HP Pavilion DV6 DVD disc not recognized and the media player does not work
My HP DV6 is having... issues. Windows 7. A little history:
Recently (2 months ago) he quit the installation of the updates of Windows and would download 3 whenever I stop. HP support could not help or Fix - It programs work. Had to restore it to factory default and that solved THIS problem.
Reading card camera (which I have done before) attempted recently, but he did not read / was not recognized. Today, tried to launch a DVD, and when it does not start automatically, I discovered that it is not recognized.
Tried HP Support Assistant, who told me that the model # of the DVD drive that I was using, then proceeded to say there was something wrong with the driver... and he couldn't fix it.
More? (Windows Explorer, not Internet) will be often expire or crash...
I have Norton Internet Security with live update and have yet to have virus problems.
Any help or questions greatly appreciated!
To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type regedit in the Search box, and then click regedit in the programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click continue. - Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Click Start, type regedit in the Search box, and then click regedit in the programs list.

Tecra S1: DVD ROM not recognized burner (Plextor PX-608AL)
Hi all
I bought a DVD ROM Writer (Plextor PX-608AL) that is not recognized by my Tecra S1 with XP Pro.
I installed the latest BIOS v2.50 as well as the latest Windows patches.
To the search, in the Setup of the BIOS (ESC during startup), the drive is not available.
I tested the drive in my old non - Toshiba with Win2k laptop with no problems.
Mounting frame is also OK (tested with the original Toshiba DVD ROM)
Y at - there a trick to getting a 3rd disc part DVD working in a Tecra notebook?
What is generally a problemThanks for reading my ad and you answers or advice
Klaus
Hello
It won't be very easy get your new work of drive on your S1, I will explain why:
Most DVD players for laptops (including your Plextor 608AL) do not have jumpers to set
their place according to the requirements of the laptop.
Three settings are available: master/slave/CableSelectMost Toshiba laptops require the CD to react as a secondary master drive, unfortunately
a disc factory settings in bulk comes as a disk Primary Master or CS.There are two options how to get to missing jumpers to make it work.
(1) thanks to a new firmware patch that has this option defined by the software based on Toshiba standard or
(2) by a bridge of material on some pins to the back of the drive. As you can see, both options will cancel the guarantee of the reader and are not easy for a techie/technician.
As for option 1) on the search for a suitable firmware... no there are none available now. I checked the official site of Plextor, but also sites of patch firmware... NO CONCLUSION.
According to another Forum, business Plextor responded to a request for a firmware adapted with this answer:start of quote:
Dear Sir.The drive is detected beeing as a master drive.
This setting cannot be changed. Are there no rider to do so.
How mount you the device to your laptop, it's up to you.
It of different for every laptop and either found in the manual of books or you can request that information from the manufacturers for your laptop.Kind regards
end quote (source: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=199145 )As in option 2), it requires some skills with soldering and I do not think that this forum is suitable for me to explain this procedure. You should google around to find the procedure "pin 47 ashore" on your own, taking all the risks of losing the warranty and/or the drive on your own.

Pavilion Slimline s5-1020: DVD drive not recognized in Device Manager
My rarely used DVD player no longer works. Here are the things I have seen/made:
-J' updated to Windows 10. It may or may not have stopped working before the update.
-I update Windows automatically, and everything seems to be in order there.
-The DVD seems to be operational, insofar as you can hear it turn when a disc is inserted.
-Setup recognizes, and it is enabled; It is not at all in Device Manager or in the file Explorer.
Based on the things I've tried, there are indications that it may be either a hardware or a software problem (or both?):
SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
I followed these as much as possible:
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c03370738_NoDriveWin8
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c01895589_resetpower
http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-CD-DVD-read-only/read-this-for-CD-DVD-drive-with-burning-Missin...
-I got disconnected/reconnected the drive.
-J' tried various DVD I knew to do.
-I don't have to update the BIOS, given warnings.
- Nor did I mess with registry filters.
-J' tried to find a Microsoft Fixit solution, but the one referenced somewhere in these pages don't apply to this OS - I think it was for Win 7. I tried MS Control Panel convenience stores, but none of them worked.
So I can't say whether or not it is a software problem.
HARDWARE PROBLEM?
-J' have set the boot on the CD order in configuration and the desktop with Windows 7 HP Pavilion system repair disc - nothing happened, he went straight to the HD (even if I had turned off). So that leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem after all.
Do I have other options at this point, except maybe buy another drive? And in fact if I do, it is possible that one does not work either? While you are not alone in this problem, here's a thread that deals with her.
See if that helps

Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

I don't know how it happens but my computer shows no dvd/cd rom section and with which the CD and the DVD does not play on my computer hp laptop
Hello michelleruth27,
If the CD/DVD drive is missing from your computer, I suggest you run by following the below Fix - it. This will automatically diagnose and repair problems with your CD or DVD drive when trying to read or burn media:
http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/cd_dvd_drive_problems
If this does not resolve the problem, you can try to do these steps manually.
1. click on start this image and then click on all programs.
2. click on accessories and then click Run.
3 type regedit, and then click OK, if you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or click on allow.
In the navigation pane, find and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. in the right pane, click UpperFilters.
Note: You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 8.
5. on the Edit menu, click on delete.
6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
7. in the right pane, click LowerFilters.
Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content cannot help you. Go to the section "Next steps" to learn how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
8. in the Edit menu, click on delete.
9. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
10. exit the registry editor.
11. restart the computer.
Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/ ) how to back up and restore the registry in Windows.

DVD drive not recognized.
Hello
My dvd player no longer works. Then when I type 'my computer' only the C & D drives appear. Tried the "Microsoft Fix It" who could not solve the problem. Also tried Control Panel, Manager of devices and uninstall but this has been removed and the name of the drive and now when I go into the Device Manager even I have 2 drives: IMD-0 and WDC WD2500BEVS-22USTO. My toshiba drive disappeared.
Can you help me?
Thank youRobbie
