I just got a call that I think may be a scam.
I just receievd a phone call (# not available) at 07:00 a man of Middle Eastern decent saying my PC may be at risk of crashing and he wanted to guide me through the process to fix. I was suspicious so I asked for the name of the k. comp. everything he has worked for the phone # saying ask him back. He spoke quickly, as he was trying to confuse me. He got impatient when I asked how I had to know what it was or who he RM for. Luckily, I didn't make changes or to do what it has been educate me. I called the #. It looked like to ' Steve (same guy), he replied "*", not "Hi, this is Steve of so so." I'm not a techie person and could easily have been abused by letting him "Help me" and then having accsess my person info. I called a friend who worked for a COMPUTER company who told me that he was not interested in my PC, but in accsessing my personal info. Advice? Elizabeth

I just got a call from somewhere in India that I have problems with my computer.
Original title: hoax call?I just got a call from somewhere in India that I have problems with my computer. They know this, because I have generated error reports. When I asked how I could be sure who they were they led me to a screen with a ref to no error report. and he cites correctly for me. When I was asked to sign up for control of my computer for them to correct these errors, I refused and hung up. What happens with all those errors that we report to microsoft when our computers generate the error reports and how these appellants knew my error report reference.

I just got a call from someone who said they were from Microsoft. It was obviously of the India. In any case, he said that there are problems with my computer and it asked me to do something, I would not. He hung up. He told me to click the button of windows on my keyboard. Then he told me type something in and running. But I refused. I said, how end I call Microsoft and give them your name... HE HUNG UP.
Hello DianeMcGettigan,
It is simply one of the many scams that are doing the tour.
Unless you have a prepaid support contract with Microsoft, then Microsoft will never contact you by phone, mail or e-mail about problems with your PC. You did while refusing to allow him access to your PC. All they want to do is to have access to your PC, so they can steal personal data (banking etc.) on your part.

At 18:37 a.m., EDT, I got a call on my cell phone from a blocked telephone number (NO CALLER ID was displayed on my screen). The appellant had a thick accent of the India. He told me he was "Web support". When I asked him who he was with, he says 'Windows Web Support.' He said that Windows was trying to update my computer and has not been able to access my computer while he needed me to go to my computer and follow a few easy steps, it is willingly to guide me through to solve the problem. I told him that he was wrong that my computer had just updated during the night last night and it was up to date as I check it every day. I asked him who he was trying to communicate with and he said ' You! I asked him to provide the name of the person he was looking for and he said that he could not because of privacy. He asked me to give him my name and it would confirm. I did a name Joseph Blough, (but my friends call me Joe) and he said that was the name of the account. Joe Blow? Yes agree India Phisherman mister!
He seems to get angry and began to say things like, "man, I am not taliking about the automatic updates, I want to talk about the manual updates, you have to install yourself. What, you distrust me? "" "You should just say you are suspicious and I'll tell you im for real man! '" I told her that I was not at home, he called me on a work cell which isn't even me. I asked her name and number and I would call back and connect to my computer when I arrived at my office. He provided the following: (972) 665-6268 x 1101 and he said his name was Chris.
People, I don't call the number because I know he's a crook at work.
I just wanted to share the info with everyone there and advise you to be CAREFUL and ATTENTION!

I was working in Firefox and instead of the site I was going to, I received the message above with a popup that took me to download URL http://dh45.info/popsh9gng0smncpaon3/lp9b2/uns.php?ubn=ff & keyword = pop_lp9b2_608. This notice also had a different logo from the usual Fox: http://dh45.info/popsh9gng0smncpaon3/images/ff_alt1.png. I was suspicious, so didn't upload. Is it legitimate or not?
Tom
Hello Tom, it is a phishing tactic that tries to trick you into installing malicious software, in order to not download or run this kind of stuff! just download firefox from the official site at mozilla.org - more updates are handled automatically by firefox if you don't have to download anything (you can run a check of updates of firefox > help > about firefox).
You can also run a full scan of your system with software security already in place and the various tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & kaspersky security scan to make sure there isn't already a kind of active malware on your system that triggers these false alerts.

I just got a call from someone who claims in partnership with Microsoft.
They said that my computer was sending error reports and they wanted me to download a program of monitoring Viewer to teamviewer.com. I refused when they didn't know what version of windows I was using. A feedback?

They are not Microsoft partners and your refusal was very wise.
It's a scam and with various names and phone numbers, is
becomes more common lately.
In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
If you leave them in your computer, which knows what losses they did are
where confidential information they stole. So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following
immediately:1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
financial sites.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP
