Just recently, my satellite pro m76e ceased to recognize blank CDs. If I stick a CD it recognizes that it is a CD, but if I click, it throws an error message indicating that "D:\ is not accessible. The drive works fine for everything else. It's just empty CD. Any advice would be welcome.

    Hello

One question; Why you want to read a blank CD? ?:|
As you say all the CD and DVD is recognized, but only the blank CD cannot be read.

Regarding the driversa? ... you're right, the update of the driver is not necessary and is not possible because the Windows operating system uses a clean Microsoft drivers to run the ODD.

Recently, I uninstalled Nero 7 Essentials on my computer.  Now my drive (D :) no longer works.  I tried to install Nero again, but the drive recognize more no disc when I put it.  What should I do to fix this?

On reboot, Windows should automatically detect the new hardware and install a driver.  Once this done, go to Device Manager and select update.  Or go to the manufacturer of your computer and get an update for the reader.

  • Reads music CDs, but does not recognize blank CD - r

I have long used Nero or Roxio to burn some CD - Rs without problem. I recently tried to install Exact Audio Copy (EAC), which has worked flawlessly for years on my old computer, but all attempts to plant resulted in the Blue Screen Of Death, so I uninstalled it. I can still play music CDs, but none of the burning (Nero, Roxio, Windows Media Center) programs recognize blank CD - r (and Yes, I always use the same type and brand of CD - R). I also tried the Microsoft Fix It solution center, who acknowledged the problem but no solution offered. Any suggestions?

    Hello

    1. is this Microsoft fix it tool display error message associated with CD/DVD not getting not recognized?

You can follow the steps below and check if that helps you solve the problem.

You can temporarily try to remove or uninstall the writing software CD or DVD of third party such as Nero or Roxio installed on the computer and check if you are able to access the CD / DVD. If it works fine, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the software to check if you need to make changes to write to DVD.

If you have Norton Installed on the computer, you can try disabling the software Norton temporarily to see if it solves the problem. Subsequently reactivate after verification.

If the previous step fails, then check the condition of the disc on the computer using Manager devices and post back with the details.

Also check the updated drivers available for the DVD player by visiting the website of the automaker.

    Open the Device Manager

  • DVD - RAM drive does not recognize blank CD

When I check the properties of the DVD-RAM drive before inserting a CD, to the title of the record, I find the check box turn on CD on this drive already ticked. After that I insert a blank CD in the drive, DVD - RAM turns to CD. When I double-click on the CD icon, a warning message appears "D:\is is not accessible. Incorrect function ". When I opened the properties with the blank CD in the drive, I see that the box enable CD recording was erased. Not to mention that the screens of CD Free properties 0, use 0. If I once again re-checkmark the box above then CD resumes its normal operation with Windows built-in CD burning software, but continues to display an incorrect number of bytes in the areas of free / used. I installed on my Roxio Drag-to-Dsc computer. Let me emphasize that my DVD player had performed flawlessly with Roxio installed from the beginning. This problem came only recently. Is it possible to disable Roxio without uninstalling the computer?

    Hi Richard,

You can check if the following is useful.

Method 1: Run the next Fixit tool to check the issue.

Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media

    Method 2:

Step 1: Uninstall and reinstall the Device Manager DVD player. Automatically search for updates to the firmware on the manufacturer's Web site.

    a. click the Start button and then right click on my computer. Click on properties.

    b. click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

    c. now, expand the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, click with the right button on the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and click on uninstall.

    d. restart the computer.

Step 2: Log on to the DVD drive manufacturer's website and install the latest updates from driver\firmware.

I don't think that there is a way to just disable Roxio. For more help, you can contact Roxio support.

    Hello!

I knew someone who had the same problem with a desktop PC. It turns out the optical drive was really fussy on the disks were used!

If the disc you have is a + R or + RW then indicate a-r or RW - or vice versa. Sometimes some brands may not work in your drive too, so you may need to try a few different types to see what works for you!

If you still cannot operate, the drive itself may be at fault and will need replacement.
