The Maiteance and Service Guide for the HP ENVY 17 says that the laptop is nuer HM55 Express Chipset.

In the first place, there is no way to confirm this, because system manipulated information.

The review mentioned no. USB is 2.0.

• HP ENVY Beats all-in-One: usb 3.0 ports do not work

USB 2.0 hubs work but the 3.0 have never worked. Thumb drives and exterrnal readers do not appear in the file manager. No problem, indicated in the Device Manager.

Thank you for your help.

After searching around, I found new info: F2 at startup - BIOS - HP has a tool to check if different parts of the computer are working correctly. (Officially), I learned that the usb ports two 3.0 do not work (despite Device Manager, telling all the devices work properly). I received a "failure code" and a phone number to call. Technical support has confirmed that the failure code indicated the 3.0 ports do not work, and for $215 they can repair (price including shipping Fedex).

I see if someone locally replace ports. Not sure that 3.0 ports are worth anywhere from $215. After all, the computer works just fine as it is. It's just annoying, they have never worked, that it took so long to finally find a solution, and that the warranty has expired.

• ENVY 13-D046TU: F.35Ap1 BIOS update kills port HDMI on ENVY laptop

After installation of the firmware update marked Softpaq number: SP75152, F.35Ap1 Version now four of our laptops (13 "and 14" ENVY ENVY) have a HDMI port not working. The external screens are 'no signal '.

We spent a lot of time with the help of HP (via Hong Kong, we found ourselves in India). Remote control sessions. All a waste of time. The update of the BIOS is faulty, no system restore cannot solve this problem.

Same day (June 13, 2016) one of our laptops automatically installed this update of the BIOS with the HP Support Assistant and killed the HDMI port.

A. is there a way to acquire and install the previous BIOS?

When can b. we expect a new update of the BIOS?

C. how the hell did this update of the BIOS pass test? -> 4 / 4 updated computers laptops have a broken HDMI port. We have 7 other laptop on the left who are fortunately not updated.

Hi there @BugFinderand @DebVancouver.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff. From what I understand, bothl of you experience the same problem with HDMI after a BIOS update. I'm happy to help you with this.

I would, if possible, that each of you try the laptops HP - restore the BIOS to a restoration to the having previously worked BIOS. The main purpose is to return you to a working state. If this method works for you, obviously do not install BIOS update again.

Edit: Bugfinder reported that restoration, the method of BIOS didn't work for him, but he had to do several times (4 times in at least one case). I guess you could say that it is true to its name, and I thank very you much for the comments.

Please let me know if it works for you and if not let me know if there is an error message any. If this does not solve your immediate problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

• HP DV7 ENVY: USB 2.0 Port does not

Hello

I have a DV7 HP ENVY with 3 - USB 3.0 ports and 1 - USB 2.0 port. The USB 3.0 ports are working well but USB 2.0 does not work. When you plug a USB stick to the USB 2.0 port power led on the memory stick lights up but the led data is not. The computer does not at all to the inserted USB memory. The USB works fine in other 3.0 ports. I tried also to connect other USB devices, and it's the same thing. They work well on USB 3.0 ports, but nothing happens when you connect to a USB 2.0 port.

I was looking at the USB drivers in Device Manager and haven't noticed anything that seems strange.

I have run the system test diagnostic USB to start the system and got the following codes:

Failure ID: 9BXQGK-6JK858-QFPK0K-8D0G03

Product ID: C1W26EA #UUW

No idea if this is a hardware or software failure?

Hi @pefre,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I read your post and wanted to help.

I understand that the USB 2.0 port has failed on your laptop. According to the fault code 9BXQGK-6JK858-QFPK0K-8D0G03 you officer, I got following results:

• Envy 17-j141na: a USB 3.0 port only works on USB 2.0

Hello

I have a HP Envy 17-j141na (product number: J0C16EA #ABU) running Windows 8.1. I recently tried to connect a Sata hard drive via a USB 3.0 enclosure and found that the right rear USB port works with a USB 2.0 cable and any USB 3.0. There is no problem with any of the three other no ports just this one. Grateful for any help.

Thank you.

Hello Malygris1,

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I investigated further and found that the problem had become a problem on the port adjacent to the original track and then there are two with the same problem. I was struggling to believe I had lost a second port and so took risks on the purchase of an another leader of a different even if manufacturer initial lead was again with the Cabinet. The result was successful with all USB 3.0 ports. I can only assume that there was a faulty connection in original mind that failed when it was routed to one side of the laptop and not the other. Thanks again, I'm certainly glad that the fault was not in the computer.

• HP Envy 14-1010nr: HP Envy 14-1010nr Notebook PC: replace and upgrade to USB 3.0 ports

Hello

I have a HP Envy 14 - 1010nr Notebook PC, which had two USB 2.0 ports on the left side and a USB 3.0 port on the right.

USB 3.0 port was damaged such as connectors plugged it seem a little loose and can move laterally a little so that the connection to the device comes in and out - makes it uncertain to copy some stuff on a hard drive through it, for example.

Is it possible for me to replace this port? Where could find a spare part for that if it can replace?

Even though I am inside the computer, I might as well replace the USB 2.0 with USB 3.0 ports ports if the pats replacement for that exist...

You're right, because there is no audio + USB 3.0, only the original + USB 2.0

• HP ENVY 750-177c: I have a HP ENVY 750-177c and has been upgraded and 2 thin black wires were disconnected.

I have a HP ENVY 750-177c and has been upgraded and 2 thin black wires were disconnected from the motherboard. They have loops at the end of the wires that look like they might slip on the pins. The wires connect to the upper part of the box of the computer. Where to reconnect?

Find this card in your system. It is the M2 half-bridge Wireless card. The other end of the wires must always be fixed. There are 2 heels left and right of the '2 '. If everything is correct, it is your physical WI - FI antenna. Just re - stick inside the case. The small clips are used for an external aerial connection.

• My Satellite laptop has been freezing randomly

Hello

I've seen a lot of posts on the subject, but no solution. So my laptop has been freezing at random the day I bought it. Today it happens much more often, this becomes ridiculously boring.

Is there a way to fix this?

> Once again, there was a notification that emerged after one of those who freeze soemthing mean in the sense of "there was a problem with amd (graphics card)?"but it was resovled."" It's all updated however.

This notification comes from the graphics card driver. It might be possible that there is a problem with the graphics driver or with the graphics chip.

• Laptop Toshiba computers have serial port (COMM.)?

Hello

Is it true that Satellite phones have no serial port COMM? I am very surprised by this. All others is OK, but I need COMM port. Maybe I should buy another Toshiba notebook?

Ivan

Hello Ivan,.

one of my friends had the same problem. Here is some info for you that makes you happy! :-)

Toshiba offers only professional with the COM port laptop computers as 'old' COM, printer, PS2 ports are inherited. All the computer laptop manufacturer went this way in the past because the market doesn't have a demand for it! So only USB 2.0 is built in the terms of the end user.

Here's the new laptops from toshiba available with Port com Tecra M1, M2 Tecra, Tecra S1, Tecra 9100 and Tecra 9000. The 6100 Pro Satellite and 6000 was also one.

I don't know what specifications you have, but I hope this will help you.

General file recovery

If you stop using the drive, it is possible to recover files that have not been overwritten by using the recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, recovering files or TechTool Prodeleted. Each of the previous ones come on a bootable CD for use without risk of writing, more data on the hard drive. Two free alternatives are disc drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos to MacUpdate or CNET downloads. Recovery software generally provide trial versions that allows you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond that, or if the drive has completely failed, you must send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.

The hard drive remains the most widely used and the data are recorded, the greater the chance that your deleted files will be overwritten.

Also, visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on data recovery.

• Problems of transfer of files on the laptop with USB - Satellite Pro L100

I have a Topfield Freeview box that connects to my Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 via a very short USB cable. The box can read MP3s that I add via the USB connection.

My previous laptop added to hundreds of songs without any problem at all. However, this new Toshiba there are very particular problems.

I can send files of the TNT box to the laptop via USB with no problems, but if I try to send files (for example an MP3) Unlike - laptop box - it stutter and often fail. From time to time an entire song (only 4-5 MB) may be transferred without problems, but normally, it will not work. As I said, I can send 100 MB s, the other direction and everything works fine.

I tried transfer MP3s from my laptop and on the TNT housing with non-Toshiba laptop from a friend today and worked well. This collaboration with knowing I could do the same with my old laptop, suggests that the problem is clearly with the laptop. There must be a reason this notebook can transfer information via USB in a much better than in the other direction.

Is there anything I can do to upgrade drivers or software to allow my laptop works properly?

[Edited by: admin]

I put t know why this happens and I can only suggest.
For example on my laptop when something be transferred from an external source laptop and another way the software Anti Virus check all files and so it takes much more time.

I just disabled the anti scan antivirus and firewall and the transfer was going faster.

Eventually he s has the same problem on your laptop

• What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic. How can I identify which were delete

What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic. How can I identify which were deleted songs? I always manually move files to prevent this. I'm on Windows 10.

Has no way to know that...

If your library iTunes music fits on the storage space of 160 GB of your iPod classic, you just set to automatically sync your entire library of music. Then, it won't matter which has been removed and which do not get deleted, because your iPod music library is the same as your library iTunes music. And iTunes it keeps this way, every time your iPod connection (or click sync , if already connected).

If you don't want "everything" in your iTunes library on your iPod (understandable), you can create a playlist in your iTunes library with all the songs you want on the iPod. Then, set to automatically synchronize the playlist to iPod. Instead of manually managing iPod, you manually manage playlist in your iTunes library. The iPod has no need to be connected. The next time you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes will update the iPod with the same changes. The big advantage is, if something happens like what you describe, or needs to restore iPod (erased) or even if break you your iPod (and get a new), need you a few mouse clicks to solve the problem. Just set it up to sync the same playlist once again, which exists in your library iTunes (not only on the iPod).

You can post back for more information about how to use automatic synchronization to do what you want more easily, go ahead.
