Laptop does not start, the self-test of the disk gives error codes 03F1, 0303 and 0301, how do I get it back

Hello

Given the error code, it would look like your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

Kind regards

DP - K

  • G62 laptop don't boot-DST short failed

Hi, I have a 2 years, HP G62 - 407DX Notebook PC that will not be in service.  It doesn't have the start, lapping, sytem update and test drive with a short outage DST in each.  The error is QE07W4-5HK6GC-XDO141-60WQ03, hard disk 1.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?  Thank you.

    You are the very welcome.

Replacing a hard drive is easy to do.

See the manual on the link below, Chapter 4.

If you don't want to purchase recovery discs for your HP PC (that you can find info on the link below), you can also make your own Windows 7 If installation disc you can read the 25-character windows product key 7 on the bottom of your PC.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07143

Here is the info on how to make your own install of W7 disc.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • G62 Intermittent boot failure

Over a period of several weeks, this 5 year laptop has developed a failure intermittent startup.

I went through all the suggstions found on various forms (running the diagnostics of F2 and F10 etc.; replacement of battery) and found yesterday when everything started normally!

This morning, after having run the new battery down to compress and recharged during the night, the lapyop was to his old habit--won't start do not.  The fan should run at high speed for a few seconds then continues quietly with no display.

While trying to access this forum on an Android Tablet (no luck) the laptop decided to come to life spontaneously long after pressing the Start button.

The result of the diagnosis of F2 showed a failure ID: GGFXPT-5A47P2-9XL03F-60QE03, but running a diagnosis deepened from the BIOS gave no error some!

I was on the point several times of just this "thing" reveling in the tray, but would welcome that there must be a permanent solution somewhere out there.

    Hi there @s_gw,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I looked into the problem you are experiencing with your laptop. You had mentioned receiving a failure ID: GGFXPT-5A47P2-9XL03F-60QE03. Identification of this failure code is the code for "Hard disk 1 Quick Test Failure".

This failure Code is related to the hard, I suggest that you save all important files as soon as you can.

Here are two documents that will help you solve the problems to find the root cause.

1 HP laptops - Hard Drive failure errors: failure Imminent, Smart, BIOHD, HD535, etc..

    2. HP Notebook PC - hardware failures (Windows 8) screening.

If this is insufficient, please use the following link to create yourself a file number and then contact us:

Step 1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter the product number or select Auto detection
Step 3. Scroll up to "still need help? Fill out the form to select your contact options.
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: contact HP options - click Get phone number

File number and phone number are displayed.

They will be happy to help you immediately.

Please follow the troubleshooting provided and save all your files. IF you need assistant extra, I'd be happy to help, I just need your model number (How can I find my model number or product number?) and which Windows operating system you are running?

    Thank you!

    Have a great day!

  • HP Pavilion 15 PC laptop: laptop won't boot up - stays on the black screen

My computer was working fine and then all of a sudden the screen went black.  I turned the power on and it came up with the error message "Unmountable Boot Volume" and then tried to solve the problem but just stayed on the screen black and never solved the problem.  I turned it off, did the hard reset when I remove the battery and hold the power for 15 seconds, but it's always the same.

I went into the mode where I can try to restore the computer but it does not allow me to do. They say it restores and then just black.   I also ran a report where it says that the problem is "short hard drive DST Check: failed ' and gave me a code of 0SNHWW-7N987K-MFPWMG-60WF03.

If there is nothing that can be done to help me I would be really happy I have use this laptop for work and really need to get it back running of emergency with minimal cost.  Thanks a lot for your help

    @Amyynatalia,

    The pleasure is all mine!

I'm afraid not, you will be asked to pay more for the replacement drive as its not covered by the warranty.

    Keep me posted!

  • Pavilion dv6-3225dx: laptop fails to boot after upgrading RAM.

    Hello

Recently, I tried upgrading my laptop RAM 8 GB which is max you may have to wait. The RAM sticks were (x 2) DDR3 4 GB Samsung 1600 12800 mhz 1.35v. The system has detected the new RAM, showed the new memory and even spent the memory test. But this isn't the windows startup. I tried to clear CMOS. But without success. Do not let me windows. BIOS version is up to date (F29). Is there any setting for this?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hello:

Please see this discussion.  It must be very picky about what memory you use in your model series...

  • My laptop won't boot at all

Last Monday I was on my laptop and the battery came out while it's on, because then it does not start, I tried pressing F8 to start mode without failure, repair or mode and all I get is a white screen.

I tried to boot from a Windows 7 repair of my CD drive disc and it gets to half way then fails. What is the problem with the system can be wiped and restored to factory setting or is it irreparable?

You can enter the BIOS settings? HARD drive recognized and properly list?
Set it to default settings please and try reinstalling the operating system.

  • HP laptop: recovery disk boots, but no mouse cursor to select the options.

I started the HP recovery cd and it gets to the menu asking what to do - there is no cursor mouse so I can't use it.  Arrows, page up/down, alt + tab, etc. do nothing.

F1 brings up 'any aid found' so that the keyboard works.

I was able to use a paragon boot cd (linux) & mouse/keyboard worked fine, but of course, I can not restore the system with it.

FWIW: the laptop crashed and lost network connectivity, so I used system restore to go back (on the 2nd try) - 36hours after waiting until the end; I turned off & of course, it wouldn't start with various errors depending on if ordinary start-up or secure boot... If I want to use a system restore to reset some system files in order to start up and down my files.

Find the USB Wired mouse, plug in and try it.

I can't get into safe mode.  I got in the Hp diagnostic screens and I conducted tests on all and everything.

I did a hard reset, still frozen.

I removed the cover, he went out and placed him in, still nothing.

Whenever I have to try and reset it, he said administrative privileges is necessary, but there is no administrative privileges on this computer.

    There is no restore point.

I ran chkdsk via the command prompt and had no error.

I tried running sfc: scannow but I had which was something in the meantime and could not do.

    Hi Dunne08,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

I suggest that you try the following steps before you reinstall Windows XP.

See the Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

After the Windows Logo appears or after you log in to Windows, a Windows XP computer cannot display the wallpaper, a black screen or a blue screen

  • My laptop won't boot. All I get is a white, black screen with the cursor flashes in the corner.

I tried boot cd of the Hiren s and changed the boot order to cd drive.  That did not work.

My laptop is a compaq, about 8 years old and winxp.

Press ctrl-alt-delete. If it works, go to file / new task, type explorer.exe. This brings to the top of the desktop computer? I wouldn't use Hirens CD. Go into the BIOS and change to the hard drive. If windows is installed
