Error MD3220i MPIO

I have a virtual data center consisting of two windows server 2012R2 hyper-v hosts Manager connected to a MD3220i of basic failover cluster running.

Everything looks good, except on a single host, I get the following error from MPIO in the windows event logs:

Event ID: 32

Reference Dell MD series Module specific to the device for Multi-Path does not have a pathway back to \Device\MPIODisk0.

These events come in several times a day, and they occur for all 3 disks in the system.

MDSM reports no errors

All paths are available in iscsicpl.

Apart from this error, everything looks good.  I have about 10 Vm running on the SAN, clustering with failover and migration to run without problem.  I am ready to put the system into production, but I would like to know why I'm getting this error before to do so be sure that there are no underlying problems.  I did find something specific to the error online, so I thought I would ask here.  If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thank you

Hey, Madendever.

I should have said from the very beginning. It is best to uninstall completely, (it might even be a good idea to go in the programs directory and delete its files and leftovers from the previous installation) style 'old school') and re-install the application. I saw it several times where something click until it's done.

Also, I would be sure that you use the most recent iso for MDSM.

I know it sounds like a 'nit - pic', but I have seen too many times to not judged.

If this is not yet it solves, let me know.

  • MD3200i with 2012 multipathing not correctly

    Hello

I had a MD3200i as the CSV storage for a cluster of data center 2012 running on 4 network cards between the host and a switch to two controllers. I updated the firmware and used the latest DVD for installation in 2012.

When I did the installation I used the button "Recommended" to create sessions and connections. Everything seemed to go well in the tests.

However, now the system is power on I see that traffic is not balanced on the NICs, but simply all come from a NIC to the extent where this NIC 1 used 560MBps for 30 minutes without other network cards get about 30 kbps.

Is there something I need to do to enable Multipath? Or have I misunderstood what it is supposed to do? It's just for a failover, rather than load balancing?

    Thanks and greetings

    Andrew Smith.

  • PowerVault MD3220i error (insufficient ability to backup device Cache)

    Hi all

I appreciate your time and assistance with the following question.

I recently upgraded to the latest firmware on my HP MD3220i and installed the corresponding update of the NVRAM.

After you install the update, I get the following error in MDSM.  I checked the cache backup capacity and the total used the two related 1 680 MB.

Is there a reason that the error occurs and what is the best approach to fix this problem?

I checked the forums but don't see anything specific in addition to replace the module or the upgrade of cache memory.  Otherwise, the device works without problem, but like most of you, I hate this clear amber flashing in a data center perfectly Blue :)

    Thank you!
    Omar

Ability of the insufficient Cache backup device

    Hello, Omar.

This error has been research. In all cases this error is visible by our technicians of telephone, the RAID controller is replaced.

After talking to some experienced engineers, I would recommend replacing this controller.

This error can occur either bad shutting down the table leading to a corruption of the meta-database backup, or the stick (a small SD card) cache could be dethroned.

You * can * try to remove the controller, wait that the "power run" for draining, reinstall the cache memory card and then put it back in the slot. Who can clear this error, but no promises. However, we do not replace the cache card herein. The only thing that replace us inside the controller's battery.

I hope that helps you out. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • MPIO iSCSI error

I downloaded and installed vSphere 4 and found a tutorial on the configuration of MPIO.  I encountered an error when I try to add network cards to the swiscsi.

    esxcli swiscsi nic add - n vmk1 d vmhba35

    "Add Nic failed in IMA."

I followed the instructions to the following ADDRESS, and it seems that someone has experienced this problem.  We do not use the distributed switch again.  It's just a stand-alone host without vCenter again.

    http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2009/03/18/iSCSI-Multipathing-with-esxcliexploring-the-next-version-of-ESX/

Anyone run into this and found a solution?

I thank very you much for any help.

Move the 'other' NIC mode ensures unused. That should do it. You'll failover anyway since you have more than one path.

  • Ping on MD3220i error

    Hello

I'm trying to set up a unit of SAN MD3220i.

I use IP addresses by default for each port iSCSI on controller 0 and 1 controller.

I installed my host (Hyper-V Server 2008 R2) and I use 2 network cards for SAN traffic on this host, the IP addresses that I've assigned are 192.168.130.3 (255.255.254.0) and 192.168.132.3 (255.255.254.0)

Each NETWORK adapter is connected via a separate to the San switch.

When I ping to each of the 4 SAN ip addresses, only 2 answer, these are 192.168.130.101 and 192.168.132.101.

Why the other two IPS (192.168.131.101 and 192.168.133.101) without responding to the ping request.

All on the ports of SAN subnet masks are 255.255.255.0

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Sam,

Sorry for the delay, I've tried a few things and was able to solve the problem.

The SAN comes with default subnet masks 255.255.255.0 on all iSCSI ports, but I put my NIC host having 255.255.254.0 subnet masks.

Once I changed to 255.255.254.0 SAN subnet masks I could ping all of the 4 ports on the host channel.

Thanks a lot for helping me with this problem.

If you have the serial cable or reset password cable as the manuals refer to it, you can remove the lock status. I know that this command works, but only if you are able to enter commands in the CLI by the serial port. If she will accept the orders, you will see a-> when you press on enter. The clear locking control is lemClearLockdown I believe. It can be so lemClearlockdown.

These controllers go in many States of lockdown too easy if you ask me... I fight 10 + MD32XX units right now. Although I can't enter commands in the CLI, it enters just text and does not recognize it as any kind of order. I hope that you are not as lost as mine, I've got one under warranty, so I'm about to call Dell technical support. I'll post an update when I'm done crying.

    Good luck

  • Error Protocol in the package received from the initiator

I have a Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine connected to a PS of the Group (6210xs and 6000). I have 4 volumes iscsi LUNS for Windows data, two on the 6210 and two on the 6000. The vm is on the 6210. We have implemented the 6210 back towards the beginning of the year, and all volumes of data have been implemented with MPIO 5 or 6 months ago.

This morning, one of the 2 data on the 6210 disappeared. Windows Disk Mgmt did not show it online or offline, but the windows iscsi initiator showed as connected LUNs. I disconnected the lun and reconnected and immediately handed volume online and has been fully accessible. The monitor EQ had a message to info about the disconnect with "error Protocol in the package received from the initiator" at the end of the message. 2 seconds later, the logical unit number reconnected.

It sounds like a problem with the initiator of windows rather than a problem of EQ, but I thought I'd check here in any case. It is interesting that it happened only to 1 volume of 4. This volume has been connected since May with no problems until today, and I do not have no changes to configuration since May. Are both the vNIC multichannel vmxnet3 with all the same settings (jumbo frames enabled, unloading of the disabled, numbers for Rx rings, etc.)

Any ideas on all the settings should I check or change, especially with the network cards for?  I'll probably post this on technet, too.

    Thank you.

    Tim

    Hello

The problem with iSCSI optimization is that it keeps track of connections.  However, the table moves periodically as you have noticed, the connections.  The switch fw does not understand that.  With each stroke he follows the new session and retains the old.   The buffer allocated for it is rather low.  According to FW versions on the switches, this could be as little as 256 connections.  Over time, this buffer is overrun.  The older of the switch that made to block any new connection iSCSI on port 3260.   So turn it off is the best option.

Re: trunk. In general the ISCSI traffic is burst, so when you look at the history of the traffic it appears wrong, because he gets on average over time.  So, I would add at least two additional ports to be sure.

    Kind regards

    Don

  • Error of VSS volume controls with SUCCESS / ME

I finally had time to MPIO configuration for data NTFS on a Windows 2008 R2 vm to my EQ group, but I get an error 'VSS volume control is not accessible from this host'. I have the EQ, access policy VSS to IP to accept the whole subnet.  Notifications of EQUALIZER error includes "CHAP grpadmin authentication failed", but I'm only using the IP access, chapter not CHAP is optional, no? This is a subnet on the internal switches.  In addition, access to the Group PS, "Use Chap credentials for iscsi discovery" don't are not ticked.

In the view of host MPIO, connections iscsi displays "2 ok, 2 bad." I only have 2 network cards on this virtual machine.

Edit: Also, in the Group Access window, access to VDS/MVS has a green check mark.

    Hello

Probably that's because there's a CHAP ACL on the vss-control volume.  When the remote installation wizard to configure the table he asks you to create a name of user and password c.  He uses the ACL on the default vss control volume.

If you delete this ACL CHAP error will probably disappear.

    Kind regards

  • ESXi MPIO FC connection to storage

    Hi guys,.

How does Esxi meter MPIO for FC connection to the storage? If I have 2 HBA Esxi uses as well for balancing the connection to the storage or using only 1 hba as active and other as before to handle an error?

    Thanks in advance.

Use only 1 connection at a time (but it can, depending on the storage, switch between them).

  • MD3220i - install the drivers 'to host' on ESXi hosts

We bought a MD3220i to use as shared to our vmware datacenter storage.

I'm a little confused by the documentation...

She says that she needs to host software installed on each host that connects to the MD3220i and the software grouped: the driver agent and multiple paths to storage. And that any host servers that connect to the storage array need.

Without doubt, this also includes ESXi hosts?  If so - how do install on ESXi hosts?

Or I completely understood you something here...

    Advice would be appreciated,

    S.

You have no software special 'host' because all the parts needed is already bundled with vsphere ESX (i). The essential parts are to check if the right HOME is used and that configure you the initiator of swiscsi in the right way. In terms of vsphere4 you need some Voodoo (remote control) command line to use esxcli to bind the VMKs created together.

Reference Dell have a best practice on how to connect the md32x0i to vsphere which has been found at the momemt. The guide shows the ip network configuration and all the necessary parts in vsphere. Dell uses a subnet of grand for all ports of 2 controllers. If you are looking for in this forum you will also find configurations where a single subnets are used to place a port for each controller. The two works configuration but I do face "LUN is not on preferred path" errors from time to time during the use of the first installation.

If you call technical support Dell will send you the necessary guide but I do not know google can help as well. Its like for many other iscsi bays and rules applied (several VMKs, binding, etc.). If you can't find something I can dig in my Inbox if necessary.

    Edit:

OK... after a google search hard that I found the former guide who use a single subnet, but the guide describes the installation with different subnets. Then you should follow this path. Take a look at http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pvaul/en/md-family-deployment-guide.pdf

  • Uninstall software update Apple says error in seller contact package package unstaller

Try to get itunes working to make a backup of my faulty iphone before repair.

First-itunes does not start says error. I'm trying to fix it, who said success but same error when you try to start it.

Then uninstall completely worked. Then reinstall that seemed to be over except for a message "an older version of Apple software update already exists" then he went down and install itunes apparently had not been completed.

Then I try to remove the update from the apple software and executed by an error in the installation program - it says there is an error in the installation and contact the supplier of the installation package. Same error if I run the uninstall command line program.

Try to repair the Apple Software Update of programs & features Control Panel and then try to update iTunes again.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

The more information box has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with third-party software.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

Hi, I searched some forums and found this script below which I modified. It works great except for a single statement:

On the other hand, if a key USB Monte is not in the ignoredVolumes, runScript is set to 2 and copy the file I want it. What hurts? The way in which your external block If is currently based, the script can't do anything when this book is in the ignoredVolumes, it can not yet test the runScript value. Try something like this:

If the present book is in the ignoredVolumes then

    game runScript to 1

    on the other

if (the present book as text is not '. ') DS_Store') then

if there are alias (POSIX (' / Volumes / "& the present book) as text file ) then game runScript to 2

    end if

    end if

Of course, you need to remove a "end if' the end of the script.
