Good wireless, but browsers won't connect?

I have a HP/Compaq nw8440 runing Windows XP Professional. I can connect to my wireless very well, but my browsers, Firefox and IE 8 will not connect. Any ideas?

Hi Paul.

I feel like a first fool of the year. I uninstalled the wireless adapter and enabled him to reinstall on reboot, the problem is solved.

Thank you much.

I had to change on my router and it has a new security code.  I have reset my PC to the new code and they work very well. I deleted the 6500 printer and tried to reinstall using the OJ6500vE709_Basic_13 software and the software OJ6500vE709_Full_13.  The software crashes during installation once I have plug in the USB cable.  I uninstalled the software now several times and it seems to hang in the same place every time - during or after step 6 of 8.  It "seems" that the printer working via the USB cable, but this completely defeats the object of a wireless printer.

I guess I have a series of hanging there messed up software.  I tried to uninstall all HP software using windows uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller.  Everything seems to have disappeared, so I'm at a loss to understand why I can't get this thing working again.

To be clear, that the printer has worked on wireless very well until I swapped the router - same brand, same configuration, but it creates a different security key, of course.  Router was not bad, he just gave my son - he has reconfigured it so I can't really come back as an option.

Wanted you to know that I could get the connected printer by following the instructions that you have provided.  Great job!  Thank you.  I now have another problem, but I will start another thread for this one.

  • Wireless connectivity problems: Windows Vista displays connected to the internet with good signal, but cannot access the internet more than a few seconds.

    Hello

Recently, I brought a Dell with Windows Vista and a Belkin Wireless adapter in my house somewhere else. The computer has never had problems connecting to wireless internet on the other networks, however since the move I was not able to access the internet. Sometimes the network shows only a local connection and not Internet and other times, the network has a strong signal, a network identified and even an internet connection, but when I open any browser, it is only able to load the Google homepage and I cannot navigate anywhere else. I turned off all firewalls and even uninstalled all 3rd party software protection. I checked all my browser settings and made sure they detect automatically the IP settings and proxy settings. In other words everything seems in good shape, but I still have no navigation capability. Any ideas?

It turns out that I had to remove all the old Wireless USB software that had been used previously (there had been other versions of Belkin and Linksys). I then used the computer from my friend to download suitable driver on the Belkin site for the internet adapter USB I used and BAM.

Visit their web page (the manufacturer) and find their drivers and help section and get the drivers for your model laptop for Windows XP 32-bit.

You, of course, this done from another machine and using some external media to get it back to the laptop.  You can get * just * wired or wireless network drivers if you wish - you can then use the Internet on the laptop again to get the rest.

    Hello

Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
    obstacles in the path?

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Laptop can connect wirelessly, but not through cable utp to the internet. Help!

I tried to connect my computer laptop windows 7 to the internet using a utp cable. Unfortunately, without success. Works with wireless, but in my dorm, I cannot use internet via cable. I tried to turn off the wireless, but that did not work either the comouter does not recognize that the cable is already connected. Please help me solve this problem.

Thanks for your help in advance! :)

I would check the cable carefully.  Sometimes, some of the wires are loose from the plug.  See if the laptop can connect to cables in other places.  If possible, the problem is with the cable and not on your computer.

    Good luck.

  • WiFi connected but browsers and mail stop working

    Here's the situation:

    iMac, 4 years, OS X 10.7.5

WiFi connected but, browsers and mail stop working sometimes recently.

Checked the wifi & browser settings.

Do not remember something like what happens when connected online cat5.

Curious to know what is happening.

Say local store card is perhaps go wrong.

The machine is only 8 ' of router.

Another pc on the network does not appear to be a problem.

    Any help appreciated.

You can connect an Ethernet cable to see if it works on Ethernet when you encounter problems easily?

Try to use your own DNS server.  Because if the DNS server that you use currently is not translate www.company.com name to IP address nn.nn.nn.nn, it will look like you do not have internet access.

    System Preferences-> network-> advanced-> DNS-> [+]

    OpenDNS.org

    208.67.222.222

    208.67.220.220

    Google DNS

    8.8.8.8

    8.8.4.4

You can remove them later if you want using the [---] button.

If this does not work, it could mean that your router is having problems.  Most routers act as the local DNS server, make a cache and especially fair bet as a DNS server provided a front for the access provider.  If the router begins to act, it can often be cleared by power cycling the router.

And once again, if you provide your own DNS server works, then it could be DNS servers of the ISP, but less likely that they would be getting a lot of complaints from their customers (assuming that customers thought it was DNS servers).

You know, there are 2 sides to any path of communications.

If it is technically possible for radio Wi - Fi of the iMac to fail, it's actually not very common.
