Drive hard Smart check FAILED 1. It does not boot to windows. Do I need another HD?

Hello

(Sorry for my English Italian..) I started windows, but strangely it went very slow, he continued to work, but very very slowly (no internet, it seems that I had 30 MB of RAM!) So I started "HDD regenerator" and he found bad sectors.

When I finally interrupts him (too much time, 4% in 24 hours) the laptop (HP PAVILION 15 n006sl) can't find windows, it asks for me to start a startup (like a USB stick or a cd) disk.

Hello

Error code 24 characters for the SmartTest failure would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - includes the complete model number and Nr laptop - see here for an explanation.

  • HP laserjet pro p1102w: hp laserjet pro p1102w does not work on windows 10 - printer needs attention

    I installed Windows 10 on my HP PavilionX2 about two weeks ago and after a lot of false starts but I finally going.  I set up my printer HP Laserjet Pro 1102w associated with the installation of HP application and got new drivers, etc.  The installation was successful.  When I tried to print.  I received the message that my printer requires attention. I use generic cartridges, which seems to be contributing to the problem.  However, I discovered that the printer would be finally print everything I sent him a few hours later.  So, every time I want to print I just ignore the message about needing to care, but I have to wait several hours before Windows 10 finally released the document for printing. I have no problems whether in point 8.1 of Windows.  It is new with Windows 10.

    My printer works on three of my Windows 7 computers and on three of my computers windows 8.1 and on my iPad, so there is no truth to the message that the printer requires attention.  The printer works fine, but it does not work in Windows 10.  Microsoft Community is no help.  I reinstalled the drivers at least three times using the HP Setup utility. It was worthless.

    Is it possible to fix this?

    Hi @technickel5,

    I see that you are having problems printing just the Windows 10 computer, the print job prints a few hours later after sending it. I will do my best to help you with this problem. If this helps you to find a solution, please click on the button "" accept as Solution"" down below this message. If you want to say thanks for my effort to help, click on the 'Thumbs Up' to give me a Kudos.

    I would cycle power to the router, restart the computer and the printer to see if it will help.

    It can be assigned to the printer port. Devices and printers, right click on the printer and left click on printer properties, select the Ports tab and see if the printer is checked on TCP/IP and no WSD. Let me know how it is listed.

    Download and run the print and Scan Doctor, he will diagnose the problem and could solve it automatically.

    Here is a list that the PSDR check on the computer.

    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)

    If there is anything else I can help you, let me know. Thank you.

    Looks like you need to replace the hard drive on your laptop.

    If the laptop is still under warranty, you can contact HP customer care and they need it support for you.

    Make sure you have ready operating system recovery discs if you try replacing the hard drive yourself you will need those to get Windows reinstalled on the system. If you have not done any before the hard drive crashed, you should be able to order them from HP. If you need assistance with this portion of it, let me know.

  • Computer turns on but does not boot to Windows, startup repair does not work

    When I turn on my laptop, it brings me to a screen titled "Windows Error Recovery" which means the following:

    "Windows did not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. »

    He asks me if I want to '(recommended) launch Startup Repair' or 'Start Windows normally'.

    When I select repair system, the screen turns off for half a second only and brings back me to the exact page as I was already on.

    When I select "Start Windows normally", he brings me to the loading screen that usually starts with Vista (anyone who says (c) Microsoft Corporation), except that it never stops loading.  I left for hours, and he was still on the same screen.

    I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1525 with a processor Intel Core 2 Duo and Windows Vista Basic.

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    Any ideas how solve/fix this?

    And what do you think could be done to solve this problem?
    What do you think of reinstall Windows?

    In my opinion, it is a very good solution for this problem. Just boot from the Toshiba Recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen. All that s!
    Or you take a drive to Microsoft and download the drivers from the Toshiba site.

    Good luck!

  • System does not boot into Windows when a USB is installed

    It's strange.  I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade (64-bit) of a previous Vista machine.  Has made the choice of 'Upgrade '.  Now that it is finally installed and get some of the bugs resolved, a question I still have is when a (key, post HD) USB device is installed in the machine and I run a reboot or extinguished/turned on, the system starts to boot, runs through the BIOS section, but just before trying to start Windows I get a fast blinking cursor in the upper left of my screen.  If I remove all the devices usb between PC and manually must shut down and restart it restarts in Windows very well.  What is the problem?

    Desktop HP M9350F model; 64-bit; BIOS Rev 5,29 (28/04/09); BIOS Boot Priority: floppy, CD, HD, network (note: there is no other choice shown/available USB?)

    Maybe someone else has had this problem and an easy fix is avaiable.  Thank you!

    CD,

    Well believe it or not, I realized the problem.  Not the BIOS.

    One program, I have installed is SecureDoc WinMagic.  It's encryption software, although my drive has (yet) been encrypted.  In fact I had contacted the Lim before this same thread started to think it might be because of that, but he told me it was probably my BIOS and nothing to do with their SW.

    However, last night I decided to remove their SW before my "repair" operation was scheduled.  How to have this removed SW, it's just our curiosity, I decided to start once more with a USB device installed to see if the hang up has continued.   By my surprise, the start went as usual by means of windows and office.  DAMN!  all this time lost, mine and yours!

    I contacted the company SW this morning and they found a way to modify their SW and get the boot to work (always with the unencrypted disc).

    I wanted you and someone on this thread to know the outcome, so if this happens in the future with another user, this can help to avoid long-term on unnecessary troubleshooting.

    Thank you once again for all the time you have helped me with this issue!

    2. I am trying to clone my HARD drive through of an SSD, but I have a hidden partition on my HARD drive and my clone of samsung software does not work. Any thoughts on how to work around this problem?

    1. with respect to the first question: your system files have been corrupted. Do a System Restore before the app was used.

    Try you "tune up", "maximize", "registry cleaners" or any what kind of app that promises to improve the performance of your PC somehow. None of them improve anything, often at the antipodes (as you discovered). Microsoft W7 already has all the apps. you need to keep your PC in tip-top condt. Try not to add anything.

    All these various named apps. are all 'snake oil' and very dangerous to use. However, you will find a lot of 'logic' online promo. material from "authoritarian" sites as to how will be beneficial for your PC. Not drawn in by these Advertorials :)

    2 the hidden partition is probably "restore to factory condt." partition rescue/recovery of the manufacturer of your computer. This can be used for the rescue of PC when things diabolically wrong with your operating system and cannot be set by any other means. You need an ISO image (clone) of the OS partition and MBR (master boot record) only, not the entire HARD drive.  Including the partition of relief are a very good idea but I'm not familiar with the software cloning you use.

    Download Macrium Reflect free edition for purposes of cloning and recovery and make the CD

    image recovery disk. He advises you to do so (by steps in the simple wizard driven) before using the program for anything regardless of whether the image.

    Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

    Windows key + X - Control Panel

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click the device - driver
    Tab: click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then do a CLICK RIGHT to the road.
    UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack

    Try to do a "Refresh your PC without affecting your files" (or modification of your personal data

    Windows 8 includes special discount methods (keep files and settings) or a reset

  • CD/DVD drive does not appear in Windows 8

    My CD/DVD drive no longer appears in Windows Explorer in point 8.1 of Windows on my desktop HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034. The disc rotates during startup. I tried the troubleshooting of Microsoft Window 8 with no luck. I would try the HP troubleshooting which requires access BIOS when booting, but by pressing F10 at startup me does not BIOS but Windows load normally. Any suggestions to at least help me get the BIOS?

    Solved! No. thanks to HP. Even if I had never opened the file on my PC and make sure that the cable DVD could not be disconnected, I decided to look for. Much to my surprise, he has been disconnected - but not by me - by a HP technician. I remembered that I had to return the PC to HP to replace the power supply warranty in June 2014. Not only have they not reconnect the cable SATA DVD, they put the cable from the hard drive in the MB connector where the DVD cable was supposed to be. After trial and error and insert the DVD cable in the 3 open SATA connectors with no luck, and finally move the cable from the hard drive to another connector and put the cable DVD where the cable from the hard drive was, the DVD has been recognized by Windows and working correctly. Thanks to HP for the many hours I lost to try to correct their mistake.
