Computer does not read discs

I bought a program that designs business cards for my business and when I insert the disc in the tray on my laptop and close the drawer, nothing happens. I hear a clicking noise, but nothing appears on the screen. I also tried a movie in the model, and it does not work either. I tried the disks in a different cell, and they do not work. Anyone know what could be the problem?  Thank you.

My cd/dvd drive does not read any discs be it, white, written or commercially written. It opens and closes and is light to show that he is working on. Device Manager indicates that the device is functioning properly.

Tried the update of drivers, no update available. Tried restoring the system back 1 day and 1 week and 1 month, then and still the problem cannot be corrected. When I put a cd/dvd in the drive and try to access it, it says: D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.

Can someone help me I tried everything my friends and I can think, or is it better to send just to toshiba warranty.

If the solution proposed by James will not help, you should try to remove the drive to CD/DVD in Device Manager.
After phone restart the operating system will recognize and initialize the disk again.
After this review of the procedure if you can read, write the middle.

  • The CD/DVD drive does not read discs

Hi, I have a COMPAQ Presario CQ40 with optiarc DVD RW AD - 7561 ATA Device driver, recently the drive does not work properly. It can read and burn the disc, that I already used, but when it's a new (disc white) it does not read the disc.  It has an error message "make sure that the disc uses a format windows recognizes. If the drive is not formatted, you must format it before you use it. "the disc is the format that would recognize the system.  I tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstalled from the Device Manager, but nothing works, tried too much microsoft fixit, always the same.  Hope that there is another work around here... • Computer does not read USB drives

    original title: USB keys

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • my new laptop does not read a USB

What happens when you insert the USB - anything?  He make up a menu of options or give you any error messages or anything like that?

If you go to start / computer use you see the USB it?  If so, double-click it to open it.  If this isn't the case, read on.

Go to start / Control Panel / administrative tools / computer management / disk management and see if you can see the USB it.  It cannot be listed with a letter, but it may still appear.  If it is there, please post any information on this subject, he said EXACTLY Word for Word.  If she's not here, it is not really considered by the system.

You have an another USB, you can try in the machine to see if she had somethiing to do with the stick rather than the PC?  You have another PC on which connect the stick to see if it works on another computer.  Have you ever used this front USB on any computer or is it new?

You have all other USB devices connected to your system and they work well?  If this isn't the case, you have a USB mouse or other device, you can test on the computer to see if it works (if we exclude a problem with the USB ports or USB drivers).

To be honest, as it is a new computer, I would contact the technical assistance service and to ask for help they should be happy to offer because it is a new computer from the computer.  They may be able to help more of us because they know that their systems better than we do (and I don't even know the manufacturer of your computer, the USB key, or almost anything).  In some cases, to play with the system without contacting them can void the warranty and you certainly don't want to do.

I hope this helps.  If not, please answer my questions and give me the results of the procedures I asked you to try (including contact with the manufacturer) and we will see where to go from there.

    Good luck!

  • computer does not read the disc

my computer used to read any disk and was able to burn CDs now it reads only DVDs. How can I fix

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check the cables
both ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power
and contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system manufacturer
and the manufacturer of the device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD &)
Burn DVDs and CDs and read DVDs). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational parts while
    others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates
and the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

  • CD/DVD does not read discs on Pavilion G6 2293SA laptop computer running Windows 8 :(

    Hey there

I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

I bought the G6 Pavilion in November last year. When I got home I went to a recognize (as recommended) recovery disks but the laptop there is a blank disc in the drive. I tried a couple of different brands, but nothing worked and I got to the PC world. They couldn't work out what the problem was if gave me a replacement, and exactly the same thing happened. They claimed that it was probably one of the "many problems with window 8'. Finally, I tried some Sony DVD - R discs and it worked (hooray!).

However, since that time the player rarely works properly. It seems to work ok program disks, but don't like them burn all discs. It has never worked through iTunes, for a few days, it let me burn some discs of music with Cyberlink Power2Go but it no longer works.

Sometimes when I go hard disk it will say there is no disk in it (when it exists) or is it in use? We'll see what he does today... OK, Virgin (Sony CD - RW) drive... the hard disk is whirring... but nothing happens on the screen. OK, navigate to my computer... Double-click the icon and it says: "How do you use this disk" and gives me two options: "as a USB' or 'player with a CD/DVD '. However, it only allows me to choose the first option (which I don't) and even if I click ok on the flash drive option, it says that the drive must be formatted, mess around trying to do for about 10 minutes and then says format failed.

Can anyone suggest anything? PC World that it is a software problem and my problem (thank you guys). Really grateful for any help.

    See you soon

    Paul

I suggest using the corresponding update firmware in the driver download section.  Who looks more like a problem of hardware/firmware for me. Use Device Manager to select the firmware update software good optical disc. If the firmware update does not resolve the problem, thencontact HPfor warranty repair.

If you can not get the card reader to work, it can be replaced or an external card reader is not
    Dear.

They go bad sometimes. Try these:

/ Settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 when you start then look at the screen - make sure that the USB port is enabled.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Control Panel - Device Manager - hard disk - drive SD card or similar - double click - tab driver-
Click on update drivers (this likely will do nothing that MS is far behind the certifying drivers) then right click
    following the UNINSTALL.

Now bring the controllers USB - right click - UNINSTALL everything in category one at time EXCEPT
the category itself - REBOOT. This will refresh the USB driver stack.

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

    Do 1 above.

USBDeview is a small utility that lists all USB devices currently connected to your computer, as
Although all USB devices that you previously used. Run Options and check the 1st three choices to
see if one is there. You can remove all instances of the drive and restart again.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Start - type in the search box - Windows Disk - find Windows Disk Management on the list above.
Right-click - look RUN AS ADMIN to see if there is a drive letter assigned or a conflict.

Check with the manufacturer of your system for the updated drivers - some card readers to do not use windows

    Hello

A question: have you used the Toshiba Recovery CD? If this isn't the case, please check if this problem appears on the image of Toshiba.

If you n t get messages from auto-start after inserting it into the drive DVD so I would first check the settings.
Please right click on the drive icon. Please select the AutoPlay tab.
There you can choose the dvd movie and select an action. Otherwise you can activate the prompt option me each time to choose an action

If this doesn't help then you can also try to remove the drive from Device Manager. After this procedure, please restart the device. The operating system should recognize the drive again. Then try to play new DVDs
