Dell 960 reports 'No bios' - LED flashing 2,3,4 and button / stop Amber

I tried to upgrade my Dell Optiplex 960 MT CPU, but after I dropped the new processor, wired everything back up and the power button is pressed, the 2,3,4 LED started to blink immediately and the power button is Orange fixed.

I tried to put the original processor back, but I got the same results.

The lights come on immediately when the button is pressed.  Nothing shows up on the screen at all.  Pressing on F2 does nothing, because the problem is detected immediately, before that all orders can be received to enter setup at all.

I saw two possibilities when you look at codes of LED indicator, with one saying "no BIOS." I've never heard of such a thing, but I found the BIOS reset jumper on the motherboard and he jumped. Nothing has changed.

The other possibility is that the motherboard had somehow that went wrong.  I have no idea how could it happen, as I had not done anything to the motherboard.  But after a few days of having it nag at me, I found a replacement motherboard (0Y958C) and ordered him to the top.

I was all excited when it arrived yesterday and started taking the original motherboard and install the new one and install the new processor along the way.

It was a pretty fast, and before long, I was ready to press the power button once again, fully anticipating the machine back to life.  However, once more, I saw the 2,3,4 of light again and the power button an orange fixed.

Yet once, I tried to put the CPU original back, but still the flashy 2,3,4 turned on, as soon as I pressed the power button.

I'm totally stumped here.

Why would this happen with two different mothers (two 0Y958C).

No idea how to get the BIOS to be recognized again...?

Do you know that the new processor is actually compatible with this motherboard? He enrolled in decision-making does not mean THAT BIOS supports.

You can try this:

  1. Power off, unplug
  2. Power button press / hold for! 5 s
  3. Remove the battery from motherboard
  4. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
  5. Reinstall the old CPU, if it is not installed
  6. Replace the battery
  7. Close-up and try to start with only mouse, screen and keyboard connected

This just started happening.  A document (no matter what I print) will begin to print, get the first two lines printed and then take incredibly slow.  Meanwhile, the power LED flashes and the message says "print...". "If I restart my computer and as you turn the printer power on and off, it will correct itself.  Anyone else have this or know what to do?  Thank you

Looks like the printer can be connected to a surge protector and the surge protector can not provide the stream of electricity the printer needs since it starts then slows down and the power LED flashes.

The printer is connected to a surge protector?  If so, plug it directly into a wall socket.  If it's related to the surge, the question shouldn't be present.

Did you use the right adapter?

To be honest, it looks like a malfunction of the power supply motherboard maybe electronic issue of power.
the power indicator would start flashing amber if the AC adapter voltage is abnormal or failure of computer power supply.

  • Satellite Pro M10 cannot start properly - AC LED flashing orange

    Hello

    I have a weird problem that I can't solve.

    (1) when my Satellite Pro M10 the plugged AC adapter and the battery, the AC led is green and battery led is orange.
    (2) when I try to turn it on, several times it not light and the dissepear of leds for 1 or 2 seconds and my AC led flashes orange. Sometimes it lights up as it should be.
    _________
When this problem occurs, it will take a lot of time before it turns normally. I searched the internet for a solution, but I couldn't find one.

I already removed the battery and try to turn it on, but it does not solve the problem. Or when I remove the AC adapter and try to start it on the battery itself.

I also removed the two of them and you press the button power on for 60 seconds. After that, it will sometimes start with mains or battery adapter.

My bios is updated to the latest version. (I've done this when he started only five minutes ago, but the problem is not resolved). I also believe that when the m10 is enabled and when I close it, it crashes also.

Do anyone know how to solve the poblem? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

These problems are very rare and shouldn't t happen if hardware or software is ok.
Power LED blinking orange means there could be a hardware malfunction.
It is a code flashing microphone and a technician can be read.
This code must be translated into the hexadecimal digit.

But for ordinary users it s not able to know what it means. In my opinion a power electronic malfunctions and must be verified by an ASP.

    Hi all.
First of all, sorry for my English.

My problem is simple, I have a bios dead after flashing Toshiba service station (or something like that).

How it happened? : 4 days ago, it asked me to update. It was for me quite normal because she asked for updates on a daily basis. I enablished day and after a few cliks on button then I noticed it has been updated to BIOS and is almost in half. I wanted to wait to the end (because I know if I stop uptade of bios, I end up with dead bios (bios corrupted)) but collapsed almost at the end and he showed me a few errors. After that my laptop did a restart and I couldn't stop it. He died.

Now, if I push the power button / stop I get a screen black (as it is off) som LED turns on and the Cpu fan to perhaps 10%.

What I did the last 3 days? : I searched all the residents on what to do with it. I tried maybe 10 types out crisdisks with usb and CD (with floppy isn't becose Bios for my laptop is too big for 1 floopy).
I tried to start with FN + B this has worked for me CD player began to search for CDs, USB key showed activity, but dead end happened nothing. I tried to make the Boot usb with the latest minidos.sys and phlash16.exe. I tried to combinate but still nothing.
I tried everything I found on internet forums around. Nothing helps.
Another thing is that only bios I found was 1.90. If anyone has an older bios for my laptop pls give me a link. I'm losing hope becose I can not find anithing on google.

Sorry, mate, but you should contact the http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/ ASP.

Unfortunately, the warranty does not cover failure of the bios and you will have to pay about US $ 50-60 (anyway, it costs like that in my service center)

    Greetings to you all

Also on my side i have the power to change, and the back side of the Commission, have nothe pass as the power switch, if a press led ligh e stops, I'm talking about, I have everything ready dissamble boad ok, on my hand, I found this switches... what he for?

And some one take the battery CMOS, in frist place I guess is not a problem, only the Don t of the bios, save the changes I did, plase can one help everything, everything...

Find the testicles or, thank you!

I can tell you with certainty what s wrong with your laptop, but I guess that its a serious problem of motherboard.
Perhaps the electronic power supply on the motherboard is affected.

Fact is that this isn't the battery problem. Why? Because the laptop should work without the battery, but comes to connect to the network.

You said that the adapter is OK. Well, it means that the battery and AC adapter isn't the troublemaker you said that memory was also tested.
So this isn't memory problem and, therefore, I think, it could be the related problem of motherboard.

  • Occasional BIOS LED Code 2

Sometimes (about once every two weeks) when I turn on my computer, there is no the BIOS boot and get a pattern of flashes of my NumLock and caps lock LED. (ON-off-ON-long stop, repeat)

I looked at the LED code, and it says I have a BIOS Corruption failure error. (My laptop does not restart during this error code)

I noticed that the problem occurs only with a single USB port, with any device. Is the lower USB port at the back of the laptop. I met the problem with a JVC Everio camcorder and a memorex rotodrive.

    My P/N is NB224UA

Edit: I solved the problem. I uninstalled all USB hubs in Device Manager and rebooted. Once reinstalled Windows the hubs, the problem occurs is no longer.

  • Power supply question - amber LED flashing - Dimension E520

So, I'm working on the dust removal and re - install windows on a machine. I've done dusting, but now I have problems with a LED flashes orange. The system will not top all - fuel without fans or beeps.

After looking through some posts for ideas, I think it is a bad power supply or a problem with the heat sink.

I think power because this seems to be a common problem. How can I test the existing? Is there a way to fire unless it is connected to the motherboard?

The reason why I am wary of the heatsink is that I removed it when I was doing the dusting. I had the intention of fire tonight and get a new thermal paste in the coming days. Since then, I have read that this could be a recipe for frying the total CPU and I wonder if the machine is not pulled up like a check for free preservation any.

It detects if I removed the heatsink? If it's happening, it will automatically detect when the new thermal paste is in there? Or is there a reset procedure any?

Any help would be great. Thank you!

As a side note, the design of this box is poor. I can't find some way to dust effectively the heatsink without removing it from the central unit. Supply openings do not match, so you cannot blow a good flow of air through the box.

A flashing orange switch LED means that the computer is under voltage, but a power problem internal may exist.

  • Reconfigure RAID (Online Capacity Expansion) does not work for non Dell drives in the bios and is not available in OMSA for VMWare

VMWare users have found a solution for the following?

Readers of PERC H700 and H800 (firmware current 12.10.4 - 0001 A10, r610 servers) allow the user (in the bios during startup) to create new virtual disks using non Dell drives, but you cannot expand a virtual disk existing readers not Dell, when in the bios.  The option is grayed out.

OMSA for Windows bypasses it.  Virtual disk | Tasks | Reconfigure can do online capacity expansion and accepts disks not Dell for this.

Problem is OMSA to VMWare ESXi (v7.2, the current version and older versions) doesn't have a virtual disk tasks fall to the bottom.  You can not even a hard drive flashes.  (VMWare ESXi = v5.1)

The only solution we can think of is to have two drive arrays connected to the computer, and create a simple Windows with OMSA, boot in Windows Server to expand the virtual disk using OMSA for Windows.

I would be interested in the comments of others, including those of Dell.  We spent hours on the phone with Dell; This seems to be the only solution.  (Yes, Dell released a firmware version last year that has ceased blocking non Dell readers, but it only works for the creation of a new virtual disk, do not expanding one existing).

The firmware update the unlocked non certified discs was in July 2010 (two years ago).  No latest updates seem to speak of changes/updates to update that.

I don't know why uncertified discs would be blocked for a single operation (expansion/reconfigure) - are get you certain types of message that certainly is the case?  Did you do that with certified readers?  Last I heard, Dell had a firmware update in the works that would allow an extension to get the CTRL-R utility, where it historically could not be done from there.  12.10.4 as of 2012, I guess (if the Dell guy who told me he rode was OK) this update has not been released yet... However, I could be wrong.  I don't have a H700 to test with, but you can try OMSA live as an alternative to the construction of a temporary Windows Server to try the expansion of the OMSA.
