hear the headphones instead of speakers

On an Z210 workstation, I plug in a headset to work known with headphones and microphone in the sockets on the front or back and hear the sounds through the speakers from the computer instead of the helmet headset.  Microphone seems to work because the other person can hear me on a gotomeeting.  How to get the windows media player sounds or other programs to send the sounds in the headphones?

Hello

Please try the following, first you must remove the audio inputs, you have in Device Manager, which are not NVIDIA. Those who must be related to the NVIDIA video card yo uhave.

Then, install the following drivers:

Driver Chipset

Audio driver

Let me know if this helps solve the problem.

Thank you

    can you help me please?

    1. open the Device Manager and right click on Realtek High Definition Audio.

2 Select this option to "Update driver software".

    3. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".

    4. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".

    5. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.

    6. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio'.

    7, click on "next".

    8. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).

Install the native driver. Immediately test the headphones/speakers.

If the list of drivers to step 6 do not include "High Definition Audio" then please use the Windows system restore. It is quite safe to use because if you don't like the results, you can undo the restore operation.

Hey I just need to know how to play sounds through the headphones and speakers. Help

    Depends on your audio device.

If its edge, while normally when you plug the headset switch will cut off the speakers.

If you have a USB or Firewire pro device you can listen to your headphones as the signal played through your speakers.

  • Latitude E6420 Sound going headphones instead of speakers

I'm on a Dell Latitude E6420, and I'm having a problem with my speakers.

What I have found is that by default, the computer sends sound for headphones, regardless of whether or not they are connected. There are two audio devices in the control panel > Sound, one called speakers/headphones and the other called Communications helmet.
According to me, that both failed to the headphone, because when you play the normal sounds, they come through the headphones, and when you run the function 'Test' for the Communications headset, that comes through the headset as well. However, when you use the Test a helmet of communication and when you fill out a change in the volume of Communications helmet, the normal sounds (those who play with speakers/headphones) out through the speakers.

Dell has replaced both the motherboard and the speakers, and after that which did not help, they said I have to just wait for a new version of the driver.

  • Win7: no audio to the speakers, Yes in the headphones; Ubuntu: both work

    Hi all

My system is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a computer laptop lenovo. I was running Win7 since the beta public, never had any problems with the audio drivers. Can't remember when this happened, but at some point given, I lost the sound in my laptop speakers. Since the headphone output works, I assumed that some cables went loose. Also, sometimes I can actually get the sound through the speakers carefully placing my headset connector to halfway in. Well, in any case, I thought it was a hardware problem, until I installed Ubuntu on the side (dual boot) and everything works fine there. I reinstalled my Windows drivers, and later the whole windows, but nothing has changed. Pilots report no problems, in fact, the volume bar bouncing happily when I try to play music. Would be nice if I could hear it as well...

    Thank you very much

I don't know if this will help, but it's something I noticed when the Win7 RC is out. I found that the provided Windows audio driver that has been installed automatically by Win7 worked, but she changed the apparent wiring to all the output on the computer Sockets. IOW, things like the front speaker decision-making being the center being the sides, that sort of thing and the rear speakers. When I installed Win7 audio drivers provided by the manufacturer of the chipset audio instead, all outputs then returns to normal.

You should have a list for the real sound chips in your device manager on your computer (the HDAC device above is a default MS driver installed in addition to the device driver named) at your system specs must appoint the audio device. Download the drivers from the manufacturer of the device (not necessarily the computer) and install those.

Are other situations that mimic your question a bit if some multi-channel codec or filter is not properly downmixing 2 channel (applies only to multi-channel audio sources) or if the windows default sound sends audio signals to the SPDIF (digital) output for some reason any. For example, filter FFDSHOW or AC3, or some AAC codecs can have individual settings to redirect audio between speakers or SPDIF or to its multichannel downmix to 2 channels (for headphones or stereo speakers). You'll have to search options to find the wayward setting.

  • Portege R500-11Z: how to use the external mic and hear the internal speakers

When connect us the microphone to the Jack MIC the Portege, built-in speakers cut out!

How to use an external mic and still hear the internal speakers?

    Hello

    > When connect us the microphone on the Portege, built-in speaker MIC Jack cut!
Are you sure you used the microphone port and no headphone port?

Have you checked your settings Audio from Skype?
There is an option called ring through the speaker too or something like that.

Please also check the Realtek HD audio Manager in Control Panel.
There is a tab called Audio i/o.

Usually, you can change the connector settings, by clicking on the small key-tool icon.
Disable the option called Mute rear output when plugged headphones before

As you can see is called headset and not so I m confused a little bit why the speakers are turned off when you connect an external microphone.

By the way; There is also a tab called micro.
Check if the two options that reduce the echo and noise are OFF

  • Laptop HP shows ' speakers and the headphones ' as a healthy option

I recently got a new computer hp laptop.

When I plugged my headphones in, sound still came through the speakers. I looked in the sound menu, and it was classified as two options "Speakers and headphones" and "helmet of Communications." I could hear my voice to friends with Skype on the headphones, but my ingame (Star Trek Online) sounds came again through the laptop speakers. Does anyone know how I can make my headphones and speakers separate options?

I guess your headphones have a microphone built in, as they appear as a communication device.

-Just cut the speakers, keep the helmet on.

    OR,

-Set the speakers and headphones as the default communication device.

Post back and let us know if this helped.

  • Wmb54g play on the headphones, not the PC speakers

I have a WMB54G. It is properly configured and plays music on my home theater remote control system. When I say the utility to play music on my PC speakers, audio appears on my USB headset, not on my PC speakers via the sound card in my computer.

I am running XP SP3. The bridge and my WRT54G Router are both running the latest firmware. I can ping each device and get to each configuration page.

On the OS sounds and Audio Devices Properties the Linksys Wireless - G Music Bridge appears as the default audio playback device. My sound card is on all different dropdowns, but nowhere is the default device. My helmet appears as default device for recording sound and voice playback and recording.

If I make the sound card, the default device, music plays fine on the speakers, but then the bridge Wireless-G does not work.

I thought that I had to be able to play remotely by selecting Connect from the utility and to play on the speakers on my PC (not the headphones) when I select speakers for PC.

Here's how I solved, with the valuable assistance of Shiela A of Live Chat (sic).

My Control Panel sounds and Audio Devices dialog box to show the Linksys Wireless Music Bridge as the default device. My card of Audio Creative Soundblaster (which connects the speakers) and my Plantronics USB headset were also on this drop-down list.

By pressing the connection to PC speakers on the bridge utility button connected to the headset instead speakers. Seems to be no available method to tell the bridge which to choose.

Finally, I just unplugged the headphones, so I said to the bridge utility for music, bridge and my home theater, speakers of the PC system. It seemed that the bridge has spent a long time thinking as to where had these headphones. Finally, the music appeared on my PC speakers.

I tested that I could move back between the bridge and the PC speakers. Then I reconnected in headphones. Subsequently pass the WMB54G connection and the connection to the PC speakers produced the correct behavior. The utility now ignored bridge the headset.

Count so this problem is solved.

  • Speakers do not work, but the headphones are

    Hello

Just until yesterday, the speakers were working well, but today I try listening to something but no sound coming from the speaker.

I plugged my headphones and it seems to work very well. But when I unplug my headphones no sound. Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Hello Ninito,

Because you heard tones during the display of the color bars in the embedded PSA Diagnostics, this means that the speakers work.

Because you can hear the audio through the headphones this means that the audio hardware and driver are working.

If you reinstall the audio driver * but still can not hear the speakers, this means that in the headphone detection circuit does not. When the detection circuit fails, Windows "believes" that a plug into the Jack and therefore will not allow audio to switch the speakers.

The solution is to replace the plug, but your model is taking part of the motherboard. To replace decision means replace the motherboard which is too expensive for most people. Your idea of using an external speaker system is probably your best workaround.

As you may know, Dell does not support Windows 8 on the model of the Studio 1558. I guess that the audio driver you are using is now the native audio driver that is built into Windows 8. You can also try the IDT audio driver (IDT is the manufacturer of audio equipment on a Studio 1558). This link will lead you to a page of drivers suggested for a Studio 1558 with Windows 8. If you want to try the driver IDT, go to this page and click the link under the word "Audio".

If you are able to install an IDT audio driver in your Studio 1558 with Windows 8, there is a solution that could allow audio to come through the speakers. This workaround is in V of article 2 of the Jack FAQ of headphones.
