  • HP OfficeJet 3830: 3830 HP wireless printer is offline in "sleep mode" and don't wake up to print

I've just set up a HP OfficeJet 3830 as a printer connected to my network wireless domestic (Airport Extreme Base Station router 802.11ac wireless). I was able to print-out of my MacBook, but when the printer goes into sleep mode, it appears offline and unresponsive to print. I have to restart the printer for her to appear online and respond. The printer will be in the basement, so it would be very inconvenient down to reboot just to print it. Kind of defeated the purpose of a wireless printer. I tried to disable the sleep mode to see if it works, but sleep mode settings cannot be disabled in the printer preferences. I already spent 3 hours to solve this problem.

I contacted HP technical support to solve the problem. The person told me restore default settings and then unplug the power to the printer and the router wireless for 30 seconds. After restarting the router, then the printer, we have connected the printer to the network with a static IP address. Who did the trick. Even if the printer is in "sleep" for several hours, it has not disappeared in offline mode, as it is done before. Problem solved for now. Hope this helps others.

    Hey @PJH42,

I see that you have problems with the printing of your PC to 10 Windows for the all-in-one printer Officejet 3830. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. If your printer is connected to your PC via a USB cable, remove it.
    2. Close any programs you have open.
    3. In your search type in printers bar and open devices and printers.
    4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
    5. Click on remove the instrument.
    6. Repeat for all other icons of your printer listed.
    7. If you removed the USB cable, connect. If this is not the case, click on add printer and follow the prompts to add a print queue to your PC.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you can print successfully, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

I tried to reinstall the printer and also used printing HP and doctor Scan. However, the printer and the laptop can not find each other. They are both connected to the same network, IP address, and the password.

  • HP OfficeJet 3830 all-in-one: problem of driver HP OfficeJet 3830

Very recently, I installed the 3830 OfficeJet from HP printer all in one so that the documents can be printed from an iPad and also my desktop computer wireless.

Installation seems fine - however there scanning questions and when I ran the doctor of printing & scanning HP the fix seemed to correct the problem.  I had to run the Scan Doctor again for the same problem - so there is of course another issue here.  Now, Dr. Printing & scanning says that the product could not be found even after a reboot, and the recommendation was to contact HP support.

As I am much a technophobe I don't really know what is happening here and how to correct the situation.  Can someone please tell me - in the simplest language possible - how this problem can be treated.

    Thank you very much.

  • HP OfficeJet 3830: Two HP printers on the same wireless network?

I have two HP printers on my wireless network. First HP Deskjet 3520 (installed for a few years). The second HP OfficeJet 3830 (new). Two software printer installed on the same computer from HP Desktop running Windows 10-64 bit.

Two printers put in place for wireless operation. Questions: the 3830 analyse, said the software is not installed (I am online for drivers and installed everything except the photo software.) After the scan does not work, I went back online and installed all the software, but it still says the softwar not installed. Having two printers the problem? Should I uninstall the old 3520? Any help would be appreciated.

    @bman55

Best I can tell by looking at the installation packages, two software are not in conflict with one another, in other words, it should be possible to connect two printers.

    Ideas

Check that both printers do not seek to use the same IP address - to connect to your router and check the list of attached devices.

If you wish, you can assign a static IP address for each printer.

Make sure that the Direct wireless is not enabled at the same time as you try to use a standard wireless connection.  (Using a router) wireless standard and Direct wireless are not compatible, that is, they cannot be activated / used at the same time.

If you do NOT directly use wireless:

Toggle the Direct wireless (on the printer) to ensure that it is effectively disabled - it might be lying to you. Toggle start / STOP to make sure that it is actually DISABLED.

    Hey @lbriskin,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that your Macintosh OSX 10.11 computer detects a printer all-in-one Officejet 3830. I can help you with that.

First of all, let's see if the problem can be related network or Mac related. To do:

Turn the printer off for a minute.

While the printer is off, remove the power cord at the back of the router for a minute.

When the lights came on your router on the printer.

Now, let's see what the printer think, that is the question. Click on the wireless icon that looks like a radio tower in the Middle at the bottom of the screen.

The next step depends on the IP address on the printer display.

    • If the IP address starts with 169.254, then the printer does not receive a valid IP address. Click the gear icon and select Wireless Setup Assistant to connect again. If the IP continues first 169.254 then the next step is to contact your internet provider because you have a device that will not receive a valid IP address of the router. If this is the case, then I would suggest calling a device and not a printer. If you say printer they say talk to HP and want to terminate the call.
    • If the IP address starts with 172 the printer is connected to a network of comments. Contact the company that you provided with the router for assistance with deactivation of the feedback network.
    • If the IP address begins with 192.168 or 10 then the printer IP address is fine. The next step would be to determine the issue on the Mac.
    • If the IP address begins with any other number then the network has somewhat changed. I would contact who is now the network for assistance.

Assuming that the IP starts with 192.168 or 10 the next step would be to reset your printing system. To do:

On the Mac, click the Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.

Hold down the command key and click the picture of the printer on the left side of the screen.

    Click on reset printing system.

Click on the button "+" in the lower left corner of the screen.

Select your printer from the list.

Click on the box to use and select your printer from the list.

    Click on Add.

If your printer was not in the previous window, it means that there is a setting on the network that prevents the Mac and a printer to communicate. I communicate with the one that is provided with the router and ask them to open all Ports, enable multicast, MAC disable the filtering/MAC cloning and make sure that the router broadcasts a band of 2.4 GHz (gigahertz).

At this point, you should be able to print. If you are not able to print then please let me know what happened by following these instructions.

Please let me know if this solves your problem or if you have any other questions. If not, have a great weekend!

  • HP officejet 6978 all in a single p: hp officejet 6978 printer all in one, appearing to create its own wifi signal

After I had my printer connected and working properly, I looked in my wireless options to connect to the internet. I have hooked the fine, but in these choices, was a connection option in/with? a hp officejet 6978 printer all-in-one. Before you buy and hanging upwards, connect this option was not there. Now, this is the case and showing a stronger than my router signal. This printer is able to be a wifi connection? Any ideas?

That's great. I see nothing in the instructions, and the seller does not mention either. It seems to me that this feature would be another selling point. I do not necessarily want to disable it. I like the idea of having him as a backup, if my current one falls down, would only be an option? If so, I tried to connect using pw of my router, but cannot connect. This would have a default PW? is so, how do I find it. So thanks for your help. As I said nothing even alluded to this function...

  • HP Officejet 4355 printer suddenly start very slow printing! HP technician advice needed!

    Hello
My all-in-one HP Officejet 4355 printer start suddenly feel very very slow! I've had it for 4 years, and God never gave me any problems (maybe minor once, but never really made me mad), as I used it very often at home and at the office. I always buy the HP original ink cartridge (only once, when I wanted to see how works the charging - it's not) and now the last cartridge has been in the printer for a month or two, nothing unusual, and suddenly my printer starts to print very very slow, if normally it took 10-15 sec for a black and white page now it will take 10 to 15 minutes. Could someone suggest help?
Please don't talk about the computer/Windows/USB settings, they all work very well. I unplugged the printer from the PC and don't "align the print cartridge. First step, the printed area, took 10 minutes, second step, part of scanning, does not pass. It says printer cannot allocate the alignment page...
Moreover, I did look around for answers and found that some people say it's a fault of the ink cartridge. But I used this cartridge for a few months now, it's almost, but not yet finished, it was perfectly up to printing. Impressions during this issue come out OK, 7 out of 10.
Anyone have any ideas? If I could attract professional assistance of technicians of HP, it would be perfect.

    Thank you.

    © RedStarLimitless ©

Although they still ink cartridge may fail and give the results you see, where the printer made a bandage and wait 10-15 seconds for the next Strip. This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Remove each cartridge and clean the contacts on the cartridge and printer can solve the problem.

I don't remember if the Officejet 4355 reserve mode supports, but try the following: remove the black print cartridge and print a test page.  The printer prints at a normal speed?  Is therefore the black cartridge was the issue and needs to be replaced.  If it isn't then, put the black back cartridge in and remove the color cartridge and the test page printed.  If the printer now prints speed the color cartridge is responsible and must be replaced.

  • OfficeJet 4622 prints not Windows 8, but will print from Linux

    Hello world

I have an OfficeJet-4622 printer set up on my network (wireless) and two computers. The first is a portable computer running Windows 8, and the second is a desktop running Ubuntu Linux. Both have HP (and HP Setup) drivers installed. When I try to print something from the Windows 8, it will start printing and then say that year error has occurred. The print will be print part of a page, nothing or half of employment and a white sheet.

However, if 'copy' of the printer, or print from the Linux computer, everything works fine. One thing to note is that I'm using remanufactured cartridges, but they should not cause a problem on a single computer only.

I am at a loss here, so any suggestions on what to do to solve this problem are greatly appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day.
    Patrick.

I think I solved the problem eventually. On one of the posts of post-its, it linked to a page where you can use the automatic installation wizard. I did, and it reinstalled my driver (s). He had said the previous installation was not completed successfully. So I'll try again to print. The print came out fine. If the previous installation must have been the problem.

I went to the HP support team and they had a video to help with "Troubleshooting", they showed me how to reset my printer.  There were several options which I had already tried... so I did the reset partial... .or you unplug and wait 20 min... then hold it at the same time # and number 3 and reconnect the power chord at the same time... It took 7 minutes for the printer run the test of the colours that mine passed... and my printer works now!   Thank you very much.   HP team
