Connect to the console of vCenter device using the roots

It is possible to connect to the console of the vCenter (5.5) device uses root?  And I don't mean via SSH; I mean in vCenter open the 'Virtual keyboard' unit vCenter VM and then login?  When I type in the root, it asks me not even a password - it just says: invalid connection.  Curiously, if I type in administrator would it ask for a password but I don't know what is this password (I was just with administrator to test to see if other accounts acted the same way).

Thank you

NK

Too funny - I had to reboot the device last night in a different purpose and when I tried to login this morning to get the screenshots, it worked.   Chalked it up to gremlims/Ghost in the machine.

Thank you

NK

In the locked mode, you will only be able to connect through vCenter, not via SSH.

  • Error when you try to connect to the root of the three armies...

    Good afternoon

I installed and authorized the latest version of the Plugin of Dell OpenManage integration with VMware vCenter v3.1.  I have a license of 10 host.  I have two sites, managed by two different vCenter servers.  I'm under ESXi 5.5 updated 3B and the latest version of the software, vCenter.

On the first site, I will have no problem connecting to the iDRAC and hosts.  On the second site, I can connect to the iDRAC, but guests return with a response that says, 'Fail - unable to reach the host. Check credentials of the host, network connectivity or an agent of the OMSA (as appropriate). »

I checked that the credentials are correct.  I have no problem of connectivity to the hosts, so I am at a loss here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

This error was caused by the fact that all the servers Dell before the 12th generation (12 G) require the OMSA (OpenManage Server Assistant) VIB installed in VMware, before you can manage the server.  Generation of 12 and later built.  The Dell documentation on it is hard to find and did not come with the OpenManage for VMware integration Plugin.

I found a link super site of a user on how to install the VIB.

  • root vCenter device connection refused

    Hello

facing a problem for the last 4 months.

I am unable to connect to the root device vcenter account.

via ssh or local console. raise them an access denied error.

I tried to see if the password has expired by this article: http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/09/how-to-recover-vcsa-55-from-expired.html

    It was not the case.

while I was there, I decided to try this: http://www.virtualpotholes.com/post/124746380849/how-to-reset-the-root-password-for-vcsa-60

has confirmed that several articles said the same thing: http://www.settlersoman.com/how-to-reset-root-password-on-vcenter-appliance-vcsa-6-x/

saved the file of the shadow, disassembled the drive and rebooted.

I am still unable to connect local shell or ssh.

    I'm puzzled.

I found some details on the reason that what was going on.

When I tried to connect ssh I would just get access denied. even when you connect through the console.

When I tried to change the console session (ALT - F1) and logging in there I got an eloquent message.

account locked due to 1342 connection failures

    as I said, it's been 4 months.

any reset procedure I tried worked. However, the account was always BLOCKED.

According to the documents of the shadow, it was not. but according to the addin to pam tally2 it was!

following this article (http://www.sneaku.com/2015/06/12/vrealize-operations-manager-6-0-root-account-locked/) and general linux distro forums skimming validated these results.

I could use to unlock the account.

  • vCenter on Windows Server 2008 cannot open VM´s. unable to connect to the MKS console: Timeout during an attempt to read

I have setup a new vCenter to replace the old (new on MS server 2008, an old man on MS server 2003), but after registering the VM´s, I am not able to connect to them with the console. Error message: unable to connect to the MKS: Timeout during an attempt to read

If I connect directly to the host ESX 4 it works fine.

Is that what someone has any ideas, how to solve this problem? I have already tried:

-Added the new vCenter address and IP to the/etc/hosts

    -restart the ESX servers

-Re-installed VMware tools to the new vCenter

None of the above has helped, and I start to desperate... Anyone have an idea?

If you use vcenter to manage your servers from another computer. You should try to disable the windows firewall on the vcenter computer that manages the esx server. He worked for another problem in the past. Windows firewall started blocking applications of mks someday and we don't know why. Allowing exceptions in windows firewall did not work if the firewall has been turned off completely and then it worked.

My pro iPad connects to the WIFI, but loses connectivity to drops in use.  My other IOS devices (iPhone, macbook, etc.) do not have this problem.  Ideas to solve?

    Hello BrooklynWM!

I definitely want my iPad to stay connected to the Wi - Fi connection while I use it.  Thanks for posting that other iOS and OS X devices have no problem with the connectivity dropping.  We can try a few things.

Would first go through the steps listed in this article: If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connects to a Wi-Fi - Apple Support Network

Then if it does not help, you can check network settings with this: recommended for the WiFi routers and access - points Apple supported

After trying those, if you still see the drop connectivity, make sure the iPad Pro is updated with iOS 9.3.2 and check to see if the connection when you are in a certain place, time, or one event happening elsewhere in the House.

    Best regards.

My verse ATT modem ({use of devices not apple wifi of this modem} is connected to the ATT line, Time Capsule (iPhones, Macs use the wifi of the time Capsule) and connect to the Uverse modem via ethernet.)

Both devices are set to the highest security and each uses separate passwords.

Non apple devices can collect data from iPhones or Mac using the time Capsule?

With a bit of work by someone who knows how to do such things, not Apple computers could read some files on the Mac if file sharing is configured on the network... devices non-Apple and... He knew the device passwords or administrator for Macs.

Mac could also play the files on other Macs if file sharing has been implemented and the device password or admin was known.

If you ask if a PC can read the files on the Time Capsule, the answer is Yes, without doubt, assuming that the PC knew the password of device for the time Capsule.

    Hello

I have trouble finding my drives NAS via Wifi.

Since I moved my NAS drives to the location of my second router and connect the first router to the internet and all my mobile devices and laptops, I have problems connecting to my NAS readers. Sometimes it works, but more often, it's not.

Can I change the configuration, so that my second router is connected to the NAS drives and also works as my router for mobile devices and laptops? Then the first router just to connect to the internet and transfer it via the bridge on the second router.

I tried this, but it doesn't seem to work...

  • m276n: print from a mobile device using a wired connection on the printer

    Hello

I am considering buying the printer m276n for use in the home. I have a small Home Office on the top floor of my house which is out of range of my wifi signal but has a wired connection to the same router that broadcasts the wifi signal. I want to put the printer and connect it via a wired connection to the network. I know that it works perfectly for all windows home computers that are attached to the same network (wired and wireless), as long as I give you a fixed IP address to the printer.

But since we use mobile devices more and more (apple and android) it will be a nice to have to print those as well. I watched Eprint Airprint movies, but all tell me that the printer must be connected wireless. Is it a necessity or my proposed wired installation will work just as well?

    Hi @MartijnS ,

I see by your post that you would like to know if you can use the ePrint Airprint functionality with the printer and when it is configured on the network via an Ethernet connection. I can certainly help you.

The ePrint and Airprint feature work when a printer is connected to a network. It can be wired or wireless to the router.

Here is the document with a little information for print from an Apple Mobile Device.

The documentation shows also wireless, but again, it works through a wired too.

    I hope this helps.

    Have a great day!
    Thank you.

According to me, there's no difference between vCenter through windows & device licenses.

You will get vCenter license (as a whole) and now its your choice to deploy vCenter either on windows or deploy the same form of appliance. Once deployed, you must apply the license.

If you opt for the vCenter Foundation, you will get the same set of features you deploy the VC under windows or as an appliance. It is the same for the standard vCenter license. If you deploy on windows, you need windows license as well.
