Inoperative modem USB D-Link Model: DWM - 156. I've used it before, but now only my PC not read it!

    So I'm having a problem installing software called mobilink for my novatel usb wireless modem, actually it's not mine to someone else.  When installing the software directly from the usb port it will stop and say Error 1720.  He had the same problem with a modem former usb from the same manufacturer, but I managed to download the software directly from the manufacturer's website and installed without problem.  With the recent usb model, they do not offer the software online.  The Windows Installer is updated and saved, is this a problem with windows vista or any associated windows? It seems to happen during the installation of the usb modem.

    My wife recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite U500, that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit.

    A few days later, I bought a modem high-speed HSDPA USB by Alcatel. The problem started immediately that we plugged the modem, that drivers would not install.
    Then I went to the Web of Alcatel site and found the drivers for windows 7 for her. But then we hit another road block since now the drivers are installed and it does not detect the modem, but whenever we try to connect to the internet, screen flickers at the connection for a moment and then disconnects again.

    I found cela a lil strange so I tried to connect using my own pc which has a 32-bit Windows 7 and it works fine there.
    It is the same for a machine that still had Windows XP. Makes me think its something to do with 64-bit Windows 7 itself. Could someone help please?

    I don't think that someone here can help you with this problem. You will be very happy if someone on this forum has exactly the same model of laptop including same USB modem.

    In my opinion, you have two options: either you can clarify this point with the support of Alcatel (they have enough experience with own products) or with people from the nearest Toshiba service provider service.

    Have you tried to test the features with the Win7 32-bit version?

    We use windows 7 (64-bit) on a laptop HP dv7 (Core i7 processor) and have installed a USB modem for use with a wireless provider... Clear (.com) software for the modem works as usual, but is unable to detect the modem when it is connected to the computer.  When you look at the device manager must notice given: "this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12)"This shows for the modem under network adapters.  We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling software/firmware of the modem, with nothing will do.  We have researched and found that this error can be filled due to the same ports of e/s or even for devices Direct memory access channel.  This would be a simple resource allocation problem caused by the BIOS?  How can we solve this problem, any suggestions?

    I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

    1. try a different USB port on the computer if possible.

    2. restart your computer and try again.

    Also remove any unnecessary USB devices and try to use the USB modem. And do a test if you experience different results with the laptop plugged in from the battery power.

    The best place to go would be website from your ISP because they should include that he adapted Windows 7 drivers.  Make sure you get the x 64 drivers if your Windows 7 is 64-bit.  Make sure you get the x 86 drivers if your Windows 7 is 32-bit.

    Your ISP is a better choice than ZTE itself-, I used to have one of their modems & never had luck in trying to get anything directly from them.
