Hello

Buy a CMOS battery. they are only about $5.

  • My Dell Precision 370 computer not start Windows XP, due to A MISSING or CORRUPT FILE.

The file that is missing, is a Windows root folder called > System32\hal.dll

Since this computer Dell was bought for our children used to use, I don't have any Windows XP disk to install the missing file of root or reinstall Windows XP software.

So, how can I get this missing windows xp root file, in order to exploit the windows xp software?

I tried to re - start the dell computer, but nothing works!

If someone could help me, I would appreciate it a lot.

Is is extremely unlikely that the hal.dll file is really missing or damaged.

It is extremely likely that XP can't find it either because the file system is afflicted or XP is told to find the file in the right place.

Please provide additional information on your system:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

We should first check the inetegiry of your file system and then see what then to do.

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • My office is behaving strangely, slow, sometimes does not start Windows.

    * Original title: strange

OK, so I have a desktop with Windows 7 installed above as my users families. My family tends to put viruses or other forms of malware on the desktop as they constantly plugging their friends drive etc. Last week my office just behaved strangely, running slow, sometimes not start Windows and even run checkdisk on each reboot. I have however to discover the reason for all these questions, because it turns out having a Trojan horse installed on the desktop computer that allows a hacker to access my PC remotely. AVG detects whenever I had scanned my office but unfortunately the Trojan horse is just renamed and removed to another place when detected. Last week I did a new install of Windows 7 and everything worked fine until yesterday. I noticed that AVG was not updated yesterday. I first tried to install what AVG but was unable even to reinstall AVG.  I didn't realize that once I have turn off the Windows Firewall I can install and update AVG without a problem. However the firewall Windows has not prevented never AVG update or install in the past. I thought it was a form of malware, the origin of this problem, but after the start of the HBCD and scan with malwarebytes and also to scan using Kaspersky rescue disk. I have not found a malicious software. Even my windows laptop 8 I have no problems updating and installing AVG, while Windows Firewall is enabled. I really believe that it's some form of malware with managed to bypass all virus scans. Please give me some advice and let me know what is the problem and the solution. Thanks in advance

It has been long since I had no faith on average. :-)

Use the removal of AVG on this link tool to completely remove AVG, following the installation of Microsoft Security Essentials here ...

In addition, pull it out of Windows 8 and leave Windows Defender to take over. You will have less problems you get with AVG. There is no need to install MSE in Windows 8, as it's already there...

  • Satellite L300D-11 a - do not start Windows vista

    Hello

When I turn on my computer, I get the following error message:

    Error recovery for Windows

Windows cannot start up. A change of equipment or software that has been recently achieved may be the cause.

If the windows files are damaged or misconfigured, you can start the repair tool to help you diagnose and fix the problem. If the power was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally.

Start the (recommended) Startup Repair tool
    Start windows normally.
After a while windows automatically selects the first option and try to load windows in recovery mode, but then, I get the following error:

"The installed software could not start. Click ok to shut down the computer.

When it stops and I start the computer again, I get the same error message when I started with the 2 options of recovery mode or start windows normally.
When I select 2. option (start windows normally), it loads windows and after some time restarts and then I get the same error with two options.

I tried to boot from the CD (recovery disk, vista bootable cd) and computer attempts a while but then he gave up and start again starting from the HARD disk. (I changed to boot from the CD first in the BIOS).

Anyone know how to fix this?

I have laptop Toshiba model nr: L300D-11

    Hello

If I understand your message, you tried to boot from recovery and MS Vista CD disc and no recovery disk worked not the Vista CD.

    Is this good?

Hmm that's very strange... Perhaps you could remove the laptop HARD drive and could put it into a USB external HDD enclosure.
Then you could format the HARD drive using another computer.
After that, you could try to reinstall new OS

Please also enter the BIOS and set it to the default settings the compatible SATA mode value and try to boot from the Vista CD again

    Good luck

  • Satellite L500 will not start - Windows issue?

My nephew is the owner of this laptop 1 year old and asked me for help yesterday.
There's an eggtimer permanent on the mouse cursor and clicking on trackpad or any key does nothing.

I ctrl, alt, del to open, and then select the Task Manager, but then the thing freezes. place then the only solution.
I could not access my computer or start / programs, etc. by clicking on anything does nothing.

I started in safe mode with network and updated & ran several programs - super antispyware, spybot, ccleaner & anti malwarebytes. the latter find stuff but unimportant or whatever it is was reported by none.

It has none of the recovery disks because none was provided. He never made the recovery discs as advised when it is new, so I tried to make a series of discs, but it was impossible to read some files and I had to abort the operation.
I have downloaded and run mechanic system but this found no real problems.

When I try to open my computer, the answer is a long time to come and opens a page of help windows in m/s only. He advises the system restore but there ar no restore points available.

When I tried to launch avg he behaved "very odd" to say the least. I uninstalled that too.

I uninstalled several toolbars and games stuff that my nephew had but for all my efforts, above the situation remains the same. I'm trying to do a windows repair disk and will try that to see if it helps.

I put the disc and restarted with poor results. He asked me to reinstall windows, and I agreed. I then, a long time later had a message saying that the computer has an error unexpectedly., restart to complete the installation.
When I click ok to restart, the message is repeated. I retried several times - same result.

I tried turning on off and powered by pressing f1 through f12 in turn. no difference.
I think I need a new disk (64) of windows 7 or a recovery dvd set of toshiba.

Any thoughts on recovering from a bad situation would be welcome.

    > I think I need a new disk (64) of windows 7 or a recovery dvd set of toshiba.
    > Any thoughts on recovering from a bad situation would be welcome.

Yes, I agree with you at this stage that I would also try to reinstall a new Windows system or Toshiba Recovery disk image
Usually the new OS install helps determine what s wrong here, from my point of view, it looks like the BONE was confusing to and installation of the operating system might solve this problem.

But as you know, it's just a theory. I think that if would not help you with new installation OS (recovery), the next should be a RAM and HARD drive test

    What do you think?

  • Our Toshiba Inspiron will not start windows, even in safe mode. Help, please!

After the updates of this week, the system will not load anything.

    Hi Juliet,

Thanks for asking the question in the Microsoft Community forum.

From your description, I understand that after Windows Update, you can not load Windows.

To better understand the question, please answer the following questions:

    1. What is the version of the Windows operating system that is installed on your computer?

    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/help/which-version-of-the-windows-operating-system-am-i-running

    2. what happens when you try to load the system? You receive an error message?

    3. what application or anti-virus security suite is installed on your computer?

    4. you remember after installation of update, you are facing this problem?

Remove any external device connected to the computer without keyboard and mouse and then perform the methods.

If you are using Windows 7 and Windows Vista, follow the mentioned methods:

    Method 1:

If the computer does not start in safe mode, perform the last known good Configuration.

    Reference: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/using-last-known-good-configuration

Note: Link above also applies to Windows Vista.

Question remains always use same method 2.

    Method 2:

Try to perform the Startup Repair and check.

    For slightly more:

    BCCode: 7B 0x0000007B

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bug control has a value of 0x0000007B. This bug check indicates that the Microsoft Windows operating system has lost access to the system partition during startup.

Important information if you have received a STOP Code

If you have received a blue screen error, or stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you purchased Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer connect with Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

The following actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    Cause

Bug INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE control often occurs due to a failure of the boot device. During the initialization of the I/O system, the boot device driver could have no initialize the boot device (usually a hard drive). Initialization of file system may have failed because it does not recognize the data on the boot device. In addition, repartition the system partition or installing a new SCSI adapter or disk controller could encourage this error.

This error can also occur because of incompatible disc material. If the error occurred in the initial configuration of the system, the system have maybe installed on an unsupported drive or a SCSI controller. Some controllers are supported only by the drivers that are in the library of drivers Windows (WDL). (These drivers require the user to perform a custom installation.)

    Resolution

This error always occurs during the startup of the system. This error often occurs before the debugger connection, kind of debugging can be difficult, if not impossible.

Fix a defective boot device: If a boot device is at fault, you must change the boot options. For more information changing these options, see Software Configuration on the target computer.

Solve a problem of incompatible hard disk: If the installation program automatically detects the controller, you may have to skip the detection and the disc of the specific manufacturer allows to load the driver. Also, check the availability of updates for the firmware of the system BIOS and SCSI controller. Updates of this kind are usually available on the website or BBS of the hardware manufacturer.

Delete all material recently added, especially of hard disks or controllers, to see if the error is resolved. If the problematic material is a hard drive, the firmware version of the drive may be incompatible with your version of the Windows operating system. Contact the manufacturer for updates. If you have removed another material element and the error is resolved, conflicts of port IRQ or i/o likely exist. Reconfigure the new device according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Confirm that the hard disk drivers, hard disk controllers and SCSI adapters are listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.

If you have recently added a driver, restart your computer, and then press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the menu of Advanced Options , select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when you add a single driver or service at a time.

In addition, check your computer for viruses using any update, commercial software that examines the Master Boot Record of the disk hard antivirus. All systems of Windows files can be infected by viruses.

This error can also occur due to corruption of the hard drive. Run Chkdsk /f /r on the system partition. You must restart the computer before the start of the analysis of disk. If you cannot start the computer due to the error, use the Recovery Console and run Chkdsk/r.

If you cannot start the system in the last known good configuration, you should try to boot from the Windows CD. Then, you can run Chkdsk from the Repair Console.

Warning   If your system partition is formatted with the FAT file system the long file names that use the Windows operating system could be damaged if you use Scandisk or another MS-DOS-based disk tool to verify the integrity of your hard disk from MS-DOS. Always use the version of Chkdsk that matches your version of Windows.

If your system has SCSI adapters, contact the card manufacturer for updated Windows drivers. Try to disable sync negotiation in the SCSI BIOS, check the wiring and the SCSI ID of each device and confirming the proper termination. For IDE devices, define the IDE port integrated as primary only. Also check each IDE device for setting good master/subordinate/stand alone . Try to remove all IDE devices except for the hard drives. Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver that generated the error.

  • Satellite P300-28th does not start - windows does not load

I bought Toshiba P300 28th last week. I spent Vista business successfully in Windows XP Professional with provided Toshiba DVD. Update Windows with Windows Update. After 3 days, laptop turns off suddenly, and because Windows does not start, it in fact does not start.

When I press the power button / stop, it turns on, shows "Toshiba Leading Innovation" logo image option and "2", "press 12...", and it hangs and stops.
I tried pressing F2 and F12, nothing happened.

I can not access the boot menu.

I put the Toshiba Recovery CD, the hard drive does not work. Recovery disk does not start, despite earlier I remember put boot CD/DVD at the forefront in the Boot Options to Boot Menu.

I checked everything, power cable, took the battery in and replace after 3 hours, tried to turn on the portable power, without battery cable. Did not help.

    Don't know what to do?

    Your help is very appreciated.

    Hello Fiona

If you are unable to enter the BIOS (F2) at startup settings there must be some serious hardware problem.
I recommend to contact your local dealer where you bought this laptop and ask for help, or you can contact Toshiba service provider directly.

What you have tried to do is good but if laptop doesn t allow you to enter parameters of the BIOS something wrong here, and you need professional help.

  • Satellite A100-232 does not start windows, but is stuck

    Hello

I am having a serious problem with my old laptop (Toshiba Satellite A100).
When I turn on the pc, it does not start the Windows but is stuck.
If I press F2 to open the Bios, it seems not work while the works of F12 (select boot device), but it is impossible to start anything.

    I tried the following:

1 removed, cleaned and replaced the RAM
    2. HARD drive removed and reconnected.
    3. check the HARD drive if it is damaged, but it is not.
4A tried to boot from the Windows XP cd and install it but it crashes
5A tried to boot from the cd with Linux, but it does not work.
    6. has created a Windows 98 flash drive to start, but it does not work.
7 tried to clear CMOS by removing the battery, but I couldn't because he is stuck on MB.

I visited a technisian but he couldn't fix it.
He told me that the BIOS is corrupted or crashed. Maybe I should replace somehow.

    Is this possible?
    How?

    Thank you

It is for the Satellite A105 (PSAA2U) Bios Update, you can test the file at your own risk.

A text readme file is located in the folder, follow the instructions.
Download the Bios file from the link and copy it to a USB key, go into you Bios and this flash file.
