You can usually order of recovery of your software page model pilots media. You can find the page using the button at the top of this page titled 'Support & Drivers'. Or you can call HP > Contact HP overall is usually less than $20.

My Pavilion dv7t3300 has two hard drives... A SATA 500 GB of data and an SSD 128 GB containing the operating system and other programs.   The SSD drive that contains the operating system failed.  When I install the replacement SSD, I intend to use the HP System recovery DVD (2) which came with the unit.  If I load the recovery disks will be erase/format all my data-files in the 500 GB drive.

    The new drive is "naked".

I just remove the second disk while making the recovery operation and slap it in when the process is complete. Better safe than sorry. Theoretically, the recovery disks will not affect the second drive, but it's really easy to be sure that they will not be 100%.

  • Remove the recovery drive and drive C on the internal drive of 2 2nd

I installed a Kingston 120 GB SVP200S37A / 120G on my HP Pavilion dv7t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Professional.

I took the cable USB and case provided with my package and plugged my old hard drive of 320 GB.

Installed the SSDNow v + Series software and installed it.  At this point, I was happy to see my new Kingston 120 GB SSD and unplugged my old hard drive.

Last week, I installed my old hard drive to 320 GB in my laptop.

My current SSD is the C drive and disc HP_Recovery (D).

My old drive is Local Disk F and Local Disk G.  Can I do this in a single drive?

Is it possible for me to remove the HP_Recovery (D) drive then put it on to my second drive?

    Hello

Unfortunately, the second Bay of your laptop drive isn't bootable - this is true for all of the dv7 series, so spend the recovery Partition of your SSD HARD disk will cause any recovery attempt fails.  If you want to use a player of the second span, it can only be used for extra storage.

To make the drive in the second span in a single volume, you must do the following - keep in mind that this will destroy all data on the disk.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click disk management in the left pane and let readers load upward.

For all volumes shown on the Second disk, right-click each in turn and select "delete the Volume.  When you are finished, you should have just "unallocated space indicated.  Click on this and select Format to start the wizard.  Windows 7 will affect a Volume label so if your happy with it, just leave the default.  File system is NTFS.  Allocation unit size must be left by default.  Select the option to perform a quick format if it is not already done.  Leave all the other default settings, and then click Ok, and then Ok to start the process.

Once this done, your disk should now appear as a single volume when you look under the computer.

    Kind regards

  • 5 created recovery media as requested, however factory restore discs, 6 were necessary to my restore!

I clicked on finish, as it were has no more records requested when burning a batch of 5 (as requested by the HP Recovery Media software).

Now when I'm trying to do a factory restore, she prays for disc 6 which of course I did not.

As I have re-formatted everything back a little, I can't use F11 (?) to restore everything back except for my records. My laptop is a CTO dv7t-4100. I live in Australia but a new set of recovery disks are shown only to residents in USA & Canada. Any ideas please?

  • 2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - what do I need?

Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (product # WV703AV). It can accommodate two hard disks but only came with one. What would need to be able to install the second hard drive? I need just a connecting cable or I also need to caddy or kit?

Also, would I get a solid state? My laptop that would support or should I just use regular?

Currently, I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a 500 GB hd (which came to be partitioned with hp tools/restoration).

Help with what I would need to a conventional hard drive or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through messages of others first, but could not find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!

    Hello:

The only place I know where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is that provider.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

Your laptop should be able to work with an SSD, but I can't guarantee it.

I don't really see any point in adding an SSD unless you make the main hard drive, and to do this, you must get an SSD of the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

Most people get smaller SSD and they use the W7 product key to activate a simple installation of W7.

If you can read all 25 characters of your product key for windows 7, you can do your own installation media and allows to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Install Win 7 on new SSD, DV7t-3000

    Hi all

I just bought a new SSD 60 GB for my Pavilion dv7t.  I would like to install Windows 7 on SSD for fast loading times, etc.  However, the player is only 60 GB, and not the drive of 300 GB the OS is currently on.

Because these computers were not shipped with the OS installation disc, it seems that I have to make a recovery disk.  I read that for these to work, the drive that you get should be of equal size or larger than the original drive.

I'm near the top of the proverbial Creek on that?  I can't imagine that HP would limit it like that.  No way I can afford a 300 GB HDD anyway!  Is it possible to install the OS I paid on my new drive?

Thanks for all the help.  Enjoy your week.

    -Matt

Laptop recovery disks does not require the same hard drive (size), however, there may be minimum hard disk size requirement.

Why not do a set of recovery discs anyway (might be useful in case of any problem hard drive). Replace the hardware with the new SSD and try the system with the disk recovery? Keep the original for a while hard disk, however, may use it as the 2nd drive.

  • Recovery Manager fails to restore the image after the changes made to the hard disk Partition

    Hi support forum.

I use a HP dv7t quad ed. ive decided to partition my hard drive of 750G. While the partition is on progress, all of a sudden, the monitor turns off and had no picture. I think that, maybe, he had disappeared "sleep mode". I don't have no mode 'sleep'. I'm trying to scroll through the touch pad in the hope that the image will reappear again. but nothing happens. thinking that it is just the monitor was in mode 'sleep' and the hard drive still flashes, I still waited 45 minutes for the process to be finished and maybe it will just restart it self. After an hour of wating, power the laptop off and the power button flashes. I assumed, but in doubt that the partition has been completed, I press the power and it turned off. as I press the power button to turn it on, my computer does not start, and I knew that my computer it was damaged. Ive tried the 3 options to access the F11 recovery but nothing works.

I hope you cud help me guys. TNX

  • With the disk system recovery, system will not read

Hello, I got my HP Pavilion dv7t-6000 laptop repaired while I was (and am still) in Europe in January this year. When they fixed my HDD, him has not loaded in many settings, programs and applications that I use/am used to / and pleasure to use. I sent RESUMES to the recovery disks that I have now. The problem is when I run the recovery program, after disconnection and everything, I get to the screen where it says insert the System Recovery DVD, which I do, and a screen appears which reads has not found disk. I re - insert the new attempt to drive / vile and again the same message every time, even though I hear the pilot running and when I enter the drive connected to windows, it appears in the pilot, so I know, he knows it's there. I need serious help on that and quickly because the people who fixed were no help at all. I have windows 64-bit. I make my living on this laptop, and I'm kind of panic around here.

Are you at the end of the process here:

  • dv7t-2000 system restore

I try a system restore on my laptop HP dv7t-2000. I started restoring from disk hard partition, i.e. System Recovery Manager, Advanced Options, system recovery, etc. (as described on page 33 of the booklet that came with the computer when I bought HP Notebook Essentials). The computer tried to restart but seems to be stuck at a blank screen with a blinking cursor on the upper left side of the screen. I'll leave it alone for several hours, but fear that the restoration has failed. The restoration will return to the orginial, Vista operating system that I've upgraded to Windows 7 with a RESUME provided disc. Suggestions?

    Attempt of Mrs.

I repeated the restoration of the system from the hard drive and the second time the restore worked.

  • Recovery HP Pavilion problem

Last may I made a backup of my HP Pavilion dv7t-3300 windows 7 notebook. It created a disk labeled "HP Laptop Repair Disk Windows 7 64 Bit". I don't remember but assume I was told to label this disk as such. It also created 4 disks I labeled "HP Lapatop Recovery Disk 1,2,3,4". The 1st disk has folders labeled “Boot, hp,Preload, Recovery and System.sav” plus some other files. Disks 2 and 3 have a folder labeled “preload” and a few other files. The last disk, disk 4 has 2 folders labeled “Preload and System.sav” plus a few other files. I did a system restore using the HP Laptop Repair Disk" This created a system which looks like what is probably the system installed when I bought the computer. I am trying to find a way to now use the 4 Recovery Disks I made to complete my restore. I cannot find any way to get my computer to use these disks. Does anybody know how to use these disks so I can complete the restore? They do not boot and they are not recognized during the restore process where I am ask to put in the last disk.

Creating recovery disk should have done 1 - X recovery disks (but many it necessary) rather than create those and a system repair disc.  Personally, I have not found HP Recovery Manager to make the system repair disc such that it is usually a builtin with Windows 7 feature.  Page 2 of this guide details how the process should have taken place.  She mentions that the labelling drives 1 x and no mention of a system repair disc.

The system repair disc is usually used to access advanced service of Windows 7 since a retail disk options is not provided.  What happens if you run recovery disc 1 of the actual transfer defined instead of the system repair disc?  Recovery should really be started from the disk labeled disk 1 as it initiates the recovery.

Don't have a HP Recovery Manager support when the system repair disc has been started? Other discs responded to after having inserted the floppy "system"?  If so, then I think that the 'system' disk is actually disc 1 of the recovery set.

By any chance, did you get the next screen at any point by using the system repair disk?

  • dv7t 7300

Does HP have, or give a CD of driver that supports Windows 7 to my laptop, series CTO dv7t-7300, or will be HP

support to convert my laptop for windows 7?   I understand that a cost is involved.    I already have very

a copy of Windows 7 Pro.Windows 8 is terrible and should not have been offered on a Non touchscreen laptop.

When you request support, please provide the product full of HP computer in issue number. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are at the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. , Please do not include your serial number.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

    You should ENABLE 'Secure Boot' and maybe 'Legacy Support' in the 'BIOS Setup boot secured' on the settings page below, before you try to install Windows 7;

In addition, as the hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" in the start menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest to use a disc of Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need a Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive.

For your model, HP seems to provide that drivers of Windows 8. Most of the Windows 7 driver for the page of CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC drivers HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 should work on your computer from HP dv6t-7300.

    If you have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers above, thanks for posting the "Hardware ID" Device Manager for devices as shown below;
