As mentioned by Alexander22, please try to check if your CD/DVD drive detects disks. If it isn't then there may be a problem with the disc you have.

However, if not, then please try following the instructions in the link below for CD/DVD drive issues.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 - your CD or DVD cannot read or write media.

    Hello

In my opinion the new CD/DVD drive doesn t work because it s is not compatible due to bad settings master/slave/C-salt.

The point is that these parameters can be changed using a jumper. The firmware controls these parameters and therefore not all CD/DVD players are compatible.

My user's manual contains all compatible with my laptop CD/DVD players.
Maybe you should take a look in you user manual for details on compatible players.

If you don't get any what s information on supported CD/DVD players then contact ASP in your country and guys should be able to tell what drive s are compatible.

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro L40 - 15A.

I was recommended to use AFUDOS on another forum, but telling me that the bios has a boot not block valid.

With very old BIOS versions like what you have, you will need to step up the BIOS versions in order.  You don't need to intensify in each version, just a couple of big no.

Keep us updated... I think you will like the new BIOS versions, and I post it is better to update the BIOS to go into BIOS, rather than inside Windows.

I think you should wait 60 days for version 10 of Windows to see if it can solve the problem.  10 Windows will automatically make sure you have good drivers (course to 99%).

It is possible that he is in fact a BIOS problem.  But all the advice I would give risk possible to break your computer permanently, and I don't want to do that because there's a pretty good computer (with the exception of windows xp).

I'm guessing Windows 10 retail copy will be cheap enough to buy.  I can't say with certainty that your computer will be in charge of windows 10, but I think it will be.

Also, even if it has nothing to do with your current number, you can not simply exchange cpu like this safely without applying new thermal paste.  There are a few videos on youtube from the manufacturers of motherboards that show you how to clean the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste.  Make sure that the videos that you watch come from a motherboard manufacturer, not some Joe Blow.

And then if Windows 10 doesn't fix it, you have to decide at that point, if you want to take the risk of bricking messing with the BIOS of your computer permanently.

I'm sure you know that Windows XP is not supported and that there is a security risk.

    Good luck!

Edit: Here's an alternative to Windows XP that works well for older computers of XP.

I also get a STOP error message when I try to boot BartPE and UBCD4Win Ubuntu CD and dam * Small Linux CD put an end to a white screen.

In Vista, when I was creating the restore disks game factory (ThinkVantage: create product recovery discs), when I tried to use a few different brands of DVD + R discs, it would always refuse to launch the operation with the message: "drive is not ready or is busy performing another operation.  Technical Lenovo support just suggested that I use CD instead, I had to do the work (12 CD).  But I have not yet dug father on that to see if the drive will burn DVD under another program, or if the hardware itself is defective.  It does not seem to play a very good DVD.

    Everyone recognizes these problems?

    -John Hupp

It turns out that there are two problems.  STOP error and start-up of similar problems are due to the lack of support for the disk SATA controller.  The solution is to temporarily change the configuration of the BIOS for SATA from AHCI to Compatible.

The problem with the messages of error during the Rescue and Recovery disc creation operation is simply due to my not reading the specs of the laptop carefully.  Only, it came with a drive combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM - DVD writer not)!

  • CD rom only reads or writes data

After several days to burn backup discs, my computer cd rom drive to read data from the drive.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

  • Satellite L750-11W - cannot write data to the DVD-ROM drive

I have the laptop for about 2 years
I have never used dvd - ram to write only for playback
Early on, I noticed there was some lag before you begin to hear the sound of the DVD-ram, but it don't think it was a question

Today, I tried to write files to a dvd. I inserted the blank dvd and waited and waited nothing happened.
I tried to access the dvd - ram but nothing. I checked the game automatic and chosen options always ask. Re-inserted the blank dvd and waited a few minutes, then the Autoplay menu appears. I selected the option to burn with windows software, selected files, pressed burn, whereas it was over. Reinsert the dvd and guess what... it was empty. None of the files have been written on the DVD.

I watched the dvd (in the back) clearly nothing has been written.
I installed nero, and first of all, I checked the write speed.
Well in the specifications, he says that this dvd - ram must write with 8 x.
Nero told me that she could write with only 4 x. Then I tried to write the files with Nero.

Waited for 10 minutes (time estimated by nero) and the dvd was ejected and nero says writing has failed at 4 x.
I looked on the dvd. There were some marks, but the dvd should have been full.

In any case the dvd was wrecked... visited the site Web of Toshiba and creator of disc uploaded... Installed... reboot the laptop... start disk creator of... Well what a shock I kept getting the same error:

    An unexpected error has occurred.
    Error code: 320097-49-00000001
    Press ok

100 times the error persists until the program starts and he tells me that there are no recordable disks attached. Now, I'm really disappointed.
    What can I do?

  • Is no longer possible to write on the drive CD - RW with Windows XP SP3. Could write to the drive of CD-ROM under Windows XP SP1. How can I find a cd - rw disk write access?

My Dell Dimension 8250 with XP was initially equipped with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2.0.91 which enabled me to write on the CD drive (NEC CD - RW NR-9100). Later found out that the installation of Service Packs (2 or 3) disabled this feature. In an attempt to burn a CD will result in cancellation error during the writing process. Running MS Fixit tells me that my records are incapable of burning. I tried to uninstall Roxio Easy CD Creator via the Control Panel Add/Remove Harware/software and then reinstalled Easy CD Creator. Upon restart, this caused re-installing my computer immediately close with a blue screen message that the problem was caused by the fault of the file Cdr4_xp.sys (Driver_unloaded_without_cancelling_pending_operations). Then, I restored to a previous/y configuration work and uninstalled the Easy CD Creator. I can still read CD, simply, I can't burn. My question is, what can be done to restore this ability of burning CD or what kind of options are available for me to find this feature?

Note: Reading other forums (Roxio and others), I find that Roxio Easy CD Creator does not work with Windows XP. The upgrade to another operating system is not an option that I need XP for other devices that are not compatible with Vista and a later version of the Windows operating system.

I hope that you may be able to help.

Sorry, I wanted to write in my notation at the end, was that Service Pack 1 of Windows XP works with Roxio Easy CD creator that came with the machine. However, after later SP, writing ability fails. That is what I had read in the forums, and what seems to me be a.

This isn't a correct information.  At least, Roxio Easy CD Creator v. 5.3.2.35a works fine on my XP Pro sp3 machine.

Of course, this information didn't you all good... and at this point, after running a FixIt, uninstall, reinstall, do a system restore, and everything you have done, I have particularly good advice to get the CD Creator to work for you.

If you want to try something (with a small chance to make matters worse - assuming that you can now get the CD player to burn using integrated Windows - see the article cited by Shenan Stanley), here you go...

Download Easy CD Creater 5.3.5: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd_dvd/burning/easy_cd_creator_plt_upgrade.cfm this download, however, is an upgrade, and I don't know if it will install after uninstalling the version 5.2.0.  Assuming that you can not install this update in your current...

What you could try - and no guarantees here - is to download the trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro and run it in progressively more aggressive modes, until you get to the mode "forced uninstall" to ensure that all traces of your previous installation of Roxio is gone.

After you have uninstalled all traces of the Roxio program, run system restore to create a restore (just in case) and then open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK), right click on your CD drive and select uninstall.  Restart Windows should detect the CD drive and install the default Windows drivers.

Then, reinstall your current install media Roxio and finally install the 5.3 update.

As an alternative to the last step - especially if you're hesitant to download software from the site of AfterDawn (I don't know anything on them, one way or the other), you can buy a full version (but open box) of Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum for around $11 or 6 Platinum for $7
