DVD + RW disc is not recognized

I have a Toshiba SA40-231, model No. PSA40E-08DLT-EN which has a DVD ROM/R/RW. I tried to save some stuff using a DVD + RW 4 x. However, the reader does not recognize the DVD. What I am doing wrong?

Hello Gerry

Your device has just DVD-R/RW drive and it can't handle with + R or + RW media.

Good bye

  • DVD Player Toshiba laptop not recognizing discs

My DVD player portable Toshiba Satellite M300 no longer recognizes discs.  When a disc is inserted, the player turns on but does not recognize that a disk has been inserted.  I have read that it is a problem with the installation of the Vista SP2 but unable to find a solution.  Can anyone help?

It is unlikely to be caused by the software (Windows), but is much more likely to be an optical drive down (hardware). Try to start with a bootable CD/DVD, your installation of Vista/recovery DVD for example (do not run recovery!) or a Linux Live CD. If the reader does not recognize the drive outside of Windows you will know for sure that the material is bad. Contact Toshiba technical support for replacement in this case. Hi, Claudio Nahmad,.

This error can occur if the data in the registry for the device and its driver has been corrupted.

Since you have already done a factory restore, leave, try to uninstall and reinstall the driver CD\DVD and check if it helps.

  • pilot missing dvd/CD; drive even not recognized by the computer

somehow, when I tried to burn a dvd, (windows DVD Creator) the computer seems to have removed its own driver for the dvd drive (I put the disc in, it recognized that it was not a disk supported, put a new one in the drive, and create dvd windows then told me that I need to install a dvd/cd writer to complete my project). the relase button disk would not work after turning in the second disc and always used to work even after that. If I use a pin code manually to open and put a disk in the light lights up recocnizing there is something in there, but that nothing, not even spin the disc. No cd, dvd or all other discs work. Ive tried a few different driver Fixer programs, even those you pay (mender driver, driver detective - no even to recognize the missing driver) and can't seem to find a solution. cd/DVD device does not even appear in "device system' list or lists of material which must show all devices, programs or drivers... also do not show my E: / in my computer, what would be my dvd/cd drive." I tried the "regedit" and could not find the 'filter filter up/down' you are supposed to remove to fix. " filter of upper/lower case is not listed in the options.

I'm on a hp Pavilion dv6000 and ive tried searching on the site Web of hp and help all forums, with no solution until now...

    Hello

For the CD/DVD problem start up that convenience store and work down to jump
nothing. He is even said to continue if the CD/DVD drive is not displayed in Device Manager.
You are much less likely to solve the problem by a hit or miss approach to try this
or such. And of course, there may be a material cause.

The HP forums, ask questions and I hope that those who have had
the same issues on similar equipment that have solved the issue respond. Only way
to succeed is to give your best effort.

HP does not have a lot of online documentation and help diagnostics on their site and those
could help to resolve some of the questions withour paying for support.

Back up your data on the device and it goes back out of the box state
can be one of the best moves to solve the present problems.

    I hope this helps.

  • Bay DVD replace HARD drive not recognized by Windows

I have a 7737 with the 256 GB SSD, but I wanted more storage internally and was not too annoyed to have DVD - so I bought a caddy and replaced the optical drive with a WD Scorpio Black 750 GB drive.

When I went into administration - computer management - disk management tools, he acknowledged that the drive was there because he told me that he needed reprogramming - so I went ahead and let him. The disc quickly disappeared from the list, and I can't do anything that he can come back.

I tried to refresh, rescan the drives, restart (how can I confirm the BIOS recognizes the drive correctly, as the "SATA ODD', but Windows still refuses to acknowledge that he is here.) Device Manager displays only the SSD and scanning for hardware changes have no effect.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but now my laptop seems a touch slow, especially in the graphics... and I noticed that in the Task Manager, System interrupts now takes 10 percent of time CPU on average. I can't say that I've never noticed that before. My old Samsung laptop (which has integrated graphics rather than a dedicated card, to be honest) claims system interrupts doesn't take any time at all CPU. This seems to suggest a conflict any exist, and maybe that's why the drive is not recognized?

Because Device Manager is not see it, I can't check for updated drivers.

Because disk management can't see, I can't format / partition / assign a drive letter.

The BIOS does not let me do anything with the drive, go into properties or disable / re-enable, or something like that.

Can anyone suggest what I might have missed in the configuration, or what I can do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I can't find a downloadable diagnosis for your laptop. Try Seatools. Seagate website has a download, that you can use to create a CD bootable or flash player to test hard drives.

I just want to see if a tool outside Windows can detect the drive and all the problems.

  • Reset factory settings but the recovery disc is not recognized

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3030sd laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed OA.

I want to restore it to factory settings, but is not possible using Recovery Manager, because he does not see my recovery Partition.

Since I have recovery discs, I tried to restore my factory settings using the recovery discs.

However, it is also not possible. Even after setting my BIOS (boot order first DVD player) the laptop not start using the DVD player.

Then performed several actions (eventally I still adjusted registry) as mentioned by microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us?

Still not possible to start using a DVD player.

It goes the same for USB.

I can use my DVD player and USB but I can't boot from them.

How do I restore my laptop to factory settings?

I still have my product key and I was able to record an English version of Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 as an image on a DVD.

    What can I do?

Is it possible to mount it on my virtual DVD drive (BD - ROM drive) (so the picture of windows 7 in the virtual DVD drive and then install it?)

I hope that there is someone out there who is able to help me!

    Hello

Sometimes just set the boot priority in the bios menu does not work as it should.

    Try the following.

Insert your 1st recovery disk, and then click stop the laptop.

Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you start the launch of the laptop Boot Menu.

Select boot options ( f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.  You can also get a prompt to "Press any key to" continuous - it if requested.

    Kind regards

  • PlayMemories home: Tool for creating a disc in standard definition image quality (STD) (DVD-video disc) is not available

    Hello

I downloaded Sony PlayMemories home and tried to save my videos from camcorder to a disc in standard definition picture quality (STD) (DVD-video disc), it is described here:

    http://Guide.playmemoriesonline.com/help/en/PC/PMH-disc.html

After installing the plugin extra DiscAuthor, the tool 'Create disc' has only the following three options:

    1. Data disc
    2. AVCHD (HD)
    3. Blu - ray (HD) disc

The Option "DVD - Video (STD)" is completely absent.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thank you very much

    Daniel

    Hi dagleich,

Thanks for the information. The problem can be located on the format of your videos. I checked the model number and found out that your camera records in MiniDV. Unfortunately, video tapes and CD recording is not transferable on DVD using the House PlayMemories disks. Even with their conversion into files Mp4 Mp4s cannot be burned on DVD discs.

I would recommend looking for a local camera shop that could help to convert your files and save them in another medium.

To get help with your concern, we recommend that you visit our Sony Global Web site for more information on contacting Sony's Support Center in your area athttp://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/.

  • Personal problem with the drive (1 TB) - disc now not recognized by PC after 4 months of use

I bought this 1 TB PMD in July 2010 for my HP M7250uk with Windows XP desk top. This replaced my previous 320 PMD. It has worked well up to now and all of a sudden the drive is not recognized by my PC. I even tried it external connection with USB and electric connection, but still the same. My previous 320 GB drive still works today well using HP media Bay. Called HP support twice and calls for more half an hour, but not much progress to solve the problem. If someone has an idea of what could be the problem and how to solve it - would appreciate any help. It's very very frustrating.

    BTP1,

Opening of the PMD will void the warranty by HP. If it is still under warranty, then request an RMA and send it back.

But, I'd be curious to know the model number, and firmware has been in this case. (It's just me).  RETURNED!

This problem has been known, as woodmaster1 notes, for a long time, but it relates to their firmware and specific model numbers. Personally, I have 2 affected readers ST31000340AS (capacity of 1 t), there are "bricks" and the other has "thuds". Both drives are under warranty, and I will send both back for repair.

    I have also 3 disks (capacity of 1 t) Seagate ST31000528AS, with firmware CC34 (1) or (2) CC38. None has problems.

Just got 3 more ST31000528AS with CC38 firmware. http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822148433 but I paid only $49.99 on sale.  Date of manuf. Aug 2010

    woodmaster1,

As you have opened the case, what model and firmware, and date code did you find.  (Really curious).

    Date code calculator: http://www.bugaco.com/calculators/seagate_date_code.php

In case your application on six drives of 1 t, I only have 1 installed on my HP8100CTO. I use the other via a docking station ESATA external, cloning of my installed drive and transfer videos to the Dell 518 (also using the ESATA docking station). Hello

I think that this can be resolved very easily.
Go to the properties of the CD/DVD (right click > properties), select the tab called record.
There, you must activate the option called CD (mark) activate recording.

By the way; have you tried to use a burning like Nero for example software?
