Computer doesn't recognize internet connection

My HP dv6000 family Window Vista premium Service pack 2 64-bit does not recognize my internet connection (local area connection or wireless network connection). The network icon has a red x and it says not connected, but actually I am connected to my wireless network. Also on the network and sharing Center I can't see any connection (no map) but don't forget, there is a connection with my wireless (a Netgear router on my desktop computer); If I open my wireless connection, he said that the network type is an Access Point. How can I change this? How can I make my connection wireless private when the connection does not appear on the network and sharing Center? I deleted my wireless network and set up again and always say the same thing.

I am able to use the internet, but I can't update any program using the updated window or another service on my laptop. I already did a restore of the system, but all that the same stills. Can anyone help me please with this situation? I have tried everything I know, but nothing seems to work.  Thank you.

Hello

I saw the Red X problem before but not with any other questions you have.

Follow these steps to remove corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

Start - type in the search box - find command top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

Then, run checkdisk - schedule it to run at next boot, then apply OK your way out, then restart.

After the foregoing:

Do a 1 Restore Point then you can go back to where you were if necessary.

Then:

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver-
Note the version - click on update driver (can't do anything as MS is far behind certifying)
drivers). Do the same for network (NIC) cards - then right click on the devices and UNINSTALL.
Reboot - it will refresh the driver stacks.

Now go look at the site of the manufacturer of the system for the updated drivers.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version.
(Those become your fonts of rescue system manufacturer).

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows

and then go look for new ones manually if you wish.

netsh int ip reset

netsh winsock reset

Make sure you know the details of connection to your router wireless and wired - SSID and password.

You lose connection when you do and have to redo your logon.

Control Panel - Network & Sharing Center - right, click Customize - define the network locations
page - down left click on merge or delete network locations - REMOVE all instances of your network
(and all the others you no longer use)-RESTART.

Other tips:

There are many causes, one of which is the small monitor pays attention to the wrong network
device. You can try to disable any other network such as the WiFi device and restart it to see if it
has an effect.

Still a hardware such as a network card problem loose which is not properly attached to the computer
can cause this.

Unless you have the SP1 and SP2 installed, there is no support for Vista; Microsoft support ended.

You say that you do not have SP1 installed, then of course we give you instructions on how to install it.

And when you post here complain about anything doesn't work for you, publish a list of the things you have already tried.

It is not installed if it does not appear under properties

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed (apparently without SP).

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

  • Computer can't find internet connections in Windows 7.

After the recent installation of Microsoft 7, I am unable to connect to my wireless network. I have other devices connected to the network, so I know this isn't the problem. I spent my Internet Properties window and my Connections tab selected. When I go to network settings and check the box 'Automatically detect settings' and click 'OK', nothing happens.

Properties Internet > connection is only used to configure outbound connection options and would be where remote access is configured, rarely used today and should be set to automatic by default. He treats Wi-wired connections, and as an only option.

You have installed Windows 7 you have installed the drivers for the WiFi cards? This would be necessary before setting then WiFi authentication.

  • Computer doesn't recognize burner double layer Asus.

    Original title: Installation disks.

I installed a burner double layer of Asus which worked fine and was given the drive letter g. My second drive was defective, so I bought a different burner Asus from the same company. I asked the seller if there is a conflict because the two discs were the same. He said no, because the computer would assign a different drive letter to the new drive. When I turned on the computer after the installation it recognized the new hardware and it gave the letter s. When I went to burn data, I noticed that the g drive was gone and the software did not recognize this drive. I restarted the computer and found that the two drives disappeared and I can't access either. Can anyone help please.

These DVD players would be IDE?  IDE disks need to have the jumpers set to Master or Slave, when connecting TWO drives on the same IDE cable these discs were both probably "sold" with the cavaliers IDE setting 'default' value and they are both the same.  IDE see then the player and the possbily ignore the other «first»

  • Taskbar Windows 8 says network not identified but computer identifies TI-no internet connection

My taskbar to the laptop says "Unidentified network, no internet access", but when I click it, it opens the list of network connections and shows that I am connected to my network wireless home (he identified) and there is no notice of limited access. This seems very contradictory. I had no problems until last night when my roommate connected his Mac via the wireless to access Netflix and press the factory reset button on the wireless router. She got in line without problem, but now I can't. I'm done with my iPhone to connect with the wireless and my laptop off the phone running hotspot. I would like to move directly from the wireless, without going through my iPhone.  I can't access Internet and instead of my computer on my network to laptop, I renamed as a media player and not only as my old computer in my office (it is his link showing?). When I try to go online the page shows not connected to the internet, and I click on troubleshooting. It says restart the router/modem but I did that five times and nothing changes. I restart my laptop too. It's been hours now and I "restored" my laptop to an earlier point. She can get online and the wireless router, the lights are all green as well as do? Am very illiterate when it comes to this computer stuff and most of the answers I've seen online that I have no idea what they are talking about - IE. Change of IP address, system configuration, etc., so be very, very aware and make your answers as if you're talking to a fool. (You're) And if you could give me instructions step by step - as the right or left click here or I would be SO grateful. In desperation right now. Thank you.

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

I would like to ask you:

    • How did the other laptop connected to the router? Is it cable connection or wireless?

If the other laptop is connected with a cable, so that the issue could be with the settings of the router. Therefore, you should contact the Internet service provider in this case that the router has been reset. If the wireless connection on all devices and you are not able to go online using your laptop Windows 8, follow these steps:

    1. Open the start screen, type CMD.
    2. Right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
    3. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command.

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

    ipconfig/flushdns

If the problem persists, visit the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for network / wireless and install.

Hope this information was useful. Let us know the results once you have tried.
