ESXi directly on the internet?

All,

First off I understand the need for firewalls and what not. There is a business need for it.

Does anyone put ESXi directly on the internet? What kind of exploits have been seen? When I say put live on the net, I also talk about management. Ive expressed my displeasure with that idea but I've been invited to explore more.

Thank you!

Ryan

Virtual NETWORK adapter on the public network is ok, if it's on different vSwitch management.

Is it possible toDownload directly from the Internet to the podcast Clip3 on the device directory. I have on my old Samsung mp3 player.

    Thanks in advance

Files on the Clip + can be seen under mode ID3 (such as the podcasts folder) or folder view.  They are not physically twice.

As to not see the files of clips on your computer:

When your player is connected to your computer using USB MSC (set under settings of the player), your computer only see files that had been moved to the drive when the drive is connected in MSC mode.  Similarly with regard to the MTP mode.  However, all the files appear and can be played on your player, under some USB mode setting.

A reason why some people prefer to set the USB Mode on their player to MSC or MTP: setting Auto, the Player tries to connect in MTP mode but then you will return in MSC mode if the connection of the MTP does not; as a result, you can have a mixture of MSC and MTP mode transferred the files to your drive, making some of them isn't visible on your computer without going to the other USB mode.

Because MSC mode is more universal (playing with a wide range of operating systems, including Linux and on Mac, and without the need for Windows Media Player on the computer), some people prefer MSC mode.  However, note that the DRM (digital rights management) files need MTP mode - they will not transfer enough (the DRM license will not transfer) in MSC mode.

  • Apears the symbol "#" in the direction of the internet in the browser

    Hello world

I don't know why, but when the request arrival load a symbol ' # ' appears in the direction of the internet in the browser, and I have no idea how to fix this.

Could someone help me please? Thank you

    Sebastian Toro

    Guys,

First of all it is not a problem, but characteristic. It is used for the management of the history. When the application load the browser url is added with "#" to designate it as the page root. Later, we can use setFragment BrowserManager method to set the url to something else (e.g. #page = reports). It is then used for the management of the back and button next to the browser. This feature is called DeepLinking. You can read about it in the Flex docs.

  • (Is ESXi security safe enough to rest directly on the internet?)

Basically, I want to run my network firewall & & security gateway on an ESXi box, but I wonder about the attack on potential security at the level of the BONE of ESXi, because I suspect that network traffic should go trough ESX then go first to my firewall (running in virtual machines).

The gateway must be defined like this: (internal network & Windows Server VM /on ESXi) - & gt;  (Firewalls VM /on ESXi) - & gt; ESXi OS - & gt; Internet

What are the vector of attack if we consider only ESXi and not virtual machines and is there a way to mitigate the risk, such as disabling all services of ESXi on the internet NIC?

In the past had this with esx security vulnerability?

    Thank you very much

You would not configure internet facing NICS to have something to do with the side ESX.  The console ESX PI would be an internal network on a separate vSwitch.  The NIC internet should also be on its own vSwitch so.  Traffic would go through the NETWORK adapter on the virtual machine via the vSwitch himself.  ESX will not affect the package, it will come to the firewall vm itself.  No esxi service will circulate this map NETWORK, so that shouldn't be a problem.  Just limit which this virtual machine has access to internal networks.

I'm trying to register for the HP ink cartridges.  The application calls a code to write on request.  However, the printer tells me that Web services are not enabled on my printer.  How can I connect a printer directly to the Internet.  I use a USB cable to connect the printer to my laptop.  Can someone help me so that I can complete the application of the ink?  Thank you!

    mcbrighde

    Hello @mcbrighde,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand you are trying to join the instant ink program, but need assistance in obtaining your printers code request. I would like to help.

In order to get the printers claim code, you will need to have the printer on a wireless network. An ethernet or LAN connection will also work. This will give the internet access to the printer so that the ink levels can be monitored.

You need not remove your USB connection for the printer on the wireless network.

The following link will help put your Officejet Pro 8600 on the wireless network.

HP OfficeJet printers - printer wireless (Windows) installation

Once the printer on the network, tap the icon of ePrint/Web Services to enable Web Services and acquire the printers claim code. The icon you are looking for is in the lower left corner of the screen printers.

You can also use the following link to view more detailed instructions.

If you need further assistance or have any other questions please let me know.

I'll be happy to help you.

  • Satellite Pro M70: How to connect to the internet using a second computer

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro M70 with a RTL8139/810 x Family Fast Ethernet NIC use this, the laptop was connected to a desktop PC, whereby it is connected to the internet via a modem ADSL (USB) on the desktop. The laptop runs XP Pro; the desktop has XP Home.

My laptop has been a nasty virus. When removing it, he lost the ability to network. I tried "repair network", but he could not find an IP address. In the end, I had to manually set an IP address for the network to work again. You use IPCONFIG release and renew the IP addresses that failed - unable to connect to the DHCP server.

He could now see the Office network and Exchange files across be it, but it could no longer contact internet.

I decided to reinstall the OS on the laptop, but this does not solve the problem. I still have to manually set the IP on the laptop. I can connect two PCs, but does not see the internet from the laptop on the network.

If I connect the laptop directly to the internet via the modem, it works fine. I can even access the internet from the computer on the network when this is the laptop that has the internet connection.

The virus could have damaged the Ethernet controller, or she affected somehow?

    Is it possible to test?

    Have you advice?

    Hello

The virus was detected on the laptop you so maybe your PC has also been affected.
Did you check if the laptop and the PC using the same workgroup?

    Hello

    I have a series of Satellite A200 - 1 M 4.
I tried to connect to a modem via an Ethernet cable. (usually when you connect to a desktop computer to a modem via an Ethernet cable directly detects the internet) I customized the network settings. When I watched the internet icon near the clock, I did not see that I globe on the icon internet thingy. He says only local. When I looked at the properties on the connection to the Local network, it SENDS only RECEIVES.

In our place, there is no connection or any kind of Wi - Fi wireless.

I'm having this problem for 3 weeks now and I'm not much more than one type of computer, and I have no where else to ask and I saw this forum.
Can you please help me with this problem? Or suggestions for Information would help him.
I'd appreciate really any kind of help.

    * Thank you *.

    Hello

Have you checked the TCP/IP settings for the network card?
I put t know if your modem/router supports DHCP support, then you should check if it s active or set a static IP address may be for some tests only!

And don t forget to turn off your firewall.

Normally, you should be able to connect successfully if you have set the right settings TCP/IP from the network card. Look in the user manual of the modem to find some information about it and what settings you need.

  • C4480 printer does not print on the internet

I hope I'm doing this right.  I tried searching for this problem.  I'm awfully lack of navigational skills.  And many computer skills, I'm afraid.

I have Windows Vista and just downloaded IE9, but the problem started when I was with IE8.  The upgrade did not help.

My printer is an all-in-one printer, model C4480.

It works with other computers very well.

He has a lot of ink work.

My problem arises when I am physically plugged into the printer and if I use a wireless connection. I use a laptop computer, if it's important.

If I print from a word processing document something, everything prints fine but I'm tired of cut and paste what I want to print.  When I try to print directly from the internet I have a line at the top (page 1 of 1, line type) and a line across the lower part (usually a (?) path to the location of a temporary file, I think) with nothing in between.  It is a blank page otherwise.

I feel that I can have left the information that anyone who is willing to help me may need.  I hope I did well.

I'm usually good following the clear instructions, as long as they are written so that someone who doesn't speak not "computer" can understand it.

If anyone can offer advice, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Angela

I can't thank you enough for trying to help me.  I did run this diagnostic utility you suggested and, naturally, it turned up without error.  I'll try another browser to see if it worked (although I do not want another browser), but then I had a thought.  So I decided to try my idea first, before installing a new browser.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software (I think it's the right word... the disc that came with the printer with drivers etc on it).  Guess what?  I can print on the internet even once.  I can't believe that none of us don't think of that earlier.  I still don't know why it crapped out, but it works now so I'm not too concerned about why.

Again, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my call.

  • My Dell coming 8 Pro Tablet cannot connect to the internet

After that the last update, my Tablet Windows couldn't access the internet. I get this message when I run a troubleshooting tool:

"The Dell Wireless 1538.802.11 a / ln g adapter knows pilot - or hardware-related problems."

    My tablet is our guarantee.

I contacted Dell support via my laptop and got absolutely nowhere, was mixed around until I finally got a page that asked me several times for my service ticket #.  Whenever I provided, he gave me the same screen, he demands again. A little surreal.

So here's what I know: my Tablet has no wi - fi connection. My tablet is plugged into my laptop, but my laptop does not recognize it as a drive. So I can't transfer anything directly from the internet on my Tablet through my laptop.

(They are both products of Dell. Family feud?)

So I need to find a way to get information on my Tablet without a direct connection and wi - fi, in which case the problem requires that.

Or it could just be a problem with Windows Update. A year ago, someone has answered a similar question on this forum and advised the questioner to find the numbered Windows updates installed Xxxx and Xxxx, then uninstall them. The numbers, of course, do not match updates that have been installed just before that my internet connection disappeared. So I would have no idea what to uninstall.

I would appreciate any advice on how to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Janice

In a general way, because your DV8P is a complete computer, you can just connect to your PC you could do with a smartphone (you may be able to do using a special cable).

To solve the problem of WiFi:

I had this problem and Dell technical assistance asked me to do a 'discharge' on the Tablet (apparently, static can accumulate in the Tablet, leading to the issue of WiFi).  Disconnect the power supply, if connected. Hold down the power button / stop of the Tablet and turn the Tablet completely off, continue to press and hold the power for 30 seconds (or maybe a minute); Let the only Tablet for 2 minutes; the Tablet is reactivated.  Which, we hope, will fix the problem (it was for me).

  • VSphere from VMware vCenter Server Web Access from the Internet

I tested VMware vSphere (ESX 4) and tried to connect to the internet for the Web Admin Access VM only.  I can connect the vCenter Server (on Windows) http Web Access features and manage the configuration of all virtual machines. But when I try to connect to an actual vm via MKS, I get an error MKS as ' unable to connect to the MKS: unable to connect to the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:902 server.»  The xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the ESX Server HOST and not the Server vCenter (which administers the host).   I have ports 80, 443, 902 and 903, on the firewall, open to point to the server vCenter Server.  When I'm on the LAN, I can do everything without a problem. Its only when I try to connect directly from the internet through our firewall I get the above error.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Andrej770,

vCenter Server transfers you to the ESX host hosting the virtual machine, and the remote console runs on port 902.

You want to go directly to the ESX host on port 902 through the firewall to connect to the Virtual Machine console.

You want to see the pages "Guide de Configuration ESX" 146 for more information.
