HP ProLiant DL360 G6: HP ProLiant DL360 G6, recommendations of Pci-e card

Hi, I like to try this server friendly hp (with WIN7) for music production and need some Pci-e cards. Need to FireWire (half Pci-e slot) and connection for 2 monitor machine... maybe better graphics (size Pci - e) card with the digital (Dvi or something like that). I'm not sure that I can get 2 monitor to this DL360 G6 without the better graphics card?

Well, I can buy some FireWire or do I HP stuff, ideas? FireWire 400 is okay, enough for my project

And what Pci-e-type graphics card should work in this machine? I don't need a lot of power, only 2 monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution.

-Aclac

And finally... I got card (FireWire 1394 IEEE 1394 VIA VT6315) in trials. Now Win7 running with 2 monitor and my audio interface (RME ff800) has connected through this new card. I have tested only 8 hours, but everything seems to be ok. Maybe, maybe soon I turn my studio with this material huge serverbased

    Hello

I hope that this message is in the correct section - closest to you that I could find.

I recently bought a Proliant Microserver g7 n54l and installed a card RS232 and Windows 7 Professional. System works well for the access control software, I installed on it.

My problem: the microserver goes mode sleep after a few hours and must be reported by physically pressing the power button. I disabled the day before, put into hibernation and standby in Windows 7, but that DOE not help.

    Help, please?

-are there a setting in the BIOS?

-is it a ti software install

  • Half height half length for Proliant Microserver n36l video card

I try to use a pci-e graphics card to fit my hp proliant microserver - 633724-421 source n36l.

The card I have identified is a Sparkle nVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1 GB DDR3 VGA DVI HDMI PCI - E card.

I wish only to use the HDMI output, removing the output SVGA d socket to lower the profile, then mount a suitable support. Question - this card then adapt the machine and function?

I'm on Windows 8 server os.

    Can someone please advise

Thanks for the reply... good point about food, I had not spotted it was only 150 watts. Video expansion card is dead in the water unless the PSU is revalued, so where you stop. I intend to use the machine for video stream to a TV using an HDMI output that would have supported the requirement audio and given a decent video resolution. May now have to settle for svga output and an external sound card or buy a media streamer and use the server at the end it was designed!

  • SSD Intel DC P3700 NVMe and performance in ESXi 5.5.

    Hello

    I have 2 HP Proliant DL380 G9 with a 2 TB Intel P3700 NVMe SSD PCI - e card each.

To put a virtual machine on these cards, I don't get the performance I expected.

My basis for this is a Workstation Windows 8.1 with a 800 P3700 Go card for OS/workspace based on a Supermicro X10DAI motherboard.

When I benchmark P3700 of this workstation, I get results and performance as expected.

During the calibration of a virtual machine on a data P3700 store, I get waaay lower results, especially for workloads sequential.

Change controller of paravirtualised, results changes a little, mainly best write performance, but the results are always a way weak.

I use the following driver for P3700, downloaded from the vmware.com website:

    Is - 1.0e.0.30 - 1vmw.550.0.0.1391871.x86_64.vib

Screenshots of P3700 on Windows desktop / VMWare workstation VM / ESXI 5.5:

    esxi NVMe issue.png

    Paravirtualised:

    vmWARE_paravirtual_independent_atto.PNG

    Any ideas?

Now we are talking about, the drivers are definitely the big question here.

    Pre-release of Intel driver: intel-nvme - 1.0e.0.0 - 1OEM.550.0.0.1391871.x86_64.vib, did the trick.

The results are always a little strange when it comes to performance and results in read/write / values are not yet 100% where I want them, but ATTO finally shows sequentially results above the limit of 600/800 MB I saw with vmwares pilot.

Storage of the weak watch anvil utilities score both on driver LSI_SCSI and paravirtualised. I'm not shure why, but outcomes are improved in a way.

I guess than the version driver gold, and maybe a combination with ESXi 6 improve it more.

    I consider a little more.

  • ESXI 4.1 and pci serial

    Hi guys,.

I am new to this forum and a starter in VmWare ESXi. I installed ESXi 4.1 on HP DL360 G4 (HV not supported). He does what it takes very well but there is a problem.

As I need to connect devices (door and PBX access control system) series and this server has only a single serial port, I've added some additional PCI serial card (SER4037T but also tried with LP-P200A3). I don't know how to initialize this card as additional ports are not available on vSphere for use with virtual machines.

Such a card requires an additional driver?

lspci - v lists this card with the proper name.

"Communication Controller Serial 000:007:01.0 controller: this Technology Co., Ltd. SER4037A (2 x RS232 port).

    + Class 0700: 1409:7168 ' + '.

PCI passthrough is not an option that my server does not support this option.

    Please notify.

If there is no native driver for this card of VMware and you can't do PCI passthrough, then unfortunately, you're SOL.

  • After restart of 2 of our servers ESX 3.5 - 110268 the console or VMS are inaccessible

    Hi all

We've had this problem for a year now, and we assume that when we fixed a server that was causing the problem in these two places (Singapore and London).   However, we have since discovered that just reboot the server causes as well.   So I'll try to find a solution if we do not have to have the car of people for hours to get physically on the server to resolve the problem.   I wish the problem more in detail now.

In London, we have an HP Proliant DL380 G3, with a NETWORK NC7781 card, which has 2 ports (vmnic0 and vmnic1) connected to vSwitch0 (which is the Port of the VM - DataCenterLAN)

In Singapore, we have an HP Proliant DL 380 G4, with a NETWORK NC7782 card, which has a port (vmnic5) connected to vSwitch4 (which is the Service Console Port - Legacy eth0)

During the reboot of these machines are for some reason, the tg3 driver does not load properly and causes the switches above to lose the connection.   In London, I can at least PuTTY in and solve the problem, but to Singapore, it's the Console port that breaks down, making it impossible for me to connect, so get hold of local people, and they can take less 2 hours and up to a few days to get there.

What I have to do is run the following commands

    esxcfg-module d tg3

    esxcfg-module e - tg3

    vmkload_mod u tg3

    vmkload_mod tg3

in London I can go to VIC - Configuration - networking and readd the vmnic on the Virtual Machine Port

In Singapore, I have the most local support to run these 2 commands as well.

    esxcfg-vswitch - L vmnic5 vSwitch4

    and then

    esxcfg-vswitch - M eth0 vSwitch4 Legacy\ Pei vmnic5

Why is happening.    We have a few other machines that I expect to have the same problem, based on the type of computer and network cards, but they did not.   The only thing these two have in common is that they are both among the first ESX boxes, we have deployed and they have been upgraded to version 2.5.2 and 2.5.3.   We had 2 other machines that have been in our Dev environment which were identical, but they did not have this problem, but they are local to us and not in another country and one-third of the way around the world.

If there is not a direct solution, is there a way to put something in place so that the controls can run on startup or reboot?

    Thank you

    Steven Stuart

If nothing else, you can put orders in /etc/rc.local as if entered you them in the command line.  It will keep you in suspense when / if another number arrises.  If you have the time, it may be interesting a relocation for strange topics such as this one.

  • Expansion / Upgrade ProLiant DL380 G5 and ProLiant DL360 G5

Hi all, we have two servers, Proliant DL380 G5 with SmartArray 400 and Proliant DL360 G5 with SmartArray 200icontroller controller, expand us on the disks, memory and cards network, the problem is that after we see the documentation which is sometimes wrong and don't know not the limitations of each of the parties, the issues are:

    Proliant DL380 G5 SmartArray 400:
    - STORAGE: up to 8 SAS / SATA, not clear what size that can be used with this controller, we understand that up to 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM and maximum 2 TB SAS 7200 RPM, we currently use with 146 GB drives to 10,000 rpm, whose original documentation is the maximum allowed value.
-MEMORY: Up to 64 GB modules of maximum memory up to 8 GB.
    - NETWORK: update with PCI Express, support cards that I can find are HP NC110T PCI Express and PCI-Express HP NC373 HP NC360T PCI-Express.

    Proliant DL360 G5 SmartArray 200i:

    - STORAGE: up to 4 SAS / SATA controller supports only 200i SmartArray four drives in RAID 0, 1, 1 + 0 if we wanted to expand to six bays that are available on the disk server, it would change the controller and memory. Yet, the size of disk maximum supported based on the documentation is 72 GB SAS and SATA drive 60 GB, but looking it seems as if you agree at least 300 Gb SAS disks at 10 000 rpm and up to 500 GB 7200 RPM.
    - MEMORY: up to 64 GB maximum memory modules up to 8 GB.
    - NETWORK: update with PCI Express, support cards that I can find are HP NC110T PCI Express and PCI-Express HP NC373 HP NC360T PCI-Express.

This is what I have gathered and what interests me in the expansion and to say that the documentation I found to give the feeling of this conflict, is perhaps by the dates of their procedures, but before you make a payment would guarantee the purchase. Also getting information guides, manuals and forums, I have also consulted compatibiliy HP Proliant Server Guide, so I have consutlado with HP before purchasing, but have yet to receive an answer.

A greeting and thank you very much

  • Installation of VMware ESX/ESXI 4.1 on HP Proliant DL360 G4

    Hello

I think to buy an old HP Proliant DL360 G4 machine with 2 Xeon 3.6 GHz processors and 4 GB of RAM.  I intend to install VMware ESX or ESXI 4.1 on it.

I read some reviews of VMware and other products of the hypervisor and all say that these 64-bit Xeons have no VT support option and therefore cannot run 64-bit Windows guest OS.

Since I just use it as test environment learn more about Windows Server 2008.  I would like to know if I can install ESX 4.1 on the HP DL360 G4 and if so, can I install client Server 2008 32-bit Windows OS on top?

Another machine, that I'm looking is the Dell Poweredge 2850, which has the same processor and roughly the same features as the DL360 G4.  So I want to know what a Xeon with no VT - x 64-bit is limitation of technology with regard to the installation of the virtual machines based on Windows on it.

    Thanks for any help.

The Xeon 3.6 have VT - X, so you will not be able to run 64-bit OS comments, as you found it- http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=28019.  You would be OK for customers 32 bits, but you would be prevented from running Windows 2008 R2, because it is 64-bit only.   At this point, I wouldn't bother with a test server that cannot run 64-bit guests.  If you want to stick with a server-class machine I keep watch or watch a white box - vm - Help.com - see the list of the white box.

  • ESX 4.1 on HP Proliant DL360 G7 + Smartarray 410i

    Hello

I try to install ESXi 4.1 (downloaded from the HP site) on HP Proliant DL360 G7, but Setup ESXi having problems with detection of RAID. The logical unit of the smartarray is detected, but the size of the capacity is 0 (displays 0.00 B in the screen of the Installer). Is this a known problem, how can I fix?

    P. S.

I also tried to install the version no HP of ESXi, same problem.

Everything also tried installing CenOS, fine

    Thank you

ESX (i) is limited to 2 TB - 512 bytes / LUN. The ACU can take the table and divide it into logical LUNS that ESX (i) can then use to create data warehouses.

  • HP ProLiant DL360 G5 - should "fully buffered" memory modules ECC?

    Hello

HP have a few useful pages for their servers, I keep these around as reference, they are called Quickspecs... lists lots of interesting information about the server and its components..., it's the quickspec for the DL360 G5 it seems only the fully buffered collection list... so you may be stuck with requiring that...

  • HP proliant DL360 G3 ESXi Question

I bought a HP proliant DL 360 G3 for my lab and so far have been able to install ESXi and it stand up a race.  I can get to it by the client, but the problem is to create a new virtual machine... Windows Setup said that he did not find any hard disk?  ESXi reades the data store, then why can not the windows install, see hard drives?  What should I do to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

The XP cd does not have the SCSI drivers to recognize the Buslogic or LSI SCSC automatons used in its ESX virtual machines. If you have created your VM with a type of buslogic SCSI adapter, you will need to download an image of a diskette of drivers from the link below.

    http://www.VMware.com/download/server/drivers_tools.html

    Then

    (1) (copy the file FLP to your ESX Server (you can put it on the VMFS data store).)

    (2) change your VM and change the diskette to use an image file. Then navigate to the file FLP. Make sure that the connected to the power supply is turned on.

    (3) turn on your virtual machine. During the installation of Windows at the right time, press F6 to add drivers for storage and then load the driver for the drive of the virtual machine.

If you use the controller logic LSI - see this link - http://virtrix.blogspot.com/2007/09/vmware-installing-windows-xp-on-esx.html

My HP ProLiant DL360 G4 has really noisy fans and I think they work 80-100% (I guess). I searched the forum and understand I need drivers for HP health status.

But it has not reduced the fan speed after installation. I have to configure, or do I have to install any additional software on the server of VMware? Or is it something the BIOS setting?

Please tell me how to solve this problem. I'm totally lost and had a headache now.

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I mixed up my units of measure. How about 43.333. Not exactly, I want a 110 degrees Celcius sauna.

You may be able to get the foam baffle of a music/provider store.

I don't remember what was available in the G4 series for monitoring. Make sure that the CIM providers are enabled. Tab Configuration / software / advanced settings. I don't remember what article it is in, but there it is.

I would also add a temperature alarm remotely. It takes a few minutes for the temperature enough to cause damage, particularly in a small room.
