DVD drive on my laptop is more sees DVD, but he sees music CDs.

Three days ago my DVD drive stopped recognize DVD, but still sees and plays music CD. I said this is perhaps the result of a file corrupted in Windows. Given that Windows Vista has been installed on the laptop when I bought it, and I've not found a copy on CD when I unpacked it, how can I download or otherwise re-install Vista to correct this potential problem?

This is probably not because of the corruption of files. Optical drives like that have two lasers; one for the CD and a DVD. It is common for one of these lasers to fail. You can try a cleaning disc kit (sold in office/computer supply stores) but probably you just need to replace the disk. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Try another DVD to verify that your laptop can read at least the other DVD.  If he can't play other DVD's then you need to replace the DVD - CD ROM drive supplied with your Pressario.

Another thing you can try is to check fingerprints or scratches on the DVD, some DVD players are more sensitive than others.

    Hello

Step 1: Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
    solves the problem.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or

    Hello

Have you tried to close all programs and then insert the disc in the drive?

You have disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (burn CD & DVD and CD and DVD read).
Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD have a tolerance + - and you have to write on the side outside their tolerance. They can be given

  • Recovery disk failure after replacing hard drive of a laptop computer DV7 series

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4270us with Windows 7 64 bit and recently received a message on start-up indicating that the intelligent of my hard drive failed. I bought a hybrid Momentus XT drive. I bought the recovery discs, since I neglected to follow my own advice and did not have a game. Replaced the hard drive, and begun the process of recovery, after the disc of the Application, the system was declared finished, clicks the button, the system shuts down. Activated power, recovery took over for a few minutes, declaring that he was copying files, a few minutes later, he said it was over asking me to click done. After that I did it, the system has rebooted hung on the screen of the HP logo with the statement in the lower left corner indicating "press ESC for the Start Menu. My only recourse was to power down the machine. When I restart the computer, I get the message 'Bootmgr' missing

I have already paid through the forums and tried to download the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD of digital life. As it starts installing, it indicates that a driver is missing, I poured by drivers for this computer and see nothing for SATA, and none of the others would be required to start. I succeeded in my Windows 7 Professional on the loading system, but since I don't have an extra code to hang out professional, it's not helping right now.

I also tried to partition the new disk manually using a device that allows me to see the drive using a USB port and my office, but he's not right. The good news is that the old drive still works to a point. I can read it via USB, and I can back up the drive, with the exception of the recovery partition. But when I put the new disk and set up similar scores for the original drive, it still does not start.

I have tried many other things all pronounce the failure, I'm not used to failure when it comes to computers, so be gentle.

    Hello:

The missing pilot is due either to a bad burn or use another brand of DVD. You must burn the ISO at the slowest speed possible file that you can.

In addition, check the size of the ISO file that you downloaded. Sometimes you do not get the full 3. XX GB even if the download says completed.

If you have 4 GB or more large USB flash drive, you can install W7 as it.

    Just follow these instructions...

Download the MS of W7 USB installation tool and read the instructions on the page to use.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/p bPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

You may also make this mod as I did if the flash tool-error.

Download the bootsect file form http://www.everettsporting.com/bootsect.zip

You will need to go into Control Panel, select display large icons, go to the icon of folder options, view tab, and select the hidden files and folders option.

Once downloaded, copy the BootSect.exe file in the same folder that contains the file of Windows7-USB-DVD-Download - Tool.exe installed. This file in Windows 7's default installation directory is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool\

Run the application from the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool as described on the Microsoft Store website. The end result will give you a boot USB flash drive that contains everything you need to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

  • Replacing the hard drive internal for laptop HP Pavilion zv6000

    be a suitable replacement?

No, I don't think laptop IDE drives were made in sizes more than 500 GB. And the greatest, I see out there in any quantity is a 160 gig. This 320 gig was great, I could find on eBay right now:

  • How can I put a hard drive of the laptop into a desktop computer?

I have a HP Pavilion 5000 ZV who died some time ago, and the hard drive is always good. It's 60 GB running Windows Xp. there I got the laptop from a friend because they did not want. Also I have a desktop IBM Aptivia since 1998 and it has a huge 8 GB HDD running windows 98. I want to put the laptop drive in the desktop and take out the old one. I would buy a new hard drive, but it's Microsoft Office 2003 pro. This is the only copy I have and I did re install the product key. I need this computer for my workshop. How to operate? Is there a part I need? If Yes, where can I get a?

If I understand correctly, you have a laptop HP Pavilion ZV 5000 which doesn't work but has a 60 GB HDD that has installed Windows XP and Office 2003 is also installed.

You want to put the laptop hard drive in an old desk.

You have two problems: hardware and software.

Hardware issues can probably be solved easily (you would need something like this $10--> http://tinyurl.com/d539pwf kit - but read the comments).

The problem of software is that you can not take an existing installation of Windows XP and completely change the hardware.  If you try, you will need to do a reinstall of Windows before it will work.

If you have a generic OEM XP install CD, you may be able to do a repair installation (save applications - for example Office 2003), but the CD must be at a same or later version of XP (Home, Pro) and Service Pack level as the version of XP that is installed.  You must also have the product key that is associated with the OEM install CD (I think that the key to the label on the HP will fail).

More likely, you will need to do a clean install, which will involve formatting the drive.

If you have the Office 2003 installation CD, you can retrieve its installation key from the drive of the laptop before installing it in the office.  Probably the best way to do this is to put the laptop in a hard drive enclosure external drive, which attach to a working computer and use of Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder using his function to "Load hive".

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Yes, you are right logically.

Now I see two sceenarios for the solution to analyze your clues:

Number 1: Technically on the media (e.g - CD/DVD) in what place (at level nm) is the setup.exe, which might be a little corrupted or overburn.

To read the corrupted or overburn data recording Media(e.g-CD/DVD), lens optical drive must be precisely align / optimized. But your workout goal isn't in this top performance more. So that it can read only where another player can read that.

Actually lose everything in a music or movie playback by laser beam data a bit do not count a lot (maybe a drop of a sound level of a few nanoseconds which is missed by our ear) but to read a file .exe must be exact to change a little vital file execution make the whole file unreadable garbage before System. But such laser weakened to run well on music & movies.

To resolve the installation of MS Office thet you just copy all the content of the disc to your HARD drive & then try to install. If the problem persists copy the .exe to install a USB key, the other car that can be read. Then replace the HARD disk by the corrupt.

Number 2: (Associated virus infection) Your system might be infected severely by code viral insertion of viruses. While any execution of .exe file is impossible on the system, CD/DVD and HARD disk USB storage etc & they won't take their appropriate icons. Basically, he attacks the windows installer component & ban the user to install/play no matter what .exe file that require the help of Win Setup. So in this case change media with a new will not solve the problem. Except for the removal of the virus or system shape. So, you can use free Malwarebytes to scan.

You can use eset online scanner , scan side by side with

Microsoft® Windows® malicious software removal tool.

On the last day of your Windows install 4.5 at the bottom of the link that might help too:

Windows install 4.5 for 32-bit Windows XP

Also will help restore registry associated with .exe.

Conclusion: I'm going to, I said that the title of the thread is not quite right, as you cannot read data from a particular MS Office installation media. But this is not the case with any medium of data disc or installation. At least until your DVD drive so were unable to read all files on the disc, then it might be a pure hardware problem. But as you can see all the files except the .exe files, then there is an uncertain probability of hardware problem.

Now, you do the analysis & tell me is happening with any media/.exe to install file. Who here has solved your problem

Ask for additional assistance if necessary.

  • Back up the old hard drive to the laptop on a Compact Flash card

    Hello:

I have an old laptop Compaq 1220, works under Windows 95.

I have a CD drive (read only) and an internal 2 GB drive hard.

It has a slot for a card-card: the card can contain a Compact Flash (CF) card.

I also have a HP laptop much more current, which can read/write from/to CF cards,.

via a CF card recorder/reader, which has a USB conector.

I would like the files to "Backup" 2 GB HD to the CF card, so that they can transfer to the HP laptop.

I have to do something other than files (special) "gliding &" of the 1220 Compaq to the CF card?

    If so, please provide details.

I don't think I need to transfer all the Windows 95 files since they would be worthless for the

HP laptop running Vista 32 bit Home Premium (or I'm wrong).

I don't think I need to create an encrypted "image", because I don't want to install it on another machine (with BONE).

    Thank you...

    Hello

There is no special procedure other than drag / move to copy your Windows 95 computer data files in the card compact flash.

You will have to copy the files from Windows 95 computer data to compact flash card, then insert the same card compact flash in the Windows Vista-based computer card reader and then transfer the data files.

"There is no way to access the hard drive when there is no operating system and if the hard drive is connected terribly."

However, you can remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to the office with a case of hard disk that comes with the USB cable.
