HP Pavilion n221sa-15 PC Notebook touch pad frequently glitching

HP Pavilion n221sa-15 Notebook PC, windows, 8.1, 8 GB of ram (7.89 usable), OS 64-bit, processor 1.80 GHz intel core i3

I got my new laptop I bought recently (3-4 weeks, more or less) and I noticed that my touchpad we OFTEN acting upward. Sometimes, it brings up the bar of charms and randomly opens an option while the other times, it comes up freezes. I can say that it's the freezing button and not the pc because I can still use the keyboard to do things on my laptop and I use a usb mouse that always works without fail.

I have installed many things, but I did complete frequent analysis of the system using norton internet security and it "deleted" 1 virus so far. I did a scan for malware, but I'm getting to it now.

My question is possessed of a mind my laptop or is my broken touchpad?

I'll be happy to help you with the TouchPad of freezing. I don't think you need to call the Ghostbusters quite yet. It only freezes when you try access Charms Bar or it freezes at other times? Start by reinstalling your touchpad Synaptics driver.

Thank you

  • Touch pad issues on nine Pavilion x 360

I just bought a brand new HP Pavilion 13-a010dx x 360. After a few days the lower part of the touchscreen Tablet felt loose, especially on the left hand side. From the beginning I had problems with the mouse jumping around, Windows restore, change the size of the screen etc. I played with the sensitivity of the touch pad, off settings by attaching masking tape and all the gestures with multiple fingers, but it still occurs. It's really frustrating because there are less than three weeks, I bought the laptop.

I have to get the touch pad replaced?

    Hello

Pretty well, I waited the Audio service to miss because it is installed by the IDT program, but other services were in the correct state?

Try a manual update to the generic Windows driver.

Open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select Properties.  Click the driver tab and click Update driver.  Select "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let Me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.  Left click to access high definition Audio Device to highlight, and then click Next.

Did this install without error and you get any sound?

I want to disable the Touchpad, cause it gets in the way of typing.

    Concerning

It seems that you can run Windows 7 on a system designed for Windows 8 and you run without drivers TouchPad.

This does not explain it.  No worries.  This is not my personal specialty;  I have a couple of options for you.  If none of them does not work because the pilots have not features you need or the drivers don't work well on your machine, we can ask for additional help.

    Options:

    ===========================================================================

    • You might try your driver for Windows 8 running in compatibility mode.  Lot of software works in compatibility mode - if the driver for the TouchPad will be happy if this is something you can try or no--a personal choice.

Download and do not install the device:

How to install and run the drivers / software Compatilbility Mode:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Try this Windows 7 driver for a similar computer of the g6:

    • Download and press twice on the installation package
    • Restart / reboot the computer after installation

For something like this, it is best if you have an external mouse attached - it's common sense and not because of something flakey on occur.  It's like the race without a disc of recovery and personal backups: you can get away with it for years and then ONE day, Poof - here you are with a blank screen and no way to recover your data.

I understand that you are having problems with certain features of the touch pad doesn't work does not correctly. I think it's a question of settings. I'm you provide a HP support document: use and troubleshooting of the TouchPad and ClickPad (Windows 8) that will guide you in how to adjust settings and ensure that the common gestures of the Touchpad is correctly configured.

I think that this will solve your problem of Touchpad and allow you to go back to listening to your computer. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Stream laptop HP 11: after the update of windows 8.1 Windows 10, the touch pad does not work

My Hp Notebook PC 11 Stream works fine on Windows 8, 1 until I updated to windows 10. Now the touchpad is dead. I have to use a USB mouse.  In Device Manager, all the drivers work fine. Any clue?

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome.

    Information below can help you

Make sure your keyboard is on

Check in the settings 'Mouse & touchpad' to ensure that the touchpad is enabled.

Open the Settings menu (Start > settings) and go to devices > Mouse & touchpad. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and then click additional mouse options.

The mouse properties window opens. Click on the tab more far to the right (it may be called MOMENTUM ordevice settings). Under devices make sure your keyboard is not disabled. If it is disabled, click on the touch pad to select, and then click Activate.

Another thing to try is to see if your laptop has a function button that enables / disables the touchpad. It should look like a tiny touchpad with a diagonal line through it (on my computer laptop is F6, on other laptops we Fn + F5, Fn + F6 , or something else entirely). Try to switch this key if you have before you panic on the misfortunes of possible touchpad.

    Update your drivers

Windows 10 has been out for a few months now, and most of the manufacturers of touchpad have updated their drivers accordingly. But you may need to manually update your driver.

There are two ways to do this. First, click on the Start button and select Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, open the Device Manager.

By clicking on "update driver software... "will your computer Internet search for an updated driver.

    Best regards;

    Hello

Assuming you are using Windows 7, try the following.

First, download the latest installer driver Synaptics, on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50688.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

    Once done, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once done, restart the laptop.

  • touch pad disintegrate?

Ive got a g6 pavilion and my touch pad looks like it is slowly disintigrating. Ive had for less then a year and it started to happen about six months ago. feels almost oily to the touch and as the layers of the touchpad have melted. I will attach a photo to show you what I mean. I was in afghanistan for most of the time that I had this, but I doubt that dirty hands, i had sometimes would have done that in the short period of time. any help with this would be appreciated

Yes, I see that now.  It works without any problem?  It seems like it should work even with cosmetic flaws like this.  As I said, you could clean it up if you think this might help... otherwise he would just need to be replaced (of the touchpad/superior cover).

  • HP 15 ab019na: clicking on the touch pad does not work

My laptop newly purchased has just been upgraded to Windows 10. My problem is with the touch-pad. Clicking on most of the things with it (left or right) turn simply on the element, but it does not open the item. For example, the cross that appears in the top right, to a screen, to cancel this screen does not when you click on it. I have to touch it with my finger so he could work (the laptop's touch). A lot of hypertext links do not open when you click on it, but their contact works. The Start button at the bottom left does not open when you click on it, but it's when they are affected.

Clicking is sometimes more convenient than touch, so I would if the issue is resolved.

  • mouse buttons act as touch pad

    Pavilion DM1 - 3245CA Windows7 64 bit.

Right out of the box, I found the touchpad to be extremely frustrating that the delimited areas as 'right' and 'left' mouse click the points are just as sensitive to the touch as the touchpad itself.  The area of the mouse button can be used as the Tablet!  Therefore, when you touch the area to the right or left click on the mouse often jumps to a new location, which sometimes causes other "destination".

When I followed the instructions on the web site to modify the sensitivity of the touchpad or mouse button areas, the screens I see are different to those indicated for this machine and driver downloads for the touch pad indicates that I have the drivers.

From my point of view, it is a flaw that makes it almost impossible using this computer without using a USB mouse.

    Boring, so you know what.

Figured it out on my dm1z

Go to mouse properties in Control Panel and then device settings tab, and then click settings

Under scrolling of the matches of the Palm check...

Drag on the gear icon and click on it, it should open a configuration window

I put the activation time filter 0

then I check the two boxes of restriction

then I move the mouse over the black central square at the bottom of the starting area, and then drag upward a bit take outside the touchpad buttons. Press close and OK endangered.

crazyiest touchpad I've ever seen, I still have problems moving the slider even with this setting.

Let me know if find you the best settings
