HPOfficeJet4620: no icon of the scanner in Windows 10

Installed my OfficeJet4620 all-in-one on my new HP Win10 computer, download the correct drivers for Win10.

The icon of the scanner (on the desktop on the old XP machine) is gone. I tried to find it in the OfficeJet folder in Program Files, but there is no scan.exe or similar to put a shortcut on the desktop.

Have lived about 3 reinstallations of the software, print/scan doctor, followed the recommendations of the failure of the HP Installation and tried the suggestions I see on the forum. Not working is not for me.

To clarify: I * can * scan. To do this however, I have to click on the printer icon on the desktop, open the HP printer Assistant, then immediately opens a web page for the e-printing. I then went back to the wizard in the printer and then click on Scan to get the scan dialog box. It's 3 steps to achieve what was previously one - in fact, it was something simple typo - Win - D, H (office, H for HPScanner). It's extremely frustrating. Printer even, why not even the process?

Surely, it should be possible to put a scanner on the desktop shortcut? Where to look for the *.exe file, and what's his name?

Thank you

Thanks - that's exactly what I was trying to do.

I thought that I must lose it when the HPScan.exe file was there myself, but then I realized I have had been looking in C:\Program Files\HP\HP series\Bin 4620 Officejet rather thanProgram Files (x 86)\HP\HP 4620 Officejet series\bin C:\.

I'm surprised that the printer has appeared in both places. If I had realised it is possible, it would have saved me hours of breaking round.

Anyway, problem solved right now, thanks.

  • screen resolution of the remote desktop: fonts and icons of the remote desktop window are so small they can barely read.

    Remote Desktop screen resolution

I've recently upgraded to a Windows 7 laptop from a computer in Office XP.

On my old machine, I use a VPN clent and Remote Desktop connection to use my work computer (my company uses XP on their machines).  If I try to connect from my computer Windows 7, fonts and icons of the remote desktop window are so small they can barely read.  Change display options in the settings of remote desktop doesn't affect the size of the window, not the resolution.

It is a problem because I am stuck using my old system to work remotely.

    Any ideas?

All you have to do is to reduce the resolution of the screen that you use to connect to your Remote Desktop Session.  More the higher resolution and the characters will be on your screen, and when you connect to Remote Desktop.  In my case, I lowered the resolution of my screen to the House for the resolution of the screen in my office.  It works perfectly.  To reduce the resolution follow these steps:

    1. click on start

    2. click on Control Panel

    3. under appearance & personalization - click on adjust screen resolution.  You may get a message indicating that your resolution is not at the optimum, but don't worry you will still be able to see the letters on your screen.

    Hello

Have you used the utility changes or registry to remove the shortcut arrow overlay?

First make sure the utility is uninstalled and the registry change is removed.

Try this and check if that helps:

    1. right click on a box empty desktop and select Customize.

    2. click on adjust the resolution of the screen.

    3. in the drop-down color menu, select medium (16 bit).

    4. click on apply.

    5. when Windows you asked if you want to keep these settings, click No to restore your 32-bit color depth.

    6. restart your computer.

  • 10.0 Firefox now creates a new icon on the taskbar of Windows 7 whn launched. Why?

With earlier versions of Firefox on Windows 7, I got 1 icon on the task bar and I would stay at this icon to go to the program. Now, at the launch of Firefox, that it creates an icon on the taskbar and it is confusing, because I'm used to return to the original icon, except that now it opens a new session of Firefox that I don't want. How to return to 1 icon?

After clicking on the favorite taskbar icon and firefox opens a "new Session".
DETACH the old icon and the PIN, then the "New Session" icon.

Then from this point on 1 single icon will appear in the taskbar.

  • Can you reduce the icons to the taskbar in Windows 7?

I install my programs preferred on a new computer, put it on the taskbar, and it's fill to the top.

I want to make each smaller icon/tile - that is to say, each a little more thin.  In terms of width, it seems that the icon itself occupies about half the space.  I would like to get rid of some of the lost space.

    I already use small icons.

You can use smaller icons. The taskbar right click and choose Properties. Put a check mark in the box next to small icons.
