[Portable HP 8510w with P/N KE186ET #ABE running on Win XP Pro SP3 and only that - not dual boot or otherwise tweeked block starting on this machine]

    Hi all!

    -my 1st post here.

Laptop started to heat seriously about 30 months. The symptoms were:

-fan gear at all times very quickly after the start and

-heat extracted from this little box was such that I could not keep my hand before the exit of the fan or above it, the box more 5s touchiing. This meant temp was well above 75 ° c. imagine tweaking on your keyboard and suddenly crying out loud because you hand burned year.

4 nights ago (literally over night), my laptop called quit.

He has not started since. Nothing happens when I turn it on, except ironic that the fan seems to work great and the power supply LED is lit. I will also try to access the internal HD and CD/DVD drive about 4 intervals of s.

Naturally my warranty has long expired.

    I tried:

-connect to a display external and put under tension to see if something appeared there. Nothing.

-boot from a CD ROM. nothing.

-put back in place the memory modules, internal SATA HD, keyboard, pad, follow-up, the RTC CMOS 3V battery and the WLAN module, take everything I was able to take off and it reinstallation after you have checked for any Visual defect. Nothing more.

BTW, I work regularly with a single operating system on this machine, Win XP Professional SP3.

    One more detail:

I have reformatted and completely reinstalled my OS about 2 months after I had noticed some unpredictability as ago crashes and so on.  Which seemed to fix the grip but absolutely not overheating.

Due to the overheating my machine had had a constant history of qualifying left the middle of anything, especially during the summer months and when I got the job of video module.  But it was normal. The thermocontacts has just done his job... until four nights ago.

I think that the motherboard has a defective component or worse because of the heat generated? It can be repaired?

Someone at - he a clue about this zombie case? Any help appreciated.

    See you soon.

    -cedric

Well it's not really a case of zombie. You have 2 and a half years on a laptop overheated. I would say that the little girl gave him his best shot. Probably need a few years ago had to be open and have the area/radiator/fan of the cleaned processor and the new thermal paste. At this point, I think you're looking at a motherboard replacement. It's a bit old but it was very advanced when new is therefore always a desirable computer. It is the repair:

    Repair manuals

Assuming that you have WLAN only and not as WWAN is the part number for the motherboard:

    452218 001

And here is one on eBay, shipped from China, but reasonably priced at $80:

  • 7 animation of necessity in the event of failure of Captivate

I'm new to Captivate and is working on a training simulation. I want to see an animation that points to the click box after 3 failed attempts.  I tried everything I can think of.  I put the LAST ATTEMPT to apply with the defined Animation effects, but no matter what I do, the animation playback depending on the timeline in the properties of the click box Panel. I also tried to set the timing for the animation object. I don't think there should be a time in the animation, it should show after that 3 unsuccessful attempts.  Be as detailed as possible if you can help.

Apparently you did not read my last paragraph:

"That the animation should be hidden, uncheck 'Visible output' in the properties panel." After the third attempt, the animation will play AND head out of reading. This means that if you want to stay in the slide, maybe you need to add another box to click which is a break just after the animation. »

You must use the "Animation Show" action in the Actions panel for "after the last attempt. Who will free the read head and display the animation.

  • Write backup files as reading takes place in the event of computer failure

    Hello

My application involves sometimes to test outdoors.  We have a PC equipment and robust data acquisition.  I'm in the Northeast, where in recent weeks were cold and we had to do a test on the outside.  Long story short, in the middle of the test the computer shut down (probably because it was too cold for the computer according to the data sheet) and I lost all the data from the sensor.  The coomputer works fine BTW when I brought it back inside.

The reason for which the data have been lost was because the program never completed and so the function that creates the data file has a chance to run.  Now, the data acquisition card, we used is very old and obsolete.  I am trying to upgrade the equipment with components or (PCI-6221) and a box of CSC-2345 with modules for two load cells load cells.  At the same time, I am writing a LabVIEW application that improves the old, obsolete program.

I want the application to write a file in spreadsheet with all the information of the sensor continuously as the test proceeds in the event of failure of the computer midtest.  In this way, I at least have some saved data.  I explained all this to another engineer here and he says that he cannot make this way at high sampling rates (I want to run the program at 1 kHz for 60 seconds).  His reason was that the writing on file screws up the waveforms that we measure because the file must be opened, the data gets written and then closed for each line of data points.  He argues that the resources of the computer will be linked up as it tries to write the file while the program is data acquisition and store these data in a buffer.

So my question is: what is the recommended architecture to write a backup file as a test occurs with a high (1 kHz and 10 kHz) sample rate when the computer shuts down or some other failure?  Also, what are the limits of performance when writing data to a file within the same line as the VI 'read '?

    Thank you.

Rate from 1 to 10 kHz are in fact rather slow. You can use an architecture of producer/consumer to save text files, and there is simply no reason to open and close files permanently. With DAQmx, you can listen directly to the disk at much higher rates.

  • Random BSoD occurrences, can not read the message because no option to put an end to restart in the event of system failure.

My girlfriend has a HP dv4-1465dx experiencing hardware problems, the laptop will be blue screen randomly and then restart 1-3 seconds later. When you restart the laptop reads, "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key." If the laptop is turned off and turn it on again, it works fine, until the next BSoD. The first time that this error the hard drive was seized up, unable to enter a bank hard disk enclosure repair attempts that forced me to buy a new one.

I tried the bios of an option to disable the restart in the event of system failure so I could read the error message, but it only gave me discover that HP has less useful bios in the world and that no such possibility existed; Yes I have updated the bios. Start/hardware error logs contained no data also, what so ever.

The hard drive is fine, I ran it in my office for several days. a BSoD happens within his laptop several times a day.

I don't know what to do at this point is that I have nothing to work outside of, I hope someone has a useful idea. The laptop is no longer under warranty, but this is ridiculous, how fast this thing is falling apart (literally... screws are only randomly drop the case).

Yes I really don't think that this is the case. As mentioned above is not my laptop so I'll probably wait until he decides to restart not at all before eventually taking an iron to be welded to it. Thanks for all the information, assume that nothing can be done at this stage.

    Hello Steven,

Did you ever receive notifications that a virus or malware has been removed from your system recently?
My only thought is that it is the remains of an infection on your machine.
It is most likely harmless, but I don't understand why you'd be concerned.
Do you have any task scheduled to run at startup using Task Scheduler built into Windows?
I would check to see if there are tasks to run at startup:

  • Failure to synchronize the events the weekend on iOS

I have the events of end of week at the end of a month and the beginning of the next, recurring or other, who appear correctly on the calendar on my Mac application, but does not synchronize to iCloud or my iOS devices. Jens

    Hey

This could be linked to the "ftp" being civic record. For example the software (software endpoint) directory may be located outside the directory wwwTMS. This is a requirement now to have the directories accessible from the web in the folder wwwTMS. Do you store the software outside of this folder and that's the file ON WHAT TMS points?

    Hello

Windows Firewall writes entries in the security log when a computer is started and when a program or system service attempts to listen for unsolicited incoming traffic but is blocked. These topics provide information about the State and the configuration of the Windows Firewall, including information about applications and ports that allow traffic through Windows Firewall. These entries also has information on ports and protocols a program or system service attempts to use for you can configure required exceptions in Windows Firewall. These security log entries are viewed with Event Viewer, which can filter event ID entries. Associated with the firewall event ID Windows are of the order of 848 through 861.

Here is some information of the Windows Firewall to let us know that there are listening applications on the machine. We can view the logs and determine if it's something that we want to listen for incoming traffic on the machine or not.

You can run an online scan to ensure that your computer is free of viruses and spyware.

A quick way to search for viruses is to use an online, such as the Microsoft Safety Scanner scanner. The scanner is a free online service that helps you identify and remove viruses, clean your hard drive and generally to improve the performance of your computer.

To run the Microsoft Safety Scanner:

    a. go to the page Web of the Microsoft Safety Scanner Download scan.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    b. click on Download nowand then follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    It will be useful.

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.

    Thank you.

First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard.  Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation.  This should go a long way toward you're going to get.  If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot.  You can't port XP perfectly the way you did.   It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer.
