  On the file menu, remove the generated project/library files.  It is a simple screen refresh problem, should be supported in a future update.

• Blank thumbnails for people under macOS Sierra

  Hi all! I use an iMac 21.5 ' (end 2013) with the latest Mac OS update of the Sierra (10.12 for the moment).

  I found a strange behavior of the Photos app, using the people album.

  With the help of pictures under Mac OS X El Capitan, I crossed the long process to define all the faces of my friends for each image of my iCloud photo library; I also removed all faces unwanted by pressing the x key.

  Under the Sierra, the Photos app crossed another analysis of the faces still: all the faces I confirmed under El Capitan are still there, but in addition there are plenty of new tiles white in the section "add people" that I can't delete or use.

  I thought something during the scan of people was wrong, so I rebuilt the library of photos, but nothing has changed.

  It turned out that the blank tiles are people I removed (under El Capitan) by pressing the x key. In fact, if you duplicate one of the images affected by this issue, you will find that it recognizes the new faces and the application lists correctly under the section "add people". If you open the image and remove the circles of those faces, you will find that the section "add people" now have black thumbnails.

  I think it is a bug. Next week, I'll call Apple support report.

  In my opinion, the good feature should be the following:

  • If people are recognized on a new photos, these are listed under the heading "add people";
  • If you want to hide them, faces are still recognized by the software, but they do not appear in the list of people;

  Since the installation of Sierra, I experienced some problems with the Dictionary application. I'll try to explain this in the least difficult way possible. So whenever I try to do a quick search of dictionary-based on Spotlight, Spotlight gives me no results for dictionaries monolingual English. This means that if I have the New Oxford American Dictionary and its corresponding Thesaurus, Spotlight do not think everything about these dictionaries and keep will show the results of dictionaries, I disabled it, which in this case is the bilingual Italian-English Dictionary. Now, as much as I appreciate see entries from the dictionary being translated in my own native language (Italian), I would also like to see the entries in the monolingual dictionary on Spotlight, I strongly need for my work. I have no problem with context menus because they show all the dictionaries that are enabled in the dictionary application preferences window. To summarize, it looks like that Spotlight does not recognize these two American dictionaries (I also tried with a Dutch-English Dictionary) and continues to find definitions for the bilingual. This phenomenon happens to you too much on the Sierra? I would also add that, as a countermeasure, I did the following: deleted the file com.apple.Spotlight.plist in the folder of user library, re-indexed Spotlight, tried on a new account user without result, disabled the definitions in Spotlight, moved preferences box and down the dictionaries selected in the pane preferably small in the dictionary.

  The question I did experience is otherwise.

  I depend a lot on the context dictionary and see that it is missing, once upgraded to 10.12 is a bit annoying, not because I can not find how to fix it (because I think I have), but I'd need to know where to do this. Whenever I write a strange word, I try to make sure I use it properly. However, when I 'Look Up' a Word, I get a wikipedia article on a group of rock or something unrelated, like the component dictionary was gone by default.

  Only by reading this thread I was able to launch the dictionary application - which immediately began to download a copy of the New Oxford American Dictionary. I guess my next task is to find an easier to apply dictionary (Canadian) and understand how to install it.

• Recently upgraded to 12.5.1.21, the majority of the missing artist thumbnails

  Windows 8.1, just upgraded to iTunes 12.5.1.21 in order to then get iOS 10.

  After having launched iTunes backup all of the artist, photo thumbnails have been replaced by an icon generic microphone. The few artists that have a picture in place are those where I bought a track of Apple as shown here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/30633591

  Don't know whether to think it's a bug or a really unattractive design decision.

  Previously to develop, except those with purchases that I described most of the artists seemed to have a miniature consisting of a piece chosen random album art.  All my album art is intact.

  I need an AppleScript script to copy to the Clipboard a thumbnail of a selected file (s. picture 1 below) with a hyperlink to the URL of the selected file.

  I have a script that allows me to get the URL of the file and copy it to the Clipboard. But then I have to paste the URL into my Document, back to the finder, make a screenshot of the thumbnail of the file, paste this screenshot and enter the URL (manually copy) of the file (choose the context menu of the image) (s. image 2 below):

  

  Is there a way to automate this?

  I could do the screenshot manually, this is actually no problem, but then I would need to attribute this screenshot on a Clipboard 1, go back and get the URL of the file and attribute it to Clipboard 2 and then go to my document and paste Clipboard 1 first, chose the menu popup "hyperlink" and the Clipboard paste 2.

  I would be grateful for the help!

  OpenOffice or LibreOffice aren't outwardly scriptable with AppleScript or Automator, as to exclude these two applications that support. They are inwardly Python scriptable via their respective SDK.

  I became aware of a solution of AppleScript that invites for the input file, then uses a custom (port) application that uses QuickLook to generate an image thumbnail jpg to your specified output destination. I added a line of AppleScript that sends the URL of the file to the Clipboard.

  After running the script, I can paste the URL of the document in LibreOffice and follow by drag and drop the jpg thumbnail afterwards.

  

  Do you want me to post the directions for this solution. In its current form, it is not written for processing batch.
