Error in msvcrt.dll, rename it now error c000021a.

I had problems with the msvcrt.dll in windows XP. So I've followed the steps to rename the file but got an error (access denied) by, and now I'm in the reboot cycle, then the blue screen with the error code c000021a.

I did a HinesbootCD but I can't seem to load.

Help, please. (I use the laptop with Vista of this post)

Hello

·        Why have you tried to rename the .dll file?

·        You're able to boot in safe mode?

Method 1:

I suggest to start the recovery console, rename the file and check if you're able to boot.

Once connected, I was getting an error in msvcrt.dll so I downloaded the latest version of microsoft.com and installed. After restarting my computer, I get today a fatal error and restart the computer. I saved a backup of my old msvcrt.dll file, but I can't restore. Boot in safe mode does not work.

I'm afraid I have to reformat but I don't want to lose all my files, if there is anything that I'm missing, it will be very appreciated.

You will have to start on something.

If you have a CD/DVD drive. Are you doing a Hiren boot CD and use the XP Mini environment for basic file manipulation and of many other useful tools for these emergencies.

The latest Hiren's version is 11.0 at the bottom of this page:

    http://www.hirensbootcd.NET/

Once started on the CD, XP Mini environment looks like and feels like XP, so you'll be comfortable with his familiarity and can replace the file with your copy.

Then you can fix everything that's really your problem of msvcrt.dll.

OK, I finally managed to finish the installation of the software and the driver for the printer HP B9180 Photosmart Pro.

For the possible benefit of future readers with similar problems, here are the steps I followed to resolve what turned out be a sequence of three problems probably not related.

    1. as stated above, the installation first stopped early in the process, due to the presence of Internet Explorer IE8 Beta 2, which I uninstalled it, then reinstalled IE7.

    2. now install only stopped at half-way, an "unexpected error", no additional information, but, fortunately, the installation process has survived enough to back ('uninstall') all the measures taken until.  This new problerm was healed (I guess) by chance, because during this time, I decided to do a process long chkdsk C:/r/v, and I saw the check disk program spend quite a few while on a certain files, reports, quite a few errors. Probably uninstall it IE8 and repetition hangs the installer HP left of the junk on the hard drive.

    3. now Setup progressed all the way to a network printer search; There, the program "seen" the B9180 printer, but then "failed to install" the printer. This third issue is resolved through a search of HP site, where exactly the same problem with Vista 64, and the tenacious owner discovered a parameter minor of the ESET NOD32 antivirus ('disable HTTP checking'), who was apparently through the installation process in exactly in the same way that the mine - and his solution worked for me also.

Thanks to HP for setting up this forum of the community, and thanks to the previous problems whose kindness to make account of their problems and their solutions helped me solve mine.

Something to check is to make sure that the distribution kit does not include the Windows system files in the distribution of PC development kit.  She can do if you have libraries in your project from the kit of development Windows or DDK (as ShFolder.lib).  In this case the end generally install and run software on a computer running the same version of Windows as the development machine, but all kinds of problems occur when you try to install on another version.

  • Renamed project now references TOC subjects as if they were subject external

I just followed the instructions in the RH X 5 for the help file of Word on the projects of change of name. This set of directions several times worked for me for years, without incident and without flaw. (These data are very similar to what I found here.)

I just copied and renamed an entire project on a new logical drive, which is something I've done successfully in the past. I used the same direction, and now in my new project I see all my references TOC showing as if they are referring to external subjects. If I drag a theme again in my table of contents in the right pane, it displays the way I expected (NOT as an external subject, but as a normal subject). When I opened my *. File of the CNT in Notepad to read and compare the two entries of table of contents, who appears as a normal subject makes reference to my old name of project by a statement @oldprojectname.hlp . It's back! And why it is happening this way at all?

VERY more a strange thing: my newprojectname.hlp is included in the project > addictions > external help files. Why in the world would be my newprojectname.hlp considered an external help file? It is supposed to be THE main help file in my newly renamed project.

I used Notepad to search any reference in my *. HPJ file to my oldprojectname and/or any use of the old logical drive letter. Nothing corresponds to this research.

I tried to close my new project, rename all the *. HPT files so that HR think they have been deleted and then reopening my new project. Curiously, the file newly created by HR is named oldprojectname. HPT. I expected to see it named NomProjetName. HPT.

I'm completely stumped. Thanks to who can help me solve this problem! I need to make my new project have no links with the old project.

Problem solved - an update: I went to the Customer Support Portal and contact Adobe Technical Support about this problem. A Technical Support Engineer Senior said Adobe.

"About your concern, I understand that after renamed it your project, your TOC references are appearing as referring to [sic]. external subjects. According to your post on the forums, it seems that there is something missing with the steps to rename the project. "To further isolate the problem, try to copy your original project to a different location on your local computer and try and follow the same instruction [sic] on the following technical note:

    Rename and move a project
    http://www.Adobe.com/go/rb_1866

I was curious to see what could be the differences between the instructions to rename projects in the above TechNote and the same instructions in the help file for RH X 5, I compared the two, step by step. The instructions were essentially the same, with the exception of a typing error that has been fixed in the latest instructions in the TechNote.

However, there were some shortcomings with the instructions in the TechNote above. I copied the TechNote, corrected and managed to rename my RH X 5 for Word project with success. My renamed project reference is no longer my subjects as if they were external. Everything is now as it should. I included the corrected instructions here for later use.

Here are the corrected instructions to rename a RH X 5 for Word project:

To rename a project to help:
    1. close the help project and leave RoboHelp.
    2. open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder that contains the help project.

  • Save the HPR, but open Notepad.
7 change oldprojectname. HPJ in Notepad:
  • Open the HPJ file in Notepad.
  • Under the [FILES] section, rename oldprojectname. RTF to NomProjetName. RTF. (For example, CATZ. RTF would become CATS. (RTF).

o the search menu, select replace.
o search, enter @oldprojectname. HLP. (For example: @CATZ.) (HLP)
o in replace with, enter @newprojectname. HLP. (For example: @CATS.) (HLP)
o use next or replace all to replace all occurrences of the statement.
  • Find and fix all the other instances of oldprojectname while they are all renamed to be NomProjetName.
  • If you rename your project in order to put it on another logical drive, find and fix all instances of the old name of logical drive so that they are all renamed to be the new name for logical drive. This works best when looking for :- (colon backslash).
  • Save the file of the CNT and exit Notepad.
    9. open the newly renamed in RoboHelp help project.
    10. check the project title that appears on the title bar main Help window:
  • On the file menu of the RoboHelp Explorer, select project settings.
  • Click the project tab.
  • As part of the project, rename the title, if you wish. (When you created the project, you entered in this field.) The title in this field is displayed if you have not one. CNT file.)

I completely formatted my hard drive on my dell 420 xps system. I can't access my partion of course and now my computer has problems. any ideas?

How you format the hard drive (usng what process and what type of program)?  You format ALL partitions?  If the entire disk is formatted there is none left to access - they are all formatted (but you should always be able to re - install the operating system.

What are you trying to do at this point?  Are you trying to re - install Vista?  You have an Installation of Vista genuine disc or the manufacturer's recovery disc?  If you use a recovery disk, you must discuss the process of recovery with the manufacturer, as we have access to this information or know the process or know what is on the disk.  I don't know that Dell will be willing to help you.

If it is a disk of Vista Windows genuine, just insert it in the drive and start it.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  Then follow the instructions to install the operating system as a clean install.  Do a clean install follow these steps: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_install_03.asp (taking into account the necessary adaptations by the procedures of the manufacturer of your computer).  Then you will need to re - install all your programs, reset all preferences, reconfigure your network settings and e-mail, restore your backup of the data, run Windows Update with possibly close to 100 updates pending...  The installation process should ask you to format the disk and create partitions if you want.

If you are unable to do, post back with the text OF any error message you receive.

    I hope this helps.
