HOTSYNC

I have an old (former reading) Palm m500

My hand has the latest info and I haven't hotsynced for a long time. When I hotsync now, how can I be sure that the most recent news of the handheld overrides and replaces what is on my computer?

This question surely date me. Please respond by email to my address [email protected] . Thank you

Hello and welcome to the Palm support community.

Please do not ask for responses to the sent private to you.  This would frustrate the purpose of the Forums, which is to help the community of users.  In addition, post your e-mail address here is bound to ask you a bunch of SPAM, because the robot programs through internet forums for email addresses.  I didn't delete it, but we recommend that you change your question to remove your e-mail address.

To change your Hotsync conduit settings, enter in Hotsync Manager by clicking once on the red and blue Hotsync icon in your tray in the bottom right of your screen (or click Start > programs > Palm/PalmOne > Hotsync Manager if it is not already done).

Select custom. Then scroll down the list of Conduits for the (s) you want to change. They must be changed at the same time by highlighting the name of conduit and selecting the change. In the next dialog box, select the Hotsync action, as you want. And then click OK.

Repeat the process for any other lines you want to change. The new settings will ONLY affect the next Hotsync operation... i. e, they will NOT become the new default settings, unless you also click on the "Set As Default"box. " If you change this setting to correct a data problem, you probably want the Conduit to return to the setting "Synchronize" by default. But if you want to permanently change the action of this conduct, you must also check the box set as default.

(Also, just about every issue under the Sun has been asked and answered here at one time or another and using the search feature would undoubtedly raise a lot of answers on how to do what you want.)  I'm saying '...)

  • Failure to connect the HotSync Palm TX 4.2 and Office XP Pro

I have a Palm TX with v. 4.2 OS and HotSync residing in a XP Pro PC.

When you perform the HotSync operation, controlled by the cable button, either very often fails because unable to connect to the PC or the device is not recognized.

After several attempts, HotSync works fine, using the same USB port.

This problem isn't to blame on the desktop environment or is there something that can be fixed on the Palm software?

The TX comes with Palm OS 5.4.9 installed - 4.2 is very probably the version of Palm Desktop, you are running.

The problem could be easily the cable itself, or dirty contacts on the bottom of the unit.  Check the HotSync port gold on the TX sign of dirt, oil or corrosion.  Cleaning of this area with Contact Cleaner (available at electronics stores) or isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab can solve the problem.

If you have another available HotSync cable that you can borrow, I would suggest that-a break in one of the tiny wires inside could produce the symptoms you describe.

  • Office No. hotsyncs; install desktop-not hotsync

TungstenE2 with Vista; has been able to hotsync (Pocket largely successful). But no office arrives with the data. Only your desktop with photos (Palm by Access). Instructions that came with your handheld (to replace an older) says to install desktop 6.2, I did. The desktop appears fine on my Toshiba laptop (2005 version), but I tried everything to get a hotsync to work. The message is that no connection is possible and control Setup. Help, please!

Try right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then "run as Administrator".

Also make sure what UAC (User Account Control) is disabled.  Control Panel/users/disable UAC.

  • Tungsten E don't hotsync on Windows 7

I run my Palm Tungsten E (bought in 2005) using the HotSync Manager 4 without problem.

I just got a new HP laptop and tried to install the HotSync Manager, the drive did not have software to do the installation.

I downloaded HotSync Manager 7.0.2 to try to resolve the problem. The result is the same - HotSync does not work and NO error no message to tell me what may be the problem!

Did anyone had success turning a successful HotSync the Tungsten E Windows.

I also have an old Tungsten E and now a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. I finally understood how to synchronize so here's my story.
Already said that it works by infrared, so I bought an infrared adapter USB 7780 MOSCHIP (www.conrad.nl) and downloaded driver win7-64 www.moschip.com and installed the infrared adapter.
I downloaded Palmdesktop 6.22 including hotsync 7.02. I also had to download and install additional conduct for Outlook2007 which I am running.
Next: setting up hotsync to my Tungsten E account. First make a user account. It's a little tricky because this isn't the username under network parameter, but the name that appears in the upper right of the screen if you synchronize. I also had to cancel my password I got into serious trouble syncing asked a password, although I never had a password configuration in my Tungesten E. go to prefs - security - and cancel your password.
Then in the hotsync Manager filling out what Sync (contacts, calendar, Outlook etc.). And then connection sto Infarred and network!
Then set up the connection, placing my infrared USB adaptor near the mt Tungesten E IR. Then go to prefs, connection and I thought choose IR for PC/handheld, but the later which proved to be wrong, so I created my own custom "IR Paul" connection and the connection to the PC and via an infrared connection.
Next to the prefs - network - service Untitled, username in my case "psalverd", "password" and connection to the IR Paul. Fact
The Star then tab on the PDA but cancel immediatelt as Tungesten E then well that you put in place to connect with IR tries to connect to usnig a home/cable station. Yo see the Hotsync on your PDA saying menu "hotsync last date-time" with Paul IR. Its the Hotsync icon in the middle of the screen and hotsync tab will now run. On your PC, a window opens showing the progression of your timing, will soon launch a password (no) and then starts the synchronization really.

Hope my story will help someone else. As I'm not a very literate PC users that perhaps not all correct, but it worked for me.

I have Windows 7, 64 bit computer laptop.  HotSync wireless worked well in the past.  Just started this problem a couple of days.  HotSync Manager version 7.0.2.  Palm Desktop version 6.2.2.  I have a backup file on my laptop but don't know how to restore the desktop.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, PNeely

I suggest you download an extractor free files like 7-zip or WinZip.

  • Palm Tungsten E2 hotsync with windows 8

I have a palm Tungsten E2 I can't warm to sync using Windows 8. I have it installed, which, according to me, is the latest driver for Palm and the installed program, but it is still impossible hot sync. There is no Bluetooth capabilities either.

Yes my E2 HotSynced fine on my old computer, no problem.

The error message, it's that there is no link.

I went to ensure that the program was looking for synchronization via USB because it's what I use, so this isn't the issue.

  • Palm M515 - Windows Xp - cannot HotSync! Help, please

Well, I'm going to this for a few hours because I received my used Palm m515 and cannot get it to HotSync with my computer. Someone at - it a step by step how to sync it? I get an error message on my palm, saying that it can not connect and I have to configure my settings. I tried to switch to palm desktop and it says that my Com1 port is not open? Any suggestions?

The first thing you should do when a part receiving device is Hard Reset to turn the unit to the factory settings and erase all their information. When the device's HotSync ' ed, a hotysnch user name is applied to the device. If you do not use the same username in Palm Desktop, when you synchronize, it won't recognize the user name and cause problems HotSync ' ing.

Once the device is hard reset. Start the HotSync process and configure the user name that you want to use in Palm Desktop.

  • HotSync Palm desktop with PalmZ22

When I do the hotsync, at the end I am always asked to reset my Z22. Is this normal or can be avoided?

This can be caused by a number of factors, which is a parameter of a misconduct or a data conflict.  First thing to check is the framework for the conduct of backup.  Click once on the Red & blue Hotsync icon round in your taskbar (lower right corner of your screen next to the clock).  Select custom, and then highlight the named pipe backup.  If it is not yet defined it, change the setting on the handheld replaces Desktop, then try to Hotsync again.

  • Windows 7 64 - bit hotsync for Tungsten E2

This infrared solution really worked well for E2 my wife with Windows 7 64-bit synchronization.

    1. I installed Palm Desktop 6.2-> http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html

    2. I have a USB to infrared adapter from Amazonyba SD-U1IRDA-NM Fast Infrared adapter USB $11.70 don't bother with the mini-CD of installation, the adapter has a chip MOSCHIP 7780, then go straight to http://www.moschip.com/mcs7780_downloads.php to download the appropriate driver 64 bit Windows 7 installation program. (You will need to configure a connection on the Web site first). Once the drivers installed you can restart the computer, then plug the IR adapter and let plug-and-play of Windows Installer.

    3. without the operation of Palm Desktop, I open the HotSync program. Under connections, IR has been listed and I checked it.

    4. go to HotSync on the E2, set the IR to PC connection, and then tap on the Center icon. Set the right Palm next to the IR adapter on the computer... less than 1 "away.

It worked!   It probably takes about 2 minutes to complete the hotsync.

    I know no such program.

Why not just install the drivers of Aceeca we had posted for awhile?  They let you HotSync normally via your USB cable for Win 7 or 8 to win!

Seems that there is some security restrictions. The Treo 650 is not known to me, but I recommend to check the ActivSync security options and add the Palm Treo 6 the list of secure devices.

  • Tungsten E2 HotSync with Win7 not

    Hello

This topic, I spent days the web and this forum to research and tries in vain to synchronization.

Palm Desktop Win62 offers no connection in the menu bluetooth USB is the only option, but do not work. When you use hotsync error portable device is: hotwync due to the serial port cannot be used by another application.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Best regards

    Phil

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Make sure Palm Desktop or your E2 are both set to HotSync via the docking USB cable.   When I open Palm Desktop on my laptop and click the HotSync icon, then connections, I see these options:

    USB

    Network (TCP/IP)

    Serial

If you don't see these, then I suggest that you do a clean uninstall/reinstall of Palm Desktop.

USB for Palm Desktop 6.2.2 version works fine on my x 2 HP spectrum loan.

These instructions are for Vista, but should work for Win7.

You first need to you a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by clicking on start-> Documents-> Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy. Then go to the desktop of your PC, click on a blank spot block and select.

If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step. If you are not concerned about your data at this stage, go to the next step.

Now, you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do with Palm Desktop on your computer. Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below. [C:\Program Files\Palm or C:\Users\[Vista Palm connection name] \appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne C:\Users\[Vista Login Name] \appdata * note you may need to show hidden folders to join appdata. To do than to go into your control panel and open folder options. Go to tab and uncheck hide hidden files.

When you use Palm desktop 6.2, look in my documents or documents and delete the folder Office of PalmOS. It is the location of the PD 6.2 data files.

Once this is done, you will need to remove certain keys in the registry of your PC operating system.

Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC to start, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel that you are not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to remove. To make sure that we have a good copy of the current registry, we make a backup of the registry.

Go to start on your PC in the search box type "regedit.exe" without the quotes.

Point peak COMPUTER, go to file-> Export. Should appear with a save as box. Current place of residence is fine, must be within My Documents, or save to a location that you will remember. In the name of the file in low type "backup [todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. You will be asked, you of course. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.

The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys will not be here, but if they remove them)

    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer * Robotics\Pilot Desktop HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then, restart your computer.

Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD (or a download) and do a hotsync. If request you a user name, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right of the screen to hotsync.

I found the solution to this problem with another Member of this forum.

I downloaded the free program DbFixIt of Pimlico Software, Inc., www.pimlicosoftware.com, & was able to install it on my Palm Centro.  I ran the program & it removed 2 problems of the Calendar database.  After that, the HotSync operation took place without problems.

  • Problems HotSync - Bluetooth option missing in connections

After installing Windows 7 RC, 64-bit, I had to HotSync my Tungsten E2 with Bluetooth, rather than use the cable.  I bought and installed an Azio Bluetooth dongle (and included the Toshiba Bluetooth software) without a hitch. However, when I created my HotSync options I found that I couldn't choose Bluetooth because the option was not simply present on HotSync Manager/connections.  VERY frustrating.

Buried deep in a another thread on this forum was the solution: go to control panel | Programs, remove the Bluetooth drivers and restart.  The device is installed with the Windows drivers again.  As if by magic, the Bluetooth option appeared on the HotSync Manager Connections window and everything was good.

Of course, some computers come with the included Bluetooth option.  For those with x 64 Windows AND have the third-party Bluetooth drivers (other than Windows) AND are having HotSync problems because there is no way to activate the Bluetooth option, the hotfix may be similar - uninstall the drivers and use the native Windows drivers instead.

I suspect that this issue can come down more, that those who do not always have HotSynced with Bluetooth is now required to do it because they are moved to x 64 Vista or Windows 7.  Palm does not have this problem on one of their pages to support - that I could find.

YES!  It worked for me: "buried deep in a another thread on this forum was the solution: go to control panel | Programs, remove the Bluetooth drivers and restart.  The device is installed with the Windows drivers again.  As if by magic, the Bluetooth option appeared on the HotSync Manager Connections window and everything was good."
