is it a toshiba tool to do the job of ssd?

"" Toshiba does not provide any ' SSD repair tools.
But to be honest, the SSD hardware malfunction can not be fixed... before SSD drive begin to malfunction, you should always back up the data.

  • Change the SSD or RAM in Portege Z10t?

    Hello

As we know that it is very easy to change the RAM memory or the Portégé R700-930 series SSD drive.
It's a little more complicated for the Z series.

I just wanted to know if this is possible for the new series of Z10t?
The standard elements of 4G and 128G are a bit small for my taste.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think the upgrade on Portege Z10T is another story and not comparable with other series such as Portege R700.

The Portege Z10T is a mixture of Tablet / netbook device and mSATA SSD drive is placed within the tablet that is not upgraded to the user.

If 128GB are not enough for you, you can insert and use the extra memory media into the SD card slot

  • Portege R500 - can I change the SSD?

Hello. The question of replacement, replace the ssd.

I myself PORTEGE R500 (PPR50U-02M01W version) with SAMSUNG_MCCOE64GQMPQ_SE805B0137. He has only 64 GB.

I contacted Toshiba service asking to replace by something big, they said it's impossible! HOW DO I? It should be possible to replace the 64 GB SSD 256 GB SSD!

If anyone can give me the link to SSD, who's going to fit 100% into my existing ssd will be very grateful!

    > I contacted Toshiba service asking to replace by something big, they said it's impossible! HOW DO I? It should be possible to replace the 64 GB SSD 256 GB SSD!

And why wouldn't this possible? The technician said that?
To my knowledge, it should be possible to use any disk SSD because SSD drives use the same interface as ordinary hard drives

As far as I know there is a common controller SATA and SSD with SATA interface should work

    That s in my opinion

  • How to control the fan on Portege Z830?

I have a Portege Z830 with BIOS version 1.7 and I am very upset by the noise of the fan.
I was wondering if it is possible to control the fan noise, so I started to experiment with a little utility called SpeedFan. I put in place so that the fan will not turn on until the temperature of the processor exceeds a defined number. But it does not; It seems that the BIOS is ignorant these parameters.

So my question is how can I set the fan to work my way?

There are not many options to control the fan.

The fan is controlled by the BIOS. The fan table that is stored in the BIOS contains information how a cooling module must operate.

As mentioned by Liam, you can change the settings of power plant of Win 7 more battery as a way to minimize the performance of fans
    This should help a little...

In other http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65068 thread, I found a neat trick of the last user... He replaced Z830 fan with the fan of Z930 origin...
    It worked.

I have a Portege z830 - 10: 00 for a few months. It's battery has already lost 15% of capacity, and I think it is inevitable that the battery will be neet to replace sooner or later.

You know, if I am able to replace the battery myself (as in the large full notebooks)? Or it can be done only in the service of Toshiba?

What can be the replacement by Toshiba service cost?

This Portege a specific design for the battery must be replaced by Toshiba service and persons who are authorized for this work.

It is not easy to say how much it costs. I don t know where do you live, but the price can be different in different countries in order to better you can do is contact nearest authorized maintainer and look for info on the price.

  • How can I change the keyboard on Portege R500?

    Hello everyone,

    I get a Toshiba - 10J Portege R500, with the QWERTY keyboard.
I want to change it with the QWERTY keyboard, because I usually use the French.

But I don't know on the net the explanation or detail to achieve this.
Someone get some photos or some tips to change the keyboard on this laptop.

    Thank you

Do you want really to replace by yourself and lose the warranty?
The Portégé R500 is a portable large company and I think that it s not the cheaper one.

In your case, I would not risk losing the warranty.
So ask the Toshiba service provider in your country for a keyboard layout AZERY-compatible and for replacement.

I think that it s safe.

  • How to change the keyboard on Portege M300-101?

    Hello

I have a Portege M300-101, and I would like to know if there are instructions online for how to change the keyboard itself. Our unit comes with, I think, a Belgian keyboard installed... and a U.S. keyboard in the box. Are there instructions available for how to move on the keyboards? Also, I guess it's a good idea to switch the keyboard before turning on the laptop for the first time. Do you agree?

    Best,
    Dainis W. Michel

    Hello Danis

Unfortunately there is no public document on this subject. You can try to do it alone, but please don t forget that on this guarantee valid path will be cancelled. Basically, the replacement of keyboard is not well complicated and technicians may need 15 minutes to do.

In my opinion, you can take a risk and pay for replacement before losing the valid guarantee. The Portege is very expensive and of damage to property, it is very risky to be unsecured.

If you still think that you do not write anything again.

  • Reinstalling windows 7 ultimate retail after changing the SSD, the motherboard and the processor. I'm having a problem with the reactivation?

I'll upgrade my desktop PC, by changing the motherboard, processor and SSD drive with the OS on it to boot. I have a problem with the reactivation of windows, and should I turn it off, somehow first, or the previous version will be considered as-enabled automatically? It is a retail, windows 7 64 ultimate version. Please advise, thanks in advance.

    Just reactivate by phone:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950929/en-us

Remember, if it is a retail upgrade license:

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

You can skip to enter the product key and try the activation of the phone to work around this problem.

  • Is it possible to change the keyboard to Portege M700?

Is it possible to change a U.S. keyboard in a German keyboard at the Portege m700? Is how easy it to change? How much is a German keyboard?

Are there other differences between a U.S. and a German Version of the M700?

    Ty, welcomes
    Thomas

It IS possible, and there should be no technical difference between these keyboards. I Don t know if it s very difficult to exchange a keyboard but it shouldn´t be.
Today I would recommend you to refer to an authorized partner and order this part here. It may be appropriate to ask them to respect the terms of the warranty after replacing such a keyboard by yourself because if damage you something you can lose the warranty on your machine.

    Welcome them

P.S.: You can find the nearest available service partner simply by visiting the website of laptops toshiba official and check out the Support section.

    Hello

The password of the BIOS and the supervisor password can be removed in the area of security of BIOS.

Please also check this Toshiba document.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0B032D0000R01.htm

In some cases, you need to press the "INS" in Toshiba logo appears.
Then appears a prompt for the password for the supervisor and if the password is certified then the BIOS could be entered by pressing the "F2" key

  • Satellite Z930-12Z - add RAM and replace the SSD

    Hi all

I'm new here and read some articles also on the Z930-12Z Satelite but I have two questions on the Satellite Z930-12Z:

    1. What is the maximum RAM for Satellite Z930-12Z? There are two locations inside or accommodation?
I read this blog, but I don't understand if there are two slots or a slot...
    https://Forum.Toshiba.EU/showthread...Llite-Z930-12Z

    2. could I change the SSD? Is there a maximum GB for SSDS for my Ultrabook? No matter what SSD I install?

    I had these SSDS:
    2.1 Kingston SMS200S3 / 480 G SSD 480 GB (6.4 cm (2.5 '' mSATA)
    2.2 MZ-M5E500BW Samsung SSD 500 GB (mSATA)

No matter what SSD I install?

    Thank you in advance!

    Rebecca Bugday

Two DIMM slots with 16 GB support apparently. You won't need 16 GB. Take a set of 2 x 4 GB RAM dual channel, I'll leave a link to a few good things that I use for my cell phone 16 GB

    http://www.ebuyer.com/646124-HyperX-...1779&PKW=&Pmt=

Also, Yes, of course, you can change the SSD, you will need to get some kind of USB 3.0 in the first mSATA interface and clone the existing drive overall, because laptops do not want fresh windows install.

  • Pavilion x 2: Windows product key Validation after hardware change (new SSD)

I have a Pavilion laptop x 2 with a 64 GB SSD.  It came with Windows 8.1 but he now works Windows 10 - of course.  I decided to upgrade the 256 GB SSD.  I bought the appropriate module (a Sandisk).  I recently contacted Windows support to inquire about the procedure to validate the OS once I did the material exchange.  I wasn't sure how it would work since my x 2 Pavilion has incorporated into BIOS product key.  Microsoft told me that because I was going to do a hardware change I would need a new product key (in other words my laptop current product key would be 'blocked').  I was able to recover the product key of my Pavilion x 2 (OEM and installed keys - what is the difference?).

Does anyone have experience in this field?  Once I have replace the SSD and perform a clean install Windows 10, will be the key to product embedded BIOS validate operating system or it will reject?  Since I'm NOT buying a HP SSD (with preloaded operating system) and that my x 2 Pavilion is now long out of warranty?  I really have to pay over a hundred dollars for a new Windows operating system license?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

    Francis

Parameters indicate that I have a digital right so with a bit of luck when I change the SSD and install Windows 10, the machine must validate without a qualm.  I tried to see if I could link my Validation of my Microsoft account but I did not have this option on my settings (although in the past when I re-install Windows 10, link validation of my Microsoft account operating system so I guess it works.)  Also, I guess I have the anniversary edition from my machine updated automatically.

If all else fails, I'll see how it goes after the SSD upgrade and if I have to deal with Microsoft.  I also agree with you that change the SSD (essentially the ' drive') is NOT a significant change in equipment and shall not impose a new product key, but then, nothing surprises me more.

Your tips were helpful and I thank you.

  • HP 15: Switch to the SSD

I want to change the SSD hard drive, but I'll always be able to use the version of windows OEM?

I heard that the key is on the BIOS?

    Hello:

You should be fine as long as the hard drive you buy is not much smaller than the one supplied with your laptop, and you plan to use the disc/card reader of recovery than you did when you got your PC.

Or, if you have OEM W8.1 installation media.  The product key automatically fills a valid operating system installation.

I'm about to do it myself.  I bought a HP 350 G1 in February with a 500 GB hard drive and I bought a 240 GB Intel SSD 535.  It was delivered, but I don't him have not yet received.

I hope that the recovery disks that I made will work on the 240 GB hard drive.

But the first thing I'll try to see if I can just put the last backup system image I did in Windows on the new SSD, so I can't do a thing to update or reinstall programs, files, etc.

However, I have the chance to have a real HP W8.1 Pro OEM installation disc where the recovery disks do not work.

My laptop came with W8.1 Pro demoted to W7 Pro.

The recovery media that I made was to W7 Pro, but since I intend to switch to W10 anyway, if I have to use the installation of W8.1 on the new SSD disk, it will be fine for me.

You can also see if doing your own installation of Microsoft W8.1 media will work with the product key in your laptop.

  • Portege Z830: cannot change the brightness of the display using FN buttons in XUbuntu

    Hello world

It is not possible to control the brightness of the Fn key on my Portege Z830 - Xubuntu 11.10 new

The brightness is at maximum and too high.

Do you know how to control?

    Thanks for your time,

    James

    Hello

As far as I know this kind of thing is controlled by software. Problem is that Toshiba doesn't support Linux and doesn't offer any software that controls it.
What you can do is to visit some Linux forum and share your experiences here.

Maybe some of the Linux experts here have an idea how to do it.

  • Portege Z830: Create the recovery and removal on SSD USB recovery partition?

    Hello

I already found a lot of discussions around the question how to increase free space on the SSD drive.

Is it possible to remove the recovery partition after you create a recovery key USB with the tool 'Create a Toshiba Recovery media'?
    No risk?

If it would be possible, how it is possible to assign the space gained on the C: partition?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

    > Is an option to remove the recovery partition after you create a recovery key USB with the tool 'create a Toshiba Recovery media "?
    > No risk?

Well, the recovery partition would create again when the laptop recovery procedure using disk recovery or the flash memory stick recovery

So if you want to remove the 2nd partition, you must create this disc/USB stick recovery before changing something on the HARD drive.
