Defective print heads reported

Hello

My Officejet 8000 A809 has print runs streaky - the black cartridge seems to be the problem.

I ran the print head cleaning utility and it showed the black print printhead correctly but when I tried to print a document it printer reported that cyan/magenta printhead were defective and had to be replaced. I had a paper jam while the unit was running - if this means something :-)

These print heads are genuine HP and less than two weeks old. However I have heard and replaced two of them (with genuine HP products), but the printer continues to report that the print heads are defective.

What is the problem here? Any ideas?

TIA... Brett

Forget it, silly me!

I was confused with the cartridges printheads.

Sorry :-)

My B9180 gave me the msg "replace the defective print head" after a period of inactivity.  I'm using Snow Leopard on a Mac Pro 10.6.8.  The printer went through several periods of non-use, since I bought it used, but almost nine.  Usually, I experience white lines in my impressions after using the printer, I've always been able to fix by cleaning of the nozzles and/or the print heads, either automatically, or manually.  The last round resulted in the warning "defective printhead" even after repeated manual cleaning.  In fact, the process to put off the printer and back, with and without unplugging it, led to 'replace' warnings for ALL the printheads several times, only 2 print heads a couple of times a moment seems to be giving me just the consistantly 'replace magenta/yellow print head.  The strip of plastic that surrounds the ink nozzles is loose to the point of current on the PH.  My printer is no longer under warranty, but before I spend money on phone support and new print heads, I want to look at other possibilities.  The book says that if the manual cleaning of the printheads does not, HP support should be contacted, suggesting that there could be other possible remedies, before you buy new print heads.   I wouldn't begin to buy new print heads to find that again, they will not work because of some other problem.  I am also concerned by the other warnings of print head, even if they did not intervene now.

Also, opening lid for cleaning of the PH, I noticed a lot of ink accumulate in 4 coarse foam pads, each in its own little tray located inside the printer on the right side.  some of them were overflowing. / I carefully daubbed a part of the ink with q-tips, but I wonder if this condition could be or cause problems.

    Ideas?

Finally got tired of waiting on HP.  Expected response Bob during the 'days of Forum' or whatever they called.  My problems with their goods should not have affected them too!

FYI, I ordered a new printhead magenta/yellow, installed and still had "replace print head faulty warning."  Has released the new printhead, cleaned of some sort of clear, gelatinous * beep * of gold contacts with a q - Tip and reinstalled.  Surprisingly, printer started working.  (Took a lot of time to do her routine 'thump, bump & hum'.)  Don't know how long it will last.

My next printer will be a Canon or an Epson!

  • Printing with an empty cartridge because of the defective print head

I had a problem with my printer saying that my yellow cartridge is very low, even if I just install it. I spoke with HP yesterday and they told me it was probably a defective print head, and they would have me shipping another. They assured me that even if it showed that my yellow ink was low, it was not really. In the meantime, I'm trying to print something this morning, and I get a message that the cartridge is empty and I have to cancel printing.

Is it possible that I can get the printer to operate even with him saying that yellow is empty (even if it isn't)?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system?

  • DesignJet 1050c more: 1050c failure print head

    Hi guys,.

So I have a 1050c that I had recently worked, there done upon arrival have air in the black line. I replaced the nozzle which leaked onto the station transport and removed all the air from the line. It worked perfectly for the last two days. Ive kept a close eye on the tube system to ensure no air flow. Last night when I tried to print, it came with printhead failure on black background.

Now its almost certain air went up in the head after the first print test I did with the printer, I think it was the test of the palette. That's what prompted me to check the tubes in the first case.

After I got the error last night I tripled checked the lines for all the bubbles that their absence. I also pulled the head and checked the nozzle and there certainly no air either, when I put the printhead in the unit, says its fine all it prints perfectly 3 or 4 passes and then triggers the error. If I reinstall it, it still print 4 or so passes and then triggers the error.

Is there a chance the other than the head thing, I just want to avoid the replacement of the head to find her something else cause. I'll try and rinse the head with ink to make sure there is no air inside, could give the old head a new lease on life, but I have another head on command in any case.

99% of the time it's a defective print head.  If the print head has got to air inside the first time you used it, then he should be replaced because there is no way to remove the air unless you can fashion a form of suction device that attaches to the side of nozzle and do enter the PIN that normally goes into the nozzle on the transport of ink.  A few years ago, I saw a device that somebody foreign did but have never seen one that was produced for the market.

  • print head

Received today again a Officejet Pro 8610.  Implement wireless according to instructions; Add Printer on my Mac; installed new cartridges.

When I try to print, I get the message 'head print seems to be missing, not detected, or incrorrectly installed ".

I got online instructions for reseating the printhead (with power cord unplugged) - repeated 4 times slowly, but still get the same message.  Tried power off and reboot.

I don't know what to do next.   (What is perhaps a defective print head)?

  • HP 940 print head: evidence of a wrong print head

Hello world. I want to find a way to get the evidence from HP to show that they are false, in order to get the refund.

Return is not an option. It is illegal to carry counterfeit products. I don't want to violate the law for only a few dollars.

Report to HP here doesn't help either. Several days ago, but nobody responds again.

I bought HP print heads two 940 claimed to be new and before the date of expiry of eBay, and I suspect that they are false.

One of them have expiration date actual (seen in the self-diagnosis page) showed much earlier than the date claimed on the label print head.

One of them is just dead.

The outer box have no product of origin and also the expiry date or the anti-counterfeiting label.

How can I get proof of HP that those are fakes? Thank you.

Are the numbers engraved laser on the print heads, serial number?

OK, I found a unopened 940 Printhead and you have reason - the format is different from that of the cartridge style, that I used to work with, when the date is marked on the laser cartridge.

I will ask to have this degenerate case.  It will help if you can scan or take pictures of the front and the back of the packaging and the label on the cartridge and laser marked serial number and code 3d.  A HP representative contact you and ask for information through private messaging.  (See the envelope at the top right of the page of the PM).  Do not post any information in the free gallery here, including contact information.  Make sure that the person you send this information in private messaging has a "HP" next to their name. I expect to take a few days for climbing to make its way through the system.

  • OfficeJet pro 8500: print heads and things

OK, maybe it's a bit confusing. I have three printers Officejet 8500. No. 1 went into a never-ending cycle of clean print heads (after more than 30,000 pages) and without me being in the room the right side of the printer depot of ink on the table. Tried the reset but not good. Bought a second hand and after a few weeks, it came in paper jam mode. Could not resolve so finally bought number three. Works a treat and has no problem. Numbers one and two are for recycling. Print heads removed and stored in an airtight box with damp cloth. What is staging. Now after spending all that money, the last thing I want, it's having problems with number three. However, I have three cartridge sets new and unopened from PC World (their own brand) which cost £39. They came with the number two of the machine. They are not dated and has no way to know at what age they are. They are not oem, I can't any advice on their likely performance, but what worries me, is can the ink begins to solidify and block print heads as they age? Like I said they are still sealed. If I change the cartridge and use a spare set of the print heads to check the print output and that something is wrong if I can swap cartridges and print heads back without the printer enter the cycle of constant head cleaning. I know there have been issues with these printers but mine is on 27 000 pages and all tests are reports back in good health. I have also several chips of HP cartridges genuine that I can use.  Sorry as that a little long-winded.

    Hello @notahappybunny,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand that you have some questions and concerns about your ink cartridges non OEM 8500 and some.

    I would like to help.

The following document explains on the expiry of the ink.

Consumable inkjet HP - ink Expiration

From what I've read, it's I think I understand that the ink may change over time.

Because ink is sealed I don't think they're going to solidify, but the pigment used in the ink may eventually separate from water. This will certainly cause print quality problems.

In addition, your first 8500 printhead might not be good.

A bad print head may cause the impression of entering the cycle without end cleaning.

I hope that I have answered your question.

  • HP officejet pro 8500 a909g: print heads

my printer has stopped printing in black ink, even if the ink level is more than half full.  Ran "clean print head" and he ran forever.  Still not printing or copying in black.  color copy.

    Hey @ahornplayer58,

I would like to help you to solve the problem that you experience when you try to print in black ink of your HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless all-in-One Printer today. Thank you for troubleshooting that you have completed before reaching out for support, including. Right now, it sounds like you have a defective black cartridge or defective printhead. In this model of printer, you have two print heads. There is a printhead magenta and cyan and a black and Yellow Printhead. If a replacement black cartridge fails to resolve your printing delivers a replacement black and Yellow Printhead may be necessary. Saying that, there are still a few troubleshooting steps that we can try before replacing anything. Can I please you follow the steps below.

To start, please click here to access the troubleshooting steps. Once the support document opens please run through the solutionand four Solution. This includes all sub-steps under the two alternatives. A print head cleaning may be run up to three times to resolution. If you make three Printhead clean nothing helps, please do not proceed with any additional cleaning ink is used to clean the print head system, and you will just be wasting ink if you want to go forward.

If the problem persists, the next step listed would be to replace the black and Yellow Printhead. However, it is never a bad idea to first try a black cartridge.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

Can I clean (how?) or do I replace the print heads? If so, replace a print head, or both?

After the old replaced print head, printer replrts the cyan cartridge is low. It's a brand new cyan cartridge. How can I get the printer to consider new?

To answer the first part of your question, you can clean the heads printing either through the front of the printer or do a manual cleaning.  This document here will focus on horizontal lines in printing and show how to correct the issue, clean the print head through the façade and based on the printed report, the print heads to replace.  The other way to clean the printhead contacts is to do a cleaning of the contacts of manual.  Here a link to a document that shows a way to clean the contacts manually.

  • not printed; print head alignment failed

I bought a printer HP 6700 Premium last summer (2012) and made a montage for use by WiFi connection to my laptop Dell Inspiron 1700.  The printer worked fine for 2 months, he was used before packing away until may 2013.

To start using again once I got an error message regarding the Set up ink cartridges.  Assuming that the cartridges were parched of non-use, I have bought/installed HP 933 XL (color) and 933XL (black) ink cartridges.  All indications from the printer indicates that the cartridges are installed correctly, and that all are new/full shells.

The printer continues to not print under the orders of the normal print or with orders queue on the printer for reports such as the 'printer status', 'Print quality', etc.  I also asked 3 times the printer functions "align the print heads", with a message of continuation of the print head alignment failed.  Show based on the "clean printhead" printer (twice) also failed to solve the problem.  When producing a page using above mentioned orders, the paper emerges with images very low (and widely dispersed).

I'm not a person technically the inclined and would be very grateful if anyone could advise on the potential problems noted, and suggestions for the resolution of it.  Thanks in advance for your response (s).

    Hi Plapen,

Can you double check your black ink cartridge.  What is a 932 instead of 933 cartridge?

If it's a 932, can your try to clean the cartridges 2 times more?  Are there changes?  If this does not help, take a look at the following link and try all measures not yet taken.  Click here  Let me know how it goes.
