

It would be great if someone could help me out here.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

checked your connection with another computer, if the problem persists try with another machine?

Would be really interesting... If not I suggest you to reclaim your machine to 'default '. Maybe it's solved something.
Another idea would be to remove the service from the "Qos" (quality of service) of your network connection, which hardly slows down the connection for software reasons.

Please give some feedback and please tell me what system you´re using (Vista, XP)
