Could you launch Firefox in its Safe Mode and disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics. This circumvents incompatibilities with different graphics card drivers.

To start Firefox in Safe Mode, hold down the SHIFT key while starting Firefox.

In the small dialog box that should appear, click 'Start mode safe' (not Reset)

Hardware acceleration is automatically disabled in Mode without failure. To turn it off in normal mode, open:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

When you restart Firefox normally, this should take effect. Any improvement?

  • Now, Firefox crashes only all the time

Firefox has slowed to a crawl... taken advice on the support page to delete and rename the file "places.sqlite" in Manager files in Firefox. Now Firefox only crashes all the time. guess my decision to go back to the Explorer was made for me... can not solve the new versions of FIrefox crashes, slowness, errors... now only breaks down and the "places.sqlite. old"file I saved is gone now, so cannot yet go back to it...

Firefox does not work at all... ?

Sorry to hear about the accident. If you get the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox could have registered some data that would help to find the cause of the problem. You can submit these data to Mozilla and share with the volunteers of the forum to see if it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox blocks - ask for help" to get the procedure to get these crash report IDs since the topic: block the page and then after the most recent here.

Note: If Firefox is not stable enough to use the subject: page crashes, the article also describes how to check for submitted crash IDs disk report.

Also, and/or at the same time, could test you mode without failure of Firefox? Which temporarily disables extensions, hardware acceleration, and a few more advanced features of Firefox that could make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

We updated firefox to the latest version the week last in a small number of the PC in the office. After the upgrade, Firefox continues to fail at the launch. It's to the point where I downgraded to Firefox 7.0.1. Any time I try to publish or make any changes to a post using Blackboard, Firefox crashes. On several occasions. Sometimes so often that I can't close the tab problem before it crashes again. Best I can tell it is a problem with Java and FF8.

My firefox does not open. I have been using Firefox without problems for years until yesterday. I have a Mac OS X 10.10.3. Whenever I open Firefox, it immediately crashes or freezes. I have to go to my dock to "force quit" Firefox. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of Firefox 38.0.1 several times and no luck. I tried to start Firefox in "safe mode" and as soon as my default screen opens (Yahoo.com) and when I click on anything, whether it's freezing immediately again.

I'm not able to get Firefox open enough before it freezes to be able to go to 'preferences' to try to change or remove cookies or anything else.

Also, I had hundreds of bookmarks, when I get Firefox and running, is there a way to recover these bookmarks?

Is there another way to fix the FF on my main account on my computer instead of having to switch everything to another account?

You do not create another account on the computer. You're doing a
new user of Firefox with your own user account profile. Firefox may have
many profiles under the same user account.

I have used Firefox since the day I bought this computer. x 64 windows 7 never had a problem. Now it does not open. When I click the icon all that I get is the fault report screen. tried to open it in safe mode, it does the same thing. has run the troubleshooting and it has switched to xp service pack 1 compatibility. Not very computer savvy.

The file involved is wmjqnchd.dll as you can see in the list of the modules of the accident report.

Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) to see if that allows you to locate the file.

You can also try to scan the Windows registry for this file (Ctrl + F).
