HP officejet v40xi problems

I have a HP officejet v40xi.  I have a computer dell laptop, windows 8, office 2013.  I installed the printer and, according to me, the driver updates.  "But I always print error - unknown error 06).  The printer will print the top of a page, then stop.  I had to work for a while, but it doesn't now.  My laptop is wireless and I use a usb cable to connect while trying to print.  Any suggestions?

Hello Ir429. Printing on Windows 8 with your printer is not supported, as revealed in this link:

    OfficeJet 6480.

I took 20 minutes on the phone to find someone to get me to tell them what the problem is.

the first speaker gave me a ticket #8018531464

and passed me on the real tech support (I think).

Finally, I asked if I could please tell him what my problem.

He said yes and asked if f I have the black cord that comes with it.

I said 'yes' and he pulled the plug (1 line) on the 6480.

    He hung up on me!

hahaha, nope, the wwas cord connecting the cable-modem (TimeWarner) jack to the panasonic cordless phone.

in any case, I wasn't going to go through the introduction of 20 min. again, only to find out if he could answer the question.

    So here it is.

When I connect the black cable supplied with (for a single line I think) telephone jack of the cable modem (they provide my dgital phone, internet and Cable only ESA, no data dedicated line because I have to go through a flurry of faxes from time to time at home.)

then the decision-making ext 2 'lines' on the 6480, another cord goes to the single input based on the receiver of the wireless phone.

This is the problem, no tone came thru.

so, in this loop, I inserted the small adapter, single-jac + cord short. the output of the 6480.

and plugges regular there cord to the cradle of the wireless.

I had a tone. It seemed to work so far. So I went to bed, feeling successful, to continue to ensure that I had

I tried different combinations and then abandoned once more imn frustration.

I think that the signal gets to the 6480, because I run the test and all passses. There is no test for what I am referrring to and none combined on the 6480.

I went into the details for several reasons,

I can omit something: oh, Yes, the router is a lynksys router.

There is a nearby office using the wireless router and a laptop computer in the other room.

Here is the document on the implementation for different kinds of digital lines (think VOIP is not listed) that could work however, the fax modules used in probably all HP AIO are for analogue telephone lines only (the kind of Ma Bell telephone lines that have nothing to do with computers).  So, you could be just out of luck unless you want to pay for another standard analog line in your home for the fax.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but makes no sense you need to beat your head in frustration on something that is not likely to ever work.  Oh and another thing - make absolutely sure that the telephone line is connected to the fax to send/receive is the one supplied with the printer, they are not your average phone cords that come with phones or you can pick up at the local super store.

I have the same problem with the same printer.
Indeed, it is the error through the programming of the two-way communication via Wifi.

There is error on HP sid, and they do not have a solution.
There is a simple solution which is somewhat tidious, but it allows you can scan to receive ink levels wireless and wireless.
    On your printer, go to;
Configuration > network > view network summary > discovers wireless

On this page, you will see your printers IP address. Write this down (or remember).
Return to your computer, open a new tab in a web browser. (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.)

  • HP Officejet 4630: Problem installing HP Officejet 4630

    Hello

I hope someone in these forums can help me get my printer to work.  I currently have a HP Officejet 4630 who can no longer printer from my computer Windows 10, and I don't know why.  I first had the problem when I upgraded my old computer to 10 Windows, the computer sees the printer, but when it will install the drivers, it says that it cannot connect to the printer wirelessly or wired.  I can print to the printer from mobile devices (iPhone, iPad) simply not my main computer.  I have an older model HP Envy 120 that I can view and print for just fine, but it is my printer to work and I prefer not to use it for day to day general printing which is not a related work.  I think that it is a firewall problem, but to be honest, I don't know how, or what are the changes that I need to check if this is the problem.  When I look at the printer in printers and driver section, it says that the printer is not available and that no drivers are loaded to the printer.  I know that I need drivers, but continuous HP told me no printer is installed and custom install drivers for it.  Help, please

  • HP OfficeJet 4650: Problems installing driver HP OfficeJet 4650

I can not scan with my printer. I tried to install the driver HP several times. Each time it is said that it has installed successfully.

When I add the printer to the list on printing & scanning in system preferences, it finds the printer (because it is attached to my computer via a USB cable) but in the ' using Print:' section, automatically selects the generic printer PCL. HP OfficeJet 4650 isn't in the drop-down menu to select in this section. This means that there is a problem with the driver installation?

I tried to uninstall the software, but I can't uninstall it, suggesting that it has not been correctly installed in the first place.

    What can I do?

    Hey @HPURCELL,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have some problems with your machine of Mac OS x 10.7 printing to your 4650 e-all-in-one printer Officejet. What is happening is that the printer drivers have been installed for Mac OS x 10.8 or later. The installation program is running, but the Mac printer does not communicate. To scan, you will need to upgrade to Mac OS x 10.8 or later version.

  • HP OfficeJet 4550 problem on WINDOWS 8

I just upgraded my desktop computer for Windows 8 and boredom become my HP Officejet j4550 to work.  I have gone through all of the uninstall and install troubleshooting instructions so many times that I must meet the definition of crazy at this point.  The printer was working fine before I upgraded so I think that there is something on the installation of new drivers which is problematic.  Some forums are useful in that they push me a different direction that I can try.  Before I waste any more time on this, I want to make sure I have a good plan and a few questions.

Question 1: I have my CD and it won't work.  It seems that I need to change the setting on my software and I can follow the instructions on this forum for the CD to run automatically but wonder if it's essential to get printing to work.  I fear that using a CD that was produced before the release of Windows 8 would be problematic.

Question 2: Is it better to download 32-bit or the 64-bit version.   I have a 64-bit computer and have been software download for 64 bit.  However, when I upgraded my Microsoft Office suite, suggested Microsoft get the 32-bit desktop software to avoid conflicts.  32-bit would be a good idea here, too?  If I downloaded 32 bit, the software would not work?

Question 3: A single posted statement said to run the uninstall utility #4.  The link has only three utilities but the third proposed that runs the utility 4 times to completely remove the software.  Is the suggestion, i.e., run the utility 3 to 4 times, or is there another utility that is the appropriate to run.

Question 4: The link includes a version for IT professionals only, but also the regular complete element.  The professional version of COMPUTING would not be better to download.

Question 5: I have another HP printer and it seems to be running slow, but at least it works.  Is there a way to correct the 4500 without messing up the 4200?  I have two printer hooked to the same computer because I had so many problems with them, I twice also good chance of a job.  Maybe this isn't a good strategy and I should plug the 4200 to another computer.

Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

Since the installation troubleshooting has been blocked, I restarted the computer and it was restarted with the USB cable connected - just to see what would happen.  I checked the Device Manager to see if the 4550 has been installed and it has been.  I tested it on printing and scanning, and it worked.  So, something on your solution worked.  Thank you very much.

I have an Officejet 5500 and Win 7, 64 bit.  I do not fax mode. All this worked fine until yesterday.  I can print, scan and of the internet, but now when I want to scan to computer I get a message - "No. Scan Option, you need to install or run HP software for the feature. I ran the HP scan utilities and he said that there is a problem with the HP Scanner Twain. I uninstalled the JO 5500 program and then reinstalled and I still have the same problem. Somewhere, he says that maybe it's not a software problem, but a mechanical problem. Can anyone help?

  • HP Officejet 6600: problem with the printer or ink system

I have a HP Officejet 6600. I replaced the black cartridge with a new HP black ink cartridge. This message keeps poping up, there is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off, then on. If the problem persists, contact HP. It gives me as two solutions. Solution 1: Reset the product. Turn the product off, and then unplug the power cord. Plug in the power cord and then press the key to activate the product. I've done this three times. Second solution: contact HP support note the error code provided in the email (I looked and it does not give me one) then he says, supported to contact Hp. go to: www.hp.com/support. Needless to say that this message keeps appearing on the screen of the printer and I can't do anything with the printer. Can anyone help with an idea? Please, I beg you.

    Hey @popcorn101,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you get the error "printer failure: there is a problem with the printer or ink system' on the front panel of your HP Officejet 6600 e-all-in-one printer.". Thanks for the troubleshooting steps that you received before reaching out for support, including. Right now, you have completed all the troubleshooting steps available in your efforts to solve this error in accordance with the document of support here. The failure itself is probably due to a failure of the print head. The print head is the part that the cartridges will fit. It controls the "reading" of the cartridges and put the ink on the page. If the print head does not, then the printing within your product system has failed. In this model of printer print head is a non-replaceable. Therefore, the resolution is a replacement of the entire unit.

I highly recommend at this stage that you contact our Technical Support telephone queue for discover hardware replacement options.
