Help! Inspiron 1525 cannot find the CD/DVD drive

My new Inspiron 1525 running Vista Home Pro can't find the CD/DVD drive. I tried reinstalling the driver, but it does not recognize the device to install on!

I have installed a DVB - T TV antenna just before that the problem occurred. So far, the drive has worked perfectly.

Any ideas? I am in Germany and I support here is until 18:00 and the U.S. support will not help me!

Thank you

Ruth

Basically, I'm at a loss to know what to do to try to solve this problem. • Pavilion dv7 cannot recognize the CD/DVD drive, no help support "assistant".

Subject says it all.  Since I got this machine, it had problems when the CD/DVD drive becomes invisible and are not accessible by any means.  A reboot has solved in the past, but now, it doesn't seem to work more.  I would like to reinstall the drivers, but guess what, I don't know what kind of player, it is (funny how that works), and Support 'Assistant' is apparently ihcapable to understand the model of this Pavilion dv7 ("product name: loading...") ("now until the heat death of the universe), which does not help either.  Anyone has a better idea than just blindly install the drivers?

    Hello

Drivers for CD/DVD drives comes with Windows (IE with the operating system - it is not the drivers you need to download).  The driver is located in C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys.

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Check if the drive works now.

If the drive does not, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Right-click on the first channel and select uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel.  Also, if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall it, once again is not removing the drivers if requested. Then, open the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.  Make a right click the drive (if it shows!) and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.

Restart the computer and let Windows reinstall devices.  Check the disc again.

If it still does not work, re-run the fixit automated Microsoft at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Then, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    Hello

I opened my laptop to clean-up and it was the first time that I never opened a laptop. Messed up at the opening of the cd/dvd drive.
Instead of just pulling out, I started its opening screw but quickly realized that this is not the right way. So I took it out. Rest of the disassembly procedure went well and I assembled it back but he little silver r 2 bands and a small source, which I'm sure that belongs to the CD player and I couldn't adapt it.
And I don't know how it fits.
The computer does not detect the drive. Although I can open it by clicking on the Open button, then he hang out by sharp object. (The light will blink showing the power exists in)

The second thing is the microphone. I've never used until last week, but my voice is going through. The system does not detect any microphone.

  • Cannot get the cd/dvd driver for CD playback

    Hiya

Earlier this year, my laptop has been infected by viruses, malware, etc. I used the program Spyware Doctor to remove any infections, but so many files and programs are removed.

On the Device Manager CD-ROM/DVD-ROM driver TSSTcorp DVD +-RW TS - L632H ATA Device ended up having a typical yellow mark next to it and the cd player would not read cds or dvds. Somehow however his custom 'fixed' itself, but always play all discs.

Light to the factory side, it opens and closes, and when a cd is put in it sounds as if its going to do something, but after a few seconds only stops and don't open the program or recognize the drive. I read through many responses of forum and things like delete upper and lower filters do not work as they are already not.

Advice or answers will be very appreciated!

    Hi sugar_owl,

    1. run the troubleshooter from the link, below, you can see the link below:

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows:http://support.microsoft.com/gp/hardware_device_problems

To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. click System and Maintenance, click System and then click on Device Manager.

Note that if control panel is in Classic view, double-click System and then click on Device Manager.

    (c) in Device Manager, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on the device CD and DVD and then click on uninstall.

    d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK and restart the computer.

    e. After you restart the computer, the drivers will be installed automatically.

  • Cannot access the cd/dvd drive

I use a laptop Toshiba A300, I do not have cd driver icon in the Control Panel, but the driver is present, I installed the latest service pack tried to update and restore drivers - getting error code 19, even the microsoft fix, this site could not solve, I'm stupid or what?

    Hi BJGreen,

    Thanks for posting your question.

Please follow the suggestions listed below.

    Step 1:

Since you have already tried the FIXIT tool and it didn't quite good; I recommend you try to change the registry manually, because it is more reliable. To do this the steps (from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 ) mentioned below.

    1) click Start and then click all programs.

    2) click Accessories, and then click Run.

    (3) type regedit and then click OK.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    (4) in the navigation pane, find and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    (5) in the right pane, click UpperFilters.

Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 8.

    (6) on the Edit menu, click on delete.

    (7) when you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    (8) in the right pane, click LowerFilters.

Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content cannot help you. Go to the section "Next steps" to learn how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.

    (9) on the Edit menu, click on delete.

    (10) when you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    (11) exit the registry editor.

    (12) computer.

    Step 2:

If you have installed a CD/DVD burning software recently, then I recommend you to uninstall and check if the problem is resolved and then reinstall it.

  • MacBook retina cannot find the USB hard drive when it is plugged again

    Hello world

I have a MacBook retina 2015 computers and a hard drive WD elements USB3 that I use as a Time Machine backup when they travel. The drive is plugged into the USB - C through one of the Apple dongles and when I first start the computer, the USB is mounted and that it appears on the desktop. He does everything very well.

When I want to take the machine away, I eject it, wait for the secure message and then physically disconnect the drive. However, when I go back and reconnect the drive, the Mac did not see it. The reader will be able as the light comes on and I can hear it turn. Just, it is not mount and is completely invisible for MacOS.

I checked all connections, even used another dongle - no luck. A disconnect does not set, and I tried to reset the NVRAM. So far, the only solution is to reboot the Mac, afterwards the player reappears - at least until I need to unplug it again.

Anyone got any ideas what is underway and if there is a fix?

    Thank you very much

    Mike.

    Hello, Mike Richards2,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

This is I think understand that you are not able to see an external hard drive when it is ejected, and then reconnect the computer.  I have some suggestions that I hope will help you.

It is important to try to isolate what is responsible for this.  The first thing to do to help isolate what is causing the problem is to start the computer in what is called Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

    Start in safe mode:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.
    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

Once the computer is running in safe mode, see if you can duplicate the issue.  If the problem does not appear, go ahead and try to reboot normally again.  If the problem has disappeared, it may have been caused by a problem of file or directory of cache fixed by booting in safe mode.

If the question comes up, you'll want to check the login items.  Follow these instructions to remove the connection:

OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible connection points

Remove the connection, restart the computer and see if the problem persists.

    Have a great day!
