connect the scanner HP scanjet 4200C

Computer Inspiron laptop Windows 8 will not recognize the HP Scanjet 4200 C. How to solve this? The CD for the scanner software was used when I had Windows 98 2nd edition. Would not work. Plugged into the USB 2 port. Current past, green light showing on scanner. Please advise?

Your CD will not work in Windows8. Try to go to: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html . Enter the full name of your printer and download and install the necessary drivers/software for windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.

  • Scanner HP Scanjet 4200C: cannot upgrade Windows XP to Vista

After the migration from Windows XP to Windows Vista I can no longer operate my scanner HP Scanjet 4200 C. I installed the original series of scanner HP 4200C software and plugged the scanner via the USB interface. The software starts up, but cannot find the scanner. After reviewing the HP web page I discovered that HP does not provide an upgrade to Vista; the last update they provide is for XP and not Vista-compatible. Everyone had the same problem and found a solution?

HP has written drivers for their products, not Microsoft.

If HP has said that there are no Vista drivers for your printer model, it has none.

  • Connect the scanner via TimeCapsule

I have a Canon LiDE 120 Cancan scanner.  I want to connect to my local network using port USB TimeMachine.  My laser printer works this way, but the utility OS 'Printers and Scanners' preferences won't find the scanner.

Is it possible a scanner by the TC/airport network for all my computers can "see"?  If so would appreciate any advice on the installation program.

Note: even if directly connected to a computer the button 'share (printer) on the network' disappears when a scanner is selected.

    Thank you

Not with a USB scanner. The time Capsule does not support that.

I am trying to add my scanjet N6350 to our corporate network, I have assigned to the internal Ip address bad ETC. and can travel to the scanner internally.

However, once the installation of the HP software to connect the scanner to my machine, cannot find the scanner on the network.

    Thank - you

    Well, it turns out that:

Even if it wasn't the error is displayed when you try to connect the scanner, it turns out to be the solution to the problem and I am now able to Scan over the network.

Before installing the Scanner, follow these steps on the local computer.

    1. Please click Start and select Control Panel.

    2. Click on system and select the Hardware tab.

    3. Click the driver signing, you will be directed to the driver signing options window.

After these changes, if necessary, reboot the computer so that the changes will take effect, and then try to re - install the scanner software.

  • ScanJet G4050: Desktop unable to see the drivers for Scanjet G4050

I have a ScanJet G4050 that I can't make it work with my desktop computer (HP ENVY 700 - 210xt CTO desktop PC). The Office seems to think that there are no drivers for the device.

I've recently updated for Windows 10 of 8.1. I had not connected the scanner before update (yes I know) so I honestly do not know if she would have connected before.

I ran software installation from the disc, and then downloaded and installed software linked from the info Windows 10 on HP website.  Nada.

My Device Manager Office lists the HP scanner which I assume is due to the installation of the software detects not the scanner because I told

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no compatible driver for this device.

Watching the news on the events tab for the device, it is said

    USB\VID_03F0 & PID_4605\CN48JCB18105 device has been migrated.

    Device's last Instance Id: USB\VID_03F0 & PID_4605\CN48JCB18105
    The class GUID: {6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
    Path:
    Migration status: 0x0
    Present: false

I guess ' present: false "means that the device is not seen by Device Manager.

Just in an act of desperation, I switched the USB cable in case it was bad, nada.

OK, I'm completely and totally frustrated... and ideas.  If someone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.  Pay $99 for technical support of time on a $180 scanner is not really profitable.

    @ErinContour

OK, well - the information on the pages of the Web site support has been around since at least 2006 - so if the scanner is not believed, it seems at least some support information has been around for some time.

    I don't have the answer...

    ErinContour wrote:

This scanner is aged a year... so little vintage. I mentioned, I installed the scanner, I installed the complete software off the drive before you download and update the software using the Windows 10 link on the HP site. I have the guide to the user, which in the circumstances is singularly useless.

Still not clear. I guess I misunderstood - do not remove the existing printer software before installing the replacement defined on HP website.  Assuming you have done this, then 'all good '.

Maybe it's nothing other than Windows 10 no no not necessary routines in place to support the scanner software.

User guides vary - most recently, I think the documentation has improved substantually.  Unfortunately, in my opinion, a lot of the old guides (this one circa 2006) are not as including the type of information desired by many users / owners of the devices.  NOTE: This is a personal opinion only; I speak NOT of HP.

There is a tool that you can try:

HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows

No idea if the doctor will know what is happening.  Although imperfect, it is a good program...

If the scanner is connected physically and that the computer is aware of this connection and know the type of material, then you might be able to use a software program of scanning solution.

  • Windows 8 does not recognize the scanner

I have two printers on network, a brother MFC9840CDW and a HP Photosmart Premium C410.  Both are multifunction devices and both are recognized by Windows 8 as Printers , but not the scanner. I uninstalled the drivers for the HP and reinstalled the but the scanner is still not recognized.  I can't reinstall the Brother drivers because the brother website says it uses the native player of Windows 8 and therefore does not download.  I have tried both Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat Pro to address scanners and neither of then is recognized by both programs.  Using Windows 7 machines on the same network, however, both are recognized as scanners, so clearly, it's a matter of Windows 8.  In addition, HP and brother have Windows 8 'apps', HP Scan and Capture and Brother Print and Scan, respectively.  The fact HP application recognize the scanner HP; application of brother do not recognize the scanner Brother.  I'm confused and need help!

Don't forget to directly connect the scanner to the computer of victory 8 to test scan. Scanner-printers on network that are connected to another computer on the network can share the printer but not sharing the scanner. Scanners should be connected directly and use the software on a computer to scan. The exception is a network Wireless scanner-printer connected to the network router.

Your printer HP scanner will scan with windows 8 if it is attached to the computer in windows 8, since the drivers are available HERE Connect that one to the computer that you use most for scanning and sharing the printer with other computers. And the Brother machine is also compatible with the drivers from This SITE , it is also presented as a printer scanner wireless network that you can connect to your router and share it on the network. Get directions to connect to the router of brother.
  • I was using WIA in Photoshop Elements because of problems with my scanner HP ScanJet sudden 4200C window. With the help of my scanner HP through WIA worked very well. Now I have problems analysis with either WIA or the window of the HP scanner.

When I finally tried to solve the initial problem scanner HP in resettlement of the disk to scan, I kept getting the message that it was not compatible with Windows 95 or 98. But I have Windows XP.  So I finally downloaded and installed scanner drivers, software and upgrades on HP website. Well, the works of scanner, but now there are new problems.  1 - once the hp scanner window is displayed by clicking on import through Scanner HP, most of the menu at the top of the window items is not available. For example, I go to settings and all that is now available is to scan in color. There are 5 other options I should be able to click on, for example, resolution.  And I need that.  I thought, no problem, I'll just use WIA as before, as well as the WIA window came much faster than the HP one.  Problem 2 - in elements, I can go to WIA, but it says "NO compatible WIA devices have been detected."  That's happened?  I tried to go into Panel, scanners and cameras, add a device... but he could not find the scanner and of course, he cannot read the HP disc because of the inconsistent message of windows 95-98 (on my Windows XP computer!).  Can - I just uninstall my scanner and if I make the WIA will be able to find it after that?  I do not understand how I could use WIA and now I can't.  I know it has something to do with that I downloaded and installed at HP, but what?  I hope someone can help.  I have a huge project that I'm trying.

Thank you for your message.  It seems that when you have downloaded and installed the driver from the HP website, you cannot have downloaded and installed the updates as well.  Click HERE to open the HP website and download the appropriate files.  Below, I will give an overview of what you need to download and install in order.

  • ScanJet G3110 - 'unable to communicate with the scanner' error message

This Scanjet has worked well over the years.

I don't remember making any changes, but now when I click on any option (for example copy or scan to email... all options) I get the error «unable to communicate with scanner» HP

When I click on "Preferences of the Scanner", the Apple preferences page with a popup that reads:

To use the "HP Scanjet", preferences preferences pane system must leave and reopen it.

I click OK and system preferences change to 'Preferences system (32-bit)'

I click on the HP icon and it opens to "no value / not connected".

I have reset the scanner; have you checked all connections... no change.

    I put on computer.

The scanner scans noise when it starts up.

But when I press the "scan" button (or any button) on the scanner itself, nothing happens.

    Using OS X 10.6.7

    Any ideas?

  • Photosmart HP 7520: scan hp connects to the scanner

I have a new MacBook Pro that came with installed Yosemite.  I think that HP Scan frequently does not connect to my scanner HP Photosmart 7529 using my wifi.  I get an error indicating that the scanner... is currently unavailable.  I called the service of HP and their only solution was to do the following in order: 1. turn off the router, 2 disable the 7520, 3 put the router 4 switch 7520.  Now, it works but it happens regularly and frankly is quite a pain and I'm sure is not how it is supposed to work.

The scanner worked well with my previous MacBook Pro (OSX Lion).  The scanner also works through preferences, but that method has very limited functionality.  How can I get this problem?

  • HP officejet Pro 8600 cannot connect to the scanner

HP Office jetPro 8600 NG11a, Windows 7 OS, connected to the network via an ethernet connection

I've only had the printer for a few months. Initially, had problems with the network connection that has been resolved by manually inserting the IP address outside the DHCP range.

I now keep getting a scanner mesagesaying is not available. I try and turn it back on, but it does not work

I have run the analysis doctor and followed the instructions but it is unable to solve the problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and who does not.

Here is mention of the IP address, but as I had all the problems before I am reluctant to interfere with the IP that the printer itself is OK.

Nothing has been changed on my system, I have not actually used the scanner to date but notice all of a sudden the error message on my toolbar and then found that the scanner will not work.

I would be grateful for any help.

    Much thanks 2DX

    2DX

    Thanks for responding.

I worked my way through all the suggestions and nothing worked.

For the moment everything is OK, I've installed a new driver of network and turn on the printer before starting the computer well.

I cross my fingers, but it is very worrying that I had all these problems of network with a new printer.
