When I try to scan with my CanoScan N640P ex scanner I receive a message indicating the Port to the printer that is used by another device. How can I work around this problem?
Hi ejp70,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2. to when was the last time the scanner was working fine?
3. you have any other printer\scanner connected to the computer?
If you have any other printer\scanner connected to the computer, disconnect them and check if it works.
I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the scanner to the computer, also make sure that you install the latest drivers for scanner on Canon website.

CanoScan 5600F Scanner appears as unknown in Device Manager
I have a new CanoScan 5600F scanner which appears as unknown in Device Manager. I downloaded and installed the latest driver (several times) from Canon.
- I tried the scanner on two PC running XP Home - a new Compaq Presario and a new Barebone VisonMan. It does not work on either.
- I also tried the Epson scanners on both machines, and they don't work either.
- However, when I run the Compaq Presario with Vista (which came with it), works to scan Canon. Problem is, I don't use Vista (or Win7) and I have no intention of.
This seems to indicate that it is a problem with XP Home, do not recognize the scanner. I did not have this problem with any other USB device. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Windows 7 does not recognize that a Canon canoscan 8000F is as a device when it is connected to the USB port. Tried unplugging, reboot & reconnect, in different orders, but the computer does not recognize there is. Tried to install a European website for Canon driver: Scangear CS, 8000fvst8120a_xpen.exe, which is advertised as compatible with Windows 7. But the installer does not work.
Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
Hello Graboots,
Thank you for your message. You can plug your printer on another computer, in order to exclude the possibility that the problem lies in the printer? You can try using a different cable, for this rule as well. Since it is a question of recognition, we remove the external devices before software troubleshooting. Do you get anything when you plug the printer (ie. a tinkle of connection)? Please let us know, we are looking forward to hear back on your part.See you soonEngineer Jason Microsoft Support answers visit our Microsoft answers feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Recently, I replaced a defective scanner with a scanner CanoScan LiDE 220. I use this with Dell desktop PC running VIsta 32 bit. The scanner is connected through a USB cable. I can scan pictures to my Adobe software, no problem, but am unable to scan documents and print directly on my Canon PIXMA iP4850-printer. When I use the scan on the scanner button, I get the message "CanoScan IJ Uitility Scan has stopped working". I tried to reinstall the driver software for the scanner and also driver software downloaded from Canon.
Can someone advise?
Canon says you could DO what you were trying to do (use it as a copier via your computer) with the current set of equipment?
I mentioned it to uninstall all software for Canon because... If this system was installed with a different set of devices (especially since they were all same brand, Canon) front and work you desired (in this case a photocopier), you can get rid of all the evidence that for all the involved devices (printer included) and I could argue that even if the printer still prints It could be equally to blame in this way for the problem than anything else as a whole. It is a full process (scan, pass through the computer and the printer drivers, print) and not only the new scanner. A clean slate might give a better chance of getting this process at work - if he can.
It is possible that Canon might be able to work with you for cleaning things so it works - it seems unlikely that it is a matter of 'firewall' any given track and the fact that you stated the Canon software crashes.
I'm fair to assume that both are connected by USB only - no network cable (wired or wireless) between the computer and the printer device or a scanner?

64-bit driver for scanner Canon Canoscan 670u
I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7. When you try to install my Canoscan 670u scanner, no TWAIN drivers were found. On this site I found and successfully installed a driver 64-bit for this scanner that someone else I work for the same scan in Windows 7: http://www.64bitdrivers.com/driver.php?id=1368
I restarted with and without the scanner is plugged, but I always get the message that no driver is installed. In the device, clicking Properties, on the Canoscan Device Manager: the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).
Any help on how to proceed now would be much appreciated.Hi hmarcuse,.

Need a driver for CanoScan 9950F
I have A CanoScan 9950F which is not compatible with my Windows 7 Premium Edition. The driver for a 32-bit system, new 64-bit system. No driver problem on the Canon site for this problem. Bright ideas out there?
Get a device support. If the manufacturer doesn't have 64-bit drivers, then no one else will, and if they offer compatible driver and no advice on what will work the other/other drivers, here again, no one else will have.

I have Windows 7 Professional x 64. I'm trying to uninstall a bad driver or other software for CanoScan 600F Flatbed scanner. When I try to, I get this message: "this program is for Intel 32-bit compatible platforms only. The program will be left. »
It is therefore impossible for me to uninstall.
I downloaded the 64-bit driver appropriate and installed, but that did not help: Windows does not recognize the existence of the device. I guess that, until the messed up bad software is uninstalled, I can't install things right. I managed to uninstall the good driver, but the wrong software is still there. It appears in the list of programs in the Control Panel, but can not be uninstalled.
So, how one uninstall when this message?

Scanner CanoScan 8400F cannot find the WIA driver in Win7 x 64
Scanner CanoScan 8400F was working on win7 x 64 Home Premium Office.
I use it every month. Last month it worked fine. Now stopped working - get message saying cannot find WIA driver. WIA service stisvc runs under services.
I tried driver/software updates from Canon support - no help.
Scanner works on laptop with win7 x 64 Professional with updated drivers/software.
I think that the scanner is not serious, that desktop usb ports are in agreement, that support of Canon software is correct.
What does not work in the operating system? Thank you.
Pete
PS. I've referenced the Community issue of MS at the following address, but cannot stop stisvc service to restart.

Hi Pete,.
Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?
Method 1:
Run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check if that helps.
Method 2:
I suggest to uninstall the drivers for the device and then reinstall it by downloading manually from the Web site:
Uninstall / reinstall the drivers scanner
Method 3:
See the articles and check if that helps:
Start the Service of WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) or Stimon
