E4200 gigabit WAN connection

I got my new E4200 for about 3 weeks. Its connected to a Motorola SB6120 cable modem. The modem displays a flashing blue LED when connected at a speed of 1 GB. Yesterday, I noticed the blinking amber LED indicating that the connection has been less than 1 GB. I rebooted and the E4200 and SB6120 pedaled power several times, and it never goes back to 1 GB blue LED.

The web interface on the E4200 shows the ports in the range of 10/100. It was fine for almost 3 weeks. All opinions why?

1. try different cables.

2. If this does not help, reflash the router with the latest firmware. Subsequently, reset the default router by pressing the reset for 30 seconds button. Then check if that makes a difference. If not, then it is probably a hardware problem, either with the router, the modem or cable. As it is almost impossible to really know I'd say you replaced E4200.

  • Failure of WAN connectivity

We had intermittent problems with our internet connection at our condo. We have a cable modem (Motorola SB6121) which is connected to the ISP Comcast. I had an old Airport Extreme. What we have noticed is that wifi on our devices fan would totally sometimes disappear. I thought that this meant that EI was defective. Last week, I bought the last AE and hung. Our current problem is that the internet connection is de-energized intermittently. Wifi fan stays on on our devices (macbook, iPad, etc), but we have no connectivity. Then it suddenly works again. I replaced the ethernet cable from the modem to the AE. I also ran the wifi diagnostics and have a newspaper. I took one of the dropouts. It says failure of WAN connectivity. Unfortunately, I'm not at the condo. It's far, but I try to understand what I have to do when we go back. I called comcast, and the representative said that our downstream energy level is in the "yellow" zone, while our upstream in the ' red '. The two should be 'green' Sounds to me as if it was a signal problem. Anyone would be able to tell me where to look in the newspaper for power levels upstream and downstream as well as SNR wireless? Then I post them. I'd be happy. Thank you

I'll be happy to help you find the SNR values, but you should consider that the cable modem may be in this case. The 'power levels' Comcast refer to are with their service to the modem. I suggest you have them replace the modem to see if that solves the problem you are having with consistent connectivity.

As much as SNR measurement, see the following Tip of an airport users. Please post back your results. Note: You will need a Mac laptop for this and be present to take measures.

  • LRT224 hickups: abandon the WAN connection?

    Hello

my new LRT224 shows hickups in my regard.

It is connected to a fiber-optic 100Mbps of my ISP connection.

If I try to stream video, it creates every minute or so a second or two to break up the transmission.

Obviously, this breaks my video stream.

The newspaper of the device (see below), says 'WAN connection fell', which seems rather strange and unexpected for me.

If I don't stream video and data binding is almost at rest, these messages of 'WAN fell' intermittent continue.

If I take the LRT outside and connect my PC directly to the line of ISP (Yes, bad practice) I don't have these hickups, and fine video streams (to a few Mbps).

I have updated the firmware to v1.0.1.01 but that has not made a difference.

In fact, I have disabled the 2nd WAN port.

"Dual WAN', the 'activate the Network Service detection' is not marked in the config. By selecting "Connection failover" or "Load balance" shows no difference (no improvement).

No idea why the LRT report "WAN connection is dropped?

I need urgently a solution, but the issue seems beyond my skills...

(In the newspaper, I also see "violation of policy. I don't know why they happen: I have no rules of firewall on the LAN or WAN IP addresses...)

    Thanks for any idea!

    Hello

Thanks for your replies!  I looked in the settings and methods to verify this behavior.

In the end, I decided that the behaviour of "drop the WAN" is not not to blame the LRT224: it seems really to be created by the ISP (the fiber modem): when I plug a small switch between the router and the modem 'abandonment WAN' messages have disappeared.  Now I 'just' convince my ISP to do something...

  • RV082 abandons a WAN connection immediately after creation

I have my 2nd WAN connection on the RV082 setup to connect via the static IP address for a T1 connection. When I connect the cable, reports the newspaper...

«WAN connection is in place: 216.130.xxx.xxx...» "and 3 sec later reports"connection to the Wan is down. "

Can I connect a computer directly to the T1 with the same static IP settings, and it connects without problems.

    I'm on firmware version v4.0.2.08 - tm.

    Any thoughts?

Have you tried changing the WAN2 connection with the WAN 1 connection to see if it will stay connected? You use Load Balance?

Also for the connection that may not be not connected trying to bump on the MTU to perhaps 1492 and see if that makes a difference.

    Thank you

  • Linking only to 10 Mbps Gigabit network connection

    T61 765 - C29

    Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection

With wired ethernet connection the unit should only connect at 10Mbps (according to my Linksys hub).  Even my old T41 (as well as all the other PC on my network and the hub, including using the same port), connected to 100 b/s!

I looked at the device settings and it came with "autodetect" to "link speed & duplex.  I tried to substitute and set it to 100 Mbps, but then it would not be to 'talk' to everything, even after a reboot.  The driver version is 9.7.251.0.

So for now I use my connection (54Mbps) wireless.

Any ideas on how get the 100 Mbit/s active / work?

    Jon

Check your Ethernet cable for continutity on all eight wires.

Gigabit Ethernet requires all drivers 8 to be continuous between the two ends, otherwise the Ethernet connection at both ends will automatically return to a lower speed.

    See you soon,.

  • VM 2 or more share a WAN connection

    Hi all

Excuse me move if this is the wrong place for this post, etc...  Relatively new to ESXi and I don't know if I want to do is possible.  I have a Server with 4 GB Supermicro intel NIC.  I have one of these NICs connected to my internet provider (WAN) and the other for the HP ProCurve (LAN).  I'm testing different solutions UTM/Firewall (pfSense, Sophos UTM, etc.) and would like to have at least two of them operational at the same time.  The problem is that if it gets turned on first gets a WAN IP and take "control" of the WAN connection.  Whatever it is started after the first primer fine but the WAN interface will not obtain an IP address and be down.

Some thoughts that I had were perhaps to be the gateway to the virtual computer to imitate the same MAC address, I found a few posts that seem to indicate that Comcast modem binds to the MAC for something like this the first connects to.  Has begun research on this so I do not know how 'true' which is, or even if it is if it would help me get to where I want to be.  I hope that he stays the way to achieve this using vnetworking ESXi.

In any case thank you for your time and I really appreciate any help you can provide!

Having your machines virtual theft same mac will be chaos in the networking and a damaged arp table. The problem here is that your internet service provider provide only one device with an IP address. How to solve this problem is to have a router/firewall VM that is the only internet available VM and then have the other virtual machines behind it and use the port forwarding.

Another solution is to use a loadbalancer as Kemp, where you can use expedition based URLS and so on. In short, do NOT spoof mac address, it will just make chaos.

  • WAN connection between security and connection of servers?

    Hi all

one of our clients wants to place its servers view Horizon 5.2 security in remote data centers and servers to connect in their headquarters. They have two DMZ environments to hosting provider data centers and they want to fill it with 2 security servers each for redundancy. I have currently no accurate information on the speed and latency (and packet loss). I know that connection servers sharing the same ADLDS need connection to the LAN due to replication requirements strict, but what security servers?

Can I put my security servers in a region far away and have them matched (and PCoIP routed by gateway) with servers to connect to Headquarters via a WAN connection?

    Kind regards

    Jacques.

That's fine, as long as they have properly configured firewall rules, but I have to ask: what are they hoping to win this configuration - is-to-end latency lower and upper for remote users of the local data center and then goes on the link of the site, instead of going on the internet directly to the headquarters of the bandwidth?

  • E4200: no WAN access, can't Flash firmware

    Hey all,.

I got my E4200v1 by yesterday and the installation was easy enough... Apart from two problems:

    1. He's not through an internet connection. I use a de Vigor120 ADSL2 modem that connects to the internet just fine. When I plug in the router and a wired / wireless, I can't access the web.

Then, I put the modem to use the router as my DMZ. The E4200 correctly displays my WAN IP in State and gateway/DNS to my ISP servers. Still no internet access.

I am sure this should work (or the router is broken)... Please advise!

02:02 hours of head, tremors, I tried to update the firmware of the router. 1.0.04)is will fail as soon as it downloads. The DD - WRT build from the wiki page fails as soon as it downloads. I always do a 30/30/30 reset before each.

Any ideas? I'm at the limit of my understanding and experience. The next thing this router is returned... Something I've never had to do before! (Also, I bought in Australia if it makes a difference).

    Thanks for any input

    mafro

Edit: I'm working on the assumption that 'v1.0.02' on the admin of my router shows my router really * is * a E4200v1.

Just in case anyone else has this problem - I have just flashed with build 18777 BrainSlayer's DD - WRT wiki (Google it).

Everything works now. It's a real shame for a large part of the cost of this router is so obviously lost in the software.

I would recommend to anyone who knows what they are actually doing to purchase Draytek. Loads of features, no frills, it works.

    Good night

  • Use WAN connected airport Time Capsule as a wireless access point

I had to replace a failed 4 Gen Time Capsule. I tried to install a new Gen 5 airport TimeCapsule via WAN and set up the airport to act as a wireless access point. It is installed in an area of my house with wireless coverage. In the network of AirPort Utility Mode section, I chose "extend a wireless network. The TC is restarted, I get an error message cannot find the intended wireless network.

    What I lack?

"Extend a wireless network" is a parameter that is only used if the time Capsule need to connect to another router from Apple with the help of a Wi-Fi connection.

You use Ethernet to connect, you must use the parameter to "create a wireless network. Use the same wireless network name and the same password as your "primary" router

  • Wireless router Linksys Cisco's E4200 will not connect to Qnap TS - 212 turbo NAS

My Qnap turbo NAS TS - 212 does not work in my home network.

The NAS is connected to a Cisco Linksys E4200 (Gbit port) wireless router and I have a Windows7 PC connected to the router as well.

I can connect to the NAS during init/config (the first minutes before a long beep) but after the bee long SIN disappears from the network. The QNAP Finder can't find the SIN and I cannot ping the NAS server.

What can be the reason causing this loss of connection into the router?

The NAS works when I use a wireless older router SITECOM 54 g router.

Do I need a special in the router config please NAS Qnap TS-212?

you get a light for the ethernet port you have the NAS connected to? the ethernet connection can be registered not that could be the reason why the SIN is not detectable.

you have the NAS set to an ip address static or is it to dhcp? If the dhcp, check the table of the router DHCP clients to verify if the NAS is networked and assign an IP address. you have reset your NAS? You may need to do. also, on the side of the router firmware may need to be updated to fix bugs that the current version could have. Go to the Page of Support E4200 to the latest vesion. You can also check for the latest firmware for your SIN.

  • E4200 Lan LAN connection - how to access the router

Just bought the E4200 (for a home network) and have implemented as a Lan - Lan connection success. My Siemens Spreadstream DSL modem 6520 provided by Bell Aliant (is a wireless router / and is used as DHCP).  On the E4200 as per instruction changed the IP of E4200 address to 192.168.1.2, turned off the DHCP and NAT set to disabled. The E4200 is linked directly from the SpeedStream ethernet port to ports numbered on E4200 (not the internet port). The SpreedStream also feeds a Linksys switch with 16 ports (SD216).  When I connect a laptop through the new E4200 wirelesss network, I am able to see the rest of my network fine.

When I connect a PC with the CISCO software installed to one of the ports E4200 software cannot access router of the E4200. I type 198.168.1.2 as a web address, but cannot connect. My question is, after all, the background information is... How can I access my new router E4200 to make changes with my lan - lan configuration. I want to be able to add an external drive USD to USB port of the E4200 years set up the account of wireless of comments.

    Kind regards

Change the address LAN IP of the E4200 to 192.168.2.2. Except, however, if 192.168.2.2 is part of the Siemens server DHCP address pool. Check which addresses IP Siemens allows to assign by using DHCP. The E4200 address must not be included.

If you have the latest firmware installed your E4200 takes the bridge mode. In bridge mode, you can use the E4200 as access point connecting with the internet port for your Siemens. This way you can also use network comments and other features that will not or do not fully work with the configuration that you have right now...

  • E4200 N customers connect to half speed

I just set up my E4200 and none of my N wireless clients connect at full speed. Regardless of what I use the wireless settings they seem to everyone to connect at a speed nearly half. My laptop insists on connecting to 144.4 Mbit/s, for example to support 300 Mbps. periodically it will connect at 300Mbps, but next time the I reconnect or I make a settings change on the router (regardless of the change), the speed falls to 144.4. Clients that support 150Mbps connect a coherent 65Mbps.

I am running FW 1.0.02, although the problem exists with 1.0.01 (I hard reset before and after the upgrade) and I tried to re - flashes the 1.0.02 firmware.

Any combination of channel type, width, mode and security etc. does not seem to affect performance. No distance (customer above is 3 ft of the router).

My previous router was located exactly at the same place as the E4200 and I got a solid connection at full speed throughout the House.

Would have someone seen seen something like this?

    Thank you.

The E4200 is probably channel bonding (40 mhz channel width) periodically due to interference. Look at my reply in this thread: http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/E2000-max-wireless-n-speed-72-Mbps/td-p/450035 to confirm this, look at the status tab wireless to the router and see if it displays 40 mhz or not. In this case you should see link rate approaching 300. If it isn't then you will get link rates approximately 144 and 65 according to broadcast how your wifi adapter is compatible.

  • Problems of WAN connection after a clean install of Vista

Since I had my computer wiped out I can't connect to my router wirelessly. is it possible to reformat my WAN settings or anything like that to be able to connect again? right now it says everything is ok but when I unplug the ethernet cable it disconnects me.

I suggest that you remove all the connections your computer wireless (after writing on the correct settings if those here is actually good) and start again from zero setting of the wireless connection and network connections as well.

If this does not work, then I call your provider access and explan the situation and ask for their help.  I did it myself several times and they have been very helpful and usually solved the problem (unless it was something on their servers, or on the actual line).  Ask them to walk you step by step in the installation process (seting another account if that makes things easier) and see if you missed a step somewhere.  Ask them to test your modem for problems remotely.

There may be a problem with the wireless card drivers. Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you should do sp RPF bore; ess card amd the router if it is delivered with at least, and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

How your computer was wiped out?  Was it a power surge?  There may be damage to some of the features (like the wireless card) caused by the same incident, but not detected so far.  If you have a spare wireless card or that you can borrow one, then we could test if the card itself is the problem by reversing the it between computers.

You have other computers connected to the router or the wireless device and do they work?  Perhaps someone with a wireless laptop can drop by for a visit and see if this computer can connect wireless - then we can suspect the router or wireless device.  Do you know how to to access the settings of the wireless device or router to your PC - contact the manufacturer to see if there is a way and then check the settings.

I hope this helps.  Keep me posted.

    Good luck!
