find, "with the cd on the bios boot < on apple PC with win xp.

Password lost on cp family.  We do not find the boot from cd on the biops. It's a PC with win xp apple

Hi haouatim,

There is nothing indicating 'Boot from cd' in the bios. You will need to arrange the priority of disc to create your CD / DVD Drive as the first boot device.

Leave the Windows XP cd in the drive and restart your computer. It will then display you the option «press any key to boot from CD...» ", and then you must press a key or the Enter key.

Reference: http://www.ehow.com/how_6196502_set-bios-boot-cd-vista.html

You will need to save your own installation of important data of the operating system that result formatting will destroy all your data from the partition of the said.

I hope this helps.

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

  • Add the entry to the Bios boot

I'm looking to restore the boot entry uefi but having problems to find in the bios

    https://www.Thomas-Krenn.com/en/wiki/Restoring_UEFI_boot_entry_via_motherboard_replacement_or_BIOS_u...

No idea how to do this on a Thinkpad P50?

The Bios Lenovo does not allow you to add a boot entry. This is necessary if you restore a hard drive using imaging software, without it, you are unable to start the system restore.

    Edit: included more details

The imaging program that I use is dd on linux. The dd command not the installer boot uefi entries.

I run currently 3 separate BONES on 3 discs (the joy of owning a P50). I managed to find a way to add entries of uefi boot in Windows. The program EasyUEFI (http://www.easyuefi.com/) works perfectly.

Hi - I recently updated day/flashed the BIOS of my T60 (2623-KFU) through windows by using the Setup files in the support section. I noticed the image of the characteristic changing BIOS boot and creates the Logo.Mod file that I have included in my BIOS flash. However, flashing it, I noticed that the Intel Logo (top-right) and the Lenovo Logo (right & Vertical) still exists and overlapped my custom image.

Is it possible to remove these logos so that I can have a clean design beautiful original appears at startup? I tried flashing back to nothing does not.

  • Portege R200 cannot set on the BIOS boot sequence

    Hi all.

Our R200 entered mode of hibernation after that the battery power is low, then by some unfortunate twist of fate, the battery got deleted accidentally. Now it does not start correctly because every time it displays a BSOD stating Unmountable_Boot_Volume.

I could solve this problem easily by disabling the hiberfil.sys file, which is the reason for the BSOD, if only I could change the boot order. Unfortunately, enter the BIOS, I am only able to access the first page where the only editable elements are time, date, and passwords. Pressing Pageup and Pagedn does nothing. The BIOS is updated to the last appearing on this site.

Pressing F12 or F2 when the toshiba logo and icons appear does nothing no more. It's a HARD disk 1.8 "and there are no adapters available in our region. I can boot from a CD if and only if I take the HD. But then, it is useless since I can't fix it like that. It is not recognized if I it reconnect after booting. When I reboot, it does the BSOD thing again. It is becoming a frustrating cycle.

I scoured these forums for other ways to boot from the CD and apply the suggestions, like hitting 'c', nothing helps.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Why cannot it not auto answer to the user's choice to start the Windows?

BTW, what does "Starting the internal network card" means?

    Please notify.

    Thank you

To see if you can boot from a USB key, you must go into your BIOS and look at the boot order.  If you see "USB stick" in the list, then you can probably - but it should be placed in the order before the drive hard to make it work.

If you want a boot disc/USB drive for repair purposes, I highly recommend the free Hirens Boot CD.  This CD comes with a bunch of diagnosis and repair integrated tools.  If you can't fix it with this CD, it cannot be fixed without having to reinstall Windows.  Of course, this is not Microsoft.

Don't be fooled by the fake download links.  The correct link is a file .zip downstairs in a light green rectangle with a drive icon.

  • No video of the bios boot

I have a dell OptiPlex 760 small for office of factor I used without problem for a few months but I can't view the video when the bios starts. the only video that he never showed was after Windows start start. I pulled the battery backup and put back into hope, it would clearly be the problem, but it didn't. I guess that I have to integrate some bios settings before windows starts now because when I hit the power button the fans and lights start as usual, but I can't do anything because there is absolutely no video output. If someone could help understand me how to solve this problem, it would be great, if not I'd be more then happy if someone could tell me how to start windows with the Virgin bios screen and I would use it as before.

    Let...

You know that the monitor is working properly? Can you test on another PC or test another monitor on this PC? You can also try a different video cable, or at least to plug the current video cable at the ends of the PC and monitor connectors?

When you have removed the battery, you reset the BIOS by default. The default value of the video output is AUTOMATICALLY, so it must be configured to use any video controller it finds. From what I can tell, the ULTRA-COMPACT model has not any PCI or PCI - e slots video controller only should be the integrated controller. If the monitor works elsewhere, this suggests that your motherboard may have failed.

If you start now, what happens if you simply press enter instead of F2?

What happens if you start from a bootable CD or DVD, for example your reinstallation of Windows Dell or Dell resource disk?

If none of this helps, you may need to replace the motherboard. Contact Support technique Dell if it is still under warranty.

Alternatively, you can consider trying a USB > VGA or USB > DVI converter. They are not cheap (but probably less than a motherboard) and I don't know if they will even solve your problem. They plug into a USB port and connect to a VGA or DVI port monitor. Obviously, you'll need one that does not require to install drivers or other software because you can't do it now...

  • Satellite M30: How disable the BIOS boot password?

    Hello

Before my vacation, I activated the startup password in the Bios. Now I want to turn this off, but it does not work. In the Bios, I can go to the Security tab, but I can't change the settings with the F5/F6 key or space. A beep is all I get. Entering on this point, I wonder to set a new password.

Anyone know how to disable the password for a Satellite M30? Please note that I have not forgotten my password, I can always start the machine.

    THX,

    Werner.

PS On this forum, I don't see any topic title, only the name of the authors. Is always normal? It is very convenient that way, but maybe it is related to my pc.

    Hello

I found a step by step explanation to clear a BIOS password:

"Turning on the computer from a State"off"with the ESC key. You are asked "password =". "

Enter the password, and then press ENTER. The unit will display: "the valid password is entered, the system starts up. Check the system. Press key (F1). »

Press the F1 key. This will start the device in the BIOS Setup mode.

Using the arrow keys or tab, move to the password field and select REGISTERED.

Press the SPACE bar, enter the password, and then press ENTER. For now, the password field is transformed into NON REGISTERED. »

    Hope this will help you.
    Good bye

The steps you have taken to solve the problem would lead me to believe that the motherboard no longer works correctly.

You observe a code flashes when you press the power button? a flashing red button would indicate systemboard failure.

    On-screen error messages?

You can try to recover the BIOS. Follow the procedures on this document from HP web compared to the version of the BIOS that has your PC. In case of recovery of the BIOS, then all should be well. If this isn't the case, then it is time to get a replacement PC. You can recover data from a hard drive on the computer when you install in another PC under Windows.

  • Hibernate mode overrides the settings of the BIOS boot

I put my Home Premium 64 k of win7 Hibernate version and inserted a bootable CD in the drive. To restart, I expected the boot CD. But what happened is that the machine is out of hibernation in Windows - just what I wanted to happen.

I thought that hibernation has written information in the system of Windows startup saying restore the system running from the hibernation file, that would happen after the start of the C: drive. The BIOS is set to give the priority of CD player on the hard drive and it works very well after a shut down Windows. So how the hell manages it to wake up from hibernation? And how can I stop it?

I know not what you ask.
Hibernate and wake-up process is part of the ACPI specification and uses the S4 power state.  I know that when the machine is re-fueled the BIOS performs the normal boot process, but exactly how he 'knows' is an interesting question.  I don't know if a flag is set in the CMOS when the S4 state is applied or it checks the hard disk of the existence of hiberfil.sys and the flags of the State has put out there.

    It could be explained here-

  • Dell XPS 8700 - failure of the keyboard when the bios boot (but not when Windows is loaded)

My Dell XPS 8700 has 10 Windows and a Logitech Keyboard wireless, connected by USB. The keyboard works absolutely fine when Windows has loaded. I have the latest version of the bios, A11.

However, when the computer is turned on and starts the bios start, it displays 'Keyboard Failure' on the screen for about half a second. When I try to go into the bios setup by pressing "F2" at the counter (I keep typing "F2" from the moment when I press the power button on the computer), there is no answer. The "keyboard failure" and inability to enter the bios setup seems to happen if I do a cold immediately after a stop start, a cold start after the computer is turned off for an extended period or a reboot.

I tried to connect the wired keyboard original Dell one of the USB ports on the front of the unit (without disconnecting the wireless keyboard) with the same problem at the start of the bios.

I encountered this problem on versions of bios A11 both A03. I know that in the past, although I don't remember when - I was able to enter the bios setup by pressing "F2".

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

You can try and reset the CMOS. It will return your settings to factory settings, but not the version. Usually, this erases these problems because CMOS stores data editable such as your wireless keyboard settings. BIOS stores the information about the basic material that is unchangable as your keyboard usb, mouse and other essential equipment. If you notice, when you just plugin any keyboard and mouse, its recognized at startup. Your needs software to run wireless device and that is stored in the CMOS.

So once reset you the CMOS, you may need to then install the wireless software.

    Good luck.

Hello 2whlgeezer, I have this exactly the same model system and have no problem see the screen Logo of HP where it displays options to access the BIOS and other boot options. I can press the F-10 and enter the BIOS.

Can advise you if you see something on the screen at all?

You can try by pressing e key F-10 immediately when the system boots, even if you can't see anything on the screen and see if it will enter the BIOS and display a picture on the screen.
