EA4500 and OpenDNS

Hi all

I tried for 30 minutes or so to get my OpenDNS settings in my EA4500 but I can't find options for DNS on the Cisco Connect Cloud Firmware v2.1.38.138880 entries. I use PPPoE for my ADSL settings to work, anyone can help me can where I insert these DNS settings?

If you configure the firmware of cloud for the first time, just fill in the basics and save.  Then, you will need to connect to the firmware main cloud using your cloud user name and password.   www.ciscoconnectcloud.com

Then go to connectivity.  Then click the LAN tab.  Then enter your static dns on the right side of the screen.

You cannot change the dns from an iphone or android app.  You must be on a computer.

  • Protection against viruses, need both ClamXav and opendns?

Recently, I got a Trojan virus on my MacBook Pro stupidly opening an attachment of Google Docs sent to me by e-mail.  I changed the password, the deleted e-mail created by the virus filter and changed the dns to opendns.  Now I'm running ClamXav for a good scan.  I see an offer to purchase opendns on an annual basis.  Is it recommended to buy the two ClamXav and opendns?  What are different and they compliment each other?

You shouldn't have to be.  Generally running a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac will identify these problems and allow you to eliminate them.

    https://www.Malwarebytes.org/antimalware/Mac/

It does not run in the background, so it will not have any impact on the negative performance on your Mac.

In addition, it is often recommended by the phone Apple support technicians and the genius bar.

    Ciao.

  • EA4500 and OJ8600 of HP printer router interface questions all in one.

Hello I am running IE11, WIN8.1, 1 TB HD, 12 GB of memory with EA4500 router from Linksys connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable.  The computer is a Lenovo desktop (K430). I ran a test installation of HP troubleshooting on the interface between the computer and EA4500.  I opened my Linksys Smart Wi - FI to perform the following two tasks. The HP Installation troubleshoot suggested I should put MAC address filtering to off I did without any problems. Installation troubleshooting HP also suggested I have find the MAC address of my printer and add it to my list of devices that are allowed to access my networh. How can I do this? Thank you.

You should make a print from the printer setup page and who should detail you information on MAC and IP addressing. I recommend not to use Mac filtering because it is not necessary. I recommend that you configure a static IP address ON the printer, 192.168.1.86, that should be the default value of routers outside main pool DHCP de.100 thru.199. You will need to refer with the Lim and information on how to establish networks and set up the printer. Consult the user manual as well.

  • EA4500 and PS3 abandons the connection

I had a router WRT54G2 and started having trouble with my PS3.  It would connect for a few minutes then she would lose the internet connection.  I thought that maybe it was the router so I have now from the EA4500.  The same problem occurs again.  I have all my other devices wireless connected to the EA4500 without any problems.  The PS3 will connect and connect and then two or three minutes, I get disconnected.  I called Sony and Cisco to help and they were not able to understand the problem.  The PS3 is showing that my network has almost 100% signal strength, so this isn't a problem.  If anyone has experienced this or can help, I would be very grateful!  Thank you.

    @2shibas

    Hello

Is this connected by cable or wireless your PS3? Have some port numbers for Sony, so you can do Port Forwarding on the user interface of the router? If this is not the case, try to contact Sony and ask for the ports necessary for the opening of your PS3.

  • EA4500 and heavy loading performance wireless

    Hi all

I'm backup of massive amounts of data in the cloud. Whenever I do, on my EA4500 wireless performance seems to deteriorate up to half of its flow. I am using the 2.4 GHz band. No idea why?

    Thank you

There is a known issue with the accuracy of detection of bandwidth Qos.

I just disabled it (prioritization qos/media)

There is a solution by manually adjusting and puff up your bandwidth (links to it and double it)

They just fixed the E4200v1 a few days ago with an update of the firmware. I hope that we will see a (soon).

I don't know how good workaround is, because I don't want to care about her or with her antics.

You can also try to disable WMM and see if that helps. They also fixed a problem with E4200v1 WMM (I think).

  • Cisco Connect and OpenDNS

I've been using OpenDNS for a long time, and I just got the Linksys E3000. When I tried to change the settings to add OpenDNS, he said that some changes can cause the software Cisco Connect does not want to work more.

If I change the static DNS 1 and 2 (https://store.opendns.com/setup/device/linksys) I'll still be able to use all functions in the Cisco Connect software?

Yes, you will be. If you manually enter the static DNS 1 and 2 on your router you will always be able to use the Cisco Connect software. But if you change the name of the wireless network security key or password router manually, then you will not be able to use the Cisco Connect software.

Routers Linksys compatible WDS. However, there is no option to enable or disable the WDS on them because it's already pre activated.

  • EA4500: Full reset/clear/clean all applications and references of cloud

I'm back my EA4500 and would like to know how to clear the router and remove all access of the Cloud. I have install the 'cloud' all in troubleshhooting a question and I now want to erase this and everything related to the router of my systems.

Note: Due to the 'Cloud' I want to be sure that everything is removed , and Cisco is completely out of my network. Ugh - what I thought when I installed it?

A reset will erase the current settings you have on the router. And then you can disconnect it from the current network you physically. About cloud or what they now call Linksys Smart Wi - fi, it's via the internet while the account will still be there. I don't know if there is an option that you cancel it. It only means that you simply do not access the account more.

  • How can I remove OpenDNS? I don't remember installing this.

I opened some Web pages and OpenDNS blocks

Do you have an example url for further investigation?
Your dns settings can be changed on your computer.

  • Homepage EA4500

I use my modem verizon for a while now because they threaten you with support of charge fees if you don't. Last night after I got tired of their miserable portforwarding I dug my EA4500 and closed the connection. I just installed everything, but when I go to the router page an empty warning with only an 'out' x and minimize the option at the top. When I click on one or the other, the page is always grayed out, I guess it is supposed to be a thing 'accept conditions', but it's just blank. Anyone know how to fix or work around to access the homepage?

This is a screenshot of my router page (I removed the IP address)

  • Degradation of package with EA4500

    Hi all

I'm a noob here. But I have a problem with my router and I don't know where else to go. I'm fill my method for the Linksys EA4500 router, and it gives me only to 8MBps while the line speed 14MBps. I tried to connect it directly to the method by disabling the EA4500 and I'm 14MBps. Can someone tell me what is happening or a way to increase my speed?

    Kind regards

    Sujith

You have DSL?  What is the brand and model of your modem/router method?

If you have ADSL and you put your ADSL modem in bridge mode and the linksys is configured for PPPoE, then you probably need to change the mtu.

Even if it isn't your Setup, I always check the mtu and see if it is correct.  In addition, you must update the firmware of the EA4500 (if necessary)... and reset to the factory settings and reconfigure.

  • EA4500 + ADSL router: networking noob question

Then... I'm not sure of the right words to use, but this is the case I would appreciate the help. I tried to figure out how to survive myself, but I find it a little confusing - however, if you think I just need a networking 101 do not hesitate to send me to appropriate information sources (I've tried a few, as I say, but I have not yet found a place where my situation fits!).

Quick back story: I have a cheap TalkTalk ADSl router (D-Link 3680) where the Wireless does not properly in the House. So I just got a DSL EA4500 router for better strength/speed/compliance wireless - you'll just have to forgive me for not having an ADSL router, which I realize may have been a simpler solution!

First of all, I put the (D-Link of TalkTalk 3680) ADSL router in Bridge mode and got this and the EA4500 work together which was great as it goes. However, I would be hard...

I have a tower PC and wish to receive wired ethernet network. While I know in the set - up above I can run a cable from the 3680 to the EA4500 and then another cable to the PC because the PC is closer to the telephone (with the ADSL router) Jack, physically it seems wiser, if I take the PC of the 3680 ethernet connection (along with a second cable 3680 to EA4500 connection for the wireless). It may or may not be relevant that the 3680 is a Fast Ethernet output, as is the network PC card (i.e. are not Gigabit).

I don't know (a) whether the above configuration is possible and if yes, how, or (b) the question whether in terms of networking, it is best to cable to the EA4500 computer (even if this will create a longer path to the PC and the wiring more).

Meaning, and if yes maybe someone could give me also a term for what I'm doing?

    Help gratefully received! Garreth

3680 port LAN (bridge) => EA4500 Port WAN (router)-online PC peripherals and wireless

It's the best configuration and nothing should be connected to the 3680 other than the EA4500.

The physical location of the electronics is not important, unless you can not run cable or wireless signal is low.

  • New EA4500 router slow?

Just bought a new router EA4500 and expecting to have better performance (speed/signal strength) than my old router Cisco/Linksys E2500, but it is significantly slower than my old router. How can I raise the router by changing some aspects of it (like changing the channel). I can't find the Linksys router configuration page, as he brings me just to "Smart Wifi" Linksys Page which leaves me not any adjustment of real progress. How can I improve my performance of routers / access the page to change it?

Hi Harp17. You can always change the settings of your EA4500 manually wireless. Access the right page the 192.168.1.1 and once you are on the page SmartWifi, click Wireless on the left side of the page. Click "Edit" under the 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz, regardless of the band you want to edit on. You can also try to change the name of the wireless network and wireless to see how it goes.

    Hope the above helps.

  • EA4500 problem?

I just got an EA4500 and I really like it. I got set up with my printer, tested a few things and everything works perfectly fine. The problem I have now is that when I plug in the USB flash drive I don't know how to access. For some reason when I go into the settings under storage USB he says «There is no drive in the USB Port» He tells me to click Refresh, but this doesn't seem to help. Anyone know what I'm missing here? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I use the version of the firmware 2.1.39.145204

Test if the USB is detected when plugged into your computer. Try disconnecting and then re - connect the router. You can consult this list, too, just in case: tested HDD and printers for the EA4500.

  • EA4500 Windows 7 can not index the files so not seen by Windows Media Player

I install a drive on the USB port of the EA4500 and 4 files.  A music course.  I want to access this folder through my laptop wireless with Windows Media Player, but I don't get a handle on disk + 3000 songs.  A PC cable can access files, but not a wireless laptop.  I don't know where is the problem.  If I use the reader via //host/Music the star ratings are not available, but I get all the music, if I map a drive can I get star rating but only a handful of songs.  I tried to change the permission, but I can't change the permissions of the file on the Linksys.

You should be able to change the permissions on the page of the router. Using the classic Firmware or the Linksys Smart Wifi? If you use the firmware Linksys Wifi Smart, it is under the USB storage device > access to records. If you use the classic Firmware, it's under storage > Administration. The laptop should be able to see all the files just like the office.
