Compatibility between Mac Lion and HP Officejet Pro 8500 problem

I've recently updated to Mac OS x Lion. I went to analyse today, but I get an error message on the connection between the scanner and the printer has been lost. The downloadable scanning utility does not seem to be made for Mac, let alone OS x Lion. Is there a work around or the update driver?

First of all, download and install this: support.apple.com/kb/DL907

Then, download and install the full features software: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-97933-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=4116838&sw_lang=

  • Mac does not print Officejet Pro 8500

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless.  Last week I set up with a Belkin wireless router.  I work on both OS - a Windows WP and Mac Lion.  The XP is print wirelessly, without a break.  I got the Mac to recognize the printer, and Mac utility will print the wireless test pages.  However, when I send regular (of any type) documents to the printer, they never proceed with printing.  The window of State says they are printing, but nothing ever happens.

I have already invested 20 hours in this and I hope that someone here might be able to help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and you have the HP software before Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the software HP on your Mac before you upgrade - even if you made a standard from the old software uninstaller or installed new software on top of it) , you must uninstall the software by using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
    Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard at the same time as you click on uninstall< this="" is="" the="" scrubber="" option,="" there="" is="" no="" button="" labeled="">
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Restart your Mac

    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

    Now reset the printing system:

    -Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
-Right (control) click inside the box that lists your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign + to add again. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Until it clicks.

  • Mini 110 and driver OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500 909 g installed a few months, and it works very well with three laptops from Dell and a Dell desktop computer using the wireless connection.  Then, I bought an HP Mini 110 and tried to install the drivers for the 8500 from the disk provided with the 8500.  During the system check that the installer has determined that the screen resolution of 1024 x 576 of the Mini 110 was insufficient and demanded a screen resolution pass at 800 x 600.  Tried installing online - same problem w / ground 1024 x 576.  Got in a chat online with an HP technician - it offered to download and install the HP DeskJet 990c driver and gave me clear instructions on how to do so, claiming that he was 'the solution '.  While I am has not opposed in principle to 'the solution', I asked too many questions and either it bailed out put or the session has expired.

    The questions are:

    (1) the 990 c driver is actually a viable solution?  Some other threads I've read indicate that "mixing and matching" printers and drivers can have unexpected and unwanted results.

    (2) I've read how to 'force' a change of screen resolution of 800 x 600, which probably (?) will I would install the 8500 drivers - but what happens if I change the sdcreen back to 1024 x 576 ground?  The ration of aspect printer or the print size or appearance get all messed up?

    (3) why does it matter even the resolution of the screen?  Is it a question of WYSIWYG?  If it does so then 1024 x 576 ground is going to be a problem w / almost any printer, is not?

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Don

The software requires a minimum of 800 x 600 resolution so that the HP software can be completely visible on the screen. If the vertical resolution is less than 600, then there is a chance of the window not being is not completely visible, and so you may have problems using the scanner software. Follow the document below to force the resolution to 800 x 600 temporarily to install the software. Once you change the resolution back to the native, the software will work, but the window CAN be cut and not be entirely visible.

  • Re: HP Officejet Pro 8500 problem has with black ink printing

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 a. I've done a clean print head.  I have a lot of HP black ink cartridges.  Print head State says black is good.  I get hardly any black printing.  All the colors are fine.  Help!

    Hi @di43

I appreciate the troubleshooting you have already completed to solve the problem. I understand that the black ink not print as expected. Even if you already have some of the steps in the following document, I suggest you fill all the solutions advocated in the order they are presented, even if it means something you already tried; Printer prints a blank Page is not printing black or color of ink for the printer series e-all-in-one-HP Officejet Pro 8500.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 problem has scan (new)

Mac 10.5.8 (Leopard, Snow Leopard no)

I can't find any interface or driver for scanning, except the screen on the printer.

Use of the screen, I have the choice of jpg and pdf (also by e-mail, but who do not need).

Jpg: Gives Me a 200 dpi file that is only a part of 6 "x 4" of the page.

PDF: Give me the whole page and I can "save under" a tiff file or anything else since Acrobat up to 1200 dpi, but the resolution is certainly not the 4800dpi promised in the specification of this machine. And there is no mention of the color depth.

    Where is the driver!

I have never had a scanner that didn't come with a driver that could be imported into PhotoShop, offering an interface for different resolutions and cropping.

    Should I remove this printer?

If so, is there an all-in-one that will scan photos properly?

By the way, I was on the chat for a long time yesterday, because the yellow cartridge sunk and emptied at the time the implementation has been full. Cat person told me to call phone support today, but one of the service centres is down and the tree of phone hangs up on me.

This is a very disappointing experience!

    Hello!

Is that what you have already installed the printer software in your computer?

If this isn't the case, run the disc that came with the printer and you will see the user interface for scanning.

For more information, click on the link below.  It is precisely for your printer and the issue.  Good luck!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a: 8500 a plug the USB to the PC and wireless for Mac

Our Officejet Pro 8500 a is connected via USB to our HP Pavilion running Windows 7. This connection works well. However, I tried to connect my iMac (OS 10.10.2) to the wireless printer with no success. If I disconnect the USB from the PC, I can connect wirelessly from my Mac. My question is: the Officejet Pro 8500 a does support multiple types of connections - one by USB and the other by wireless? If so, then I would appreciate help to understand why my Mac is not the 8500.

Other details: our wireless router is Apple Airport Extreme. The wireless connection on the printer seems to work (I can print the details of this connection). However, when I try to add the 8500 to the Mac by using add printer, the printer does not appear. (The printer is lit and shows five bars of signal strength, SSID is correct and a valid IP address).

My Mac is connected to the wireless network.

    Any suggestions?

I was able to solve the problem of the printer with ethernet connection to the router that provides network wireless for PC and Mac. Now two machines are able to access the printer with no problems. By connecting with an ethernet cable, connect the printer wireless has been disabled. It had to be done because the wireless radio had become unreliable. The idea was that the blue wireless light never came. Thus by connecting wired LAN, all problems are gone. Thanks to the team of Geed for help.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 909 a will not be re - install Mac 10.7.5

I am very frustrated with this issue, I'll have. Here are the bullets:

    • Running Mac 10.7.5 (Lion).  Printer is connected to this computer through the USB port.
    • Has started to receive messages on my all-in-one HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 909 a scanning would work not and check the documentation for the aid.
    • While looking online and through some troubleshooting, I deleted my print printer to attempt to reinstall fees.

The main problem I encounter is that I can't seem to re - install this printer no matter what I try.  Here's what I tried...

    • Tried to launch the HP (ver 2.3.15) CONFIGURATION UTILITY and DEVICE MANAGER HP (1.5.8) that was installed on this machine for the printer.  When going through the Setup utility, my device is not seen, so it is considered for a screen and then I invited me with a message that says that my device is not supported by the installer and I had to go to hp.com/support for more help.
    • When I go through SYS PREF > PRINT & FAX and try to click on the '+' to add a PRINTER, the printer never shows in the choice of 'default' as being same / connected.
    • When I go to find help on the support site, the indications only can I find tell me I should use for the Lion, update the Apple software to download the latest update (which I'm sure has already downloaded on this machine in the past).  Tried to restart my Mac, reboot and disconnect all the wires between the printer and Mac, to see if it would work the update of software this printer is connected.
    • I scoured the HP website to try to find the "utility installation hp for lion" install file, but it doesn't seem to be available as a manual download - each direction pointing right back on software updater.

It is where I am at-I feel like I'm stuck in this small black hole where I can't use the HP Installer on this machine b/c it is too old and I can't download something 'new' of Apple Software Updater.  I did go to the Apple website and download the drivers for Mac OS x Mountain Lion & Lion. I have installed for this machine, restart and still nothing that shows this as a connected USB printer.

    Help, please.

    Chad

    Hi chadkafka,

    4. connect the USB cable to a Mac and then select now, when it asks you to install the printer

I have not had any problems using the printer or scanner on the HP Officejet Pro 8500 has more when I had my old laptop to Windows 7. There was some HP software installed from a CD that allowed me to open the HP application and adjust the settings for scans, save multiple scans in a single PDF etc...

Since switching to a new Mac OSX desktop computer, I can't install it whatever that either the old CD from my Mac has no CD/DVD drive. The only application of HP on my Mac is now HP ePrint, and which does not seem to offer something to scan with.

The other option that have left me is to connect the Mac to the printer by USB, then choose:

Scan > computer > iMac > save in Jpeg.

But I get the following error message:

    "Connection error".

The connection to the computer is down or HP scanning application cannot detect the OCR software. Check the computer for more details".

What do I need to install, or the difficulty to get the scanner to work on my Mac please?

    Hello

I am not able to scan/print through HP officejet pro 8500 a909g 10.10.3 Mac.

I think because of no proper drivers, scanning/printing does not work.

    What should do?

    Hi @pan1490,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you cannot print or scan with your HP Officejet Pro 8500 a909g on Mac OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite to. And I'm happy to see it for you!

To verify that your printer hardware is functional, you are able to make copies of the scanner glass? Copy of a multi-page Original.

If you are able to copy, then I recommend to install this driver, HP v3.1 for OS X printer drivers, which is the only driver I know for this printer on Mac OS X 10.10.3 available. Please see this post, Re: iMac OS X 10.9.3 scan driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a A910a to iMac doesn't seem to be, by my colleague @Sunshyn2005. How to scan without HP on Mac software.

    Dear Sir

could you please provide me with the HP officejet Pro 8500 (A910a) a software driver for MacBook pro (OS X Yosemite v10.10.2) everything in is not available on the site.

    Kind regards

    Hello Sabrina,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you need the software and drivers for your printer on the Mac 10.10 operating system.

The reason why you are not able to locate is simple because they are not available at this time.

I have a suggestion that you can try.  Please click on the following link for HP v3.0 for OS X printer drivers.

This driver will give you the possibility to print from your Mac.  You can use the scan to Apple for any analysis software that is already on the Mac.

I hope this information is useful and if you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.

    See you soon,.
